C-Labo Gamers announced that it will set up a new temporary store to help celebrate the release of the new Haruhi Suzumiya light novel in late 2024. The store will be available both physically at Akihabara Gamers and online via the chain's website.

The novel volume in question is The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya. The 13th light novel volume in the series will appear simultaneously worldwide in Japanese and English on November 29, 2024. The newly-announced temporary store will also launch on the same day.

Both the physical and online storefronts will have the same bonus items. People who purchase at least ¥3,000 from the merchandise lineup can enter a raffle to win a bromide featuring one of the thirteen novel volume covers or a large acrylic board featuring the franchise's five main characters—Haruhi, Yuki, Mikuru, Kyon, and Itsuki.

Here is the list of merchandise in the store, with the prices in Japanese yen:

• Tin badge - ¥550 for a random item or ¥4,950 for the complete box available exclusively in the physical store

The temporary store celebrating the release of The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya will appear at Gamers' physical Akihabara outlet and online shop from November 29, 2024, and it will remain open until December 15, 2024. People who purchase the items online can expect their orders to be delivered in early February 2025. The Gamers website recommends buyers outside Japan use a proxy address and from Tenso.

Yen Press announced that those waiting to read the new Haruhi Suzumiya light novel will be able to alongside Japanese readers. We already knew The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya will be a simulpub title, which means it will be released simultaneously in both English and Japanese, but now this pins down the publisher. It came up among other New York Comic Con 2024 reveals. 

The announcement went on to offer additional clarification about the process. This will only affect the English digital release of The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya, and not the physical copy of the light novel. The new story is set to debut in Japan on November 29, 2024. So someone will be able to go directly to Yen Press and look up the digital copy at launch to it from the storefront that works best for them.

Here’s the official announcement Yen Press shared during NYCC 2024. It confirmed this installment will feature three stories starring the series’ characters. 

This tracks, as Yen Press handled both the manga and light novels in the past. The most recently published light novel was The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya, which released in 2021. It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen manga based on it, as one of the last ones was The Celebration of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Digital copies of The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya will appear in English via Yen Press on November 29, 2024.

Kadokawa has confirmed the release date of The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya. The company will publish the new light novel on November 29, 2024. The announcement also mentioned that the release will be simultaneous worldwide. That means the light novel will be available in at least Japanese and English at launch.

The announcement also came with new illustrations of Mikuru Asahina and Yuki Nagato by Noizi Ito. This title will appear as the 13th volume of Nagaru Tanigawa's Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series, which first launched in 2003.

The story will continue straight off from the 12th volume—The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya—which came out simultaneously in Japanese and English on November 25, 2020. The four-year gap will be shorter than the one between The Intuition and the two-part The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya novels, which took nine years since the latter's releases in 2011.

Kadokawa initially revealed The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya in late September 2023. While the company confirmed that the new light novel has been in the works, it did not provide a release window back then. The release date was finally announced in almost a year after the first reveal.

The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya will be available worldwide on November 29, 2024.

Kadokawa announced during the Sneaker Bunko 35th Anniversary Festa! that a new Haruhi Suzumiya light novel is currently in production, titled The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya. Currently, Kadokawa has no set release date for the light novel. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The light novel will include the short stories "Haruhi Suzumiya Theater" published in the Sneaker in 2004, and its sequel "Return of Haruhi Suzumiya Theater" published in the Sneaker in 2006. These two shot stories remained uncollected and with no continuation to their storylines for 17 years.

Illustrator Noizi Ito shared new artwork that highlights the theme of the light novel, featuring Haruhi in a white dress, Kyon in his school uniform, Yuki dressed as a rogue, Itsuki as a cowboy, and Mikuru as a space force officer.

Written by Nagaru Tanigawa, the light novel series focuses on a high schooler named Kyon as he interacts with Haruhi, a bored and erratic classmate who is unaware that she possesses the ability to alter the universe. Kyon is dragged into ing her club, the SOS Brigade, which also includes an alien, a time traveler, and an esper who are all tasked resolve any strange incidents caused by Haruhi and to make sure she never discovers her secret abilities.

Yen Press currently publishes the light novels in English under their Yen On imprint. The 12th light novel, The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya, released on November 25, 2020 after a 9-year hiatus. The series previously ran in the Sneaker, Kadokawa Shoten's light novel magazine that ran from 1998 to 2011. Kadokawa Shoten publishes the light novels in Japan under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint.

The anime adaption of the light novel series, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, was animated by Kyoto Animation and premiered in 2006 in Japan. Crunchyroll currently has the series available to stream on their service.

The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya currently has no set release date, but is currently in production.
