Eyewear retailer Eyemirror announced on social media that it will release Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon Arcueid Brunestud glasses. Previous collaborations from the company connected to games include a Fate/Grand Order-themed glasses collection. That one featured designs based on characters Murasaki Shikibu and Yu Mei-ren.

You can view the official social announcement below. It did not include any concept art or photos of the glasses yet.

The collaboration is currently in production, with further details about design and pricing to be shared "soon," according to the company. This limited-edition product ties into the Tsukihime visual novel series, originally created by TYPE-MOON, which gained acclaim for its intricate storytelling and well executed characters.

Eyemirror will be handle all aspects of the production, including measurement, lens processing, and adjustments. The company will provide a range of lens options, including aspherical and tiredness-reducing lenses. The prices will be starting at ¥6,600 (approximately $45 USD) with UV protection and water-repellent coating upon request.

We've been seeing a lot of Arcueid lately. At Comiket 2024, new limited merchandise featuring the herone appeared. The set included a clear water bottle, cloth knapsack, and long towel. Additional items, such as t-shirts and tote bags featuring Arcueid and Neco-Arc also appeared.

A set of Arcueid date items from Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- will be available for advance sales at Comiket. These are limited editions to celebrate the first production of the products. [Thanks, Nordot!]

Pre-orders are open until September 8, 2024. Cospa encourages people to pre-order them so that you are guaranteed to get your hands on some of the limited edition items. Everything in the set has Arcueid’s face on it, which can help you pretend like you’re on a date with her even if you’re just walking around outside alone.

Items in the set are:

• Clear water bottle
• Cloth knapsack
• Long towel

The set costs 5000 JPY ($34.10). All of the items will come out officially in mid-November 2024. But you can get the Tsukihime Arcueid ahead of others at Comiket while supplies last.

Other items that let you show your love for Arcueid are t-shirts that cost 3300 JPY ($22.50), a large tote bag that costs 1980 JPY ($13.50), and a shoulder tote bag that costs 2200 JPY ($15). One of the t-shirts and both tote bags feature Neco-Arc instead of normal Arcueid.

As of the time of writing, Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- is the highest-rated game on OpenCritic for 2024. It has a score of 94, and its tied for first place with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

In second (third) place is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which came out on February 29, 2024. There’s only a difference of one point, as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has a score of 93. Here are the top ten 2024 games as of July 25, 2024:

Not only are visual novels still a rather niche genre, but Tsukihime is a title that the Type-Moon has anticipated for many years due to it never becoming available in an official capacity or on newer consoles. Aniplex USA has posted the opening animation for the Ciel route from Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-. If you don’t know anything about the series or Ciel, then it may contain some spoilers (as does this article).

It features ReoNA’s “Juvenile,” with ufotable as the animation company. The animation starts with a brief glimpse of Ciel’s past before moving on to her more modern life with Shiki. Characters who make cameos include the of the Tohno family, other heroine Arcueid, and new character Mario. Aside from seeing Ciel as the schoolgirl she normally is, we can also see Ciel acting in her capacity as part of the Burial Agency.

Ciel is the second heroine in Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-, only becoming available to romance after you complete Arcueid’s route. She and Arcueid are the two characters you can romance in the first game, and the second game (which is still in development) will focus a lot more on the Tohno family . Aside from her appearance in Tsukihime, Ciel is also one of the fighters in Tsukihime spin-off, Melty Blood (including Type Lumina).

Type-Moon updated its streaming guidelines for Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon ahead of its official release, and it involves avoiding spoilers. To summarize, you can stream the entirety of Arcueid’s route, but you can only stream the opening of Ciel’s.

All of the guidelines are available on the official webpage and you can read them in English or Japanese. Except for the songs in the opening animation and Arcueid ending (which are under another company’s copyright), you can stream all of the episodes in Arcueid’s route until the opening of Ciel’s. You cannot stream the 15-22 and 25th “Teach Me, Miss Ciel” segments, nor can you show any part of Ciel’s route past her opening (including the ending credits).

For videos, you must add in some content such as commentary; in other words, you can’t post the raw footage of the cutscenes. Other rules are similar to the streaming guidelines for games like Persona 5. You can’t use third-party content without their permission, post content that might damage the credibility or reputation of people who worked on the game, illegally obtained content, or anything that could be considered morally offensive. Finally, make sure you include spoiler warnings when posting onto social media.

Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon is the enhanced remake of Tsukihime, which came out in Japan in December 2000. It received several adaptations, such as an anime series, and a meta-sequel in Melty Blood. Tsukihime tells the story of Shiki Tohno, who gains the ability to see death lines after a near-fatal accident in his childhood. Other than this “defect,” he manages to live a normal life as a high school up until a chance encounter with Arcueid drags him into the supernatural conflicts in his hometown of Souya.

Reading through Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon, with its colorful cast of characters and intriguing story, serves as an unforgettable experience for veterans and newcomers to Type-Moon games. Though it does not tell the complete story of Tsukihime, due to missing the Far Side routes that focus a lot more on the Tohno mansion, it still provides a hefty amount of action and romance to bite into.

The plot of Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon follows Shiki Tohno, whose family disowned him seven years prior to the main story after suffering through a near-fatal accident. Among the aftereffects is his ability to see “lines” that exist in the world and even on people. Cutting through these lines, even with something as dull as a plastic knife, can cause them to break apart. Thankfully, young Shiki received a pair of glasses that prevented him from seeing the lines in his day-to-day life. Since then, he managed to live as an ordinary student. That is, until his family called him back to the Tohno mansion following the death of his father.

However, a chance encounter with a mysterious woman—Arcueid—on the street pulls Shiki into the supernatural conflicts that are occurring in his city, yet outside of the perception of ordinary people. For example, the serial killer murdering hapless women and draining their blood every night is actually a vampire,. Meanwhile, another vampire is in pursuit of them. People he thought were normal civilians—including himself—have a hidden connection to these magical beings and wars. It’s everything that you might expect from this genre of urban fantasy, though with a horror bent to it.

For reference, I did not play the original game myself. I watched my friend play through Tsukihime as a kid, though the language barrier prevented me from understanding it. I knew the general gist of it after getting into Type-Moon thanks to online translations, as well as the anime. So because of that, I couldn’t tell which parts of the story were from the original and which were new additions. I could tell that scenes with the new characters were new (of course), as were references to more modern technology or media that didn’t exist back in 2000. Personally, I didn’t find the addition of the new characters to be very jarring. They fit into the overall lore and story very well. In fact, if I didn’t know better, I’d be under the impression they've always existed in Tsukihime.

I personally really liked the story in Tsukihime! It feels like a good look at the Nasuverse as a whole, especially compared to more contained stories like Witch on the Holy Night. The chemistry between the characters was really nice, though I enjoyed Ciel’s route more than Arcueid’s. I was hard-pressed to really dislike characters, but I found Arach the least tolerable. Her voice actress (Mamiko Noto) did a great job portraying her. But the combination of her character design, her way of talking, and her word choices were pretty vile. Speaking of Arach, her design really drew my attention to the way that some of the female characters’ breasts are drawn. Their apparent lack of a bra at times was distracting and not in a good way. I’m sure it’s meant to titillate male players, but as someone with breasts, I kept thinking, “They don’t work like that!”

As for the gameplay, it's a visual novel with several routes and endings. At times, you'll need to choose between several options. You can check back at any time in the flowchart what you chose at certain scenes. Some scenes have prerequisites. For example, you need to make Mio scold you when you're with Ciel on the train to unlock another event later. Some endings might lead you to a dead end, in which case a humorous section with Miss Ciel and Neco-Arc will help you figure out what you needed to do instead. Of course, you could also be like me and kill Shiki on purpose in order to see more of this comedy duo. It added a level of replayability that I appreciated, since it was fun to explore and look for the different possibitilies and conversations.

In my review for Witch on the Holy Night, I noted that while the game’s presentation and story were fantastic, the localization felt rushed. That issue does not persist in Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon. There are barely any typos or unnatural phrasing, barring ones that people would expect from Nasu’s writing. It definitely felt like the localization team gave the translators and editors more time to perfect the translation, and the end result was worth it. Even without the kinetic format of the visual novel, it was easy to lose myself in the snappy conversations, poetic descriptions, and heart-pounding action.

This isn’t anything to do with the localization team, as I believe that the Japanese version did the same thing, but something to watch out for is in the prologue. To convey the confusion and trauma of the scene, the voice over and the text that appears on screen don’t match up. I think this is on purpose in order to show how jumbled the character’s thoughts are. However, there aren’t any translations that appear for the voice-over. Unfortunately, no one has posted a Let’s Play of the remake version of Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon and I can’t go back to check the prologue even after starting a new game. So I can’t double check what the text on screen was in Japanese.

The one thing that I think Witch on the Holy Night did better is accessibility. Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon was not an easy read at times. In comparing my screenshots with Witch on the Holy Night, the backgrounds and characters felt more transparent. So when the text appeared over the artwork, it was legible without much strain. In docked mode, sometimes the text would meld into the backgrounds or characters. It's much better in handheld mode. Either they need to make the screen between the text and the artwork more opaque, or they need to raise the transparency on the artwork when there’s text above it. Hopefully this is an issue unique to the Switch; it would be dreadful if PS4 players have to just deal with it on a bigger screen.

Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon is a great entry game for new Type-Moon fans and a fantastic remake for old ones. Though players can dive right in without A Witch on the Holy Night, I do recommend playing that one first if you haven’t! It helps to further your understanding of the story and world. The explanations and narration from Shiki’s point of view make it a really easy story to digest, as new fans of Nasu’s works might feel daunted by how complex the in-universe systems can be. The magic of Nasuverse is on full display in this beautiful remake, and it’s my new recommendation for those who want an action-packed visual novel.

Its sequel, The other side of red garden, will cover the Far Side storyline, as well as add an additional route starring Satsuki Yumizuka.

Ahead of the Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon remake worldwide release, Aniplex shared the English opening animated movie for the game. It gives us a chance to see major characters from this installment, like Shiki Tohno, Arcueid Brunestud, and Ciel, as well as folks who play more ing roles in this entry.

Shiki is the focal point of the trailer, as it keeps coming back to him in both more ordinary and supernatural moments in the Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon remake. However, we also get to see him with classmates like Arihiko and the remake-exclusive Sacchin. Ciel appears in the opening moments a swell. After that, Akiha Tohno appears alongside the twin maids Hisui and Kohaku. Arcueid only appears in the latter half of the video, once Shiki is shown using his abilities.

This also gives people a chance to hear the Tsukihime theme song for this entry. It is “Seimeisen” by ReoNa. She is also is known for providing the tracks for Sword Art Online games like Alicization Lycoris.

Aniplex made an announcement on the Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon social media about the PS4 art book for the remake. The contents of the game will remain unaltered.

According to the announcement, due to different platform publishing policies, the art book in the Physical Limited Edition of the PS4 Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon will have alterations to two of its pages. Meanwhile, the one that will come with the Nintendo Switch physical Limited Edition will not have any modifications in it. It’s unknown what the modifications will be. Some fans have been posting pictures online from the art book, such as the concept image for Roa in Elesia’s Body, and speculating that they’re the ones that will be changed.

Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon is the 2021 enhanced remake of the original game. Though it only features Arcueid and Ciel’s routes, the game has added on a lot of new content and characters, expanding the world of Tsukihime. There will be a sequel, The Other Side of Red Garden, which will include the routes other than Arcueid and Ciel’s.

Aniplex has released a third trailer for the English version of Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon. The trailer is almost three minutes long.

The trailer shows key scenes from the story, complete with illustrations and text boxes. It starts out focusing on Ciel and her status as an Executor. Then, it goes on to introduce other main characters such as Arcueid, Noel, and Kohaku.

As a reminder, the English localized version of Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon will be in three different versions. There will be a physical limited release that’ll cost $79.99. You can also get it as a digital copy for $49.99. However, for PS4 players only, there will be a digital deluxe version that’ll cost $59.99. Judging by the original Japanese release, the physical limited edition will have a special illustrated box. As for the digital deluxe version, it’ll come with a scenario information booklet.

Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon is the remake of Tsukihime, one of Type-Moon’s earlier works. This remake includes an expanded and rewritten version of the Arcueid and Ciel routes, as well as new visuals and voice acting. There is not much concrete information on The Other Side of Red Garden, which will be a remake of the other paths from the original game.

Good Smile Company opened pre-orders for its figma of Ciel from Tsukihime -A Piece of Blue Glass Moon-. People residing in the US and Canada can place orders for the action figure on Good Smile Online Shop US, while those living elsewhere worldwide can instead order from its Japanese global web store.

The figma will be available in two different versions. The regular edition will be available at ¥9,800 / $64.99. It will come with a pair of hands holding the Black Key swords and three facial expression plates for Ciel that range from serious to blushing.

Good Smile Company is also preparing a DX Edition that has a higher price tag of ¥12,800 / $84.99. This version will add Ciel's signature large weapon, The Seventh Holy Scripture, in both Composite Weapon and Pile Driver modes. The set will also include a muzzle flash effect to emulate the moment Ciel fires a shot from the gun.

The Ciel figma was one of the numerous Tsukihime figures that Good Smile Company announced in August 2022. Other than figma, the company is also producing Nendoroids and Pop Up Parade figures based on the 2021 remake A Piece of Blue Glass Moon. Although the lineup is mostly focused on Ciel, Arcueid Brunestud, and Akiha Tohno, the company has also released Pop Up Parade figures of Kohaku and Hisui.

The pre-order window for the figma of Ciel from Tsukihime -A Piece of Blue Glass Moon- will close on February 29, 2024. Good Smile Company will release the figures in Japan in October 2024 and North America in Q1 2025.

The localization of Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon will be the first time that Tsukihime officially appears in the West. The game first came out in 2021 as a remake of the original Tsukihime. However, it only covers the Arcueid and Ciel routes. For reference, previous Type Moon-related works such as Fate/Samurai Remnant and Witch on the Holy Night only had English text. The game was also only available with the original Japanese audio.

During gamescom 2023, a new Tsukihime remake English trailer appeared alongside a character profile for hero Shiki Tohno. This is the first video showcasing Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon outside Japan. It comes after the July 2023 reveal that the game would appear worldwide for the first time.

First, here’s the Tsukihime Remake English trailer. It sets things up by introducing a meeting between someone and a mysterious person. After that, it introduces the heroines whose routes appear in this installment. First, it shows some segments with Arcueid Brunestud. After that, Ciel shows up. Once the two women whose paths appear in this entry appear, it moves on to introduce other important characters like Akiha, Kohaku. Hisui, and Shiki. Following that, people get to hear the opening theme and see its movie.

As a reminder, there’s also a second part of this game on the way. Tsukihime: The Other Side of Red Garden is in development. That includes the routes for Akiha, Hisui, Kohaku, and Satsuki. There’s no launch date yet, and only a Japanese release is confirmed for it.

It’s time for Arcueid to explore some new—or maybe not so new—frontiers. According to an article in Type-Moon Ace Volume 15, there will be a PC release of the Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon remake. There is no information on when to expect it. [Thanks, HDKirin!]

Because we don’t know the release date, it’s hard to say if Western players will be able to play it as soon as it becomes available in Japan. That being said, we also don’t know when the localized version for consoles will come out. Though Type Moon announced that it planned on releasing an official English version of Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, we only know that it will appear sometime in 2024.

Tsukihime originally came out in 2000, and Type-Moon released it at Comiket. So the game originated as a PC one. It wasn’t until the remake version, which came out in 2021, that it appeared on other consoles. A piece of blue glass moon only adapts the Arcueid and Ciel routes. Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon is readily available in Japan on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The localized version will come out some time in 2024. This could also be when the PC version of the Tsukihime remake will come out as well.
