The 30th anniversary of the Tales series is just around the corner and Bandai Namco has already started preparations with the Remastered Project. For those who would like to take a walk down memory lane, or are curious about what other Tales games they can play while waiting for new (or remastered) releases, here is a full list of the mothership Tales titles.

The original Tales of Destiny came out on the PlayStation and the remake came out in 2006 for the PS2. It follows Stahn, who accidentally finds a sentient sword that calls itself Dymlos. He, along with other wielders of speaking swords, fight for the Eye of Atamoni, which is a powerful relic from an ancient war.

Tales of Destiny Remake is one of the best titles in the Tales series for its story—which expands on the original and includes a redemption arc for popular character Leon—and fighting style. Hopefully, Bandai Namco has plans for a remaster so that it can officially release the game to the west.

Tales of Eternia, released in the west as Tales of Destiny 2, has nothing to do with Tales of Destiny. Instead, it follows Reid Hershel and his friends, who live together in the world of Inferia. One day, they come across a mysterious foreign girl named Meredy and through their interactions with her, learn of a different world called Celestia. They journey together to stop an ages-old conflict between the two worlds.

Tales of Eternia feels like the turning point for the Tales series in that it propelled the series into its initial popularity. It was popular enough for an anime adaptation and a MMO, though the anime was pretty bad (in that it had little to do with the game) and the MMO didn’t last long. The battle system feels a lot more fluid compared to Phantasia and Destiny, and it holds up to newer 2D Tales games too.

The actual sequel to Tales of Destiny, Tales of Destiny 2 follows Kyle, who’s the son of Stahn and Rutee from the first game. Due to his parents’ heroic past, he’s also obsessed with becoming a hero. One day, he meets a mysterious girl named Reala and embarks on a journey to become a true hero.

Like the above Tales of Destiny Remake, Tales of Destiny 2 is a fantastic game. It’s got a great story, compelling characters, and a difficult battle system that’s rewarding to master. The meme himself, Barbatos, is also from this game. Considering how much trouble he can give you, it can be a little hard to laugh at the jokes Bandai Namco make at his expense.

Tales of Symphonia was popular in its native Japan, but it’s what really put the franchise on the map for the western audience. While the west had gotten Phantasia and Eternia, they weren’t exactly selling like hotcakes in the way that Symphonia did. The story follows Lloyd, who s his friend Colette’s pilgrimage to regenerate the world of Sylvarant.

The story of Tales of Rebirth heavily focuses on racism. It takes place in a world where people wield a magical power called Force after King Ladras, in his final moments, uses his power to unleash the potential in people around his kingdom. Veigue lost power of his Force of Ice and froze his childhood friend Claire in a pillar. Even after he manages to free her with the help of new friends Eugene and Mao, soldiers acting on orders from Karegia Kingdom heiress Agarte take her away. His journey to rescue her from the palace morphs into a battle to end racism.

Tales of Legendia follows the story of Senel and his surrogate little sister Shirley. Shirley is the Merines, a legendary figure among the Ferines, which is a race of people who can live underwater. Because Shirley is the Merines, many different factions want to capture her to use them for their own schemes.

Compared to previous titles (and its successor Abyss), Tales of Legendia looks and plays in a very weird way. This likely has to do with the fact that the developer, Project MelFes, consists of Tales Studio , along with developers from the Tekken and Soul Calibur series. It’s the first Tales game with Go Shiina as the composer and the soundtrack is objectively the game’s highest point.

Tales of the Abyss is the eighth mothership title, but it’s the commemorative game for the series’s 10th anniversary. It follows Luke fon Fabre, a pampered noble and swordsman who ends up outside of his comfy mansion after heroine Tear appears to assassinate her brother, who’s also Luke’s teacher. The story heavily focuses on Luke’s personal development as he seeks the meaning of his birth. There is also an anime adaptation for Abyss, which you can watch on YouTube.

Tales of the Tempest follows Caius Qualls, who is a Leymon (essentially a werewolf). After the church takes his guardian prisoner and kill the parents of his childhood friend Rubia, the two of them set out for the capital. The adventure then turns into one to overthrow the church.

Tales of the Tempest is the first Tales game for a handheld console. However, the reception to the game was very mixed, with some places giving it a very positive score and others giving it a very negative one. Points of criticism included the story’s short length, lack of content, unappealing relationship between Caius and Rubia, and more.

The story of Tales of Innocence follows avatars, human reincarnations of the divine Devalokans who can still use supernatural powers from their past lives. They meet up with other avatars, who then travel to do something about the wars engulfing their world.

Though the sequel of Tales of Symphonia, Dawn of the New World introduces a lot of lore and elements that weren’t in the original game. After meeting with Marta, a girl with Ratatosk’s Core on her forehead, the two of them set out on a journey to fix the meteorological problems occurring around the world and escape from Marta’s pursuers.

Tales of Vesperia is a very popular and successful entry in the Tales franchise, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide. The story follows Yuri Lowell, a former soldier who’s now doing odd jobs around his neighborhood. After meeting a noble named Estelle and fleeing from the capital with her, he forms a guild called Brave Vesperia.

Tales of Hearts follows Kor Meteor (Shing Meteoryte) who meets siblings Kohaku and Hisui Hearts. A monster infects Kohaku and in an attempt to save her, Kor accidentally destroys her Spiria (her heart and emotions). The three of them set off on a journey to restore Kohaku’s Spiria.

People don’t talk about the CG Movie Edition, but I definitely that one. People were comparing the models to the Evil Goddess MOCCOS, an old 2ch meme about the ugly KOS-MOS figure that came with the Xenosaga Episode 2 Box Set.

It follows Jude Mathis, a medical student who encounters Milla Maxwell after she breaks into a military research facility in an attempt to destroy a secret weapon. Now that they’re on the run from the military, Jude and Milla, along with their companions, journey to help Milla with her mission to save the world.

Tales of Xillia 2, like Dawn of the New World, is a sequel of its predecessor while introducing elements and lore that the original game never really mentioned. It takes place a year after Xillia and follows Ludger Will Kresnik, a guy who just wants to cook. It turns out he’s not just a good cook, as he possesses the Chromatus. He and the cast from the first Xillia need to go into parallel worlds—essentially what-if scenarios from the first game—and destroy them to prevent their own world’s destruction. He also has to pay off a huge medical debt. Ah, adult life.

Tales of Zestiria was, like Abyss and Xillia, an anniversary title and this time, it was for the 20th anniversary. It draws inspiration from Arthurian legends and it follows the story of Sorey, a young human who can see the mystical spirits Seraphim. He leaves the village of Elysia with his best friend Mikleo and, after forming a pact with the Seraph Lailah, he becomes the Shepherd whose job is to purify the Hellion rampaging throughout Glenwood.

For an anniversary title, Zestiria had its fair share of controversies. Before the game came out, Japanese fans were ticked off about how prominent advertising for Alisha was, yet she was a mere guest party member in the actual game. After it came out, fans seemed split on the story, battle system, and tutorials.

Tales of Berseria technically serves as the prequel to Tales of Zestiria. However, you don’t have to play Zestiria to understand Berseria. One day, tragedy strikes the village and Velvet comes across her brother-in-law Artorius killing her younger brother Laphicet in a ritual. She transforms into a daemon and Artorius tosses her into jail. Once she wakes, she swears vengeance on the man who used to be her family.

Tales of Arise follows the story of Dahnan slave Alphen, or “Iron Mask,” and a Renan girl named Shionne. Like Rebirth and Eternia, it deals with themes of racism and oppression.

Bandai Namco has announced that sales for Tales of Arise have ed 3 million copies. There is a new visual to commemorate this milestone, with all the party (including Nazamil) thanking the player.

The art has a light, pastel aesthetic and shows “3M copies sold. Thank you!” at the bottom. It shows all of the main playable characters, including Alphen without his mask. Nazamil is at the back between Dohalim and Rinwell. She is a major character who appeared in the Beyond the Dawn postgame DLC.

Bandai Namco reached this sales milestone for Tales of Arise in the span of about 3 years. The game first came out in early September 2021 and it was a worldwide release. It reached 1.5 million sales in October 2021, about 48 days after its initial September 10, 2021 release. Then, less than a year later in April 2022, Bandai Namco announced that the game sold 2 million copies. We can see that sales significantly slowed down in between 2022 and 2024, even though the DLC for the game came out in November 2023.

Nonetheless, Tales of Arise is still the best-selling Tales game. It beat out Tales of Symphonia, which has 2.4 million sales, and Tales of Vesperia, which has 2.37 million sales. These numbers are from 2021.

Bandai Namco has lifted the streaming restrictions that were in place for Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn. Players will be able to content from all parts of the game now.

The rule regarding streaming and content creation based on the Beyond the Dawn DLC for Tales of Arise went into place on February 21, 2024. However, people should still put some sort of spoiler warning either in the thumbnail, the beginning of the video, or in the video description. This goes for screenshots as well. Companies usually ask this from fans even after they lift streaming bans so that players who are starting the game later or haven’t gotten as far yet will not spoil themselves on accident.

Beyond the Dawn is the post-game DLC for Tales of Arise. It introduces new character Nazamil, though she is not a playable character. While the DLC content takes place after the game, players are free to start it before they beat the main Tales of Arise story. Since you can’t use your own characters from the base game for the DLC, you won’t have to worry about their level or equipment.

Tales of Arise and the Beyond the Dawn DLC are readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.

The Xbox Game update for the second half of February 2024 and early March 2024 is live, and the games mentioned include Tales of Arise and Soul Hackers 2. We already knew the one RPG would be arriving, and now we know the other is leaving.

Tales of Arise is the latest entry in Bandai Namco’s action-RPG series, and it is on both Xbox Game and the PlayStation Plus game catalog for certain subscription tiers. It follows Alphen and Shionne as they go around their world, dealing with the Renan people’s abuse of power toward the Dahnan people. 

Meanwhile, Atlus’ Soul Hackers 2 is another Shin Megami Tensei series RPG spin-off that is leaving Xbox Game on the last day of February 2024. It follows an AI entity named Ringo as she attempts to work with certain Devil Summoners to save the world.

Bandai Namco announced that Tales of Arise will the Xbox Game cata Japan on February 19, 2024, as well as the PS Plus Game Catalog on February 20, 2024. Other Tales titles will be ing the PS Plus Game Catalog as well.

Sony also detailed various other games that will be ing the PS Plus Game Catalogue on the same day. The PlayStation Plus Extra and catalogue will include Need for Speed Unbound, and The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition for the PS5.

Tales of Arise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Roguebook will be added to both the PS5 and PS4 catalogues. Meanwhile, LEGO Worlds, LEGO Jurassic World, Rogue Lords, and Tales of Zestiria will be the PS4 games added. The PlayStation Classics catalogue will add Resistance: Retribution, Jet Rider 2, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of Vesperia.

Sony also announced recently that the three new PlayStation Plus February 2024 games are Foamstars, Rollerdome, and Steelrising. The three titles ed the subscription service on February 6, 2024.

Tales of Arise and the Beyond the Dawn DLC are immediately available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Tales of Arise will be available on Xbox Game from February 19, and the PS Plus Game Catalog from February 20, 2024.

U-Treasure opened a new wave of pre-orders for its Tales of Arise-themed necklaces. The Japanese jewelry store first revealed the necklaces in December 2021, following the original game's release in September 2021. It re-opened the pre-orders to help celebrate the release of the Beyond the Dawn story expansion DLC on November 9, 2023.

The necklaces are modeled after the six playable party in Tales of Arise, and they are available in two material types: Silver and K18 Gold. All six silver necklaces have the same price tag of ¥14,300 (~$95). Alphen, Shionne, and Dohalim's gold necklaces are priced at ¥88,000 (~$588). Rinwell, Law, and Kisara's gold necklaces will cost even more at ¥110,000 (~$735).

People residing outside Japan and Europe can also place orders for any necklace in the lineup with international shipping via the WorldShipping widget. On the specific item's page, they can click the "Add to Cart" button from the widget instead of the original Japanese page. WorldShopping also has a ¥500 discount coupon that is valid until November 30, 2023.

Pre-orders for the new batch of Tales of Arise necklaces will close on January 4, 2024. U-Treasure will start shipping the finished products on May 7, 2024.

In Tales of Arise, you could get these outfits automatically by simply progressing through the main story. Each figure costs 2970 JPY (this number includes the tax), which would be approximately $19.60.

Bandai Namco is no stranger to sequels in the Tales series, so it's baffling that we got DLC instead of a follow-up to Tales of Arise two years after its release. Beyond the Dawn gives players the chance to revisit Alphen, Shionne, Kisara, and more, but it squanders its potential.

Note: Full spoilers ahead for the base Tales of Arise story. 6o421z

Beyond the Dawn picks up one year after the events of Tales of Arise, immediately spoiling and expecting players to what happened with the reunification of Dahna and Rena. This now singular planet offers some new areas to explore but feels a bit too similar to how Dahna looked and seemed in the original release.

Some places change ever so slightly, such as in the case of Viscint, but it is about 90% the same. This leaves out some of the impact of the reunification event, and the storyline only highlights this flaw more. There is a constant mention of the racial problems between the two races of people, but few actual moments actually delve into that. Much of the story in Beyond the Dawn becomes more tell than show in this regard.

The only true hook in the storyline is the new character Nazamil, who has blood from both races. She starts off weary of the main characters initially, as she is uncertain of their intentions due to her life. However, she eventually gets to know them and cares about them as time es. I like Nazamil as a character, but I feel the game zips through her storyline a bit too quickly, which is unfortunate.

Oddly enough, that sums up my main issue with Beyond the Dawn: it has the chance to fix some of the core flaws with the base game and completely misses the mark. For instance, the entire Rena part of the story felt rushed and incomplete in the base game. In Beyond the Dawn, Nazamil’s storyline and overall plot similarly feels like it didn’t learn from that mistake. It, too, has the same pacing issues.

This is also quite odd since the DLC can take players more than 20 hours to complete. This surprising length results from the expansion's repetitive and somewhat bland dungeons, such as the Mausoleums you explore and the forgettable side quests. Both of these exist solely to pad out time and don’t contribute much else to the overall experience in of excitement or worthy rewards.

Perhaps the oddest part about Beyond the Dawn is how little it changes the gameplay of Tales of Arise. I won’t spoil the story, but there were some character gameplay elements I wanted to see in the base game that were hinted at, which didn’t come true in this DLC. The gameplay is pretty much the same as the core title, except for some new Artes. Making matters worse, the post-game campaign awkwardly requires players to upgrade and unlock Artes which they already purchased in the main story.

Overall, Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn feels like the foundation for a possible sequel that explores Rena and Dahna after they have reunited as a singular planet. However, its DLC format makes it a able but often uninspired and bloated experience. There is a solid opportunity in here somewhere, but this expansion misses the mark at every turn in the extended storyline.

The soundtrack to the Tales of Arise DLC Beyond the Dawn is now streaming. It’s launched alongside the DLC itself on November 9, 2023.

The Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn soundtrack features 38 tracks. These include 33 tracks compiled from the game’s score, plus bonus live studio versions of five songs. These live tracks include “Flame of the New Dawn”, “Follow Your Heart”, “One Strike, One Beat”, “Flame of Hope” and “Don’t Look Back”. These five special versions are also part of the Classic Characters Costume & Arranged BGM Pack DLC so you can hear them in-game, with that add-on also out now. Just like the base game, the soundtrack was produced by long-time series composer Motoi Sakuraba.

The Beyond the Dawn soundtrack is available to stream from multiple services. This include Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and Deezer. It is also available to from iTunes and other stores.

The soundtrack releases alongside the DLC itself and the final part of the prelude novel. In addition, Bandai Namco applied streaming restrictions to the expansion. This is to prevent streams and video content from spoiling the game’s story beyond the “Mausoleum of the Jungle” portion.

The third chapter of the Prelude Novel for Beyond the Dawn, the DLC for Tales of Arise, has been released by Bandai Namco and stars Alphen and Shionne. It involves the two saving a fellow traveler from a Zeugle attack and is titled "Two Who Want to Change."

The chapter is available to read on the Bandai Namco website or on Tales Channel+, where there is an option to include background music. This is the third and final chapter in the Tales of Arise DLC Prelude Novel and focuses on the last of the 6 party , Shionne and Alphen.

The first chapter was called Two Who Remain the Same. It featured Rinwell and Law and was released on November 3, 2023. Kisara and Dohalim featured in the second chapter, titled Two Open to Change, as well as in a skit released back in October, 2023.

Ahead of the release of Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn, Bandai Namco also released a look at the pre-order costumes. It also paved the way for the add on by requesting that players follow certain streaming restrictions once the expansion is newly released.

Tales of Arise is currently available on the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, while Beyond the Dawn is set to release on November 9, 2023.

Bandai Namco released a request for players to follow certain restrictions when streaming Beyond the Dawn, the DLC for Tales of Arise. The request comes ahead of the add-on's launch on November 9, 2023, and Bandai Namco has stated they intend to remove the restrictions "a certain period of time" after release.

Streaming restrictions are not uncommon for story-focused games like the Persona and Danganronpa series, though they can vary in length and severity. Often these requests are intended to allow new players to experience the story unspoiled. This request from Bandai Namco asks that players do not stream or release images of game events after the sealing of the "Mausoleum of the Jungle," though it does not state how far into the DLC this event is. In addition, it asks that spoiler warnings be used in any images and or thumbnails.

Ahead of the release of Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn, Bandai Namco also offered a look at some of the costumes available for pre-ordering the game, or for purchasing a separate Costume and BGM pack set to release the same day.

Bandai Namco requested that players follow streaming restrictions for the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC to before the "Mausoleum of the Jungle" is sealed, and for spoiler warnings to be used on images and videos. The main game is readily available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC while the DLC is set to release on November 9, 2023.

Bandai Namco shared a teaser trailer highlighting the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC pre-order costumes for Alphen and Shionne. There are formal wear outfits for both if people order the add-on ahead of launch.

The brief teaser shows the characters in a relaxed state, so people can see the outfits clearly. Both Alphen and Shionne are wearing matching suits. Each one has a vest and jacket. However, Shionne has shorts in her outfit, while Alphen is wearing pants. His clothing is called Showstopper, while hers is called Limelight. 

 Alphen and Shionne also get unique hairstyles to go with Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC pre-order costumes. Alphen’s is Loose Knot. It features his hair in a ponytail. Shionne’s is Gorgeous Updo. It puts her long hair in a bun.

As a reminder, more cosmetic DLC will be out when Beyond the Dawn appears. There will be a Classic Costumes and Arranged BGM pack that gives every party member an outfit inspired by older Tales heroes.

Tales of Arise is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Beyond the Dawn DLC will arrive on November 9, 2023. Pre-orders are open now.

A teaser video for the Classic Characters Costume and Arranged BGM DLC for Tales of Arise showcased some of the new costumes, as well as new arrangements by composer Motoi Sakuraba. The costumes were originally revealed back in September 2023, but this new video gives us a look at them in motion and our first taste of the Sakuraba arrangements.

The video begins by showing Tales of Arise battle scenes set to four of the new arrangements, interspersed with shots of Sakuraba in the studio. The tracks showcased are: "Follow Your Heart," "One Strike, One Beat," "Flame of Hope," and "Flame of the New Dawn." Then, we get a look at the new Tales of Arise costumes for characters during both cutscenes and special attack animations.

As well as several Tales of games, Sakuraba also worked on the soundtracks for Dark Souls and Star Ocean The Second Story R. Five of his BGM arrangements will appear as part of the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn Classic Characters Costume & Arranged BGM Pack DLC add-on.

Bandai Namco have also recently shared the first and second chapters of the Beyond the Dawn Prelude Novel, as well as the theme song for the DLC.

Tales of Arise is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X, while the Beyond the Dawn DLC is set to release on November 9, 2023. The Classic Characters Costume & Arranged BGM Pack is also set to release on November 9, 2023.

Bandai Namco released the second chapter in the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC Prelude novel. It is titled Two Open to Change, and it focuses on Kisara and Dohalim receiving a letter from Alphen and Shionne.

Chapter 2 is available in English from the Bandai Namco official news website, as well as from the Tales Channel+ website, which includes background music options. Chapter 3 is titled Two Who Want to Change. It will focus Alphen and Shionne, and will appear at a later date.

The first chapter of the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC Prelude novel was released on November 3, 2023. It stars Rinwell and Law, and is titled Two Who Remain the Same. Bandai Namco previously shared a skit starring Dohalim and Kisara that will appear in the Beyond the Dawn DLC.

Bandai Namco also shared a better look at the content, quests, and gameplay that the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC will offer, alongside the DLC’s main key art.

Tales of Arise is immediately available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Beyond the Dawn DLC will come out on November 9, 2023.

Bandai Namco released the first chapter of the Prelude novel introducing the events of the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC. The prelude novel is comprised of three chapters, and chapters 2 and 3 will be available at a later date.

The Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC Prelude novel is available in English through the Tales Channel+ website. Chapter 1 is titled Two Who Remain the Same, and it stars Rinwell and Law as protagonists. The chapter is approximately three pages long, and it includes accompanying images, as well as an option to read alongside background music.

Two more chapters of the Tales of Arise DLC Prelude novel are set to release at a later date. The second one is titled Two Open to Change and it will follow Kisara and Dohalim. Meanwhile Chapter 3 is called Two Who Want to Change and it will focus on Alphen and Shionne.

Bandai Namco recently revealed the opening theme song of the Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn DLC. It is titled “We Still” and is performed by Kankaku Piero.

Tales of Arise is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Before the Dawn DLC will come out on November 9, 2023.
