]]>Nyu Media has announced that 2D fighting game Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm will finally be out worldwide on July 7th. It will initially be available only on Steam but other digital distributors will sell it later on.
If you backed Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm during its Indiegogo campaign back in August 2013 you should receive a Steam key before the July 7th release date.
Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm is a Street Fighter III-inspired fighting game from former King of Fighters developers. The PC version expands upon the NESiCAxLive version released in Japan last year. The additional features include a new side story, a stage called “Shogun,” English and Japanese language , dynamic mid-match commentaries from the fighters and commentators, Training Mode challenges, and an in-game command list.
Those features are available to everyone who purchases the game but there are also backer-exclusive features that let their character get the last comment in a match whether they win or lose, use special character comments after matches, and customize their new challenger announcements.
Nyu Media also noted that not all physical and other in-game campaign perks that backers of the crowdfunding effort paid for will be delivered before or on July 7th to coincide with the game’s launch. This is due to pulling the game’s release date forward but the timing of these rewards will be announced soon.

]]>Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm will be available on Taito’s NESiCAxLive arcade machines across Japan from February 12th onwards. It’s a year later than the team had originally planned and the delays have transferred to the PC version of the game too.
Using their NESiCA cards, players of the arcade version of Attack on Cataclysm will be able to track their match results, achievements and ranking data, and view it all on this website.
With the arcade version locked in, the team is now focusing on the PC version of Attack on Cataclysm, which will be coming to Steam in Japanese and English thanks to a successful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign back in 2013.
Apparently, the new characters and game systems that the Attack on Cataclysm update adds to Yatagarasu are all complete and in place. However, there are other elements that the PC version requires yet to be implemented. “Presently our designer KOTANI’s time is fully booked, which means we are still not able to set a specific date for the PC release. Once again, our apologies for the wait. We will announce it immediately when we have visibility,” the team wrote on its blog.
Furthering this apology, those that have access to the beta version of Attack on Cataclysm will receive new keys at the end of February with additional content.

Yatagarasu will be renamed Legend of Raven, but it's the same core game from a team that made King of Fighters titles. Kotani Tomoyuki hand animated the eight fighters in the game.
Legend of Raven has been enhanced for Vita with a new soundtrack, parallaxing backgrounds, and ad-hoc play. Players will be able to battle each other through an ad-hoc versus mode.

Doujin games publisher Nyu Media have launched an IndieGoGo campaign for an indie fighting game that they intend to help develop. The game is a follow-up to Yatagarasu, and is titled Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm!
For the uninitiated, Yatagarasu is an indie fighter inspired by Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, developed by three former SNK / King of Fighters staff . The game is already available on PC and is headed to the Nintendo 3DS’ eShop later this year. You can read more about it here.
Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm! will add new characters and features, and if enough funds are accumulated, get an arcade release in Japan as well. Nyu Media will localize and publish the game worldwide. Here are the features they’re looking to add:

Circle Edge, a three-man development team in Japan, are working with Nicalis on bringing a fighting game to the Nintendo 3DS. Titled Yatagarasu, the game is developed by designers who have previously worked on The King of Fighters series. Art is handled by ex-SNK artist Styleos (Toshiyuki Kotani); game design and balance by Umezono (also ex-SNK); and engine design by Shiza.
Yatagarasu was actually originally released in 2011 in Japan. The game took four years to develop, and has a four-button attack system as well as a parry system. It includes eight playable characters; a single-player and 2-player mode; and Training and Replay modes. It also has one other interesting feature—an optional commentator system that simulates trash talk during fights.
“Yatagarasu” is still only a tentative title for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, and yes, it’s headed to both North America and Europe.
Nicalis haven’t announced a release date yet, but they will be taking the game with them to PAX Prime, where attendees will be able to try it out. You can watch a trailer for the game above.
