Kotobukiya announced it will one again sell its Xenosaga 3 model kit of KOS-MOS, which lets someone build an over five-inch tall figure of the character. It is available on both the Japanese and US online storefronts, and it costs 6,820 円/$60.99. It is expected to launch in Japan in November 2025, with a US release happening in December 2025. Older versions of the kit are still available on Amazon at higher prices.

Just like the original release, this Xenosaga 3 KOS-MOS model kit makes a 1/12 scale figure of the character. It features partially painted runners and four face plates that are already painted. However, some accents might require additional painting. Also, in the case of detailed characters such as this, it is recommended to also have items like nippers and files when putting it together. Both her standard and Fatima Glass Mode appearances are ed. Also, in addition to the heroine, we also get the partsto build her Dragon Tooth sword, handgun, and gatling guns.

Here’s a closer look at the finished version of the figure and some poses we can make with her and her included accessories.

We’ve seen this exact kit quite a number of times, though it’s been six years since the last rerelease. It first debuted in December 2017. The first rerun released in October 2018. October 2019 is the last time it appeared.

While it’s been an extremely long time since KOS-MOS starred in a game, due to the Xenosaga series being over, she has appeared in titles since then. For example, both her and T-ELOS appeared in Project X Zone. She was a crossover character in Tales of the Rays too. In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, you could find her as a Rare Blade

The Xenosaga 3 KOS-MOS figure model kit will return in Japan in November 2025 and in the US in December 2025. Kotobukiya recommended pre-ordering by May 20, 2025 to guarantee getting one. Xenosaga 1-3 are available on the PS2 worldwide, while Xenosaga 1 & 2 appeared on the DS.

Monolith Soft Celebrates 25th Anniversary With New Video and Website

Monolith Soft celebrates its 25th anniversary on October 1, 2024, and to mark the occasion the studio released a new commemorative video as well as a new website celebrating the studio’s long-standing history.

The video opens with the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC Future Connected song “Future Awaits,” as all the titles that the studio has produced since it was established in October 1999 are showcased on screen. These include the Xenoblade Chronicles series, the Xenosaga trilogy, the Baten Kaitos duology, the Namco x Capcom and Project X Zone crossovers, as well as lesser-known titles like Soma Bringer and Disaster: Day of Crisis.

It then shows Xenoblade Chronicles 3 protagonists Noah and Mio standing on a grass hill playing the flute as the protagonist of other Monolith Soft titles them, including Rex, Pyra, and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X, Shulk and Fiora from Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and KOS-MOS from Xenosaga.

The video culminates with the Monolith Soft logo forming from the memories of all the games, and a Japanese sentence which translates to “Opening the future of gaming.” The sentence itself is a reference to the ending of Xenoblade Chronicles, where protagonist Shulk uses a similar line in Japanese.

xenosaga hd collection

It is looking like a Xenosaga HD Collection could prove to be a difficult task. When a fan asked Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada about the possibility of the series resurfacing, he said that it had already been considered for a remaster, but concerns about profitability halted the process.

Here is the conversation that revealed that talks about a possible Xenosaga remaster “failed in a profitable market analysis.”

When people asked further about the project, Harada expressed his sadness about the possible Xenosaga HD Collection failing. He even noted that he had been talking to Monolith Soft. When another fan asked if Europe was considered in the analysis, due to the first and third games never being released in the region, Harada replied, “We always analyze the global market.”

There were three main Xenosaga entries. Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht, Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose, and Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra all appeared on the PlayStation 2 in North America and Japan. Europe only received the second entry in the series. In addition, Xenosaga I + II appeared on the Nintendo DS in Japan.

Two Xenosaga spin-offs also exist. Xenosaga Freaks is a supplemental fan-disc for the PlayStation 2 in Japan that has a visual novel, a dictionary, and a Xenosaga II demo. There was also a three-episode mobile game in Japan called Xenosaga: Pied Piper, which acted as a prequel following Ziggy before the events of the game.

The most recent Xenosaga references in a game came in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Both KOS-MOS and T-ELOS\ appeared as Blades in it.

Harada is always rather forthright and open with fans on Twitter. For example, earlier this month he asked if people still wanted Tekken x Street Fighter.

Last month, Katsuhiro Harada, producer of Bandai Namco's Tekken series, mentioned the possibility of the company releasing an HD Remaster of the Xenosaga trilogy, a series of role-playing games developed by Monolith Soft for the PlayStation 2 before the studio was acquired by Nintendo and put to work on creating the Xenoblade franchise.

When Harada addressed the subject of a Xenosaga HD Collection, he said that it would be possible only if Namco felt there was enough demand for such a thing. In order for such a project to even be considered, Harada said, it would require “several tens of thousands” of fans to make their voices heard.

Following Harada’s comments, fans set up a petition at Avaaz.org, in order to gather together and demonstrate their demand for an HD re-release of Xenosaga. The goal of the petition—which is still ongoing—is to reach 5,000 signatures.

Unfortunately, this isn’t nearly enough, Harada said over Twitter last week. A fan tweeted at Harada with a link to the petition, pointing out that it had over 4,000 signatures. In turn, Harada replied in English, “Impressive...But I said ‘Several tens of thousands’, NOT only ‘ten of thousands’. It's not easy way...”

Harada encouraged the Twitter to read his original statement once again, where he pointed out just what would be needed in order for fans to make a convincing case.

Bandai Namco's Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada says he’s aware that Xenosaga fans would like to see an HD Collection of the trilogy of games. Recently, Harada reached out to the community over Twitter with a message asking for their . Below is Harada’s message in full:

To Xenosaga fan community.

I do understand that you all are desiring "Xenosaga HD collection".

Also, I do appreciate all your ionate comments.

I do understand your feeling to "tweet every day until the day Xenosaga HD collection comes real".

However, what I need in order to achieve your dream, is not to have tweets from the "same person" sent to me every day.

It has been a long time since Xenosaga has been released.

It really brings back memories of those days they were developing the first Xenosaga staying up all night, when the TEKKEN Project was also staying up all night on the same floor at office.

A while back, triggered by the overseas version of Project X zone, I have conducted a research and calculated if there is a business chance for Xenosaga HD remaster.

It was a very simple research at that time. Yet, research does cost money.

And at that time, I was not able to seek business chance.

In other words, I was not able to find the necessary market size that will pay for the development fee needed to create the HD remaster.

Back then, the reactions on SNS and unique s were rather few in number.

It may be that I didn't work hard enough.

Measures such as kickstarters are as of last resort, and at any rate we will not have a chance of winning as it stands now. It will not gather people by crowdfunding without creating some kind of big movement to it.

To be honest, I was about to give up and I'm troubled.

What I need, are the voices from many fans.
This is a little different from having "messages sent every day from the same person".

Although I do understand the deep love for the game, more than that, the cheers from as many "unique s" as possible is what is needed.

Digging further, I will not be able to believe comments like "I'll buy 100 copies!". Most companies will not believe in it.

It is not realistic for one person to tweet 100 times every day, or buy 100 copies alone.

It's more realistic if you bring 10 fans to the game (not to mention, it wouldn't mean anything by having the same person suddenly creating alternate s. I will be able to tell those).

What's important in these kinds of cases is the number of unique s.

It means more to have 100 people mentioning they want the game one time, rather than having one person repeating it 100 times.

A miracle would happen if several tens of thousands are gathered at the end.

Of course, involvement from the company is needed for this but...

The Xenosaga trilogy was developed by Monolith Soft while the studio was still owned by Bandai Namco. In 2007, Bandai Namco allowed the studio to be acquired by Nintendo, and since then Monolith Soft have gone on to develop games such as Soma Bringer and the widely acclaimed Xenoblade as a part of the company.

Of course, Monolith’s involvement isn’t required for a Xenosaga HD Collection. The Xenosaga I.P. belongs to Bandai Namco, and as such, if they wanted, they could outsource the development of an HD Collection to another studio.

Monolith Soft, best known for developing the critically-acclaimed Xenoblade Chronicles, opened a new studio in Kyoto, Japan, last year, in order to be closer to their parent company, Nintendo. What exactly have they been up to since then?

After Xenoblade, Monolith Soft went on to develop Project X Zone, a crossover RPG for the Nintendo 3DS, featuring characters from Capcom, Namco Bandai and Sega. They also helped out with certain aspects of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. And finally, in September, Nintendo revealed that they’re working on a brand new Wii U game.

In a series of interviews conducted internally last year, Monolith Soft discussed their projects and aspirations. Regarding their Wii U project, they were rather tight-lipped regarding what to expect, but they did say that it will be a challenging game that will get people together, and that you can expect it to be both very flashy and addicting.

This is going to be their first jump into next gen gaming. Monolith say they thought about it for a while, but and decided that if they were going to jump into the next generation, they'd like to have the perfect team in order to do it the right way. Working alongside Nintendo will be a huge advantage, they feel, as Monolith Soft will have a better understanding of the Wii U’s capabilities, in order to produce top notch titles for the company.

Monolith Soft’s Michihiko Inaba and executive producer, Hirohide Sugiura, had a couple of quotes to share, regarding their Wii U game.

Inaba: "I'd like to make an HD game that will wow the players. I want to show that Japan can still keep up with the USA when it comes next gen technology. Our goal is to become something like the developers of the Fallout series, Bethesda Softworks."

Sugiura: "I believe that today's Japanese gaming industry has lost its touch, and we'd like to do something to change that."

imageIn the second half of our chat with Soraya Saga, we focus almost entirely on the Xeno series. There’s a little tiny bit about Titus 12, an unreleased game, and Super Robot Taisen too.

Saga wrote the scenario for Xenogears and the first two Xenosaga games, but I’ll let her tell you more about her involvement in those projects.

Going way back, can you tell us about the origin of Xenogears? How did development of such an ambitious story begin and how did you weave in elements from philosophers like Nietzsche and psychologists such as Jung and Freud?

Soraya Saga: I and Tetsuya Takahashi originally submitted it as a script idea for Final Fantasy VII. While we were told that it was too dark and complicated for a fantasy, the boss was kind enough to give Takahashi a chance to launch a new project. Then Takahashi and I wrote up the full screenplay which contained cutscene-dialogues in final form, thus the project was born.

The works of Nietzsche, Freud and Jung happened to be part of common interests I shared with Takahashi. Xenogears is basically a story about "where do we come from, what are we, where are we going". In that respect, we were inspired by those concepts a lot.

Xenogears feels like it was cut short. The Perfect Works book I have on my bookshelf has a ton of other content like unused Gears and art. Can you tell us what other ideas you planned for Xenogears?

Thank you for having it on your bookshelf. Yeah, there was a ton of unused ideas, maybe we could have put them in if it were a seasons-long TV series or something like that.

image How did you feel when you got to start the Xenosaga series?

We missed Xenogears so much but overall Xenosaga seemed a fresh start full of hope.

Xenosaga and Xenogears, especially Billy's story, are packed with biblical references. Why did you pick this source and are there any other works or media that inspired these games?

Regardless of differences in religion, I've always had a deep interest in the power of belief people have. Biblical references in the game might catch the notice first because it's widely known, but also a variety of religious ideas can be seen throughout the game.

KOS-MOS, even today, is still loved by fans. Can you tell us how you created her? Were there any alternate designs or storylines?

KOS-MOS is literally the brain daughter of Takahashi. We tend to depict human characters as a strong will in a fragile flesh and blood. So, we wanted KOS-MOS to be a complement to it by being the delicate pieces of soul in an unbreakable vessel. Storywise, we couldn't fully show her background in the game, but I think it must be left veiled for now.

There were several unused designs of her by Kouichi Mugitani and Kunihiko Tanaka. Some of them can be seen in Mugitani's doujinshis.

Xenosaga was originally supposed to be six games, but was sadly also cut short. Can you share any ideas that didn't make it through or were not used in the way you wanted them to be presented due to the change?

It's so complicated. To fill the unexpected gap that was generated in the episode II, the subsequent plot had to shift its course to some extent from where it was supposed to be. There were many major changes, but what's done cannot be undone, so there's no looking back on those might-have-beens.

Personally speaking, what do you consider is the connection between Xenogears and Xenosaga?

I think all Xeno works are, so to speak, like rivers and lakes that once sprung from our mind, eventually became independent. They sure are kin, but not lineal.

image The Super Robot Taisen series is very popular in Japan. How do you feel about having characters you worked with in a spinoff to such a legendary series?

My husband (Takahashi) and son are huge fans of the series. We're feeling very honored.

Are there any crossovers you personally want to see with characters you created?

Transformers: War for Cybertron. Weltall-Id and KOS-MOS would make a good fight.

Some images of "Titus 12" popped up. Can you tell us about this project?

That was a draft proposal for a sci-fi RPG I wrote at the request of Monolithsoft circa 2000 to 2004.

image The previous Xeno works were heavy on cutscenes. How do you balance a dramatic story with gameplay and what have you learned over the years?

Keeping balance between those elements is the most important task we must work at. As you know, the heavy volume of story has been a core factor of Xeno works. But now we realized that too heavily orienting toward visuals and stories would ruin the fundamental reason for the existence of games.

Special thanks to Ms. Saga for her time and all the Siliconera readers who sent us questions. Her latest work, Xenoblade, is out in Japan now. If you missed it, the first half of our interview covers Soraya’s entry into the video game industry and Final Fantasy VI. You can read that here.

She’s a character for KOS-MOS. M.O.M.O. has two attacks, an ether bow blast and star wand mode where she transforms.

This week’s issue of Famitsu reveals other very familiar characters from the previous game. Anne, Dorothy, and Koma?

Fans will be able to dress Patty like Klonoa and Judith like KOS-MOS on January 14, 2010, reports Gpara from Jump Festa. These costumes, just like the Keroro outfit, are exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version of Tales of Vesperia. Each Vesperia star represents a different Namco Bandai icon. Do you know all of them?

Namco Bandai’s latest countdown just got interesting. Before loading the remaining days text flashes and says “that RPG will return.” (Thanks for the comment tip, BK0000!)

Which RPG? We still have to wait five days, maybe less if Famitsu scans leak it, to find out.

There are plenty of Tales games and .hack://Link already has an official site and release date so we can rule out those series. Other than those Namco Bandai doesn’t have that many active RPG franchises. Could this be a new Xenosaga or Baten Kaitos game?

Like Tales? Like crossovers? Then you're going to love Tales of Hearts. Cameos from other Tales games were expected, but Tales of Hearts goes a step beyond and brings characters from other Namco Bandai games into the Tales universe. KOS-MOS, the female android in Xenosaga, s Shing as one of the game's many characters.

When you call KOS-MOS she rushes into battle and fires a burst of bullets with her G Shot special attack. Tales of Hearts isn't the only game where KOS-MOS has a cameo role, but it looks like those are the only roles she is getting since the Xenosaga series prematurely ended years ago. Namco Bandai should just pony up and make a KOS-MOS light gun/RPG hybrid for the Wii or something.

We mentioned the awesomeness of Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga before and I’m not changing my tune especially after seeing this preview video. The battle scenes look really similar to Namco X Capcom, which makes sense since Monolith Soft is acting as the developer.

Renji, Xiaomu and KOS-MOS, the trio of shoved in cameo characters, are prominently featured in the preview video. However, KOS-MOS is “different” from Xenosaga. Look closely at what happens when she uses her beam attack around the 3:40 mark. Didn’t she… uhh… fire the laser out of her abdomen area? Even though Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga has unnecessary android sexuality, I’m looking forward to more button mashing S-RPG combat when this comes out on May 29. Are you?

ssaga.jpgYou may not recognize Soraya Saga's name, but she played an integral role in the whole Xeno-series. Before Monolith Soft matriculated she was the co-writer and a concept artist for Xenogears. Then she moved on to co-writing the script for Xenosaga Episode I and did work on Xenosaga Episode II. Afterwards she faded away for a bit, but she’s back with two RPGs.

One script is completed and the story she co-wrote should see the light of day in 2008. Her other game is in pre-production. If you’re a Xenosaga fan don’t get your hopes up that one of these unannounced titles is Xenosaga Episode 4. Namco Bandai pulled the plug on the series and Soraya Saga stopped contributing to the Xenosaga after Episode II.
