Cover announced that Hololive Vtubers Inugami Korone, Shirogane Noel, and Himemori Luna will be involved in an “May the Fourth” Star Wars celebration stream and project with Disney. Newly drawn illustrations of the Vtubers wearing Jedi robes were also revealed.

The special stream program is scheduled for May 3, 2025, starting at 7pm JST, and it will be held on Inugami Korone’s YouTube channel. As part of the program, the three Vtubers will discuss their shared ion for Star Wars, showcase some of their treasured Star Wars goods, special videos, and a video interview held at the recently held Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025.

Additionally, the “Star Wars Galaxy in Shibuya” event will be held between May 4-19, 2025 at the Shibuya Tsutaya in Tokyo, Japan. a variety of Star Wars merchandise will be available at the venue, and character standees for Korone, Noel, and Luna wearing their Jedi clothes will be on display.

In case you missed it, Gawr Gura will be holding her graduation stream on May 1, 2025, a few days before the Star Wars Day stream. The popular Hololive Vtuber announced her graduation on April 15, 2025.

Bandai Namco opened pre-orders for a new Star Wars Tamagotchi Nano featuring Darth Vader, which comes with a silicone case shaped like the Sith Lord's iconic helmet and lets people raise the character from the series with the virtual pet. Pre-orders are currently available from Amazon at $29.99, with the release date listed as March 11, 2025.

With a black design patterned after Vader's suit controls, the actual Star Wars Tamagotchi nano virtual pet can be inserted or removed from the helmet case as desired and also comes with two LR44 batteries included. The game itself features five minigames, 12 recreations of scenes from the movies, and 10 different versions of Vader that can appear as you play. Owners will also be able to feed their Vader Tamagotchi and meet other Star Wars characters. However, as this is only a Tamagotchi nano model, there is no interactivity with others. So it can not connect to the other Star Wars Tamagotchi produced by Bandai Namco like Grogu and R2D2.

Earlier in January 2025, Bandai announced three unique original designs available from Lawson stores in Japan. Meanwhile, back in December 2024, Disney Japan began releasing anime shorts on Instagram featuring Grogu from The Mandalorian.

Disney Japan will release new original anime shorts based on Grogu from The Mandalorian, to commemorate the release of the "Grogu Cutest In The Galaxy" merchandise line. The merchandise goods are now available at Tokyo Comic Con 2024, which is being held between December 6-8, 2024.

From December 6, 2024, the official Star Wars Instagram will share 1 to 2 shorts every month featuring the popular character also known as Baby Yoda, in his new design made for the "Grogu Cutest In The Galaxy" collection.

The first short is out now and it features Grogu following the titular Mandalorian, despite his insistence of staying behind, getting distracted by some butterflies, and then being scared by an alien creature and finally hugging the Mandalorian.

Additionally, the "Grogu Cutest In The Galaxy" merchandise will appear at an Star Wars Pop Up Store that will be available between December 18, 2024 and January 19, 2025 at Tokyu Plaza Ginza, as well as Isetan Shinjuku between January 5-15, 2025. Finally, the "Disney THE MARKET" store located at Matsuzakaya Nagoya will offer the items between December 11-24, 2024.

As a reminder, Studio Ghibli released an original short based on the popular character from The Mandalorian titled Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies. The short released on November 12, 2022 for Disney Plus.

On August 1, 2024, Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Jango Fett will return in a full remaster of the 2002 PS2 and GameCube game starring him. The release date was confirmed for this updated version of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, which will include textural overhauls and be playable on the PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

A trailer showcasing gameplay and the updated texture work debuted to show everyone what to expect. The game features mission-based gameplay, where you use all of Jango Fett's bounty hunting tools to accomplish jobs. Players will jetpack through areas, use Jango's twin blasters to fight off foes, and travel across famous Star Wars locales in pursuit of bounties. The game, focusing on the history of the famous Bounty Hunter and source of the Clone Troopers, shows the adventures he went on before becoming selected to be the Clone Trooper template.

The rerelease is developed by Aspyr. Aspyr had a hand in Star Wars rereleases for a while now, porting the classic Star Wars: Battlefront games to modern consoles alongside the remasters of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. This game was also released exclusively for the PS4 in 2019, via a physical edition through Limited Run Games. It s the new Star Wars: Hunters hero-shooter.

The Star Wars: Bounty Hunter rerelease release date is August 1, 2024. It will be available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Creativity has always been a staple of the Star Wars Brand, and the new line of manga adaptations is a shining example of just that. Viz Media released manga adaptations of existing Star Wars series like The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Rebels in English, as well as created original stories set in the Star Wars: High Republic canon. In every aspect, from the carefully crafted artwork to the new visual direction that these series provide, these Japanese mangaka elevate the original artistic vision inherited from the franchise. Using this new perspective on the Star Wars canon brings new life into this beloved legacy franchise.

In the manga adaption of The Mandalorian, the comic retells the introduction of the legendary bounty hunter “Mando '' with gorgeous art and direction provided by the author, Yuusuke Oosawa. The mangaka’s strong sense of physicality and exquisite linework only improve upon this already iconic entrance for our protagonist. Oosawa’s earlier contributions to the Star Wars: Visions anthology manga proved that not only can new works perform well in adaptation, but that Star Wars as a franchise endures no matter the medium.

Not only does this new art form allow for a different take on combat and dramatism, but it also helps to elevate tone and charm. A difficult thing to convey in acting with costume effects and makeup are expressions, a limitation that manga is free from as an artistic medium. This is best shown in the dramatic expressions Mando’s bounty makes while being held captive, or the way shading on Mando’s helmet convey different expressions or levels of intensity. 

Star Wars does just work well as a manga adaptation however, but as an exploration of new stories as well. Much in the same way that Visions brought a new creative and visual style to format, its companion manga as well as the original stories focusing on Star Wars: High Republic canon bring new life to this storied galaxy, not unlike the way Jon Favreau  managed to achieve with The Mandalorian.

Innovation and inspiration have always been essential to this franchise’s success, it is inevitable that when given to the culture that originally inspired the concept, these stories would become that much more unique. I believe this artform blazes new trails for this 57 year old Series.

The Star Wars Uniqlo shirts won’t just be in Japan for May the Fourth, as the worldwide storefront is now selling the collection as well. This is a selection of six shirts based on original movie posters for early Star Wars films.

This is the same Star Wars: Remastered collection we already knew was on the way. They all feature designs from artist Kosuke Kawamura. There are some based on the original film, as well as the movies Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. They are all unisex adult shirts that start at XXS and go all the way up to XXL or XXXL in some cases. Each one is $24.90. The price is more expensive, as the Japanese versions are 1,990 yen (~$13.48). 

As a refresher, here’s how the six designs look. In many cases, the art is on the back and the front features the Star Wars logo.

The last few Uniqlo crossovers prior to this involved both anime and game series. Oshi no Ko, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Final Fantasyones appeared in the store or were announced.

Epic Games announced that Star Wars content is coming to all Fortnite modes, including Lego Fortnite. The update will apparently arrive on May 3, 2024. 

Epic didn’t note which Star Wars properties will appear in the game. There are no images teasing specific characters. It only shared clips of the Star Wars logo alongside the names of Fortnite and the modes Lego Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, and Fortnite Battle Royale. 

Star Wars cosmetics already appeared in the game prior to this announcement. For example, people could get cosmetics and equipment based on characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Pe Amidala, the Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano, and Storm or Clone Troopers. 

The last major crossover involved the Avatar series. Characters like Aang, Zuko, and Korra showed up in the main mode of the game.

Another Lego Star Wars announcement is coming in May 2024 too. To celebrate May the Fourth, there will be a TIE Interceptor kit released on May 4, 2024. It will cost $229.99.

Fortnite is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and mobile devices, and Star Wars content is coming to the main game and modes like Lego Fortnite on May 3, 2024.

Uniqlo Japan announced the release of a new collection of Star Wars vintage t-shirts inspired by the original movie trilogy and Episode I. There are six new shirts, each one costs 1,990 yen (or about $13.48), and the collection is set to release in early May 2024 in Japan.

Seeing how many Uniqlo collaboration t-shirts have appeared outside of Japan, it is likely that this new collection will also make its way overseas at some time in the future. Artist Kosuke Kawamura created the designs for the new collection, and used posters and original art from Star Wars Episodes I, IV, V, and VI as inspiration. Once the t-shirts go on sale, they will be available in sizes XS to 4XL.

The Naruto Shippuden t-shirt and sweatshirt line is the latest Uniqlo collection to come out in North America. In addition, Uniqlo announced in late February 2024 that a new series of Capcom t-shirts will appear in Japan on March 25, 2024.

The Star Wars May the 4th sale on Amazon is now live. As expected, a wide variety of items related to the series are now discounted. Some of the deals include a special Echo Dot stand based on The Mandalorian's Grogu for $24.99 and a C3-PO-themed Citizen watch for $262.50.

There are many deals related specifically to board games, such as the Monopoly Boba Fett edition for $12.49, The Mandalorian Operation edition for $18.85, and the Jabba's Realm expansion for the Imperial Assault game for $44.42. Most notable is a large number of expansions available for the Star Wars Legion tabletop strategy game, ranging from character-specific ones, such as Count Dooku and Luke Skywalker, to entire fleets of speedsters and troopers.

As for figures, there are also deals on some Lego sets like the TIE Bomber, Justifier, and The Mandalorian's Razor Crest that cost between $53 and $299. In addition, some vintage collectible figures like Obi-Wan, Teeka, and Purge Trooper are available for $32.99.

Worth mentioning, there are also many books from the High Republic series offerings for about $8 each. On the same note, other books aimed at children such as the Galactic Storybook and the AC3-PO alphabet book can be found as well.

Interestingly, there are no video games as part of the sales although there have been many releases for current consoles such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and even the recently released Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Sony is kickstarting 2023 with the addition of the next three games for the PlayStation Plus service. From January 3, 2023, subscribers will be able to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Fallout 76, and Axiom Verge 2. PS4 owners will be able to benefit from all titles added in January 2023, while PS5-specific versions of Jedi: Fallen Order and Axiom Verge 2 will also be available.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was first released on November 15, 2019. Developed by Respawn Entertainment, the title is a third-person action-adventure in the Star Wars universe featuring what many have described as "Soulslike" combat. Its standard price is $39.99.

Fallout 76 is the Bethesda-developed-and-published MMORPG set in the Fallout universe. Released in October 23, 2018, it has seen numerous controversies throughout its years, but continues to see persistent . Its standard price is $39.99, and is also currently available for free for PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers.

Axiom Verge 2 is the sequel to the highly-regarded indie Metroidvania. It showed up on the PS4 in August 2021 and PS5 in August 2022. Developed by Thomas Happ, it is a prequel to the first title, chronicling the exploits of Indra Chaudhari in a retro-styled 2D exploration-platformer. It normally costs $19.99.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PS4/PS5), Fallout 76 (PS4), and Axiom Verge 2 (PS4/PS5) will be added to PlayStation Plus on January 3, 2023. The December 2022 titles – Mass Effect Legendary Edition (PS4). Divine Knockout: Founder’s Edition (PS4/PS5), and Biomutant (PS4/PS5) – are available to until January 2, 2023.

Studio Ghibli revealed what it's working on for Star Wars creator Lucasfilm. It's an anime short starring Grogu (also known as "Baby Yoda.") The Studio Ghibli short, formally titled Zen - Grogu and Dust Bunnies, is viewable on the Disney Plus streaming service.

The show is billed as a "hand-animated" original short. In addition to Grogu, it features the Dust Bunnies. These are little creatures that appear in the Ghibli films My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away.

Grogu first debuted in the 2019 live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian. In the opening episode, he's rescued from his captors by the titular Mandalorian. Viewers quickly noticed that he, then known only as "The Child," was a member of the same alien species as Jedi Master Yoda from the original Star Wars films. Thus the name "Baby Yoda" stuck, even after his actual name of Grogu was revealed.

The anime pairs Baby Yoda with the Dust Bunnies, who are also known as "Soot Sprites." The Dust Bunnies appear in minor roles as spirits or supernatural creatures harmlessly inhabiting the nooks and crannies of various places. In My Neighbor Totoro, they appear to the children Satsuki and Mei after the pair move with their father to a new home in the country. In Spirited Away, the Dust Bunnies inhabit the furnace beneath the bathhouse, and help by delivering coals to the fire in exchange for morsels of food.

Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm's Zen - Grogu and Dust Bunnies is viewable on Disney Plus. My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away are available digitally and via retail, as well as various streaming services.

Bandai opened pre-orders for a new Tamagotchi featuring R2-D2 from the Star Wars franchise in Japan. The new toy will be officially available in November 2021. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

In this Tamagotchi, you will be able to raise an R2-D2 by regularly charging its power and cleaning its body. If you neglect the maintenance, the robot will break down.

As you raise the virtual robot, it will eventually receive upgrades. The normal R2-D2 will have nine available Skill Modes. It can also receive a further one of the five Special Skill or Pilot modes. The number of mini-games that can be played in the toy will also depend on the upgrade.

Although the Tamagotchi specifically focuses on R2-D2, it will also feature fourteen other characters from the Star Wars series, including C-3PO, Yoda, and Boba Fett. A random character will appear on the screen after several hours have ed.

Bandai has been releasing new Tamagotchis inspired by many other famous franchises in recent months. The company had previously released Tamagotchis based on Neon Genesis Evangelion, Demon Slayer, and Twisted Wonderland.
