CLAMP announced that the xxxHolic Rei manga will resume serialization in the 21st issue of Young Magazine. It’ll come out on April 21, 2025. [Thanks, Oricon!]

xxxHolic Rei is the second series, and it serves as a sequel to the original xxxHolic. It started serialization in 2013, though there are only less than 60 chapters as of the time of writing. This is due to multiple hiatuses throughout the series. Volume 4, the newest volume in the series, came out in Japan in 2016.

The first xxxHolic manga series ran from 2003 to 2011, with a total of 19 volumes in the manga. It focuses on Kimihiro Watanuki, a high schooler who can perceive the supernatural. Upon meeting a mysterious witch and shopkeeper, Yuko Ichihara, he asks for her to remove his ability to see spirits. She agrees, but in exchange for her help, he needs to work for her. The manga was very popular. Despite the lack of updates in the series proper, there was even a xxxHolic collaboration event in Identity V in 2023.

CLAMP is an influential manga artist group, known for multiple popular manga series and its work on character designs. Past works from CLAMP include Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. An exhibition for CLAMP’s works will appear in Japan in February 2025.

NetEase has revealed all of the costumes that will appear in the xxxHolic crossover in Identity V. In total, there will be four skins.

Here is the list of Hunters and Survivors that will have xxxHolic skins in Identity V:

• Geisha: Yuko Ichihara
• “Little Girl”: Kohane Tsuyuri
• Mercenary: Shizuka Doumeki
• Seer: Kimihiro Watanuki

Of these skins, only the one for Geisha is an S-tier. All of the other ones are A-tiers.

The image that appeared on official Identity V channels shows the characters standing in front of the tram on the Eversleeping Town map. Behind them, closer to the fence and the bus stop in front of the dancing Michiko area of the map, are the Identity V characters that they’re based on.

Usually, NetEase announces collaborations in advance of their actual implementation in the skin. For example, it announced in May 2022 that there will be a Bungo Stray Dogs crossover. However, the crossover didn’t happen until the fall of the same year. Since NetEase has revealed the skins, the xxxHolic crossover will likely happen soon. The new season just started as well, so it might appear in the second phase of the Essences (gacha).

Identity V is available on PC and mobile devices. The xxxHolic crossover in Identity V should debut sometime in the near future.

NetEase confirmed two new crossovers coming to its asymmetric multiplayer horror game Identity V. The first will be a collaboration with Sanrio. while the second will introduce content based on xxxHolic. This means we'll see Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and xxxHolic characters in Identity V.

The Sanrio Identity V collaboration will feature plush pets and costumes based on Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll. Both characters have been given Identity V style makeovers, with extra stitching and button eyes. The pets will be released on December 28, 2023.

Netease released few details about the xxxHolic Identity V crossover at the moment. A teaser trailer shows that both Yuko Ichihara and Kimihiro Watanuki are likely going to be making appearances, but little else has been revealed so far.

Identity V is no stranger to crossovers with other media. A Danganronpa V3 event is on its way on August 3, 2023, following the addition of previous Danganronpa content. The new crossover will bring Shuichi, Kaede, Miu, Kokichi and Rantaro to the game as costumes. Previously, NetEase also worked with Koei Tecmo to create a Fatal Frame 2 crossover featuring Mio Amakura and Sae Kurosawa costumes.

Identity V is available now for the PC and mobile platforms. The Sanrio crossover’s release date is December 28, 2023. There's no release window for the xxxHolic crossover currently.

Uniqlo revealed the UT The World of CLAMP t-shirts, showing the ones based on Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, and xxxHolic will look like. They are estimated to arrive in the middle of July 2023. Six designs will be available for ¥1,500 each (~$11). However, only women’s sizes will appear. Also, we haven’t seen any confirmation from the worldwide branches of the retailer suggesting they’ll be sold everywhere.

There's no special event page for the Uniqlo UT The World of CLAMP t-shirts with any official art, as the search page just shows the Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, and xxxHolic designs. The styles will be available in sizes extra small (XS) through three extra large (3XL).

First, here are the two kinds of Cardcaptor Sakura shirts that will appear. They only feature designs on the front.

There are also two Magic Knight Rayearth shirts at Uniqlo. While the black one only features a design on the front, the white has imagery on the front and back.

As for the remaining two shirts in the Uniqlo The World of Clamp UT line, they focus on Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic. Both feature designs on the front and back.

xxxHOLIC is getting a live-action movie adaptation that will release in Japan on April 29, 2022. CLAMP announced that veteran actress Kou Shibasaki will play Yuko Ichihara, while actor Kamiki Ryunosuke will play Kimihiro Watanuki. The company also revealed the first key visual for the movie alongside the official website. [Thanks, ryokutya!]

Directing the live-action movie is Mika Ninagawa, who previously directed the live-action adaptation of Helter Skelter in 2012. In a short message to fans, Ninagawa reveals that she originally pitched the adaptation of xxxHOLIC almost ten years ago. The movie isn't the first live-action adaptation of xxxHOLIC. From February to April 2013, a live-action series aired in Japan.

Kou Shibasaki is a Japanese television and film actress, known for appearing in other popular adaptations such as Battle Royale back in 2000. Shibasaki highlights the movie's set and costume design, makeup, and hairstyling as key points to enjoy. Kamiki Ryunosuke is also a veteran voice actor, who has voiced characters in Howl's Moving Castle, Your Name, Summer Wars, and many other anime adaptations.

In other news, CLAMP announced earlier this year that it would re-release Tokyo Babylon as part of its CLAMP Collection. The new tankobon series will feature updated illustrations, and release sometime in Summer 2022. The company is also re-releasing xxxHOLIC each month as part of the collection.

The xxxHOLIC live-action movie adaptation will release in Japanese theatres on April 29, 2022.

CLAMP will re-release a special publication of Tokyo Babylon as part of its ongoing CLAMP Collection. As with the recently-announced xxxHOLIC tankobon, the publication will feature new fully illustrated covers. Kadokawa plans to release the tankobon in Summer 2022.

Recently, CLAMP announced that it would be working with Kodansha and Kadokawa to release a series of tankobon of its past titles, the first of which was a two-part publication of xxxHOLIC. The manga features new detailed covers illustrated by CLAMP, and each tankobon costs ¥880 (about $8).

While the next series of publications has not been announced, the company notes that the CLAMP Collection will be a monthly publication. Furthermore, CLAMP notes that once it has gotten approval, it also plans to release a media mix of Tokyo Babylon in the future with the artist taking part in the production.

The Tokyo Babylon 2021 anime was recently canceled due to accusations of plagiarism. The anime adaptation was set to release in April 2021, before production studio GoHands was removed from the project. However, CLAMP is still continuing with plans to create the anime adaptation. It is currently looking for a replacement studio.

The CLAMP Collection Tokyo Babylon publication will release sometime in Summer 2022.

Figure-maker Emon Toys revealed a Yuuko xxxHOLiC Figure and two other characters for its latest lineup. Emon Toys made the announcement online at Wonder Festival 2021 (Winter). Although it is usually a physical event, the festival opted to hold a digital version in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [Thanks, Dengeki Hobby!]

Yuuko Ichihara's figure is quite elegant, including lounging furniture, colored smoke, and a butterfly. In addition to the xxxHOLiC figure, Emon Toys revealed models of Roxy Migurdia from the Mushoku Tensei series and Kujaku from the RG Veda series. All three of the new announcements will be 1/7 scale figures. Yuuko will stand at 160mm (6.3 inches) tall, while Kujaku is much bigger, coming in at 380mm (15 inches). Although Roxy's model appears to be the earliest in its development process, fans will be happy to know that they can remove her hat.
