Here are the highlights from Famitsu‘s interview with Toshihiro Kondo about Kuro no Kiseki II:
- “I’m thinking about improving the Orbment customization system.”
- “Kuro almost did not touch any mystery that would go through the series. It will begin moving from the sequel.”
- “I wanted to enable vehicle customization, but we gave up on that.”
- “People felt it was difficult to grasp the structure of Shard Skills, so it will be our homework in the future.”
- “Crimson Sin does not have the same meaning as [Hideaki Anno’s] Shin movies. If that were the case, I would have titled it Shin Kuro no Kiseki.” (laughs)
- “The current logo is provisional. We could not make it in time.” (laughs)
- “There is a meaning in us revealing the Van and Elaine pairing early. But it does not mean double protagonists — Van is still the only protagonist.”
- “Not even a whole year has ed from the prequel.”
- “The clue to the core mystery in the Kiseki (Trails) series will come out. It will be a brand-new concept that we had never depicted before.”
- “The mystery related to The Greatest Treasure will start moving.”
- “We are retaining the battle system. But there are still some more things we want to do, so we will evolve it.”
- “Even though it takes place inside the Republic, the prequel did not depict everything.”
- “We retain the methods to progress through the game, but we will also try out some rather irregular things.”
- “The Alignment System will still appear here.”
- “We plan to implement mini-games and novels. Gourmet stuff is also under deliberation. I also want to do save data linkage.”
The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II – Crimson Sin will release in Japan for PlayStation 4 and 5 in Fall 2022.
