USJ (Universal Studios Japan) will host the very first Spy x Family VR roller coaster since the anime and manga series’ inception. Other attractions will include a Story Ride and a quiz rally around the theme park. [Thanks, Oricon!]

The VR coaster will focus on you and the Forger family experiencing the world as a spy. VR coasters at the theme park usually involve you inside a roller coaster-like machine, which moves around and shakes as you watch a screen and follow along with the story. As for the Story Ride, it’ll focus on you going on an adventure with the students of Eden Academy. In the key visual, we can see Becky, Damiain, and Damian’s two buddies-slash-minions.

The Spy x Family attractions be available at USJ from July 1, 2025 to January 4, 2026. However, if you visit USJ in July and August, you can buy a “Spy x Family Special One-Day .” This gives you a badge, as well as an original smartphone wallpaper. There are three variations of badges, and you will receive a random one. The options are Loid, Yor, or Anya with Bond. Sales for these es will start from April 25, 2025.

Spy x Family follows the story of Loid Forger, a spy who needs to build a family to complete a mission. To that end, he finds a fake wife who’s secretly an assassin, and a fake daughter who’s secretly a telepath. The manga is one of the best-selling series of all time, with over 38 million copies in circulation as of December 2024. The anime adaptation is also very popular.

Spy x Family is readily available on streaming services like Crunchyroll, and Viz Media has licensed the manga for English release. The third season will start airing in October 2025.

USJ (Universal Studios Japan) will offer those with a Capcom ID the chance to gain early access to its Resident Evil attraction, Night of Heroes. You have until August 7, 2024 to put your name into the lottery if you’re interested.

As mentioned earlier, in order to participate in the lottery, you’ll need to have a Capcom ID. Those who are Resident Evil ambassadors will have double the chances of being chosen. As for the event itself, it’ll take place on September 4, 2024 at USJ in Osaka. More information on the exact time will appear later.

The USJ Resident Evil experience, Night of Heroes, will only take place at night. Based on the description, it’ll be an action ride that lets you feel like you’re walking around one of the exterior stages in the games. You’ll also be able to watch the various protagonists of the Resident Evil games fight off zombies and bioweapons like Lickers. The promotional art features a much smaller Chris Redfield (for RE1), Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, and Claire Redfield. Claire, Jill, and Leon all use their designs from the remake versions.

The Resident Evil attraction at USJ will be available from September 6 until November 4, 2024. However, those who get early access will be able to check it out on September 4, 2024.

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has announced a new collaboration with the popular anime series Chainsaw Man for their Halloween Horror Nights 2024 event. Set in the Hollywood Area of the park, the attraction will run from September 6 - November 4, 2024. The announcement was made via a Twitter post and expanded upon on their official USJ website.

The new attraction, titled Chainsaw Man: The Chaos 4-D, will feature an original storyline where visitors can experience a battle between Chainsaw Man characters Denji, Aki, Power, and Kobeni against the Halloween Horror Nights Demons. The 4-D experience will immerse guests in the chaotic and blood-soaked world of Chainsaw Man, complete with realistic special effects and intense action scenes.

The experience is designed to be intense and is recommended for guests aged 12 and older, with parental consent required for younger visitors. Express options are available for those looking to skip the lines.

In related news, MAPPA announced a re-release of their collaboration merchandise between the Chainsaw Man anime and the street brand Peace x After. This collection includes shirts and hoodies featuring unique characters from the series, blending the street aesthetic with the anime’s iconic designs.

Capcom and Universal Studios Japan revealed a new horror attraction titled Biohazard: Night of Heroes. This Resident Evil-themed attraction will appear temporarily at the USJ theme park in Osaka, and it will feature key characters from the video game series like Leon and Jill.

While USJ had held Biohazard: The Extreme events in previous years, this new attraction will place an emphasis on the series' characters. The participants will be able to cooperate with Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and Chris and Claire Redfield. The official webpage also teases that players will get to fight against the likes of Nemesis and Licker.

This Resident Evil attraction will only take place at night, as USJ will hold it from 6 PM JST until the theme park's closing hours—which will be mostly 9:30 PM JST for the event's duration. The theme park will also set an age restriction for this attraction, as it will not allow children aged 12 or under to access the attraction.

Night of Heroes will be part of a larger Halloween Horror Nights 2024 event that USJ will hold throughout Fall 2024. The overall event will also include a Chainsaw Man 4-D attraction and a roller coaster ride synchronized with Ado's song "Show."

Biohazard: Night of Heroes, the Resident Evil-themed attraction, will be available at the back of Louie’s N.Y. Pizza Parlor in Universal Studios Japan from September 6, 2024, until November 4, 2024.

The Universal Studios Japan (USJ) X (formerly known as Twitter) teased an collaboration with Chainsaw Man. More information on it will appear at a later date.

There aren’t many details about the event. It features a person whose face is mutating into a more monstrous maw trying to get at a person whose hand is turning into a chainsaw. The artwork of the hand and the chainsaw is a match to Denji’s arm in promotional materials of Chainsaw Man. So while chainsaws in horror fiction are a very staple trope, it is more than likely that this will be a Chainsaw Man event.

Universal Studios Japan often runs limited time events and collaborations with other intellectual properties. For example, it had several collaborations with Resident Evil and Demon Slayer. Usually, if you go to the theme park during the event, you’ll be able to order limited time menus from an exclusive menu, as well as enjoy themed rides. These rides tend to involve an indoor roller coaster that takes you on an adventure based on the work, complete with newly recorded lines from the voice actors. You’ll watch scenes that are projected on a screen while the coaster shakes or otherwise imitates action.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be returning to USJ, as the theme park will once again hold a collaboration with the show. This time, there will be attractions based on the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training Arcs. [Thanks, Oricon!]

The Demon Slayer collaboration at USJ will run from July 19, 2024 to January 5, 2025. There is a new key visual, featuring characters from the aforementioned arcs such as Mitsuri and Muichirou. There will be two new attractions: an XR ride and a Dream Ride. USJ’s XR rides usually are a slower roller coaster in which you go through and “experience” the events of the theme, including with some 4D elements like fog and voices.

As for merchandise you can get during this event, you can get a gourd that looks like the one Tanjiro used for his breathing training. This gourd will contain popcorn. More food and drinks based on Demon Slayer will be available in the USJ collaboration restaurant.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a wildly popular anime and manga series. The manga ran from 2016 to 2020, and ufotable’s anime series started airing in 2019. It’s so popular that the movie adaptation of the Mugen Train arc even sured Spirited Away to become the highest grossing film in Japan. Currently, it’s airing the Hashira Training Arc, which you can watch on services like Crunchyroll.

The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba collaboration event will be at USJ from July 19, 2024 to January 5, 2025.

People who want to visit the Donkey Kong Country in Universal Studios Japan's Super Nintendo World will have to wait longer. Universal Studios Japan announced a delay to the new zone's opening via its X . The Donkey Kong Country's opening, which was originally slated for Spring 2024, is now delayed to the latter half of 2024.

To compensate for the delayed opening, Universal Studios has newly ed two CG trailers featuring the Donkey Kong Country zone on its YouTube channel. The first one exclusively features characters from the Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong franchises. It also shows the gate that will connect Donkey Kong Country with Super Nintendo World.

The second version includes live actors. This video will also be broadcast as a commercial ad on Japanese television channels.

Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan have been teasing the new zone since September 2021. In December 2023, the companies announced a Spring 2024 opening window. Although the opening time has since been delayed to late 2024, the companies are still on track with the initial plan to launch Donkey Kong Country within the year.

Universal Studios Japan and Nintendo announced that people will be able to get an early look at the new Donkey Kong Country expansion of the Super Nintendo World area of USJ. The Play Wild challenge event will allow participants to experience some of the features and activities that will appear at the theme park.

While there is not much information on what the Play Wild challenge will consist of, we know that part of the challenge will involve hitting question mark blocks and congas in real life. The Play Wild challenge event will be held on February 15-16 in Tokyo, February 22-23 in Nagoya, and March 7-8, 2024 in Fukuoka. Reservations are now open until January 24, 2023.

Approximately 3,000 people will be able to participate in the challenge. In addition, participants who share images and videos of the Play Wild event on X (formerly Twitter) will enter a lottery with the chance of winning special advance tickets to the Donkey Kong Country area.

Nintendo originally announced their intention to add a Donkey Kong area to Super Nintendo World USJ back in September 2021. It was recently confirmed that the new expansion would appear in Spring 2024, and USJ also teased one of its attractions.

Universal Studios Japan will open a new Donkey Kong-themed zone in 2024. Situated inside Super Nintendo World in the USJ theme park, the zone will be known as Donkey Kong Country. The Japanese press release provided a more detailed launch window in Spring 2024. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The Donkey Kong expansion zone has been teased since September 2021—half a year after Super Nintendo World officially opened in March 2021. The new announcement suggests that the new zone's launch will stay on track with the initial 2024 release window.

Donkey Kong Country will feature the Mine Cart Madness attraction, where people can get on a literal mine cart in a roller coaster ride that includes a leap over a collapsed track. Universal Studios Japan will also start selling Donkey Kong-themed merchandise at shops inside the theme park on December 6, 2023.

Once opened, the Donkey Kong zone will remain available at USJ and Super Nintendo World for the foreseeable future. Universal Studios Japan will also set up collaboration themes with My Hero Academia, Detective Conan (Case Closed), and Monster Hunter in March 2024. However, the latter titles will only appear temporarily. The Detective Conan and Monster Hunter themes will disappear at the end of June 2024, while My Hero Academia will stay for a bit longer until August 14, 2024.

Universal Studios Japan revealed that it will hold a My Hero Academia event for the first time ever. New exclusive attractions based on the action manga and anime franchise will be available from March 2024 to August 14, 2024.

Barely any details about the collaboration are known about as of this announcement. Universal Studios Japan so far teases that visitors will be able to immerse themselves in battles between the franchise's heroes and villains. It also published a key art showing the protagonist Izuku "Deku" Midoriya preparing an attack with the Universal Pictures logo as a background.

The Universal Studios Japan theme park in Osaka is known for holding collaborations with many popular Japanese anime and game franchises. It has previously featured events based on titles like One Piece, Demon Slayer, Hunter x Hunter, and Jujutsu Kaisen. The theme park also held collaborations with prominent gaming companies, such as Nintendo and Capcom.

My Hero Academia will not be the only collaboration to appear in Universal Studios Japan, as it will be part of the Universal Cool Japan 2024 event. The theme park will also open new collaborations with Detective Conan (Case Closed) and Monster Hunter simultaneously on March 1, 2024. However, the My Hero Academia collaboration will last longer as the other two will close earlier on June 30, 2024.

Due to the approaching Typhoon Lan (number 7), major Japanese amusement parks Ghibli Park and Universal Studios Japan both announced a temporary park closure for August 15, 2023. Nintendo Osaka, one of Nintendo’s many stores in Japan, also announced it will be closed that day. Each of these businesses made an official announcement on Twitter regarding the status of the parks and store.

Ghibli Park will be open for business as usual on August 14, 2023, but operating hours could be changed abruptly or the park could be temporarily closed without notice due to weather conditions. Universal Studios Japan will also be closed on August 15, 2023. The park plans to be open as usual on the following day, but opening hours may be altered depending on the weather. More information can be viewed on its official website as well.

Typhoon Lan is projected to be so powerful that it warranted cancellations of flights and trains across the main island. In the Tokai region alone, the area most affected, the Japanese Meteorological Agency has predicted 200mm to 300mm of rainfall on August 15, 2023. This comes during Obon holiday week in the country.

Travelers planning to visit any of these locations should be aware that Nintendo Osaka, Ghibli Park, and Universal Studios Japan will all be closed for business on August 15, 2023 due to the impact of Typhoon Lan.

Universal Studios Japan will bring back its Resident Evil Halloween event called the “Biohazard: The Extreme” under the new name “Biohazard: The Extreme+.” It will introduce new creatures and characters. You will have to defeat enemies and protect Raccoon City for a high score.

“Biohazard: The Extreme+” is a maze that will let you feel the fear of the Resident Evil series but in real life. There will be two routes that you can take, the “Leon” route and the “Claire” one. Just like in Resident Evil 2, you’ll encounter different monsters and characters depending on what room you take. There will also be Mr. Raccoon toys hidden in both the maze and around the park itself.

In 2022, USJ also introduced a lot of new limited menu items based on Resident Evil as part of its “Biohazard: The Extreme” campaign. Though there are no pictures of what the attraction is like actually inside of it, it appears to be a real maze that you walk through. Monsters and characters you see will likely be projected onto a screen rather than actors in a costume.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. You’ll be able to find the “Biohazard: The Extreme” maze in New York Area of USJ. It’ll be available from September 8 to November 15, 2023. To access this attraction, you’ll need to buy a beforehand via the USJ website.

A new Halloween Pokemon event will be held at Osaka’s Universal Studios Japan in Fall 2023. This new Halloween party will feature a variety of Ghost type Pokemon, and will be hosted by DJ Pikachu and DJ Gengar. This will be the first ever Halloween event for USJ, as well as the second time that Pokemon characters are featured at the theme park. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The USJ Pokemon Halloween event will be a daytime show and it will include live music and a dancing venue for people of all ages to enjoy. Additionally, USJ in collaboration with Nintendo shared a newly drawn illustration of DJ Pikachu and DJ Gengar alongside various Ghost Type Pokemon.

Pokemon characters appeared for the first time at Universal Studios Japan on March 2023, as part of the theme park’s “No Limit!” parade, alongside a variety of Mario Kart characters. Additionally, a new No Limit Summer event is set to appear at USJ between July and August 2023, and it will feature a variety of Mario characters.

The first ever Halloween event at Universal Studios Japan will be a Pokemon-themed music and dancing event, and it will be held in Fall 2023. More information on the event will come in the future.

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) will collaborate with Super Mario for its No Limit Summer 2023 event. It’ll run from July 5, 2023 to August 24, 2023. The Super Mario Power-Up Summer event that’ll be at USJ throughout July and August 2023 will feature classic Mario characters like Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. Then it appears that there will be a water fight with Koopa Jr.s. This is an audience participation event, so you and everyone else will inevitably get wet. USJ will hold the Super Mario Power-Up Summer event three times per day for about fifteen minutes. You’ll be able to participate in it at Gramercy Park (near Spiderman).

You’ll also be able to purchase merchandise to use during and after the event. They will be available at the Universal Studios Souvenirs stores and 1Up Factory. Items include a water gun and a white T-shirt that’ll change colors when it touches water. The only part that’ll change colors is the Super Mario characters though.

The Super Mario No Limit Summer 2023 event will take place at USJ from July 5, 2023 to August 24, 2023. USJ will also hold a One Piece Premier Summer 2023 event from July 5 to October 10, 2023.

USJ (Universal Studios Japan) announced that its annual One Piece event will return in Summer 2023. The limited event will run from July 5, 2023 to October 10, 2023. It’ll feature a performance using water, and the actors for Luffy and the others will actually go up to the audience and greet them. [Thanks, Oricon!]

The title of the show will be "Explode, Fire Fist" and it seems that the Marines (along with Smoker) will make an appearance. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates might have to fight them to save three queens. It's unclear which queens the summary refers to. As per usual, this story will be an original one for the park. So it will not be canon, nor will it be based on a canon arc.

Every year, the show will feature the Straw Hat Pirates fighting a veritable menagerie of enemies from the anime and manga series. In 2022, USJ re-themed its Hollywood Dream: The Ride to be a One Piece one during the Premier Summer show. So it might do that again this year. For sure, though, Sanji’s Pirate Restaurant will open up for another year to serve those hungry for his grub.

When the COVID-19 pandemic started in 2020, USJ had to cancel its One Piece Premier Show 2020. While the show did re-open, it had to cut back on some of the audience interaction due to social distancing rules. However, the 2023 event will mark a complete revival of the show. The actors will get up close to the viewers during the greeting session once more.

The One Piece Premier Summer 2023 event will run at USJ in Osaka from July 5, 2023 to October 10, 2023.
