Sunblink announced that the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Month of Meh, an event introduced in 2024 to celebrate Gudetama, is back for 2025. This will cover the full month and run until May 31, 2025, just like last year. The Friends, Furniture, and Frozen Peaks PC and Switch update is also on the way, with it on the former now and the console on May 22, 2025.

Like in the Gudetama event’s debut in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Nisetama-san appears as a featured NPC for Month of Meh. Your goal as part of this campaign is to photograph him every day for the Nisetama Snap quest, just like we regularly photograph the lazy egg. You’ll also need to collect eggs for the Egg Shrine for rewards. There’s also new furniture and outfit items to collect.

Here’s the new trailer showing it off:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPFC2ZIHmDs

There are some screenshots of the additions this year too:

As for Friends, Furniture, and Frozen Peaks, here’s the list of everything it adds to the PC and Switch versions of Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

  • Call Friend lets you call friends from anywhere.
  • Flowers with Nina and Roseanne appear in new places.
  • Icy Peak Blizzard Peak, Chilly Chambers puzzles, and Snow Village area appear.
  • Item overflow feature lets up to three days worth accumulate if you skip a day or two.
  • Items can go on tables in cabins with furniture stacking.
  • Merry Meadows furniture set is in Crane Game.
  • More friendship points given for two and three-heart gifts.
  • New quests appear, including ones tied to Icy Peak, the Island Champion competition, and Retsuko.
  • Sparkles can be found and swapped for game tickets.
  • Visitors now include Aggretsuko characters like Fenneko, Haida, Gori, and Washimi, Pekkle’s friends Carl and Ruby, Keroppi companions, and Hello Kitty’s Grandma and Grandpa.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is on the Switch, PC, and Apple devices via Apple Arcade now, and the Gudetama Month of Meh event runs May 1-31, 2025. It will eventually come to the PS4 and PS5.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Gets Imagination Celebration Event, Aggretsuko Character

There’s a Hello Kitty Island Adventure update, and it features the return of an old event and the debut of a new Aggretsuko visitor character and a new City Town story quest. The Imagination Celebration is back for the second year in a row, Puko can come to visit, and “Fruitful Friendship” began.

The Imagination Celebration event kicks off again in Hello Kitty Island Adventure on April 18, 2025. This involves finding Mystic Stones to meet certain reward tiers by picking them around Seaside Resort or from doing your Daily Quests. If you do, you can trade them for special medieval and fantasy items at the Resort Plaza temporary shop. The new trailer focuses on how that will work. We have until May 22, 2025 to collect items.

Here’s the latest Imagination Celebration event trailer for Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mthep19u6aw&ab_channel=Sunblink

As far as the new Hello Kitty Island Adventure visitor character goes, it is Puko from Aggretsuko. She’s someone who debuted in the Netflix show based on the character.

The new City Town questline in Hello Kitty Island Adventure involves Keroppi. As you go through it, you can eventually help an orchard grow. This will gain access to new fruits, which you can take to Usahana’s Imagination Cafe to make Fruit Sandos. A handful of screenshots appeared showing that off.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available for the PC, Switch, and iOS devices via Apple Arcade now, and it will come to the PS4 and PS5 as well.

animal crossing new horizons hello kitty island adventure

When it comes to cozy sandbox life sims about anthropomorphic animals, Animal Crossing is king. In recent years, though, especially as it’s more widely available now, Hello Kitty: Island Adventure has gotten people’s attention. While there’s nothing stopping you from playing both, some people might only have time for a single one. So which one should you pick?

Pros and Cons of Animal Crossing: New Horizons 4eo2l

One of the biggest pros in Animal Crossing: New Horizons over Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is the level of personalization you can have on your island. Not only do you have more freedom in what villagers you have wandering around, but you can also completely overhaul the entire island if that’s what you so wish. A lot of creative people have released some really cool content, such as turning their island into an autumn-core paradise or transforming it into a Showa-era Japanese city.

Because Animal Crossing: New Horizons lacks real set goals outside of expanding your town, filling up the museum, paying off your debts, and beautifying the place up, you can spend all day playing it if you wanted to. Perhaps since it’s a live service game that encourages repetitive s, a lot of content in Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is time-gated. For example, you can catch fish all you want, but you can only trade it in or gift it a set number of times a day. This arbitrary lock on how much progress you can accomplish per day may frustrate some players. That being said, Animal Crossing: New Horizons can devolve into that in the early stages of a playthrough as well.

It’s not all perfect, though. A big draw of these cozy life sims is the characters inhabiting your town or island or what have you. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a lot of cute animal friends to potentially move in. But the New Horizons iteration of villagers only have so many lines of dialogue they can say per personality type, and there isn't that much variety in the game. Their canned, repetitive dialogue can get really boring really fast. A lot of my favorite villagers happened to all share a personality type, so I was reading the same jokes or comments every day until I finally moved some out. The lack of bite in some villagers’ personalities also caused a lot of players to become unhappy in the early days of New Horizons, especially if they played previous entires in the series.

Pros and Cons of Hello Kitty: Island Adventure 2r5il

Continuing on from the con I gave for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the characters feel more fleshed out and unique in Hello Kitty: Island Adventure. Even if you read a lot of of the same dialogue lines through your play sessions, it’s not like everyone talks in the same way. Talking to Hello Kitty feels distinct from Keroppi, who also felt like his own character from Pochacco or Daniel.

While I personally consider it a con, some people might like the more quest-oriented play style of Hello Kitty: Island Adventure. Unlocking your island over the course of days or weeks requires more steps than simply collecting Bells and materials. You might have to befriend a certain villager first (which is yet another time-gated mechanic) or complete a prerequisite quest. It might feel more like an RPG than an open-ended life sim. But some players who have trouble staying entertained in a life sim might prefer the somewhat more rigid structure and increased level of activities Hello Kitty: Island Adventure.

Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is also receiving active updates, which introduce new customization options, furniture or clothing, and villagers. This might appeal to someone who's already invested a lot of time in Animal Crossing and are bored of it now.

But if the sheer levels of personalization in Animal Crossing are one of its strongest points, then the lack of customization in Animal Island is its weakest. You don’t have a lot of room to exercise in creativity when it comes to what regions you want and where on the island. This makes sense considering the different relationship you and everyone else have with the island, as well as its scale. When making your avatar, you can only use the parts the game gives you, too.

This last point is very subjective, but I prefer the visuals of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The aesthetic of the game can feel too mobile-y, and the models for the Sanrio mascots don't always match with their appearance on merchandise or in other media.

Which One Should You Play? 5z3l6d

If you want to play a game to play over long sessions at once while providing you an outlet for your creativity, then I recommend Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I personally prefer the co-op in this game more too. It’s always fun to go to my friends’ islands to check out what they’re doing with it or who they moved in. Since there’s no limit on how many Bells you can make per day or anything, you can spend a lot of time just fishing or crafting together, whereas I never stayed long in Hello Kitty: Island Adventure’s co-op mode.

The more quest-heavy nature of the game works well with Hello Kitty’s friend mode. You can complete tasks or fill up a checklist with your friend to unlock some special actions or bonuses. This is really cool, don’t get me wrong. I just personally would prefer to do what I wanted with my buddies without feeling like I have to perform certain tasks for better quality-of-life in my co-op gameplay. Speaking of quests, the RPG-like style of Hello Kitty Island Adventure might cater to some people more than the open sandbox of Animal Crossing does. Though I prefer Animal Crossing and recommend that one, Hello Kitty: Island Adventure has its own pros that might make it someone else’s dream game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on the Nintendo Switch. Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is available on the macOS, iOS, Apple TV, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. PS4, and PS5 versions will come out in 2025.

The Hello Kitty Island Adventure Springtime Celebration is around for everyone, while the Snow & Sound 2.4 update is only for iOS folks.

Sunblink and Sanrio announced not only the return of the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Springtime Celebration event, but the debut of the Snow & Sound update that brings the game up to 2.4. The patch that adds the 2.4 content is only on Apple Arcade as of March 3, 2025. However, Springtime Celebration is live on every platform.

The Springtime Celebration is a cherry blossom festival that involves getting Japanese-themed furniture and kimonos for characters to wear. As you go around the Resort Plaza hub, you’ll see pink petals you can grab or earn them. These can be spent at the event storefront to trade for the customization items. There is also a event with daily rewards, such as hakama outfits. Past items will return.

Here's the 2025 trailer for this year's event:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YgYMYXoBmg

As for Snow & Sound, that Hello Kitty Island Adventure update adds to Icy Peak in 2.4. This is a region that’s been present in-game since launch, and we’d unlock it by completing the initial part of the campaign. Now there are actual homes and cabins there. This update will also expand City Town, for those who unlocked it. In addition to new features, Usahana-related visitors will possibly start showing up if you prepare the right cabins.

The last event to appear was Hugs & Hearts. That is the annual Valentine's Day event in-game.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on the Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade iOS devices, the Springtime Celebration event is live until April 7, 2025, and the Snow & Sound 2.4 update is live on Apple Arcade now.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Hugs & Hearts Event Returns Valentine's Day

Sunblink promised more content is coming to Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and part of that includes the Hugs & Hearts event returning to the game for Valentine’s Day 2025. As in the past, it means catching Lovebugs in the Resort Plaza and caring for them. The activity is live now, and it will be available until February 21, 2025.

This is the second year we’ve seen the Hugs & Hearts event in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, so we know exactly how it works. In the Resort Plaza, there will be a Lovebug Habitat. If you explore that Seaside Resort region, you’ll see Lovebugs roaming around. If you catch them with a net and place them in their new home, you eventually earn rewards. Basically, certain items require certain amounts of bugs. Some of the returning items shown in the trailer include furniture like the Double Heart Bed, Hugs & Hearts Habitat, Heart Lamp, Rockabilly Suit, and Draped Caftan. New items include things like the Heart Wings, Heartwing Cape, and Rose Backpack you can wear on your back or the Heart Arch, Heart Dining Chair, Heart Table, and Heart Divider furniture pieces.

Here’s the new video that shows off all the additions to the game:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLpKaVqQReY&ab_channel=Sunblink

The other event going on is the Luck & Lanterns Celebration. That’s designed to celebrate the Lunar New Year. It started on January 19, 2025. It’s still running now until February 24, 2025. As with Hugs & Hearts, it also appeared in the game in 2024. Just like this event, it involved both new and returning items for us to earn as we'd go through activities and every day.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade. It will also come to the PS4 and PS5. The Hello Kitty Island Adventure Hugs & Hearts Valentine’s Day event will until February 21, 2025.

Interview: Developing Hello Kitty Island Adventure characters

Hello Kitty Island Adventure constantly appears among the top Apple Arcade games, and the Switch and PC versions invited new players to the island resort alongside iconic mascots in 2025. Not to mention PlayStation versions are on the horizon. To find out more about what went into making the game and what’s next, Siliconera spoke with Sunblink Chief Product Officer Chelsea Howe about the title.

Jenni Lada, Siliconera: When did work on the other versions of Hello Kitty Island Adventure begin?

Chelsea Howe, Sunblink: We knew we wanted to cover a broad range of form factors from the start, so multiplatform was always present in the back of our minds. Plus, many aspects of our Apple Arcade development, like optimizing for lower-spec devices, translated across all platforms. We worked with other teams with more specific platform knowledge to do the final development, which started in early 2024.

What sorts of challenges did the team face when preparing the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Switch, PlayStation, and PC ports while also adding new content to the Apple Arcade version of the game?

Howe: The biggest challenge had definitely been keeping timelines organized. Each platform has its own process for approvals, certifications, verifications, patches, and so on. The whole team has gone a bit cross-eyed back-tracking all of the dates based on each platform’s estimated times.

Besides that, it was a matter of nailing the platform’s unique qualities: like getting controller input feeling rock solid for Nintendo Switch or getting Steam Deck Verified for PC.

How will future development and updates for Hello Kitty Island Adventure work, considering there are seasonal events and you added additional characters and regions in the past?

Howe: All platforms should get the same event content at the same time. We’ll be releasing free content updates prior to events to ensure that everyone is experiencing the story and rewards together. Characters and regions require more QA, and while we release storylines bit by bit on Apple Arcade, we’re cognizant of the difference in Nintendo Switch and PC audiences and would like to release things more holistically there. That, in addition to the aforementioned timeline differences, means the update cadence outside of events is likely to be staggered between platforms.

When adding additional Hello Kitty Island Adventure characters, how did you pick which ones would be represented and how they will appear?

Howe: There are two main sources of priority: Sanrio and Sanrio fans! Sanrio has characters they love to spotlight, but we also want to enable fans to befriend their favorite characters in the game.

The latter means paying a lot of attention to the annual Sanrio rankings. It’s also a great excuse to peruse official merchandise and see what folks are most excited about. My Cinnamoroll plushie collection speaks for itself.

What led to Usahana being picked as the City Town representative in Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

Howe: As more of City Town’s story comes out, the big reason will be revealed. For now, let’s just say that she was designed to bring joy, color, and happiness to office workers, so we took that to an even bigger extreme and made a whole city based around her vibrant look and feel.

The whole design of City Town was based on flipping the usual grungy, dirty, busy city trope on its head and having something colorful, clean, optimistic and reflective of Usahana’s heart and spirit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6rFhAXSNHc&ab_channel=Sunblink

Big Challenges is the most obscure Hello Kitty Island Adventure character so far. Who else would you also like to add to the game? Do characters like Spottie Dottie or Kirimichan have a chance of appearing?

Howe: They suuuuuuuuuuure do!

We have such a special place in our hearts for the expectation-defying characters like Kirimichan, Fresh Punch, or Nisetama-san. Nisetama-san is a friend of gudetama – a man literally dressed up as an egg yolk who dances around the world. We were able to spotlight him during Month of Meh last year and look forward to bringing other more niche characters to the game in similar ways that show off their uniqueness.

Could we also see more unorthodox or crossover characters break in as Hello Kitty Island Adventure visitors? For example, perhaps someone like Yoshikitty or from Show by Rock?

Howe: At the moment, the red tape and licensing complexity mean we’re unable to add “collab” characters, as we call them. We have a ton of folks at our office who love Yoshikitty, or Adorozatorumary. My favorite is Gaopoweroo! But alas, it’s simply not to be.

Perhaps if we’re successful enough, the collab partners will come to us asking for inclusion. We can dream, right?

What did you learn as a developer by working on Hello Kitty Island Adventure over the past few years?

Howe: We all learned way, way more about the world of Hello Kitty than we ever knew existed. Most of us were familiar with Hello Kitty, it’s hard not to be, but the quantity of Sanrio characters and decades of lore was unbelievable. Whether it was those niche characters like Big Challenges or the fact that Hello Kitty is not a cat, there was always something to surprise us.

From a game perspective, we’ve learned a lot about mixing the cozy genre with the open world adventure genre. They have a huge overlap in audience, but some things rub the wrong way. Some cozy players want nothing to do with multiplayer, while some open-world players recoil whenever we have customization-based questing. Overall, we think we brought something new to both groups.

In an ideal situation with no restrictions, what sort of biome or additional feature would you like to add to Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

Howe: HOW CAN I PICK JUST ONE?! I’d love a rainforest or jungle area that leaned more heavily into the puzzle caves – or a far future world that did similar. I’ve also always wanted an aspen forest, just because Sunblink is headquartered in Boulder, CO, and those forests—especially with their yellow leaves—are iconic. We also created a character named TOPHAT for the game, and I’ve always wondered what a world in his image would be like.

How long do you think you’ll keep updating and adding new content to Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

Howe: While we have a roap that extends years ahead, it really depends on if folks are continuing to play the game! As long as we have an audience, it just makes sense for us to continue building out the world and enriching the mechanics.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade. It will also come to the PS4 and PS5.

Playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure on the Switch after following it since its Apple Arcade debut means I got to see it grow, and this Animal Crossing style game improved since its debut.

Typically when a game comes out on a new platform, Siliconera doesn’t review it again. After all, there are rarely differences that merit it. In the case of Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Sunblink did so much to the Sanrio game since its Apple Arcade debut that the Switch release genuinely feels like a bigger, stronger, and better Animal Crossing like game.

Part of that involves the campaign. It’s grown since its 2023 debut! Yes, core premise remains unchanged. Your custom avatar ed Sanrio mascots like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Aggretsuko on a flight to Friendship Island so My Melody could open a shop there and others could relax. Upon landing, we find it’s deserted save for an unusual holographic being known as TOPHAT and green blobular characters called Nulls. The group decides to settle there and solve the mystery of the island.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WtDlmTD6w0&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

However, in the years since launch, Sunblink added a lot! New locations like Cloud Island and City Town appeared. More quests expanded the initial storyline, offering more to do with familiar Sanrio characters. Speaking of which, more permanent residents like My Sweet Piano, the Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala, Wish Me Mell, and Usahana became permanent villagers alongside an array of potential visitors who can show up if you decorate cabins that meet their specific needs. Lots of events popped up! Basically, the world felt fuller and we got more ways to interact with folks, which made Hello Kitty Island Adventure feel more like Animal Crossing and like a larger experience.

Said new regions are pretty great. When Cloud Island and City Town, as well as new folks like My Sweet Piano, showed up, they tended to add new items, cooking options, recipes, and capabilities. My Sweet Piano unlocked the ability to further customize furniture, which is great if you really get into the interior decorating elements present. (It almost makes Hello Kitty Island Adventure feel a little like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.) Cloud Island takes you up into the sky for new gathering, new furniture, more quests, and cotton candy recipes. Once you get to City Town in the campaign, you gain access to the Imagination Cafe and its restaurant management elements. Not to mention, all regions in the game feel distinct and can be a lot of fun to explore as you search for crafting elements, so it’s just generally pleasant.

Said exploring also feels so much better in Hello Kitty Island Adventure upon its Switch launch, and it isn’t just about the controller-based control scheme instead of virtual joysticks and touchscreen ones. A lot of quality of life adjustments came up between 2023 and this 2025 wider launch, with platforming feeling tighter and more accurate than before. Additional accessibility options, such a glimmer of light that can lead you to quest objectives if you enable it, don’t hurt either. A lot of quirks I experienced when playing through the game at the Apple Arcade launch, as well as limitations tied to only basic content being present at the time, are gone. It makes a huge difference!

I found it all also made it easier to appreciate and bond with the Hello Kitty Island Adventure characters in the Switch release, making it feel more relaxed like Animal Crossing. At launch, it could be a bit of a chore to find things everyone would like and get opportunities to interact with them. While part of it is probably due to now having coming up on two years of experience with the title, Sunblink clearly made adjustments in its many updates and patches that addressed potential frustrating points.

These additions and changes also make Hello Kitty Island Adventure feel a bit more balanced. Quests appear at a steady rate, as do season events. The range of visitors, their diverse needs, and the number of cabins mean you can now gradually work on making Friendship Island homier at your own pace. There are still some errand simulator elements, since friendship with characters can be tied to giving gifts and will naturally go up when certain deliveries are made as part of questlines. However, since there’s so much to do now, you can avoid feeling inundated if you take your time as you play. It also means more puzzle options when going to different areas, and that you'll probably find it easier to get those Apple Slices needed to get your stamina up to properly climb and explore everywhere.

Playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure on the Switch after following it since its Apple Arcade debut means I got to see it grow, and this Animal Crossing style game improved since its debut. Sunblink put a lot of work in, both in of quality of life changes, additional quests, more events, and new content. I’d recommend someone play it more now than I did before.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Switch Release Date Set

A Hello Kitty Island Adventure Switch release date appeared in the latest trailer for the Animal Crossing-like game. People who have been waiting to play it on Nintendo’s console/handheld can pick that up on January 30, 2025. This is over two years after its Apple Arcade debut back in June 2023. Update: Sanrio and Sunblink confirmed that is also the release date for the PC version of the game.

Here’s the full video looking at Hello Kitty Island Adventure on the Switch. It begins with an overview of the island, before moving on to gameplay that shows players’ unique avatar exploring alongside Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty. We also get to see the avatar customization system, puzzle solving, photo mode, and crafting. The relationship-building and events come up at about the one minute mark. Towards the end, we get to see how we can decorate cabins on the island to attract visitors. (Said visitors are other famous Sanrio mascots.)

While this trailer only confirms the Hello Kitty Island Adventure release date for one platform, we do know it will come to another that day as well. We learned it would go multiplatform once the game had been on Apple Arcade for a year. At the time, Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC versions were confirmed, with the Switch and PC ones set to arrive first. The Steam product page there still mentioned a Q1 2025 window as of 10:30am ET on December 13, 2024, but it is confirmed it will debut on January 30, 2025 too.

In the meantime, the Apple Arcade version of the game continues to get updates and events. Pompompurin's Halloween and fall event showed up recently, as did one for Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary.

The Hello Kitty Island Adventure Switch and PC release date is set for January 30, 2025, and it is available on iOS and Macs now via Apple Arcade. The game will also come to the PS4 and PS5 in 2025.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Fall Event Involves Pompompurin

There’s a Days of Plenty fall event in Hello Kitty Island Adventure starting on November 17, 2024, and this time Pompompurin is a major player. The official art for it shows the character alongside Hello Kitty and the player avatars. This means there will also be new rewards to earn.

Here’s the trailer for the fall event. It begins with Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Pochacco, and two player avatars emerging from a pile of leaves. This will be a trend throughout the event, as you’ll run through piles like these in-game to get items to trade at the Resort Plaza hub for new customization items for characters and cabins. We get to see some of these fall-themed items firsthand after that, with characters in decorated homes in the new outfits. We also get to see what the in-game leaf piles will look like, so we know how to spot them, and the stand where we can trade for new in-game merchandise.

Haunted by Daylight 3g17s

I always enjoy when a Halloween event goes beyond some decorations here and there, some skins, and some quests. Fortunately, Dead by Daylight does just that with the Haunted by Daylight event. This horror multiplayer game has a new mod that swaps out the one hunter versus four players for two hunters going up against eight players in ridiculous chaos.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Gets Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary Event

Sanrio and Sunblink announced that there is now a Hello Kitty 50th anniversary event in-game that involves popping bubbles, collecting bows, finding Collectible Cards, and taking part in a new quest. While some of these are limited time activities only available until November 15, 2024, the new quest will be around even after the event ends.

The temporary activities are designed to provide chances to get new furniture, clothing, and accessories. The Collectible Card sets appear across the islands throughout the event. Getting all 50 gets you a 50th Gala Outfit. The popping bubble activities are tied to new event recipes like 50th Anniversary Cake and 50th Anniversary Latte. If you find bows based on Hello Kitty’s, you can trade them in at the Resort Hub station to get new decorations and accessories. Themed furniture and outfits also appear.

As for the quest, it unlocks as you progress through the campaign. The goal is to prepare a birthday party for Hello Kitty, to tie in with her anniversary. Once you finish the event, you’ll gain access to the attic in My Melody’s shop.

Here’s the trailer for the Hello Kitty Island Adventure 50th anniversary festivities:

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Spooky Celebration Halloween Event Returns

As Hello Kitty Island Adventure is an Animal Crossing style life sim, that means that there are recurring seasonal events around holidays like Halloween in the game, and the Spooky Celebration is kicking off ahead of October 2024. Sanrio and Sunblink revealed it returned with new rewards. It will remain active until November 4, 2024, and a Fall Fashion Frenzy event will also accompany it.

The Spooky Celebration first honored Halloween in Hello Kitty Island Adventure back in the 1.2 update in September 2023. At the time it was introduced, it involved a new storyline featuring Kuromi, the Sanrio mascot often depicted alongside My Melody. Once again, both characters will remain notable stars of the event. Our goal will be to trick or treat with residents to get goodie bags for rewards. The new cosmetic rewards this time around include gothic lolita dresses and suits, wings, and other accessories. The trailer for the event also teases the new trick or treating activities with Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, and My Melody, as well as shows where we can exchange items at the Resort Plaza hub. If you’ve already unlocked the My Sweet Piano customization options in My Melody’s shop, you can also change the colors on the furniture you earn during the event.

Here’s the latest trailer for Hello Kitty Island Adventure highlighting the Halloween event.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtGRu4AsBcA&ab_channel=Sunblink

The Fall Fashion Frenzy isn’t highlighted in this trailer. However, Sunblink made it sound like a typical event where we get new color options of past clothing for showing up to play regularly.

While this is an update on a past event, there is also a lot of new content that recently debuted in-game. In September 2024, City Town showed up as the new region. When you go there, you can meet Usahana. She’s the latest Sanrio staple to be added as a character to befriend.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on Apple devices via Apple Arcade, the 2.0 update is live, and the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC versions launch in 2025. The Hello Kitty Island Adventure Spooky Celebration runs until November 4, 2024.

Usahana, City Town Hello Kitty Island Adventure in 2.0 Update

Sanrio and Sunblink recently teased a new Hello Kitty Island Adventure update, and now Usahana and the City Town region are available alongside 2.0. The new region, characters, and activity are live, and a Jam Jamboree event is also temporarily live.

There isn’t a full list of 2.0 update additions in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, besides the confirmation of Usahana, City Town, and a custom Imagination Cafe for us to develop, but there are a number of changes tied to the new place. We can find new CDs, and it seems new recipes are also on the way. However, you do need to get access to the boat and repair it, then depart from the Resort Plaza, to reach the new place.

Here’s the new trailer. While it starts by showing City Town and Usahana in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, by the 10 second mark we get to see the Imagination Cafe we get to run. The UI there shows we can do things like order ingredients for things and open a cafe. It also seems like it will be possible to upgrade locations there. Sanrio characters we’ve met will show up as customers there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcieX5QCy9w&ab_channel=Sunblink

There’s no video of the new event. The Jam Jamboree takes place on the main island. You play minigames with Cinnamoroll and My Melody to make jam. As usual, a store will appear. Going there with jars lets you get special cosmetics and furniture. That only runs until September 24, 2024.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on Apple devices via Apple Arcade, the 2.0 update is live, and the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC versions launch in 2025.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure 1st Anniversary Update Arrives

On July 28, 2024, Hello Kitty Island Adventure launched on Apple Arcade, and a first anniversary update added the Friendship Festival, the ability to have two companions with your avatar, new outfits, and a song from MYLK. While the song isn’t available to hear outside the game yet, a new trailer showed off this year’s version of the event and some of the new clothing options.

The biggest addition is the 2024 version of the Friendship Festival in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, which is an update on the Launch Celebration from 2023. The new outfits present all seem to be additional pieces of formal wear, carrying on the tradition from the original launch event. Between July 25, 2024 and August 8, 2024, people can take part in Group Photo quests to earn Friendship Charms. Those charms can be exchanged at the Photo Booth in Resort Plaza for emotes and outfits. The ability to now ask two Sanrio characters to you as you explore the island and take photos is also new in honor of the activity.

As for the MYLK song, it is written by Phill Boucher. People will need to take part in the event and play the game to unlock it. Once they do, there will be an in-game segment where people will see the Sanrio characters dance along with the track.

Here’s the full Hello Kitty Island Adventure first anniversary Friendship Festival trailer. It also features the new horse avatar option prominently, which we saw added in June 2024.
