Yoko Taro was ed by Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya and Takahisa Taura to talk game development and more in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]
Below are highlights from the talk session with Yoko Taro and Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya and Takahiusa Taura:
Yoko Taro: “Kamiya is more on the milder side but if you only see him on Twitter he’s just rowdy. Like I’m about to get punched in no time.”
Hideki Kamiya: “They often ask me to please unblock them on Twitter when I go overseas [laughs]. I do properly unblock them when asked. I kind of just block people for fun.”
Hideki Kamiya: “I basically don’t play any of my own games. It reminds me of debugging and makes me feel sick.”
Yoko Taro: “Same here, it makes me want to fix it so I don’t play.”
Hideki Kamiya: “After making something at PlatinumGames we have evaluation meetings afterward. But we never actually reflect on anything. It’s already complete.”
Takahisa Taura: “We didn’t do one for Astral Chain.”
Hideki Kamiya: “Then let’s tell Inaba (studio head Atsushi Inaba) to make sure it happens.”
Takahisa Taura: “That’s okay [laughs].”
Yoko Taro: “Maybe I should partake in it. Taura-san doesn’t have to come.”
Yoko Taro: “I still haven’t beaten Astral Chain.”
Takahisa Taura: “Right after the game came out, Yoko-san sent me a long message with his scenario prediction. It had Legions getting pregnant and stuff.”
Hideki Kamiya: “At PlatinumGames we have meetings for company reports and meetings to announce the state of progress for each project.
Takahisa Taura: “Everyone at PlatinumGames is working to set out as a good standing company.
Hideki Kamiya: “I know, it’s almost as if there are smart people with planning skills following a schedule from the starting stages.”
Takahisa Taura: “We even have positions like production progress and such at the company now.”
Platinum Games has numerous recently announced its partnership with Tencent Holdings.
