Sun Art announced that it worked with Nintendo to create two Splatoon 3 water guns, with each of the pistols looking like the Splat Brella from the game. These will be available in blue or yellow color schemes. Each one will cost 3,278円 (~$23).

As in Splatoon 3, these Splat Brella water guns can be used offensively or defensively. They can also be easily transported by folding them up like a regular umbrella. Once unfurled, you can use the umbrella part as coverage to protect yourself from the water other people are shooting. The reservoir of water is stored in a pouch on a ’s back that looks like an Inkling or Octoling ink tank.

Here’s how both of these items look:

This isn’t the only time we’ve seen a Splatoon series weapon turned into a real-world water gun, as water pistols based on the Splatterscope and Splattershot release in Japan. The Nintendo Store itself even sold them. In the US, Jakks also released some like a Splattershot Blaster. We’ve also seen fans make their own real-world relicas.

Splatoon 3 is available on the Nintendo Switch, and the Splat Brella water guns will be sold in Japan at the end of April 2025.

Splatoon 3 Spring Fest Adds Splatoon 2 Items

While for new Splatoon 3 events and items ended back in September 2024, Nintendo confirmed the 2025 Spring Fest Splatfest will return to the game and include items that debuted in Splatoon 2. The event runs between April 11-13, 2025, and the items will be available via the News section on a Nintendo Switch for people who own the game.

In the case of the Splatoon 3 Spring Fest Splatfest for 2025, the question is “When do you get things done?” The options are Morning, Afternoon, and Night. If it follows the usual pattern, Shiver should be tied to “Morning,” Frye will be the representative for “Afternoon,” and Big Man represents “Night.”

The theme is entirely new and different from last year’s event. In 2024, the question involved spring fluffiness and asked players to select which type of animal . The teams were Shiver and Baby Chicks, Frye and Lil’ Bunnies, and Big Man and Bear Cubs. That ran between April 20-22, 2025, and the Bear Cubs ended up winning.

As for the free Inkling and Octoling customization items, you need to find the Splatoon 3 Spring Fest announcement in the News section on your Nintendo Switch to claim the Splatoon 2 clothing. The company shared two images on social media highlighting how all 12 items look in-game. All of them are hats and shoes, so you can wear them with the Splatfest t-shirts. Here’s what we can claim:

 • Marination Lace-Ups
 • Midnight Slip-Ons
 • New-Day Arrows
 • Novelty Visor (Green)
 • Novelty Visor (Orange)
 • Novelty Visor (Pink)
 • Novelty Visor (Purple)
 • Pearl Punk Crowns
 • Pearl-Scout Lace-Ups
 • Pearlescent Squidkid IV
 • Rina Squidkid IV
 • Trooper Power Stripes

As you can see, the shoes tend to all have an Off the Hook theme and are based on Pearl and Marina.

Here's how all of those items look:

Splatoon 3 Splatoween Splatfest Being Held Ahead of Halloween

Nintendo announced that people will be able to celebrate Halloween in Splatoon 3 ahead of the holiday with a Splatoween Splatfest again. The event will go live in the game on October 25, 2024, and it will end on October 27, 2024.

While this is a rerun of the event from October 2023, the three sides are different. The 2023 version asked people to choose if they would consider a zombie, skeleton, or ghost to make the “best” friend. The 2024 edition involves picking the class you’d be if you were in a fantasy world. The options are wizard, knight, and ninja. Shiver is tied to “Wizard,” Frye is on the “Knight” side, and Big Man is the “Ninja” spokesperson.

You can already claim the Splatoon 2 Halloween returning items in Splatoon 3 now. People need to turn on their Switch, visit the SRL News story in the News section, then visit the Lobby Terminal in-game to get the four Head parts. (These were claimed in the same way in the previous entry.)

For a reminder of how those look, here’s the official announcement showing the designs from social media.

Nintendo already established it would be rerunning past Splatfest events in Splatoon 3 even though is drawing to a close, and we’ve seen the Splatoween events return before in the second game

Splatoon 3 Won’t Get Any New Events or Content Updates

Now that the Grand Festival Splatfest pitching Past, Present, and Future recently came to an end in September 2024 in Splatoon 3, Nintendo revealed that the game will stop receiving new events and regular content updates. Existing events will repeat.

While new regular Splatfest events and content updates are over, Nintendo reassured players that the seasonal Special Splatfests Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights events will continue and will bring back returning themes. Previous events in the game modes Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will also continue appearing for the time being. However, Nintendo also announced that these 3 modes might cease to reappear in the future without prior notice.

In addition, Nintendo released a four-minute-long video revisiting all the past Splatfest events in Splatoon 3. The video features idol trio Deep Cut performing on the Grand Festival stage while the results and dates of each Splatfest appear on screen next to official themed artwork of the band .

You can check out the Splatoon 3 Splatfest celebration video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd3qYJRnI7E

Furthermore, the Splatoon X (formerly Twitter) official showed that players that own any of the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, or Deep Cut Amiibos can use them to revisit the Grand Festival venue. The next and final Splatoon 3 update will allow players to use this function without the need to be online. The Grand Festival revisit function allows players to skip to different parts of the festival from the Train Station main menu.

Splatoon 3 is readily available on the Nintendo Switch.

Splatoon 3 branded Suntory drink bottles including Pepsi

Nintendo revealed a new collaboration in Japan, which involves Suntory's drink bottles being decorated with Splatoon 3 characters. The company also confirmed that Suntory has released the bottles in stores across Japan in limited numbers. This also means there is a chance people could see them in Asian grocery stores in other regions eventually.

Suntory features five kinds of drinks in this collaboration. The 600ml Pepsi Big Zero Lemon drink is one of them. The remaining four drinks are the C.C. Lemon (500ml), Dekavita C Power (500ml), Pop Melon Soda (600ml), and Natchan Ringo (425ml). Each bottle has two design variations featuring different Splatoon 3 characters.

The specially branded drink bottles will not be the only items in this Splatoon 3 collaboration. People who get four of the above bottles in a single purchase can receive a bonus clear file while stocks last. They can also use the same receipt to enter a sweepstake that will reward an MA-1 jacket to 500 lucky winners after it closes on October 31, 2024.

While the specially branded bottles are new, the Suntory crossover campaign is not. The company has been running a collaboration with the Nintendo Switch game since mid-July 2024. In the first wave that ran until August 2024, people could purchase any four of the company's bottles to get a Splatoon 3-branded tote bag while entering a sweepstake for pairs of T-shirts for adults and children.

The Splatoon 3-branded Suntory drink bottles are available for purchase in stores across Japan while stocks last. Splatoon 3 is available on the Nintendo Switch.

splatoon 3 suntory

Suntory has started a crossover campaign with Splatoon 3 in which purchasing drinks from the company could net you some merchandise from the game. It started from July 16, 2024.

If you purchase any four Suntory bottled drinks (that aren’t part of some other marketing campaign), then you can keep the receipt for a Splatoon 3 T-shirt. It’ll be a lottery system so there’s no guarantee. Only receipts between July 16 and August 22, 2024 are viable bu you’ll have until August 29, 2024 to hand them in. In total, 1000 customers will be able to get a set of adult and child T-shirts featuring the Octoling and Inkling design on them.

Aside from T-shirts, there will also be tote bags available for those who purchase four or more Suntory bottled drinks. There are four designs in total and everyone can get one. For the tote bags, they’re only available while supplies last since it’s not a lottery. So once the campaign starts, there’s a chance that some stores you go to might not have the tote bags anymore. You’ll also need to make sure the store is even participating in the campaign.

Splatoon 3 is readily available on the Nintendo Switch. The Suntory campaign with Splatoon 3 will run until August 22, 2024.

splatoon 3 marine world

A collaboration event between Splatoon 3 and Marine World will run from June 14 to September 23, 2024. During this time, you’ll be able to learn about various underwater creatures, as well as purchase limited time merchandise. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

Marine World is an aquarium that’s in Fukuoka. During the Squidcredible Summer Festival (loose translation of the Japanese name), there will be special displays for animals that serve as motifs for the game. These animals include, of course, squids and octopi. Other animals include the striped eel catfish. Aside from pictures of how they look in the game, there will also be a description of them for those who are curious about the real thing. You’ll be able to go around looking for these animals and take pictures with them.

The dolphin show, which will start taking place from July 13, 2024, will also play music from the game. Finally, if you check into Marine World using the My Nintendo app, you’ll be able to get a sticker.

In order to take part in the marine animal search, you’ll need to pay 100 JPY. As for orginal merchandise, there will be:

 • Acrylic keyholder: 770 JPY
 • Clear files: 330 JPY
 • Cookies: 864 JPY
 • Dolphin show t-shirt: 3850 JPY
 • Multiple purpose cloth: 770 JPY
 • Tote bag: 2200 JPY

splatoon 3 reefslider pool float

Watch out—a Splatoon 3 Reefslider pool float will appear in online stores (such as Rakuten and Yodobashi) from April 26, 2024. It will cost 5,280 JPY ($33.99). [Thanks, Game Watch!]

According to Game Watch, as of the time of writing, many stores have closed their pre-orders for the pool float. This means that people who want it might have to try purchasing it (while supplies last) after orders open up. At 1100 x 1540 x 660 millimeters, it’s actually big enough that an adult can ride it as they swim around a pool. There’s also a saddle on the back so that it’ll be comfortable to sit on. Since it’s a pool float, you will obviously need to first fill it with air before you can do anything with it.

In Splatoon 3, the Reefslider is a special weapon that appears as a pool float. It can travel forward at high speeds, splatting enemies when it hits people. It will then explode. As for what it looks like, the Reefslider looks like a shark that has a muzzle on its face and soda bottles on its tail.

Splatoon 3 is readily available on the Nintendo Switch. The Splatoon 3 inflatable Reefslider pool float will appear in online stores from April 26, 2024.

Splatoon 3 Developers Discuss Acht, Pearl, Marina in Side Order DLC

In a new Famitsu interview, the Splatoon 3 development team revealed various details about Acht, Pearl, and Marina in the recent Side Order DLC. The of the team that participated in the talk are Director and Art Director Seita Inoue, Side Order DLC Director Kenji Matsumoto, and Sound Director Toshiyuki Sudo. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

When asked about why Acht has a bandage on their left hand in the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC, Inoue revealed that Acht had also tried to conquer the Spire of Order a little bit before Agent 8 arrived to the virtual world, but was injured due to not being as mobile as they thought.

Regarding Pearl appearing as a drone in the DLC, Matsumoto said that he wanted Pearl to offer to the player during gameplay, as well as give players the ability to glide. By that point in development, it had been decided that Pearl would appear in the story, so it was easy for the developers to combine these two ideas.

Inoue also said that the different stages in the Side Order DLC are inspired by Marina's childhood memories as well as other octolings' memories. The Spire of Order is a factory that stores memory cubes to be grayscaled and eventually incinerated, and the snow-like substance falling around the Order Sector is actually ashes from the incinerated memory cubes.

Additionally, Inoue said that the training school that Marina and Acht attended specializes in training elite Octoling-Amazons. Octarian schools are also divided between schools for regular Octarians and for Octolings.

Splatoon 3 and its Side Order DLC are immediately available for the Nintendo Switch.

Splatoon 3 Off the Hook New Songs

Nintendo revealed two new songs for Splatoon 3, both featuring Splatoon 2 idols Off the Hook. The new songs will debut during the next Splatfest, which is set for March 22-24, 2024.

The first of the new Splatoon 3 songs is a reworked version of Off the Hook classic “Color Pulse”. This version features new instrumentation, including a disco style guitar and slap bass. The second song is titled “We’re So Back”, a bouncy pop song that features Marina playing a keytar.

These new songs will play in the new Inkopolis Square hub area, which can now be unlocked through the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC. Nintendo confirmed that clearing the Spire of Order will allow players to access the new hub, which originally appeared in Splatoon 2. This is a separate hub from Inkopolis Plaza, which appeared during Wave 1 of the game’s DLC, and is based on the hub area from the first Splatoon on the Wii U.

The songs will debut during the Splatfest held during March 22-24, 2024. This is another regional Splatfest. Japanese players are battling for best flavor of potato chips, as part of a promotional deal with Calbee. Players in other regions will be choosing their favorite instrument, picking between guitars, drums and keyboards.

Splatoon 3 is out now for Nintendo Switch. The new Off the Hook songs will appear in-game during the next Splatfest set on March 22-24, 2024.

The Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC Is Better Than the Single 10p2h Player Campaign https://siliconera.voiranime.info/the-splatoon-3-side-order-dlc-is-better-than-the-single-player-campaign/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-splatoon-3-side-order-dlc-is-better-than-the-single-player-campaign https://siliconera.voiranime.info/the-splatoon-3-side-order-dlc-is-better-than-the-single-player-campaign/#respond <![CDATA[Jenni Lada]]> Sat, 02 Mar 2024 14:00:00 +0000 <![CDATA[Featured]]> <![CDATA[Nintendo Switch]]> <![CDATA[Europe]]> <![CDATA[Japan]]> <![CDATA[Nintendo]]> <![CDATA[North America]]> <![CDATA[Playtests]]> <![CDATA[Splatoon 3]]> https://siliconera.voiranime.info/?p=1015886 <![CDATA[

The Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC Is Better Than the Single-Player Campaign

When Splatoon 2 released, it also started a tradition of the series getting an additional mode and storyline as an add-on after the fact. At that time, it wasn’t all that different from the main game’s execution, just with a different story and missions. Now that the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC is here, I can’t help thinking its execution and design feels better than the main single-player campaign.

While the main Return of the Mammalians Splatoon 3 single-player campaign behaves like past entries in the series, where you go through stages in hub areas and eventually face bosses, Side Order is a roguelike. You’re introduced to it with a single Palette, which represents a weapon and possible Color Chips you gain access to. You head into a multi-floor tower, with “boss” encounters on set floor. Said Color Chips are earned via completing floors you choose, with players able to choose the difficulty of the challenge to get the one associated with it to buff their abilities. Each “run” at the tower is different, due to the builds you accrue changing depending upon what you happen upon. While the objectives might eventually feel like you’re going through the same challenges, they’re brief enough and scaling in difficulty in such a way that I didn’t mind it.

In true roguelike fashion, when you run out of lives, you’re kicked out of the tower and sent to the bottom. However, you’re doing so with the opportunity to be in a better position next time. Items you collected are transformed into Prlz. These can be spent to unlock permanent upgrades like an extra life or more armor, so you’re reentering the tower in a better position. If you reached and beat one of the bosses, you’ll get a key for the lockers to unlock a new Palette. This could mean access to a weapon you like better or are more comfortable using. It makes the prospect of coming back and trying again appealing.

The roguelike nature of Splatoon 3 Side Order helps make it appealing, but the fact that popular Splatoon 2 protagonists Pearl and Marina return alongside the NPC Acht also assists in making it memorable. The duo were such fun protagonists in their original game, and I really appreciated interacting with them again. Especially when you consider how Deep Cut in the main Splatoon 3 single-player campaign ended up taking an antagonistic role. The concept of a creation running wild and another element threatening the world provides a sense of drive to continue.

This isn’t even taking into how much fun it is to come back to the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC experience, compared to the single-player campaign that I never touched again after beating it. Failure never feels discouraging, because like any roguelike there is steady progress always being made. Beating it doesn’t make a difference, because it still feels like there’s more to earn and unlock. If not Palettes, then by buying equipment or cosmetics from the Cipher’s Siftings shop for the main game.

It all comes down to Splatoon 3 Side Order feeling more fulfilling to me than the single-player campaign did. I really enjoyed the approach, with the challenges scaling well and the different abilities and loadouts allowing for some fun builds. It made me want to not only play once, but keep playing so I could experiment with different tactics and earn more fun things.

Splatoon 3 and its Side Order DLC expansion are available now.

Splatoon 3 Calbee Potato Chips Collab Includes New Splatfest

Nintendo and Calbee announced a new potato chip collaboration with Splatoon 3 that includes a new regional Splatfest and squid ink-colored potato chips. The collaboration will appear in Japan on March 18, 2024. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The squid ink-colored Calbee potato chips will be Consommé flavored. The only difference with the regular Consommé chips is that the color used for the flavored powder is black, imitating squid ink. The potato chip bags will also display the default Inkling protagonist character in both squid and kid form. You can take a look at the potato chip bags here:

Meanwhile, the new Splatoon 3 Splatfest for March 2024 will be potato chips-themed. This Splatfest will be exclusive to Japan, with a different theme appearing overseas. The question asked is, "What do you think of potato chips?" The three teams represented are salt, consommé, and nori seaweed flavors.

Furthermore, a lottery campaign will be held, and winners will receive a Potato Chips Fest t-shirt like the ones from the Splatfest competition. 200 t-shirts for each flavor will be available. The campaign will be held between March 1 and July 16, 2024.

The Splatoon series has received regional Splatfest in the past, like the one that pits the Kinoko no Yama and Takenoko no Sato chocolate snacks against each other in Splatoon 2.

Splatoon 3 and its Side Order DLC add-on are immediately available for the Nintendo Switch.

Splatoon 3 and its Side Order DLC add-on are immediately available for the Nintendo Switch.

Best Color Chips in the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC

As you go through the roguelike Splatoon 3 Side Order, you’ll acquire Color Chips for your Palette that affect your abilities. Some may end up feeling stronger or more useful than others, though your mileage may vary. Here are some of the best Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC Color Chips you can pick up to improve your performance in any run.

Best Drone Color Chips in the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC 2d164

There are three chips I recommend grabbing for Pearl if you can. All of them are handy, because they can make her a little more helpful. While her Killer Wail one she gets during the tutorial is fine, I think these other three can offer greater range.

 • Drone Inkstrike: She’ll be able to use an Inkstrike. This is great, since there’s greater range and odds of it getting enemies than something like Killer Wail.
 • Drone Items: Pearl will create items and drop them down to you as she charges up.
 • Drone Sprinkler: This is probably the most controversial of my picks. You know the Sprinkler sub-weapon in Splatoon 3? This makes the Pearl Drone that for a while. Since she follows you, it can help!

Best Lucky Color Chips in Splatoon 3 4y269

So with the Lucky Color Chips, my recommendation is getting ones that increases the length and window of the chain. This is because the other chips are more specialized. If you like extra armor, extra Pearl Drone batteries, more Canned Special items, or Ink Bottle items, then one of those Color Chips might be the best one for you. But these other two are more universal.

 • Lucky Chain Window: With this one, it focuses on a larger duration, which increases your odds of getting items if you hit enemies one after another.
 • Max Lucky Chain: This Color Chip’s focus is on the maximum length. Again, it’s about bolstering the odds of drops.

Best Mobility Color Chips in Splatoon 3 4mo17

There are a lot of Mobility abilities that can be great! My favorites are the ones that help build up charges. But also the general ones that increase movement speeds are fantastic. Since these are so specialized depending on your own build preferences, I’m just going to go ahead and list some of the general great ones you should consider.

 • Extra Dodge Roll: You can roll one more time when Dualies are equipped.
 • Mobile Drone Gauge: The Pearl Drone’s gauge fills up when you move around.
 • Mobile Ink Recovery: You will get ink just by running around.
 • Mobile Special Charge: Your Special Gauge will increase when you walk around a stage.
 • Moving Ink Speed: If you use a Brush or Roller, you’ll move faster when you have it on the ground and are running ink the ground.
 • Run Speed Up: You’ll sprint faster when you’re in the humanoid Octoling form.
 • Swim Speed Up: You’ll swim faster when in the octopus form.

Best Power Color Chips in Splatoon 3 49604g

Power Color Chips tend to be universally helpful in Splatoon 3. Like you can’t turn down dealing more damage to enemies, because it really helps with survivability. There are a few specialized ones that might not be as useful in every run, like the Sound Wave Damage Color Chip. But in general, a lot work with any run you have going.

 • Ink Damage: Increases Pearl Drone and weapon damage.
 • Main Damage (Close): If you’re close to your enemy, then you’ll deal more damage than usual.
 • Main Damage (Distant): This is really only best with weapons that have a long range, like the Bow or Charger Palette, but it could pair with the Main Range Color Chip.
 • Main Firing Speed: Your rate of fire goes up.
 • Poison Ink: Given how easy it is for a fleet of Swarming Languendo to mob you, I love and fully endorse this one. (It’s great for the other Jelleton enemies too!)

Best Range Color Chips in Splatoon 3 1g17d

A lot of the range updates are super useful, but come down to your personal preference. Do you have trouble aiming? Ink Attack Size is good to help with that. Want more range, but hate Chargers and love Dualies? Main Range is a good way to deal with that. If you’ve also been going with Color Chips like Poison Ink or Sticky Ink that either damage or slow enemies walking on your ink, then Main Ink Coverage, Rush Ink Coverage, and Hindrance Damage make sense.

But in general, I suggest these Range Color Chips. They aren’t really dependent on builds.

 • Main Piercing: Adds a Pierce effect to your main weapon’s attack, so it will go through enemies to hit ones behind them.
 • Special Charge Up: When your ink hits surfaces, your Special Gauge will fill.
 • Turf Drone Gauge: Pearl Drone’s gauge will fill when you get your ink on the ground or other surfaces.
 • Turf Lucky Chain: This one is my favorite, as it means your Lucky Chain will increase just by getting ink on the ground and isn’t solely determined by enemies.
