Project Tritri

There's a new RPG coming out this year, and it has a fair number of industry veterans working on the project. Project TriTri, as it's tentatively named, is an action RPG coming out sometime in Q2 2022. Notably, working on the project are artists, composers, and scenario writers from Xenoblade Chronicles, the Mana series, Octopath Traveler, and more. Further details, including the game's official title, will be announced on May 26, 2022. [Thanks, Gamer!]

The project's official website provides interested fans with a brief rundown. The game, which will be an entirely new IP, will focus on "reviving the golden age of '90s RPGs for the modern age." Releasing for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5, it will follow a young man who learns that he is the chosen Warrior of Chaos. It will solo play, as well as up to three-person multiplayer.

The website also goes through some of the people at the helm of the project. Working on world design is Nobuteru Yuki, who worked as a character designer on Chrono Cross and illustrator on Trials of Mana. The game's character designer is Raita Kazama of Xenoblade Chronicles fame. Yura Kubota, the writer for Octopath Traveler, is writing the scenario. The game's composer is Hiroki Kikuta, who worked on the soundtrack for both Trials of Mana and Secret of Mana.

Additionally, according to the game's design documents, the RPG will reportedly feature summonable familiars. Deg these unnamed familiars will be famous Pokemon designers Atsuko Nishida, Tomohiro Kitakaze, and Megumi Mizutani. Developing the game is Three Rings Design, the studio that helped develop Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town.

You can check out some of the design documents and art for Project TriTri in the screenshots below:

xenoblade chronicles definitive edition melia figure small

Good Smile Company finally assigned a launch window to the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition Melia figure. Folks will be able to get it in July 2022 in Japan and August 2022 in North America. She’ll cost ¥20,000/$190.99.

This version of Melia is based on the Future Connected epilogue available in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. She wields her World Ender and is poised to strike in the 1/7th figure. While her prototype first showed up at WonHobby 2020 Autumn, we didn’t get an initial look at the painted figure until February 2021.

Here’s a clearer look at Good Smile Company’s Melia figure. She’ll be almost 11 inches tall.

[gallery columns="7" ids="873612,873613,873614,873615,873616,873617,873618" link="file"]

Melia will be the fourth Xenoblade series figure from Good Smile Company. Previously, the company released versions of Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Pyra and Mythra. (There were even rereleases, because they were so popular.) The company also made a KOS-MOS figure based on her appearance as a Blade in the sequel. However, there haven’t been any articulated figures, like figmas or Nendoroids, of any Xenoblade Chronicles cast member yet.

The Melia figure will launch in July 2022 in Japan and August 2022 in North America. Pre-orders for her are open through Good Smile Company until April 7, 2021.

tetris 99 xenoblade chronicles

A new Tetris 99 Xenoblade Chronicles event has been revealed. A new theme is on the way, but you’ll have to wait until next month to earn it. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers who take part in the July 3-6, 2020 event will be able to play while a theme from the series and Shulk watches from the background. xenoblade chronicles art anniversary 1

It is a big day for Monolith Soft, as June 10, 2020 is the tenth anniversary of the Xenoblade Chronicles series. The original installment debuted on the Wii in Japan on June 10, 2010. To all attention to the day, the company has teamed up with Koichi “CHOCO” Mugitani for Xenoblade Chronicles art, which is available as a standalone image or as a wallpaper, that highlights every installment’s “main” character.

In the middle of this Xenoblade Chronicles art is Xenoblade Chronicles X’s Elma with her dual swords. On the left is Xenoblade Chronicles’ Shulk. Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Rex is on the right. In the background, if you look closely, you can see other notable characters and figures, like Fiora, a Skell, Pyra, Mythra, Nia, and Dromarch.

Here are all three versions of the art, which were shared on the series’ Twitter and Monolith Soft’s website.

[gallery ids="839196,839197,839198"]

As for CHOCO, the artist has been known for doing concept sketches and character designs for Monolith Soft’s various Xeno series games. For example, there are the Xenosaga Emissions Concept Art Books. CHOCO also was responsible for the T-elos Re: Blade and Praxis Blade designs from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

To celebrate the occasion, CHOCO released a picture of Melia.

Xenoblade Chronicles is available on the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Wii. Xenoblade Chronicles X is available on the Nintendo Wii U. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available on the Nintendo Switch.

xenoblade chronicles melia figure

Another Xenoblade Chronicles heroine is going to be turned into a figure, and it’s someone who has been getting a lot of time in the spotlight recently. It’s one of the more notable High Entias. The Xenoblade Chronicles Melia scale figure is now in development at Good Smile Company.

It’s such early days for this figure that there isn’t even a prototype yet. All Good Smile Company has shared is a piece of concept art of the heroine. More details about it have yet to be announced. However, since the company’s scale figures tend to be 1/7th scale, people should probably expect that of the Melia figure.

Melia is the fourth Monolith Soft Xenoblade Chronicles series heroine to get a scale figure from Good Smile Company. Both Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Pyra and Mythra ended up being brought to the life by the company, and both even are getting a rerun in 2020. The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 version of KOS-MOS was turned into a 1/7th scale figure too.

There’s no release date yet for Good Smile Company’s Xenoblade Chronicles Melia figure. However, the Nintendo Switch’s Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition will come to the console on May 29, 2020. It even rewards people who played Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Here's a look at one of the requests from the Ponspector Hachocho. In this one, he asks Shulk to help find his lost charm that was dropped in the Nervus Graveyard when a monster startled him.

There is a Ponspector Journal where you'll be able to check out the profiles of all twelve Ponspectors. The Ponspectors are split into three teams, which are Red Team, Blue Team, and Yellow Team. Each of the Ponspectors have their own specialty skill, and have personality types like “ionate,” “Caring,” or “Cowardly,” which may come into play in battles. From the team logos, it seems that each team has their own tendencies in battle as well, such as Red Team for fighting and Blue Team for healing.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition will come to the Nintendo Switch worldwide on May 29, 2020. Check out screenshots of Alvis, Dickson, and Mumkhar in our previous report.

As for his role, he’s a mysterious figure who can use the Monado, just like Shulk can, and shows up to occasionally offer some advice or cryptic hints for Shulk.

xenoblade chronicles characters definitive edition

Nintendo has prepared a refresher for all the people planning to head into Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch. A new video takes a better look at all of the returning Xenoblade Chronicles characters we’ll see, showing their new looks in-action both in event scenes and in fights. While Shulk and his other Colony 9 like Fiora, Dunban, and Reyn have appeared plenty of times before and Melia’s received a lot of attention due to her epilogue role, it’s a way to see even more of Riki and Sharla too.

Here’s the full Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition character trailer. It begins by looking at Shulk, the protagonist. Then, it moves on to focus on Reyn, Fiora, Dunban, Sharla, Riki, and Melia. If you want to avoid spoilers, though, stop watching before the 1:45 mark. That’s when the video looks at Future Connected, the new epilogue being added for this release that looks at an extra adventure with Shulk and Melia.

As a reminder, while this version does not include the New Nintendo 3DS release’s special features, it will let you do things like decide which soundtrack it uses.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition will come to the Nintendo Switch on May 29, 2020. Xenoblade Chronicles can be found on both the Nintendo Wii and the New Nintendo 3DS right now worldwide.

xenoblade chronicles definitive edition screenshots fiora xenoblade chronicles definitive edition comparisons

It’s time for a better idea of what the original versus Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition comparison might look like, literally, as a round of character-focused screenshots have been released by Nintendo in Japan. The Japanese Twitter had an array of tweets on April 27, 2020, with each one focused on characters like Shulk, Fiora, and Melia. The goal of each was to briefly remind people who they were, complete with new Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition screenshots and full body renders showing their new looks for the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

First, let’s go through all of the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition screenshots. Each one offers two pictures of the characters in cutscenes or during actual gameplay. While each hero does appear prominently in their screens, we might also get chances to see how others look in them. For example, Fiora has a screenshot that shows another look at Shulk, while in one of the Riki images we also see the Nopon talking to Reyn and Sharla.

[gallery ids="833992,833993,833994,833995,833996,833997,833998,833999,834000,834001,834002,834003,834004,833990"]

As for the official art, each one is a little better at figuring out the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition comparisons. After all, these give us a more detailed look at every main character. You can see the greater similarities between the designs and the in-game appearances, with better likenesses and greater resemblances to one another.

[gallery columns="4" ids="834005,834006,834007,834008,834009,834010,834011"]

The new look is only one of many changes in Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. When people go through it, they can use the original or remastered soundtrack. It also has a Future Connected epilogue to go through, which takes place a year after the end of the game and doesn’t need to be unlocked if returning players want to start with that storyline. We’ve also seen plenty of screenshots and footage looking at how different characters, enemies, and the world will be this time around.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition will come to the Nintendo Switch on May 29, 2020. Xenoblade Chronicles is immediately available on the Nintendo Wii and New Nintendo 3DS.

As for the official art, each one is a little better at figuring out the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition comparisons. After all, these give us a more detailed look at every main character. You can see the greater similarities between the designs and the in-game appearances, with better likenesses and greater resemblances to one another.

Yesterday, the Nintendo of Europe Twitter shared a sample of a song from the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition soundtrack. People were able to hear what the remastered version of “Colony 9,” Shulk’s hometown theme song, sounded like. Now the Nintendo of Australia Twitter did the same while dropping some knowledge. People can choose which soundtrack the game uses.

The audio clip is otherwise the same in the tweet. It’s the context that changes. After sharing the 30 second sample, Nintendo noted that people can go with either soundtrack when a person picks up Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and begins playing. Presumably, if you head into the options menu, you’ll be able to choose the music that best suits your mood.

The remastered Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition soundtrack is one of the game’s main changes. In addition to that, the graphics have been completely updated with new character models and such. You also have a whole new epilogue starring Shulk and Melia. (If you’ve already played the game, then you can hop right into this extra adventure instead of having to unlock it by replaying it all again.)
