Kotobukiya revealed a new prototype for a figure based on Joshua Bright on its official X . This figure will feature his appearance in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC—the second entry in the Trails in the Sky series.

The figure will also include the twin swords that Joshua uses as his weapons of choice. However, the published prototype is still mostly unpainted—save for the eyes. Therefore, it will take quite some time until the company finishes painting the prototype and puts the figure up for pre-orders.

The Japanese tweet revealing the new figure prototype is also available to view right below:

The new Joshua figure will help complement Estelle Bright's figure, which has been available for pre-orders since November 2023. Kotobukiya also tweeted a reminder that it will release Estelle's figure in June 2024. The company's Japanese online store has specified June 26, 2024, as the exact release date for the latter, even though it has already run out of stock.

The new figure featuring Joshua Bright from The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC is still under development. It will take more time until Kotobukiya finishes painting the prototype and put the figure up for pre-orders.

Trails in the Sky SC Estelle Bright figure

Kotobukiya started accepting pre-orders for its figure of Estelle Bright. People can order the figure at 20,900 yen (~$142). The company will start shipping the finished figures in June 2024.

The new figure will take on Estelle's appearance from The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC (Second Chapter), the second entry in the Trails in the Sky trilogy. With a scale of 1/8, the figure will have an overall height of 253mm (9.96 inches)—counted from the staff tip. Kotobukiya has finished coloring the figure after previously revealing the unpainted prototype in early October 2023.

Kotobukiya will add an alternate face plate as an exclusive bonus for those who place orders on the Japan-exclusive Kotobukiya Online Shop. While the figure is also available on AmiAmi—which s worldwide shipping with a discounted price of 17,550 yen (~$119), the latter will not include the bonus face plate.

This will be the first time that Kotobukiya releases a figure based on a design from Trails in the Sky. While the company had released a figure of Renne Bright—who debuted in Trails in the Sky SC, it used her more mature design from Trails into Reverie. Kotobukiya has mostly released figures of characters from the Trails of Cold Steel series and the Crossbell duology, such as Rean Schwarzer, Altina Orion, and Tio Plato.

The 1/8 scale figure of Estelle Bright from The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC will be available in June 2024.

Turbo Modes and DirectX9 betas have been added to all three installments in the The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky trilogy.

XSEED has updated the PC versions of each entry in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky trilogy. Trails in the Sky FC, SC, and the 3rd now each have an optional Turbo Mode and DirectX9 beta version. After ing the latest patch, both features will be added to all three games.

To set the Turbo Mode rate, you need to open the Configuration Tool before you play. Under the Input tab, you will be able to set the Field Turbo Rate and Battle Turbo Rate. In each category, the options are: off, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Since this is the initial version of Turbo Mode for all three The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky games, there may be some bugs.

As for the DirectX9 beta versions, all you need to do is click “Play DirectX9 version (Beta!)” before you begin playing. Sara Leen, one of Xseed Games’ programmers, notes that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC’s DX9 version will likely be the most buggy of the three, as it had no version of it until today.

All three The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky games are available for Windows PCs.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky trilogy localization is receiving a few edits. Most notably, Zane Vathek will become Zin. In addition, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd will be released on May 3, 2017.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd has a release date. On May 3, 2017, the game will come to the PC. It will be $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99 , though a 10% discount will be in effect for the first week after it launches.

Over on the official Xseed Tumblr, Localization Producer Brittany Avery has released a new entry that goes over the progress that’s been made on The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky series’ localization adjustments that people will notice in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky: Trails in the Sky the 3rd and previous games.

While the full list at the Xseed Tumblr offers Avery’s commentary on each alteration, here is an abbreviated list of every The Legend of Heroes term that will be altered in the trilogy.

  • Dead Emperor Sword will become Sword of Abaddon (Loewe’s S-Craft).
  • Pillar of Salt will become Salt Pale,
  • Stainrose will become Steinrose.
  • Grancel museum descriptions will be rewritten and expanded.
  • Master/King of the Lake will become Guardian of the Lake.
  • Duke Dunan will be referred to as “Your Grace,” rather than like “Your Excellency.”
  • Capua family group will be sky bandits, Sky Bandits.
  • The term “flying boats” is being removed, and going forward airships will be the generic term and used for small ships and larger ships will be orbalships.
  • The “hmm-hmm,” “hmmhmm,” “hmhm,” and “hm-hm” sorts of remarks will be altered and removed, to make the first two games more in line with The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd and Trails of Cold Steel I & II.
  • Mr. Fisher, the Fisherman’s Guild president, will now be known as the Fishing Baron.
  • Social sciences will become social studies.
  • The faculty lounge will be used instead of staff office or lounge.
  • Jenis’ dorms will be referred to in a singular fashion, unless someone is discussing the boys and girls dorms at the same time.
  • Oliver’s “In fact, I believe the Imperial Academy was to launch an investigation…but then the Hundred Days War broke out.” line will be altered to reflect that the academy being referenced is The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel’s Imperial Institute of Science.
  • Estelle’s for her father will be adjusted for the sake of consistency. For example, She called Cassius “Daddy” as a child in the first game, but “Papa” in the second, so now she will call him “Daddy” in both.
  • Maybelle will be referred to as Mayor Maybelle by almost everyone, though Lila will call her Miss Maybelle and General Morgan, Kloe, and Yahat call her Maybelle.
  • Zane Vathek’s name will be changed to Zin for the entire trilogy.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd will come to Windows PCs in 2017.

Who would've ever guessed that EA's Creative Director on the Madden Team is a huge JRPG fan with The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC listed as one of his top-5 titles?

The post Here Are Some Top Japanese Games Of 2016 Chosen By Western Developers appeared first on Siliconera.

<![CDATA[

3129409-thelastguardian-impressions-thumb-nologo-20160913 We’ve seen plenty of developers share their top games of 2016, but here’s a little something we put together that shows top Japanese games selected by Western developers. You can read the full list over at GameInformer, but for now we’ll check out which Japanese games made it onto the top-5 list of developers from the West. It should also be noted that I’ve included Pokémon GO, which is developed in the West by Niantic, but it’s still Pokémon and I thought it was quite interesting seeing how many developers had it on their top-5 for 2016, so we’ll let it . Cory Davis (Tangentlemen / Here They Lie)

4. Final Fantasy XV – Final Fantasy is quite possibly the strangest mix of extreme AAA production value and over-the-top, no-holds-barred, gonzo creative direction ever to grace us with its twisted, bedazzled maw. I can’t get enough of the quirky boy-band squad, the exhilarating combat system, or the absolutely unpredictable, seemingly cocaine-driven campaign these fellas are on.

Mathijs de Jonge (Guerrilla Games / Horizon Zero Dawn)

2. The Last Guardian – It’s wonderful to return to a world like that of Shadow of the Colossus (one of my all-time favorites) and solve its puzzles. I adore the unique atmosphere, and Trico is brought to life with incredible craftsmanship. 5. Monster Hunter Generations – This is a game I come back to regularly. It feels very complete in of options and content, and it’s good to see that the series was made more accessible without affecting the core Monster Hunter gameplay.

REXDICKSON Rex Dickson (EA / Madden)

4. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC – I am a JRPG fan boy and have been for a long time. The trails series on the PSVita really blew me away with story and character development. The relationship between the two lead characters (Joshua and Estelle) was as powerful and memorable to me as Cloud and Aeris back in FF7. I think I sunk well over 100 hours into this franchise and loved every second.

Neil Druckmann (Naughty Dog / The Last of Us)

1. The Last Guardian – My GOTY. Another beautiful tale of a bond created through interaction by Team Ico/genDESIGN. Trico is a masterclass in creating a believable, living creature. By the end of the journey I was wiping away tears – the first time that has ever happened to me in a video game.

3. Super Mario Run – Nintendo simplified Mario down to one mechanic, jump, while still retaining much of the depth of its 2D predecessors. Once I started I couldn’t stop playing until I had all the secret coins on each level.

STEVEGAYNOR Steve Gaynor (Fullbright / Gone Home)

5. The Last Guardian – I don’t think any of us were sure if we’d ever get to play this game. But it finally arrived, and by god, it was worth the wait. The incredible technical wonder of what has been achieved with Trico – an independent, utterly convincing simulated creature, living there on screen – and his relationship with the player, both interactively and through the events of the game’s story, is simply breathtaking. The Last Guardian is one of the grandest, most human, most impressive feats of game-making in many, many years. Thank heaven the work of Fumito Ueda has returned to us after all this time. To call The Last Guardian a masterpiece is an understatement. It is the rare game I feel truly grateful for.

Drew_2D00_McCoy Drew McCoy (Respawn Entertainment / Titanfall)

3. Pokémon GO – Not much “game” to play here, per se, but there’s tons to love about my time playing it as I look back on the summer and fall walking around with my wife and kids catching Pokémon in as many new and interesting places as possible. I’m still upset they all happily caught Mr. Mime in Switzerland while my phone was dead and could only stand by to watch!

Arthur_2D00_Parsons Arthur Parsons (TT Games / Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

3. Pokémon GO – Many people may scoff when I write Pokémon GO, however it was a special game in 2016 for me for different reasons to those that people may think. It is a game that came out and managed to bring my entire family together. All of a sudden the kids were asking if they could take the dogs on a walk, asking if we could all go for a walk out in the forest, asking if we could spend time together, in the outside!!! Unbelievable! So yes bizarrely we spent many an hour trekking around the countryside catching Pokémon, laughing and joking, and having fun. So Pokémon GO has to come on my list purely on the basis that intentionally or not it made us all venture outside together in a shared interest, and even made us take the odd midnight Poke-walk in the forest! Kudos!

Alx Preston (Heart Machine / Hyper Light Drifter)

5. Dark Souls III – Yes, it’s more Dark Souls, remixed. It still remains a deeply satisfying and punishing formula that I can’t get enough of. Also, who doesn’t like throwing dung pie at other players?

Tommy Refenes (Team Meat / Super Meat Boy)

4. Pokémon GO (before they ruined it) – When Pokémon GO first came out my wife and I would walk around and catch Pokemon and it was awesome. Then they changed a bunch of stuff and now it sorta blows because I can’t get PokeStops anymore while riding in the car so I can’t catch Pokemon. I swear they just need to lawyer up and stop trying to make the game “safe” for everyone in every circumstance. I can snapchat while I drive, why can’t I get PokeStops while I’m riding in a car?

Harvey_2D00_Smith Harvey Smith (Arkane Studios / Dishonored)

4. Pokémon GO – Despite the problems, both technical and conceptual, I love this little game for its global nature. I’ve caught Pokemon in L.A. and London, but also in Zatec, Czech Republic. And it really provided us with one of the few non-horrifying cultural moments of 2016.

Tim Willits (id Software / Doom)

4. Pokémon GO – I it I don’t have this game on my iPhone, but all three of my kids do. Spending time with my kids driving around looking for Pokemon has been a lot of fun for me and a great father / kid experience. One day we drove around the Texas State Fair grounds with the top down on the car trying to hatch eggs and hunt for Pokemon –great memories. Games that can deliver experiences like that deserve to be on any top 5.

XSEED has released a new The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter localization blog entry, and this one serves to highlight the experiences of translators and the quality assurance team as they prepare the PlayStation Portable and PC versions of the game.

The post from XSEED details good, bad, and ugly experiences that occurred while working on The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. The best experiences are left for last, to end on a high note. Some of the less than desirable moments working on the game involved ellipses that became zenkaku ellipses, things wouldn’t appear on a PSP or PC screen they way they did in the files, more conservative text limits, random text inflation, consistency issues, boss pop-ins, invisible monsters, purple doorways to nowhere, and more.

On the plus side, XSEED’s consultations with Falcom lead to new understandings of things in both The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky games. Germanic naming conventions were implemented, and retroactively added to the first game on steam. The Liberl Royal Army military structure was overhauled for the sake of accuracy.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC was originally released on Japanese PCs in 2006, and the PlayStation Portable in 2007. XSEED will release both versions in English on the PlayStation Portable and PC in 2015.

Xseed is still working with Carpe Fulgur to localize The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter. Falcom’s RPG is slated for release this winter on PSP via the PlayStation Network Store and PC. Like the first game, Trails in the Sky SC has a ton of text including an in-game newspaper with different issues to read as the story progresses and a cat-speech dictionary.

While you’re waiting for the epic sequel, check out The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky for PC. This version has Steam achievements, faster load times, for different screen resolutions (HD, full screen, and wide screen), clearer fonts, and dynamic lighting in dungeons. Players will also be able to turn English voices and Retry Offset, a function that lowers battle difficulty if you get defeated, on or off. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is 15% off for its launch.

That won’t be happening any more—Xseed recently shared via Facebook that they’ve run into delays. In reply to a fan on Facebook, an Xseed representative revealed: “Nobody wants that game released ASAP more than us, but afraid it’s a bit delayed and probably the end of the year is the best we can hope for.” Trails in the Sky SC is being localized by Recettear publisher Carpe Fulgur, and will be released for PC and PSP.

In 2014, Xseed will publish The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC for PC and PSP in North America. Additionally, the first Trails in the Sky game will be made available for PC, too. Now, we have a slightly better idea of when one can expect the two games.

Responding to a fan asking when Trails in the Sky would be available for Steam on Facebook, an Xseed representative replied: “Shooting for early 2014 for FC [first chapter], and probably more middle of the year for SC.”

Trails in the Sky SC is being localized by Carpe Fulgur, who say the game is their largest localization project to date.
