Allegedly, Yuji Horii brought up a potential and possible Chrono Trigger remake as an aside during the , which was intended to focus on the Dragon Quest series. However, updated footage showed it wasn’t what it seemed.

The original version of Chrono Trigger appeared on the SNES, and Yuji Horii was one of the writers who helped create it. It later appeared on the PlayStation and DS worldwide as well, with the DS version including new content. Mobile ports launched in 2011, and a PC one debuted in 2018.
