Music from Splatoon 2 are now in the Nintendo Music app. You can listen to them or add them to the playlist if you have a Nintendo Switch Online .

The official X (formerly Twitter) for Splatoon has posted a sample of some of the tracks and you can check them out there if you wish. In total, the Nintendo Music app carries 105 tracks from Splatoon 2, including songs like “Ebb and Flow,” “Inkoming!,” and “Tidal Rush.” If you want to listen to all of the tracks, it’ll take over three hours. As a note, the entire game’s soundtrack is not in the app. Some of the top replies in the Twitter post have requested that Nintendo add their missing favorites, but it’s unknown if Nintendo will update the playlist in the future.

Nintendo released the Nintendo Music app back in late October 2024. To access it and use its features, you need to have a Nintendo Switch Online though. With Nintendo Music, you can and stream songs from various Nintendo games, as well as form your own personal playlist. There’s also a loop and in-built extension function. So if there’s a particular track you want to listen for hours on end, you can do so with this app.

Splatoon 2 is readily available on the Nintendo Switch.

As part of the various Splatfest events in the Splatoon series, Nintendo releases official art. So for Splatoon, we’d see the Squid Sisters Callie and Maries engaged in activities for the festival, and so on. Now Nintendo’s Japanese branch released a virtual gallery online that shows the imagery created for all three games’ special events.

The official site doesn’t show the winners for the Splatoon, Splatoon 2, and Splatoon 3 Splatfest events, only the art. Each one shows what the question was for that one, as well as what the two sides were. In the case of situations where there were different topics, there are buttons that you can click to see the different options. For example, the July 2017 Splatoon 2 Splatfest was Rock vs Pop in Japan and Cake vs Ice Cream in North America, Europe, and Oceania. So if you scroll to that event in the virtual gallery, it initially shows Pearl and Marina with the Rock vs Pop art, and clicking the button for other regions shows the Off the Hook with cake and ice cream.

The gallery also covers art from special collaborations as well. For example, there is the image for the May 2018 Sanrio Splatfests. The Deep Cut The Legend of Zelda Splatfest imagery showed up as well.

Splatoon is available on the Nintendo Wii U, while Splatoon 2 and 3 are on the Switch.

A number of older Nintendo Switch games all require fresh s to play online. An update went out not just for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but also ARMS, Splatoon 2, and Super Mario Maker 2. However, they seem to be inconsequential ones designed to fix minor issues or perhaps potential loopholes. [Thanks, Resetera!]

Animal Crossing: New Horizons, ARMS, Splatoon 2, and Super Mario Maker 2 pages note the update patch details for each one. However, you don’t need to actually visit each page. Nintendo’s official patch notes for each one is identical. They all say, “Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.“

In each case, it’s been a while since a patch appeared. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the most recent one, as its 2.0.5 patch appeared in February 2022 ahead of 2.0.6. The last Splatoon 2 update showed up in September 2021 and involved rebalancing. Super Mario Maker 2 hasn’t changed since July 2020. That involved a change to keep Ninji Speedruns fair. Finally, this is the first ARMS update since September 2018. It added Nintendo Switch Online app and involved rebalancing.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons, ARMS, Splatoon 2, and Super Mario Maker 2 are available for the Nintendo Switch, with new update patches available for each as of November 14, 2022.

People who have played Splatoon 2 will receive many bonuses in Splatoon 3 when they carry over their save data to the new game. Nintendo made the announcement with a new post on the game's official website shortly after holding the Splatoon 3 Direct presentation stream.

When a player boots Splatoon 3 with an that has Splatoon 2 save data, they will be given instant access to Anarchy Battles and, depending on their rank in the older game, start the newer game with a higher rank. The game will match them with other former Splatoon 2 players with a similar skill level. It will also reward them with three Gold Sheldon Licenses, which they can use to obtain any available main weapons.

Additionally, Nintendo also revealed some details about Splatoon 3's save data. The game will save the Story Mode progression data internally in the console, although players can also it to the Nintendo Switch Online's cloud backup. Data related to online matches, such as player ranks and gear collections, will be linked to the player's and placed on an online server. If the player has multiple Switch units with the same ed, they will be able to play Splatoon 3 on any of them with the same save data.

Splatoon 2 is available worldwide on Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 3 will come to the same platform on September 9, 2022.

When playing Splatoon 3, folks’ staple weapons from Splatoon and Splatoon 2 will show up. Nintendo confirmed that “basic” weapons will be back. It also shared a picture showing some of those returning pieces of equipment. It followed that up with details about three “shooter” types that will be back in the new game.

First, in the new image seven Splatoon 3 weapons appeared. From left to right, the Sploosh-o-matic, Jet Squelcher, .52 Gal, Splattershot Pro, Aerospray, L-3 Nozzlenose, and N-Zap all showed up. All seven are classified as shooter weapons in game.

It then offered three brief videos in tweets looking at returning weapons and how they will change in Splatoon 3. First is the Splattershot.

In addition to old weapons, Nintendo's gone over new ones heading to Splatoon 3. In particular, three showed up so far. One is the Stringer bow. Another is the Ink Vac. Finally, there's the Triple Airstrike.

Splatoon 3 will appear on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022.

Nintendo offered a barrage of Splatoon announcements on April 22, 2022. First, it revealed the Splatoon 3 release date. It will appear on the Switch on September 9, 2022. However, there's news for Splatoon 2, as its Octo Expansion DLC is now part of Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.

To go along with the Splatoon 3 release date announcement, Nintendo shared a new trailer and details about the single and multiplayer campaigns. If you go it alone, you’ll become Agent 3. Your goal will be to explore Alterna. As usual, the Octarians will be your enemies. As for the multiplayer modes, which require Nintendo Switch Online if you play online, Salmon Run co-op and 4v4 Turf Wars return. The former has new enemies and stages. The latter includes new stages and weapons. For example, you can use a Stringer bow weapon and and fight at Eeltail Alley.

As for the Splatoon 2 DLC, anyone with the NSO Expansion Pack can access it now. They can head to the eShop to the add-on. As long as their subscription is active, they can access the additional campaign. It features more challenging levels that can also involve puzzles and boss fights. If you complete it, you can make your avatar an Octoling instead of an Inkling.

Splatoon 3 will appear on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. Splatoon 2 is on the Switch now, and its Octo Expansion DLC is now part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.

Nintendo has announced that it will discontinue the Splatoon 2 Online Lounge feature for the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app on July 28, 2021. After the discontinuation, players will no longer be able to invite friends via the Online Lounge. However, players will still be able to use the Nintendo Switch Online App's voice chat functionality. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

The Online Lounge allowed s to connect their smartphone devices to their Nintendo Switch and invite friends to games via a URL. could share this URL with friends across various social media platforms such as Facebook, LINE, Twitter, and Whatsapp. In Splatoon 2's case, players could invite friends to private or ranked matches. Voice chat was available through the app, as well. Once an invite came through, players would receive a notification on their Nintendo Switch Online app. After that, they could choose to the lobby and use voice chat.

Additionally, Nintendo's official page states that "no other changes will be made to the app at this time." It also notes that players will still be able to voice chat in Splatoon 2 via the Nintendo Switch Online app by turning on voice chat settings when creating a room.

Splatoon 2 is immediately available on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch Online App on iOS and Android devices. The Splatoon 2 Online Lounge will officially discontinue on July 28, 2021. Nintendo also announced back in February 2021 that Splatoon 3 is currently in the works, and is planned to release for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022.

What might possibly be the real final Splatfest has come and gone. The Splatoon 2 Super Mario Splatfest is over, and we have a winner. This event asked people which of two power-ups they preferred. Pearl was the champion for the Super Mushroom, while Marina backed the Super Star. Well, Super Mushroom, and by extension Pearl, won.

Here’s Nintendo’s announcement. While more people voted for Marina and Super Star, the Normal and Pro performances by team Super Mushroom were just better. There’s no official victory artwork with Pearl or Marina yet, but the official Twitter shared a Super Mushroom image.

With the Super Mario Splatfest over, that means there are no additional events on the horizon for Splatoon 2. It was a part of multiple supplemental Splatfests added after the “final” Chaos versus Order event back in July 2019.

Splatoon 2 is available for the Nintendo Switch. As for the future of the series, back in January 2020, a New Year’s message suggested the Salmonids, the enemies from Splatoon 2’s Salmon Run, were in danger.

The Splatoon 2 Super Mario Splatfest is upon us, which means fresh art ahead of the January 15, 2021 event. For each event, Nintendo shared original art online of characters like Off the Hook’s Pearl and Marina. These always reference the theme of the event itself. So, it should come as no surprise that the Super Mario Splatfest art shows Pearl using a Super Mushroom, the power-up she prefers, while Marina is using a Super Star, her favored power-up, to run up to her.

As a reminder, there are two My Nintendo Splatoon 2-related missions at the moment that end on January 17, 2021. Both of them can count toward earning the new Super Mario 35th anniversary pin set. To complete one, you show up for this Splatfest and participate. To complete the other, you have to sign up for the Splatfest on the other official site. Click a button there, and you’re immediately entered to clear a mission and possibly win a Splatoon 2 coin for your performance.

You can also get Splatoon 2 Super Mario Splatfest shirts with art from the game on them. There are two designs available for $29.99 each. One looks like the Pearl Super Mushroom t-shirt people who are on her team wear in-game. The other resembles the Marina Super Star t-shirt. Each one is available in sizes XS through 3XL.

Who’s ready to stay fresh? Well, you will have to July 2021 in Japan and August 2021 in North America. That’s when Good Smile Company’s newest Splatoon 2 figures make their debut. The Off the Hook figma set, which includes Pearl and Marina, will be out next year. Better save up too, as the duo will cost $146.99/¥14,000.

That higher-than-usual price tag makes sense when you look at what you get in the Off the Hook figma set. This gives you two figures. (Marina is about 10mm taller than Pearl, for the sake of accuracy.) The Inkling rapper comes with a mic she can hold and the chair she sits in on Inkopolis News every time you load up Splatoon 2. She also has her normal and smiling faces. Meanwhile, Marina comes with her DJ turntable from the opening segments. She also has a second smiling face plate to go with her standard expression. Both characters also have the hand gestures for their “Don't get cooked, stay off the hook!” pose.

The Pearl and Marina Off the Hook figmas most recently appeared at WonHobby Gallery 2020 Autumn. They’re the third pair of Splatoon figures from Good Smile Company. First, there was a set of Inkling Girls inspired by the default avatars from both games.  They were followed by a pair of Inkling Boys.

The Pearl and Marina figma set will launch in July 2021 in Japan and August 2021 in North America. Pre-orders are open until January 13, 2021.

The Nintendo Black Friday 2020 deals have been revealed. As usual, there’s a special console bundle to pick up and some minor discounts on first-party games that don’t go on sale that often. However, while there will be a Nintendo Switch Black Friday bundle this year, the company didn’t reveal any special 3DS systems.

The Black Friday Nintendo Switch is a standard system with the colorful red and blue Joy-Cons. It comes with a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online. The official site says it will be out starting on November 22, 2020, cost $299.99 and be available at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart.

Two days before that, starting on November 20, 2020, a handful of first-party games’ prices will drop from $59.99 to $39.99. These are the titles that will be reduced during the second half of the month.

Whenever Nintendo holds Splatoon 2 Splatfests or a special event comes up, there is typically a new work of art shared on social media to go with it. Since we are getting another Splatoon 2 Halloween Splatoweent event between October 30, 2020 and November 1, 2020, that’s being celebrated with art of the most famous Inkling and Octoling performers out there.

Surprisingly, Splatoween seems like a formal affair for Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters. Callie, Marie, Marina and Pearl are all relatively dressed up, albeit in fashionable outfits that have black, white, orange and green color schemes. They’re sitting down for some sort of meal, with paint all around the four. (It has some serious album cover vibes.)

This marks the third Splatoon 2 Halloween artwork to appear. The original design came up on social media in October 2017. That one only involved in-costume Pearl and Marina.

As for the 2018 Splatoween design, the art for that year highlighted the free masks that were given away to players.

Nintendo promised more Splatoon 2 Splatfests, and it delivered. This next one will be a festive surprise for people who might be social distancing at the end of October. Instead of trick or treating outside, you can side with trick or treat in the Halloween Splatoon 2 Splatfest starting at 3pm PT/6pm ET/11pm BST on October 30, 2020.

This is actually a rerun of a past Halloween event. It originally took place in October 2018. Back then, Marina and Team Treat ended up beating Pearl and Team Trick. There was even special artwork released for the Off the Hook .

Back when that happened, people could even get festive Splatoween clothing from the Nintendo Switch Squid Research Lab Bulletin news channel. If someone called dibs, they got a free Anglerfish Mask, Hockey Mask, Kyonshi Mask, and Lil’ Devil Horns. Unfortunately, Nintendo’s tweet didn’t mention if people will have a second chance to get these cosmetic items.

Nintendo promised three more Splatfests back in July 2020. One involved a Chicken and Egg Splatfest. Another will be a January 2021 Super Mario Splatfest.

Back in July 2020, Nintendo announced that there would be three more Splatoon 2 Splatfests heading to the game. (This was even though they were “officially” done.) Now, as part of the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct, a Splatoon 2 Super Mario Splatfest has been announced. It will take place in January 2021.

While there’s no exact date for the event, we do know what the question will be. Rather than force a Sophie’s Choice sort of question and ask people to pick a certain character as a favorite, it will be about power-ups. Essentially, you decide if you would prefer to be super sized as a result of a Super Mushroom or if you would rather be invincible after grabbing a Super Star. Since it should follow the typical Splatfest protocol, that would mean Pearl would favor Super Mushrooms and Marina would be a fan of Super Stars.

Splatoon 2 is available for the Nintendo Switch. The Splatoon 2 Super Mario Splatfest will be held in January 2021. The most recent in-game event was the chicken and egg Splatfest held back in August 2020.

A new Splatoon 2 patch has arrived ahead of the August 21, 2020 chicken vs. egg Splatfest. There’s nothing new or exciting added this time, though. Rather, this one is all about rebalancing. If you use a brella, dualies, or shooter sort of weapon, you might want to double check if one has been adjusted.

Here’s the full list of patch notes from Nintendo for Splatoon 2 patch 5.3.0:

Splattershot, Tentatek Splattershot, Kensa Splattershot, Hero Shot Replica, Octo Shot Replica

• Reduced the amount of time it takes for shot spread (which is the gradual distance shots spread away from the target when firing continuously) to return to normal.
  • Most Shooter-type weapons will have increased shot spread if you continuously fire.
  • When you stop firing, the shot spread gradually returns to normal, but with this fix, we’ve reduced the amount of time it takes to return.

.52 Gal, .52 Gal Deco, Kensa .52 Gal

• Extended the amount of time when firing continuously until shot spread reaches its max.
• Reduced the amount of time it takes for shot spread to return to normal.
  • Most Shooter-type weapons will have increased shot spread if you continuously fire.
  • When you stop firing, the shot spread gradually returns to normal, but with this fix, we’ve reduced the amount of time it takes to return.

Bamboozler 14 MK I, Bamboozler 14 MK II, Bamboozler 14 MK III

• Increased ink consumption by roughly 20%.

Dualie Squelchers, Custom Dualie Squelchers

• Increased the ink consumed by rolling from 5% to 8% of the Ink Tank.
• Very slightly decreased the size of hit detection between normal shots and players, making it harder to hit opponents.
  • There are no changes to hit detection between players and shots after rolling.

Splat Brella, Sorella Brella, Hero Brella Replica

• Decreased damage dealt by each ink droplet from 18.0 to 16.2.
  • Due to this change, the maximum damage dealt by a single shot has gone down from 90.0 to 81.0.

As a result of closely observing the changes in weapon choice after ver. 5.2.0 was released, we made adjustments to certain weapons that were still being used often or were often used by players of the highest rank, even after the changes in weapon choice evened out.

We’ve also made adjustments to improve those weapons that players started using a lot more often (and those with similar features) to give players more options.

We plan to perform a long-term analysis after this update is applied and make adjustments based on that.

Splatoon 2 is available for the Nintendo Switch. The chicken vs. egg Splatfest will be held on August 21, 2020.
