Ghost of Yōtei, sequel to Ghost of Tsushima was announced during the September 2024 State of Play showcase. Set in 1603, the game follows a new protagonist, Atsu, as he journeys through the treacherous lands surrounding Mount Yōtei.

The trailer showcases a vast open world filled with new environments, including sprawling grasslands and snowy tundras, offering a contrast to its predecessor. Players can expect a range of threats, from rival ronin to hostile factions, all hunting Atsu as he seeks to uncover the mysteries of the region in this sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. 

In case you missed it, Ghost of Tsushima reached a major milestone back in January 2022, with Sony confirming the game sured 8 million copies sold. Originally launched in July 2020, the game saw continued success with the release of the Director’s Cut, which included the Iki Island expansion. This update followed previous milestones of 5 million copies sold within its first four months and 6.5 million by March 2021.

Ghost of Yōtei is Slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5. Ghost of Tsushima is available on the PS4. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is also available for the PS4 and PS5.

Just ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2024, Sony announced a State of Play broadcast will appear in September. To be specific, the broadcast will be held on September 24, 2024 at 3pm PST/6pm EST/12am CET (the following day). It will be broadcast on Twitch and YouTube, with Japanese and English language options available.

Sony also shared details concerning co-streaming of the live broadcast. Those who co-stream will want to keep in mind that copyrighted music may play during the broadcast, which could result in a strike for the co-streaming channel. However, Sony does encourage co-streaming of the September State of Play.

Information concrete details about what could show up during the State of Play has not been shared. But Sony generally uses this time to showcase a plethora of games, either through the release of additional trailers and game announcements. And in this case, Sony has shared that news concerning over twenty PlayStation 5 and PSVR2 games will appear in the broadcast.

The Sony State of Play that took place on January 2024 features a total of fifteen different games. This included the likes of Stellar Blade. In the past, games series such as Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and God of War have also appeared as part of the program.

The State of Play will held on September 24, 2024 at 3pm PST/6pm EST/12am CET.

Sony announced that it will hold its State of Play for PS5 and PlayStation VR 2 games ahead of Summer Game Fest on May 30, 2024. People will be able to tune in at 3pm PT/6pm ET for the 30 minute showcase.

There are no details about exact PS5 and PSVR 2 games that will appear during the State of Play, but Sony did note 14 will appear. It didn’t offer a breakdown or division discussing how many will be for the VR headset or for the system itself. It did confirm that the showcase will be on YouTube and Twitch, as usual. This falls in line with what we’ve come to expect from past entries in this showcase series. For example, the January 2024 installment highlighted 15 games for the PS5. 

May 30, 2024 will be a packed day for game showcases. The State of Play will air at the exact same time as the Marvelous Game Showcase. Both will be followed by the Silent Hill Transmission event. That will air at 4pm PT/7pm ET. However, since the Sony and Marvelous showcases are each 30 minutes long, they will be done in time for Konami’s event.

Sony will hold the State of Play for PS5 games on May 30, 2024 at 3pm PT/6pm ET.

Kojima Productions revealed a new trailer for Death Stranding 2 On The Beach and its full name during the January 2024 State of Play. The sequel will bring Sam Bridges to Mexico and new parts of Earth after reconnecting America and is set for a 2025 release.

The new Death Stranding 2 On The Beach trailer is 9 minutes and 40 seconds long. The footage shows new environments like a desert area, the DHV Magellan ship that Fragile commands to back up Sam, as well as brand new characters and the return of familiar faces.

Death Stranding 2 is a sequel to the 2019 original game. The game was initially announced during The Game Awards 2022 alongside its first trailer. No new information has appeared ever since its initial reveal. Back in May 2022, Norman Reedus confirmed his involvement in DS2 prior to its official reveal.

Death Stranding 2 is currently in development for PS5, and it will release in 2025. The original Death Stranding was released for the PlayStation 4, and the Death Stranding Director’s Cut version is available on PS5 and PC, and it added new side content.

Sony announced that the next State of Play will take place on January 31, 2024 at 2pm PT/5pm ET/10pm GMT. The first State of Play of 2024 is set to feature over 15 new PS5 games, including extended looks at Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin.

The first State of Play in 2024 will feature looks at new games coming to the PS5 and PlayStation VR2 in 2024 and beyond. The company did not reveal what titles would be shown during the broadcast beyond Stellar Blade, which is slated for release in 2024, and Rise of the Ronin, which is set to release on March 22, 2024.

Although Sony did not revealed who will be in attendance, the company noted that the first broadcast in 2024 will have special guest appearances from "some of the most talented minds in gaming." The stream is planned to run for over 40 minutes and will stream on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok.

The previous State of Play in September 2023 featured games like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ghostrunner 2, Helldivers, Spider-Man 2, Tales of Arise, Honkai: Star Rail, Foamstars, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Sony recently released a trailer of games slated to be coming in 2024 which included clips of games like Dragon's Dogma 2, Foamstars, Concord, Forever Skies, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, The Casting of Frank Stone, and Silent Hill 2. Most of the games shown either had a slated release date for the first quarter of 2024 or had not yet been given release dates.

During Sony’s February 2023 State of Play, the company announced five new PSVR 2 games. The new titles are Before Your Eyes, Foglands, Green Hell, Journey to Foundation, and Synapse. Only Before Your Eyes has a confirmed release date of March 10, 2023. The rest will appear sometime during 2023, with Journey to Foundation confirming a release window of Fall 2023.

Before Your Eyes is an award winning narrative story about a recently deceased soul reminiscing back on their life, and it is developed by GoodbyeWorld Games.

Foglands is an atmospheric sci-fi western roguelike, in which the player delves deep into a world coated with a toxic fog. It is being developed by Well Told Entertainment.

Synapse is a stylish and fast-paced shooter with telekinetic powers, and a striking presentation in black and white, with purple neon accents for the telekinetic powers. It is developed by nDreams.

The five new PSVR 2 games will be appearing on PS5 throughout 2023. The PSVR 2 headset is immediately available, and it is compatible with PlayStation 5. Recently, Capcom announced that Resident Evil 4 remake will include a VR Mode.

Developer KO_OP announced the release date for Goodbye Volcano High during the February 2023 Sony State of Play. In addition, a new story and gameplay trailer showed off more of what people can expect from the game. Goodbye Volcano High will release for the PS4, PS5, and PC on June 15, 2023.

Initially scheduled to release in 2020, the new 2D adventure drama from KO_OP got delayed into 2023. The game will include PS5-exclusive features, such as the use of PS5’s DualSense haptic to enhance the experience.

Not only is a Pokemon Presents coming in February 2023, but Sony announced a February 23, 2023 State of Play. The presentation will appear at 1pm PT/4pm ET. and 10pm CET. (That’s 6am JST on February 24, 2023.) As usual, PS4, PS5, and PSVR games will all show up. However, Sony also confirmed there will be an extended look at the Rocksteady and Warner Bros third-person, multiplayer game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

People will be able to watch the February 2023 State of Play on both YouTube and Twitch, as usual. Co-streaming will be allowed. The US announcement didn’t offer a set time, but the Japanese announcement said it will last 45 minutes. The English PlayStation Blog reveal did note that the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League segment will last for 15 minutes. It will also come at the end of the event, so people can spend the first 30 minutes seeing new PS4, PS5, and PSVR 2 announcements.

The next State of Play will appear at 1pm PT/4pm ET. and 10pm CET on February 23, 2023 and is expected to be 45 minutes long. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will show up on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 26, 2023.

Mark your calendars, as Sony will broadcast its State of Play livestream on September 13, 2022. It will air on YouTube and Twitch from 3:00 PM PST/6 PM EST. According to the announcement via the PlayStation Blog, the State of Play will run for about 20 minutes and feature 10 games for the PS4, PS5, and PS VR2.

While the PlayStation Blog does not mention what trailers will appear for this, it states that it will have announcements from developers around the world and not just Japan. The last State of Play aired in June 2022, and some games that appeared during it include Final Fantasy XVI, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Street Fighter 6. Because of how the Tokyo Game Show is also right around the corner, it is unclear if Sony is using the opportunity to get its announcements out ahead of the show, or is holding more in reserve for TGS proper.

Sony’s State of Play will air a few days before the Tokyo Game Show, which will take place from September 15, 2022. It so happens that there will be another major livestream on September 13 aside from the State of Play. Nintendo will also be broadcasting a Nintendo Direct on September 13, 2022 from 7:00 AM PST/10:00 AM EST.

Producer Naoki Yoshida said a new FFXVI trailer was on the way. Well, it turns out it debuted during the June 2, 2022 State of Play. It also ended up with a Summer 2023 launch window.

The new trailer begins with someone bringing up the Dominants. It then brings up that the power people use “wears away” at them. Hints of another war appear.

From there, the trailer goes over the FFXVI combat system. It shows fights against various foes. Both humans and traditional summons we’ve seen for years show up. The trailer ends with a number of familiar summons mentioned before showing them in action. Phoenix, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Shiva, Ifrit, Odin, and Bahamut all show up.

We already knew a new FFXIV trailer and additional announcements were coming. In December 2021, a delay was confirmed and a Spring 2022 window was set for announcements. Then in April 2022, Yoshida said it was nearing the end of its development. Once the June 2022 State of Play was announced, many suspected FFXVI would appear.

This is one of the biggest reveals recently. The initial announcement trailer and teaser website both showed up in 2020.

Final Fantasy XVI is in development for the PlayStation 5 and will be out in Summer 2023.

The March 2022 State of Play is on the way, and this time Japanese PS4 and PS5 games will be the stars. Sony announced people can tune in on March 9, 2022 at 2pm PT/5pm ET/11pm CET. The presentation will show up on Twitch and YouTube and cover new titles. It will last for about 20 minutes.

Sony didn't offer any hints about which publishers or developers could show up during the event. However, there's quite a large selection whose games could appear. For example, Atlus, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Koei Tecmo, NIS America, Sega, or Square Enix might all have games showing up at the event. The announcement did note that it won't exclusively involve Japanese companies. The company hinted other developers' games will appear too.

It also, as usual, offered details about one topic that won't come up. It confirmed that the PlayStation VR 2 isn't going to appear. The VR headset showed up at CES 2022 alongside a Horizon spin-off game. Since then, the company's shared a few additional details about it. For example, at the end of February 2022 it showed off the headset and its controllers.

During Sony's PlayStation State of Play stream on October 27, 2021, SNK revealed Dolores as the latest addition to the KOF XV roster. Following the new character trailer, it was also revealed that the KOF XV Open Beta Test is scheduled to take place on the PS4 and PS5. It will be held from November 19, 2021 at 7:00 PM PST until November 22, 2021 at 6:59 AM PST. The beta test will include eight characters: Kyo, Iori, Chizuru, Shun'ei, Shermie, Chris, Yashiro, and Dolores.

Dolores is one of the newest characters to the franchise. (The first King of Fighters title released back in 1994.) She looks to be a close-range fighter with the ability to punch rock formations into her enemies. During September 2021’s Tokyo Game Show, fighters K' and Isla were introduced. Isla is another one of the new characters. However, she has a power involving “hands,” just like Team Hero member Shun’ei. The final game will include 39 characters at launch, with the potential for more as DLC content.

The King of Fighters XV is scheduled to release for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 17, 2022. The KOF XV open beta will be held on the PS4 and PS5 between November 19-22. 2021.

Sony announced its next State of Play presentation will be held on October 27, 2021. People will be able to tune in at 2pm PT/5pm ET/11pm CET. It also offered a confirmation about what we might see. Specifically, new PS4 and PS5 games are on the docket for the show.

While no specific games were mentioned, Sony did offer some hints as to what PS4 and PS5 owners might expect. Rather than first party, it specifically mentioned third-party titles. This could mean more looks at games from companies like Square Enix or Sega. It also means it would be unlikely that a game like Horizon Forbidden West or God of War Ragnarok could appear.

It also confirmed new "news" about PS4 and PS5 games and reveals. So it could mean updates about games like Battlefield 2042, Solar Ash or perhaps Sifu. Other major games on the way include Elden Ring and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition.

The October 2021 State of Play will appear at 2pm PT/5pm ET/11pm CET on October 27, 2021. It will be on YouTube and Twitch. One of the last State of Play presentations focused heavily on Deathloop. And the February 2021 one brought up the FFVII Remake Intergrade PS5 game and its Intermission Yuffie DLC.

Sony revealed a July 8, 2021 PlayStation State of Play presentation. People will be able to watch and learn about new PlayStation games, presumably for the PS4 and PS5, on both Twitch and YouTube.

Sony teased a little bit about what people can expect from this July 2021 State of Play, starting with a confirmation that Deathloop will be there. That is the Arkane Studios game where people follow an assassin trapped in a time loop. However, another person could also play as an agent trying to keep him from breaking the time loop by killing him. It’s been delayed multiple times, but is heading to the PS5 and PC in September 2021. Its portion of the presentation will be about nine minutes long.

The company also confirmed some other things that will and won’t be shown during the 30 minute event. There will be other third-party games appearing during it, though Sony didn’t note how many. Some titles from indie developers will also appear. However, people won’t see God of War or Horizon: Forbidden West. This presentation also won’t talk about the next PlayStation VR for the PS5.

Sony will hold the next PlayStation State of Play on July 8, 2021, with nine of the 30 minute video dedicated to Deathloop.
