At Anime Expo 2024, Idea Factory International announced five games, with two being new otome titles and another being the latest Hyperdimension Neptunia spin-off. All of the games that appeared are heading to consoles.

There are two otome games among the Idea Factory International Anime Expo 2024 games. These are Battlefield Waltz and Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights. Both will head to the Nintendo Switch.  In Battlefield Waltz, we follow a warrior-in-training named Ran and the five young men she meets at an academy for those who could become the best and strongest. Meanwhile, Temirana involves players helping the “Lucky Princess” as she finds love with one of the “Tragic Knights.”

The new entries in Idea Factory International staples are Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos and Death end re;Quest: Code Z. The newest Hyperdimension Neptunia spin-off will show up on the Switch, PS4, and PS5 outside Japan. It involves racing motorcycles and the series’ classic Dogoos slime dog enemies. Death end re;Quest: Code Z is the third entry in the now trilogy, and it will also be on the Switch, PS4, and PS5.

Finally, Touhou Spell Carnival will be on the Switch, PS4, and PS5 worldwide. It is a strategy game that still involves the bullet hell elements, as you’ll deploy and move the series’ classic characters on a grid, then use their bullets to attack.

Compile Heart opened up an official website, as well as ed a teaser trailer, for its new game Touhou Spell Carnival. The company had announced that this would be one of its new titles during October 2023. [Thanks, PR Times!]

Touhou Spell Carnival will be a combination between a tactical RPG and a bullet hell. There will be various stage gimmicks, and you’ll move your characters from square to square on a grid map. There are a lot of bullets emanating from each character, but it’s unclear how you’re supposed to navigate that if it’s going to have TRPG elements. There will also be an exploration segment in which you can run around Gensokyo as Reimu. The only other Touhou character that we know will be in Spell Carnival so far is Marisa.

Mai Nakahara will voice Reimu and Yumi Uchiyama will voice Marisa. In the past, Nakahara portrayed Rena in When They Cry and Estelle in Tales of Vesperia. Meanwhile, some of Uchiyama’s previous roles include Arrow in Fire Force and Rudeus Greyrat in Mushoku Tensei. 

In early October 2023, Compile Heart announced five games that it’s working on. Touhou Spell Carnival was one of those games. During the same interview in which Compile Heart discussed these projects, it explained that it wanted to focus on developing multi-platform games for a niche audience rather than a mass market. It also wants to take on a quantity over quality approach, which will help it to gauge consumer interest. Other games that Compile Heart is working on include Madou Monogatari 4 and Death end re;Quest Code: Zion.

Touhou Spell Carnival will come out on the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch some time in Spring 2024.

Earlier in October 2023, the Japanese video game developer Compile Heart announced five new games are in the works, and that it is taking itself in a new direction focused on quantity. Now, the company has launched a title lineup website filled with a list of titles, as well as outbound links to their respective official websites when available.

The Compile Heart games currently listed on the new website are as follows:

• A new untitled shooting game
• Death end re;Quest Code:Zion
• Madou Monogatari 4
• Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z Nintendo Switch Versions
• Todokero! Tatakae! Calamity Angels
• Touhou Spell Carnival

Currently, the only games featured on the new website that have open, dedicated websites are Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z. Though the planned shooting game currently has no name, an image of a character from the game is displayed on the website. That and all of the remaining titles, excluding Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z, are planned to be released in Summer 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 in Japan. Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z are on the Switch outside Japan already.

Six Compile Heart games were added to a new title lineup website. More titles are planned to be added to the new website in the future.
