Aquaplus has announced information about the new additional in the cast of characters who’ll be ing ToHeart in the remake version of the title, which will come out on the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC via Steam on June 26, 2025. You can also listen to voice samples from these characters via the official website.

To clarify, the ToHeart remake doesn’t introduce any new characters. There is a new voice actor or actress for them instead. However, you can still swap to the old voices if you want via the options Here is the list of the characters’ new voices, as well as their old ones:

• Masashi Sato: Nayuta Sugiura (First major role)
  Original: Soichiro Hoshi (Akechi in Persona 5)
• Sebastian: Shinnosuke Ogami (Filip in Japanese dub of Sons of Anarchy)
  Original: Ryusuke Obayashi (Goto in Patlabor)
• Serika Kurusugawa: Asumi Sato (First major role)
  Original: Junko Iwao (Mint in Tales of Phantasia)
• Tomoko Hoshina: Yuki Nagaku (Lily in The Price of Smiles)
  Original: Aya Hisawaka (Kero in Cardcaptor Sakura)

The remake version will also feature new “visual cinema scenes” at key moments. These scenes will include animation-like movements and special camera angles to portray these important events. Finally, Aquaplus released the first of a new series of promotional trailers in which you can listen to the heroines' theme songs. The first one is Akari’s. You can watch it here:

Aquaplus has officially confirmed that it will release the ToHeart remake for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on June 26, 2025. The company has also published a comparison video that shows the opening movie of the remake with that of the 1999 PlayStation release of ToHeart.

Even though ToHeart originally appeared as an R-18 visual novel for PC in 1997, Aquaplus is using the opening movie from the first all-ages release on the PlayStation in 1999 as the basis. For the record, the original PC version's opening movie mostly contained slides of the heroines' facial expressions and event scenes, with some of the latter including Panchira shots.

The PS1 version's opening movie instead featured a completely hand-drawn anime. The remake's opening used this as inspiration, but Aquaplus mimicked the scenes with 3D models and a 60 fps frame rate.

In addition, Aquaplus has set up a Steam page for the ToHeart remake with help from DMM Games and Shiravune. It confirms that the visual novel will be available simultaneously worldwide with additional subtitles in English and Simplified Chinese besides Japanese.

Even though voiceovers for the visual novel will only be available in Japanese, players will be able to choose between the original and new voice actresses. For example, they can choose whether to have the highlighted heroine Akari voiced by Ayako Kawasumi or the newer voice actress Kana Ichinose.

Visual Novel ToHeart will release for Nintendo Switch and PC on June 26, 2025. It will feature a new 3D opening, along with Event Scenes recreated in 3D. It is unclear if this updated version of ToHeart will release outside of Japan. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Other new features include the option to switch between a windowed text display mode, and the more traditional style of visual novel interface at any time. Additionally, it will have new voice acting from Kana Ichinose, Kakeru Hota, Saho Shirasu, and Shogo Sakata.

A total of three versions will be available to purchase. This includes a physical edition, which will cost 3,980 yen (or $26) a digital edition that will cost 3,080 (which is around $20) and a edition. The edition will total at 10,780 (or $72) and will come with a Blu-ray disc containing all 13 episodes of the 1999 ToHeart animated series.

In July 2024, the ToHeart remake was announced, with more information appearing in early November 2024. This included a prospective release window, along with the platforms it would appear on. This information appeared at the Aquaplus 30th anniversary event.

ToHeart will release for Nintendo Switch and PC, through Steam, on June 26, 2025.
