Young'uns might not handheld LCD games, but before the Game Boy these crude devices were handheld gaming. Tiger Electronics was the king of licensing franchises like Ninja Gaiden and Mega Man only to butcher them into rudimentary diversions with static backgrounds. However, LCD games haven’t completely gone the way of the dodo. They still exist.

One company has unlicensed LCD conversions of Warcraft and Counter-Strike packaged with Strike the Bat. Since the package was sealed I didn’t get a chance to try these out. It was tempting to purchase the package, simply for the sake of research, but I reminisced to my past experience with Tiger’s games. Yeah, these would be junk in about five minutes so I ed. I guess we’ll never know how these turned out…

A 60MB , a copy of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and a fiddly installation are the only way to enjoy a cute Zelda-ish RTS on your PC. Get the WC3 mod here and expect a story along those lines: "Hyrule is unexpectedly attacked by an army of Ahtnamaz, large Ant-like creatures that have avoided with the other Kingdoms. Barely escaping, Zelda and Impa are met by an Ahtnamaz General, and Impa stays behind for the fight. Zelda goes in search of Link, who soon falls under attack by Ahtnamaz oppressors. The story line shifts between the perspective of Zelda and Link. When following Zelda’s story the battles take place similar to RTS. When playing as Link the level takes place classical LOZ style as you traverse dungeons and face bosses". Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?
