Good Smile Company announced three figures of Steins;Gate characters Kurisu Makise, Mayuri Shiina, and Suzuha Amane in swimsuits, and they can be purchased separately or together in a bundle. Alone, they cost ¥18,700 / $193.99 each. If you buy all three at once, they are ¥55,000 / $565.99. These will launch in Japan in May 2026, with a worldwide release coming sometime in Q4 2026. All of them are based on their appearances in the games and anime.

All of these are static figures. So you can’t change face plates or arm parts to alter their expressions or poses. However, each one does feature a different position so they can be paired together or showcase various poolside activities. Kurisu is holding an innertube that matches her swimsuit and a soda. She’s also still got her necktie on from her daily attire. Suzuha, given her background, is holding a water pistol. Meanwhile, Mayuri holds a transparent beach ball that resembles the Metal and Fairy Upa from the series.

Each one of these characters is a 1/7 scale figure. That means they’ll all be between 9-11 inches tall. So Kurisu is about nine and a half inches (240mm). Suzuha is slightly taller, since she’s holding her pistol up, but she’s still around 10 inches (260mm). Mayuri is the tallest, since she’s holding the beach ball up over her head, so she beats the other too and reaches for almost 11 and a half inches (290mm).

Here are two official photos of all three of the Steins;Gate characters together, so you can get a sense of scale for all of the figures.

And here are some close-ups that offer better looks at Kurisu, Mayuri, and Suzuha’s faces.

Finally, there are Good Smile Company Store bonus items available. One is only available if you buy the bundle that includes all three figures. The other three are piecemeal items that come when you buy just one. Collector’s cards of Kurisu, Mayuri, and Suzuha come with the solo figures. If someone buys the collection, they get a 60cm x 40cm tapestry that features the art of all three heroines in their swimsuits.

Here’s how those bonus items look:

The Steins;Gate figures of characters Kurisu Makise, Mayuri Shiina, and Suzuha Amane in swimsuits will come to Japan in May 2026 and launch worldwide in Q4 2026. Pre-orders are open until June 4, 2026. The original game is available on the PS3, Vita, and PC worldwide, and it also appeared on the PS4, PSP, Xbox 360, and mobile devices in Japan. Steins;Gate Elite is available on the Switch, PS4, and PC worldwide, as well as the Vita and mobile devices in Japan. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Steins;Gate Re;Boot revealed

Mages has revealed Steins;Gate Re:Boot at the franchise's 15th anniversary event. This announcement also served as the climax of the anniversary's celebration project that started in September 2023.

The company has strongly implied that Re:Boot will appear as a remake of the series' inaugural entry. The newly published teaser trailer features a year count that started from 2009. That was when the original Steins;Gate first appeared on the Xbox 360 in Japan.

Mages has since also ported the original Steins;Gate for PC, PSP, PS3, PS Vita, PS4, iOS, and Android devices. The PC version is still available to purchase worldwide via Steam.

In the Japanese press release, Mages noted that unlike Steins;Gate Elite which used illustrations from the anime adaptation, the series' original illustrator Ryohei "huke" Fuke is redrawing the character designs based on his newer skill levels as of 2024. In addition to the new graphics, Mages will also add some new elements to the game's storyline in Re:Boot.

The official teaser trailer for Steins;Gate Re:Boot is available to watch via Mages' official YouTube channel:

Steins;Gate Re:Boot will be available in 2025. Mages has yet to announce platforms for the new game as of the initial reveal in late October 2024.

steins;gate gelbana drink

We live in a timeline where not only does the gelbana exist, but it actually tastes good?! M.G.K. will release a Steins;Gate gelbana drink on October 28, 2024. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The drink depicts a bunch of bananas, ripped apart at a molecular level and turned into a green gelatinous substance, on the label. According to it, it is a soft drink with about 150 mg of caffeine in it. It costs 540 JPY ($3.60) per bottle, and each bottle is around 50 ml. The Steins;Gate gelbana drink contains soft-shelled turtle extract (not exactly an uncommon ingredient in Japan), sugar, honey, carrot extract, and more. Because of the caffeine, you should only drink a bottle a day.

This is part of the 15th anniversary campaign for Steins;Gate. Other products include acrylic keychains and thirteen different kinds of whipping cream. These products appeared in stores on October 15, 2024. There are thirteen different flavors of whipping cream and thirteen different acrylic keychains for all of the characters and mascots in the series. Each can costs 2500 JPY or roughly $16.70.

Steins;Gate is readily available on the PS4, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You can also watch the show on streaming services like Netflix. MAGES has confirmed that the video game series will continue in the future.

steins;gate monogatari collaboration

Information has come out about the Steins;Gate and Monogatari crossover that the Steins;Gate X (formerly known as Twitter) teased on September 12, 2024. There will be three parts to the collaboration: a Tokyo Tower event, an Animax Cafe, and a pop-up shop.

You can watch the trailer for the Steins;Gate and Monogatari collaboration here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR4shOZ_UB4

This is part of the 15th anniversary for both series. The promotional art shows the characters of Steins;Gate wearing the same outfits as the Monogatari characters, and vice versa. Some of them are even posing like their counterparts.

As of the time of writing, there aren’t a lot of details about each part of the collaboration. The Animax Cafe and Tokyo Tower events will be in mid-October 2024. Meanwhile, the pop-up shop will be in mid-November 2024. More details on them will appear closer to the dates. It’s more than plausible that you’ll be able to buy merchandise of the characters wearing each other’s clothes.

Steins;Gate is a visual novel that’s part of the Science Adventure series. It focuses on the concept of time travel and parallel universes. The main character is Okabe “Okarin” Rintaro, an eccentric “mad scientist” who is capable of detecting changes between different timelines. As for the Monogatari series, it is a series of light novels that follow Koyomi Araragi, a former vampire and current high schooler. Thanks to his past experiences with the supernatural, he can help girls in his school and neighborhood with their own oddity-related (and personal) problems.

The Steins;Gate and Monogatari collaboration will start in mid-October 2024.

steins;gate monogatari

The official Steins;Gate seems to be teasing an crossover with the Monogatari series. More information on it will come out in the near future.

The Tweet in question reads like Okabe is saying it, saying that the operation is going well. Then, the speaker reacts with shock at some emojis. After they recover, they say that this is yet another choice of Steins Gate and then end the message with El Psy Kongroo, which is the customary way Okabe ends his phone calls.

The emojis in the Tweet are a crab, a snail, a monkey, a snake, a cat, a flower, and then two vampires. These emojis in this order seem to be a reference to the Monogatari series of light novels. In Monogatari, main character Koyomi Araragi helps the girls he encounters in school or around town with problems that have to do with supernatural oddities. In Hitagi Crab, he helps his classmate and future girlfriend Hitagi Senjogahara with a crab that stole her weight. Then, in Mayoi Mai Mai (Snail), he helps a lost girl named Mayoi Hachikuji return home. And so on and so forth.

More information on what Steins;Gate has in store with Monogatari will appear in the future. Steins;Gate is readily available on the PS4, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You can watch the anime adaptation on Crunchyroll.

kurisu makise steins;gate figure

Good Smile Company is re-releasing a scale figure of Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate. Pre-orders for the figure will close on August 21, 2024.

The Japanese version of the figure costs 35,800 JPY and will come out in June 2025. Meanwhile, the one on the American site costs $205.99 and will come out in Q4 2025. The figure being referred to as such seems to be due to the number of divergence meters around her. Illustrator huke is the one who designed this figure, and huke was also the character designer for the original game.

Steins;Gate is a science fiction adventure game from the same creators of Chaos;Head and Anonymous;Code. The story has a lot of time travel elements, featuring protagonist Rintaro “Okarin” Okabe” using his Reading Steiner ability to try and alter the events of the future. There is also an anime adaptation for the story.

The Steins;Gate Reading Steiner scale figure of Kurisu Makise is available for pre-order on Good Smile Company until August 21, 2024.

It features Kurisu leaning against a tower of old PCs and divergence meters. Reading Steiner in Steins;Gate refers to the ability to events from other world lines.

Steins;Gate Kurisu Makise Nendoroid 2.0 Version Appears

New versions of existing figures were among the Good Smile Company Smile Fest 2024 announcements this year. One of them was a painted prototype of the Steins;Gate Kurisu Makise Nendoroid 2.0 design, which we should see showing up for sale in the near future.

The updated version of the Nendoroid features the character in the same outfit as the original. She’s wearing a brown coat that hangs off of her shoulders, a red tie, black shorts, and black boots. The figure will come with hand parts that let her cross her arms over her chest.

Here’s the official photo of the prototype:

https://twitter.com/GoodSmile_US/status/1804096826246615110

To compare, here’s what the original Kurisu Nendoroid looked like back when it debuted in 2011. While no accessories were shown with the 2.0 prototype, it is possible she could come with a brown envelope and cell phone again.

There have been multiple Kurisu Nendoroids over the years. The original variant was the 130th figure in the line that Good Smile Company made. She came out in January 2011, and that was followed by rereleases in September 2011 and September 2013. A version of her in her white coat appeared at Wonder Festival Winter 2011. However, the most recent Good Smile Figure of the character wasn’t a Nendoroid. It was of her in a wedding dress.

The Steins;Gate Kurisu Makise Nendoroid 2.0 version is on the way. You can find the game on the PS3, PS4, PSP, Vita, Xbox 360, PC, and mobile devices in various regions. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Steins;Gate 15th Anniversary Year Project

Mages and Nitroplus opened a new website for the Steins Gate 15th anniversary year project. This is to mark the 14th anniversary, since the game first came out for Xbox 360 in Japan on October 15, 2009. The companies will hold numerous projects and collaborations to prepare for the grand celebration of the 15th anniversary on October 15, 2024.

As the first collaboration project, Mages will enact Operation Gladsheim at the Akihabara Radio Kaikan building from September 23 to October 20, 2023. Store visitors who purchase at least 1,000 yen in a single receipt will receive a bonus Steins;Gate sticker that changes every week. Mages will also set up a special exhibit on the 10th floor on October 13-15, 2023. Kanako Ito, the singer of Steins;Gate's theme songs, will hold a live concert on the building's rooftop on the climax day on October 15, 2023.

Even before this 15th anniversary year project started, Mages has been working on multiple merchandise tie-ups with a focus on Kurisu Makise, the main heroine of Steins Gate. It revealed Kurisu's dress-up merchandise lottery with Magic Kuji Online in August 2023 and a wedding dress figure with Good Smile Company in July 2023.

Steins;Gate — including the enhanced Elite edition — is available on the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, PS Vita, PS4, Switch, PC, iOS, and Android devices.

Kurisu Four Seasons Lottery

Mages, the developer of the science fiction visual novel Steins;Gate, scheduled an August release for the Dress-Up Kurisu Makise merchandise lottery powered by Magic Kuji Online. It prepared four illustrations of the main heroine of Steins;Gate Kurisu Makise for this lottery. Further details regarding the merchandise, their prices, and a release date will be revealed on August 16, 2023. Currently, the lottery is only available in Japan.

A new promotional video for the lottery has been released. In it, we can see the four new illustrations of Kurisu Makise in full color.

All four of the new illustrations share the motif of the “four seasons.” Kurisu’s spring outfit is a bright, bunny and colorful-egg-themed ensemble. Her summer outfit is breezy, with a classic white, flowing dress with straw hat blowing in the wind. Her autumn outfit is Halloween-themed, equipped with purple and orange accents, frilly frills and candy decorations. Lastly, her winter outfit depicts Kurisu in a knightly fashion with deep blue bows accentuating her attire. The four new outfits illustrated for the lottery are teased to have been designed by cosplay-designer Mayuri Shiina, another central character in Steins;Gate.

The Steins;Gate Magic Kuji “Dress-Up Kurisu Makise” merchandise lottery will begin mid-August 2023 in Japan. More details regarding merchandise and pricing will come on August 16, 2023. The game is available on the PS3, Vita, PC, and iOS devices worldwide. It is also on the Xbox 360, PS4, PSP, and Android devices in Japan.

Makise Kurisu wedding dress figure

Kahotan from Good Smile Company revealed that the company is working on a new Steins;Gate figure of Makise Kurisu wearing a wedding dress. So far, only a gray unpainted prototype of the figure has been shown. The figure was revealed on July 25, 2023 to coincide with Kurisu’s birthday. [Thanks, Kahotan!]

The scale of the figure has not been revealed yet, but it will be a static figure. The base of the figure reads OSHMKUFA 2010, which is a reference to the year the first game is set and to various Steins;Gate characters. The characters it references are Okabe Rintaro, Shiina Mayuri, Hashida Itaru, Makise Kurisu, Kiryu Moeka, Urushibara Luka, Faris NyanNyan, and Amane Suzuha.

You can take a better look at the new Steins;Gate figure of Makise Kurisu wearing a wedding dress in the Tweet below.

https://twitter.com/gsc_kahotan/status/1683673429894123521

Makise Kurisu is the deuteragonist in the Steins;Gate series, and due to her popularity she inspired plenty of figures with different themes and variants. For example, one version of the character wears a bunny outfit, and another is of Kurisu posing alongside a stack of old computers.

On March 2023, two Pop Up Parade figures of protagonist duo Rintaro and Kurisu were revealed to be in development at the time.

The Steins;Gate Makise Kurisu wedding dress version figure is currently in development at Good Smile Company.

steins;gate live-action

Chiyomaru Shikura, formerly the chairman and executive director of Mages, shared some information of what could have been regarding a live-action adaptation of Steins;Gate. Apparently, there had been talks of a live-action show after the anime for the game ended. The deal ended up falling through due to disagreements over the main actor. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Shikura had been very optimistic about the live-action show, because the producer who would have handled it was someone whose work he ired. He did not name the producer or the studio that would have worked on the live-action Steins;Gate adaptation. During discussions though, the studio stated that it wanted a Johnny’s actor to play protagonist Rintaro Okabe. Shikura joked that single request caused a divergence in the timeline.

Though Shikura likes Johnny’s, he thought it was an unreasonable request because he didn’t think a Johnny’s actor could fit as Okarin. But he decided to go ahead anyway and requested Tomoya Nagase, whom he thought could portray Okarin. However, the producer replied that they couldn’t get Nagase and the decision on who to cast was not in the producer’s hands anyway. As a result, Shikura decided to turn down the offer, and thus the Steins;Gate live-action drama never came to be.

Steins;Gate (the anime adaptation) is available on streaming services such as Crunchyroll. The original game is available on consoles such as the PS4 and mobile devices.

What's the Best Video Game TV Show or Movie Adaptation?

Everyone's talking about how this The Last of Us HBO TV show is the best and how it's an example of a video game adaptation done right. Not to mention there's The Super Mario Bros Movie out now, acting as an adaptation of Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser's story. It might get people wondering what else is out there to watch. Well, now's as good of a time as any to share some suggestions as to also irable adaptations worth watching.

Steins;Gate was honestly an amazing show with a wonderful aesthetic, great pacing, and a genuinely gripping story. I've never played the original visual novel but from what I've heard, it seems to be a fairly faithful adaptation that did the source material justice. While it didn't necessarily make me want to play the game (I mean, it kind of feels like the Steins;Gate show did a great job of covering everything already), it did make me go around and recommend it to everybody and anybody. So if you've never watched Steins;Gate and you like sci-fi with a touch of surprisingly sweet romance, I highly suggest that you put that on your to-watch list. -- Stephanie

If you haven’t watched any of the Persona anime adaptations yet, maybe you should? These adaptations are honestly all pretty great examples of some of the best TV shows and movies based on video games. The Persona 3 movies are good, but I really recommend Persona 4: The Animation and Persona 5: The Animation. Especially if you maybe want to catch up and played one version of the games, but don’t want to spend a couple hundred hours going through them again. They tend to hit all the plot points, all while looking amazing. -- Jenni

steins;gate figures

Kahotan from Good Smile Company has shown off the Rintaro Okabe and Kurisu Makise Pop Up Parade figure prototypes from Steins;Gate. The Rintaro figure is in a further stage of development than the Kurisu one. From the picture, it seems that the Kurisu figure has not been painted yet. [Thanks, Kahotan!]

Since they are Pop Up Parade figures, you will not be able to change their poses. Generally speaking, Pop Up Parade figures are fairly small as well. The figures are both still in development, so there might be some changes in the sculpting or color for the final product.

Kurisu Makise is a widely popular character when it comes to figures. Good Smile Company previously released several scale figures of her in various poses and outfits. For example, there is one of her in a bunny outfit, as well as one of her posing with a number of computers.

In Steins;Gate, Rintaro and Kurisu are the male and female leads, respectively. Rintaro, or Okarin, is the self-proclaimed mad scientist and Kurisu is a genius when it comes to neurology and physics. The story of Steins;Gate kicks off when Rintaro discovers Kurisu’s dead body, only to discover later that Kurisu is actually alive. The plot focuses on the concept of time travel through the use of text messages and a microwave oven.

The Steins;Gate Pop Up Parade figures of Rintaro and Kurisu are in development at Good Smile Company.
