Konami and Anime Expo announced that there will be a Silent Hill f at the event on July 4, 2025. This will be called “Unmasking Silent Hill f,” and it will happen at the event at 3:15pm PT. It is unknown if the will be streamed online for those unable to attend, though Anime Expo does have a Twitch channel

Three of the major developers behind Silent Hill f will attend the Anime Expo 2025 , so it is likely more insight into its development, story, and characters will come up. Producer Motoi Okamoto, Writer Ryukishi07, and Composer Akira Yamaoka will all take part. It will last for just under an hour.

Konami did confirm there will be a question and answer portion of that presentation. The official English social media for the Silent Hill series is accepting questions from those who won’t be able to attend firsthand. The Japanese social media didn’t put out a call for questions, but did reiterate this is an entirely new, standalone entry in the series.

Silent Hill f is currently in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and it will also be playable on a Steam Deck. A first trailer is available and the website is open.

Silent Hill f Will Be Playable on a Steam Deck

Those who hoped for a handheld Silent Hill f experience might be able to manage that, as the Steam product page for the new game in the series noted it is “playable” on a Steam Deck. This means while it isn’t “verified” and guaranteed to run perfectly on the device, it should work. The latest entry is due to appear on PCs, as well as consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. [Thanks, Wario64!]

The detailed explanation suggests that some adjustments will be needed to ensure Silent Hill f works on a Steam Deck. The important one is that the compatibility discussion mentions “manual configuration of graphics settings.” The system requirements already noted that someone only clearing the minimum specs would need to go with a lower resolution, framerate, and the mode that prioritizes Performance over (graphics) Quality. So this suggests someone playing on a handheld PC gaming device would need to go with lower or the lowest settings to make it work. Said explanation also mentioned some text could be small, but there is a magnifier function on Steam Decks that could help with that.

Speaking of which, the full PC system requirements for Silent Hill f also appeared on the Steam page, so those with Steam Deck, handheld gaming PCs, or standard computers can see how their rig would stand up to the game. First, here are the minimum specs we need to run it. Konami noted that people with builds around this point would need to go with 720p, 30fps, and Performance mode.

OS: Windows 11 x64
Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 Ti or AMD Radeon™ RX 5700
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 50 GB available space (SSD recommended)
Sound Card: Windows Compatible Audio Device.
Additional Notes: Playing on minimum requirements should enable to play on Performance quality settings in 30 at 720p. SSD is recommended.

As for the recommended specs for the new Silent Hill game, here’s what someone should shoot for if they want to play.

OS: Windows 11 x64
Processor: Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 5 5500
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon™ RX 6800XT
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 50 GB available space (SSD required)
Sound Card: Windows Compatible Audio Device.
Additional Notes: Playing on recommended requirements should enable to play on Performance settings in 60 FPS or Quality settings in 30 FPS at FullHD (or 4k using DLSS or similar technology).

Silent Hill f is currently in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. A first trailer is available and the website is open.

Silent Hill f Refused Classification

The Classification Board in Australia has no longer refused classification for Silent Hill f, despite reports over the past weekend. The horror game is now awaiting classification ahead of its release. This update came after Stevivor received an official comment from the board regarding the new game's status. [Thanks, Stevivor!]

The Australian Classification Board initially featured a page that revealed Silent Hill f had been refused classification, meaning it was effectively banned from sale in the country. However, this appears to be an automatic classification provided through the IARC Global Rating Tool, which publishers can use to self-report the content of their game.

However, it’s historically been a problem in Australia, where games tend to get an automatic rating higher than the one assigned by the Classification Board itself. Games such as We Happy Few and Kingdom Come: Deliverance have also been reported to have been refused for classification through this system, despite releasing in Australia without issue. A recent statement from the Board itself has confirmed that Silent Hill f is still awaiting a rating and has not been refused classification in Australia.

The Australian Classification Board has a rocky history with video games. This is due to the highest rating (R 18+) originally not being applied to games in the way they would for movies. This was changed in 2013, but its requirements remain strict. Games which feature drug use as a form of reward, sexual violence or "high impact violence” are usually refused classification. Silent Hill f’s Steam page features a warning about the game containing child abuse and drug-induced hallucinations. These are likely reasons for why the system initially claimed the game has been refused classification.

Silent Hill f is the next game in Konami’s horror series. Originally announced in 2022, a full trailer was shown off at the latest Silent Hill Transmission in March 2025. It will be set in Japan during the 1960s and features a story written by Ryukishi07 (When They Cry series).

Silent Hill f is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Silent Hill f Character Hinako Shimizu Detailed

Konami revealed some new details about Silent Hill f protagonist Hinako Shimizu. On the official Japanese website for the game, the developer described the title as a story of beautiful and horrific choices and shared a rough profile of the new Silent Hill protagonist.

Hinako is a teenage girl living in the rural Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, located in a mountain region of Japan. She is described as struggling to meet the idealized image that her parents, her friends, and society push onto her. She used to be a cheerful and lively child, but it’s apparently been a long time since she last smiled.

Her life, though dull and gray, is that of an ordinary teenager. However, her normal life is suddenly shattered when the town is surrounded in fog and undergoes a horrific and disgusting transformation. During her journey, Hinako has to face choices in order to survive, solve the mystery of the town, and to kill that which must be killed.

Furthermore, the ESRB released details about the content of the game. The board assigned it a Mature 17+ rating. The game is described as containing blood and gore, intense violence, and partial nudity. The types of enemies described by the board include humanoid monsters, mutants, and mythical creatures. The ESRB also indicated that Hinako will be using axes, crowbars, knives, and spears to defend herself and kill enemies in melee combat in Silent Hill f, and the description referenced the actions of the character and others.

Some of the gore elements were also described, with some enemy attacks being able to impale Hinako in the neck or get her face ripped apart. Additionally, it seems like there will be a character being burned alive inside a cage, as well as a woman branded by a hot iron. We already saw Hinako’s face being sliced off in the first official trailer for Silent Hill f that appeared during the March 2025 Transmission livestream.

Silent Hill f is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Check out the Silent Hill f First Official Trailer

Konami shared the first official trailer for Silent Hill f during the latest Silent Hill Transmission stream. The game is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC, and wishlists are now open on all platforms.

Over 2 years since the reveal of Silent Hill f, Konami has shared the first new details for the game with a new story trailer. The new footage introduces protagonist Shimizu Hinako, some of the areas in the game, as well as a first look at some of the monstrosities and creatures that await in the new mainline title in the series.

Silent Hill f takes place in Ebisugaoka, a rural town in Japan during the 1960s. The game focuses on Japanese themes, such as terror being able to be found within beauty, and what happens when this beauty becomes too intense. As part of the livestream, writer Ryukishi07 was invited to talk about his work on the title. Ebisugaoka is inspired by Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture, and was suggested by Ryukishi07 himself.

You can check out the new Silent Hill f trailer below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qFEyq8quhA

Yamaoka talked about including some Japanese elements and sounds in the soundtrack for the game, but wanting to make it an experience that international fans would also connect with. The game will include little easter eggs and references to the series, but will be a standalone title that doesn't require people to have played any game before.

Silent Hill f was originally announced on October 2022 with a teaser trailer revealing that Ryukishi07, writer and creator of the When They Cry series, would be the writer for the new title in the survival horror game series. No details have appeared since the announcement, with the Silent Hill 2 Remake being the latest title in the series to release.

Silent Hill f is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Silent Hill f

Konami announced a Silent Hill Transmission stream will include details about Silent Hill f. The broadcast will held on March 13, 2025 and will begin at 3PM PT/6PM ET/11PM CET. The announcement was revealed on X, with Konami stating that links to the stream would appear soon.

You can check out the announcement below:

https://twitter.com/Konami/status/1899218771350306859

In an interview published in December 2024, Producer of the Silent Hill 2 remake, and Silent Hill f, suggested that more information about f could appear in 2025. And it looks like that information is certainly on the way. However, Konami hasn't provided details as to what could appear during the broadcast, such as a prospective release date, or if players will get a glimpse at any kind of gameplay footage.

Silent Hill f was announced in 2022 during a Silent Hill Transmission stream. While it was shared that Ryukishi07, the creator and writer of the Umineko and Higurashi series, would be lending his talent to the game, other information has been scarce.

That said, Konami has been steadily releasing Silent Hill games and merchandise over the course of the past two years. Silent Hill: The Short Message, which is a free "experience" was released on the PlayStation 5, with the Silent Hill 2 remake released for PlayStation 5 and PC.

Silent Hill f is in development.

Silent Hill f is in development.

silent hill f townfall 2025

When giving his 2024 retrospective and 2025 resolution to 4Gamer, Motoi Okamoto promised some news on Silent Hill F and Silent Hill Townfall next year. Though this has nothing to do with the Silent Hill franchise, Okamoto also mentioned that No Case Should Remain Unsolved from Somi was the game that impressed him the most this year. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

News for Silent Hill appeared at the end of Okamoto’s message to readers. He first commented on how Konami successfully released Silent Hill 2 Remake, and that it was well-received from fans and critics alike. Of the remaining announced titles from the Silent Hill franchise, there’s only F and Townfall left. He hopes that he can give everyone more news on those games, and that everyone’s working hard to make sure they can meet fan expectations.

Okamoto also comments that Silent Hill is a series with a lot of history, and it’s also one that’s gone through a lot of challenges over the years. It’s important that fans can enjoy a remake that the developers put a lot of work into making, with a high-quality story they know they can enjoy. He also wants to come up with innovative ideas that present a new way to enjoy horror. Silent Hill: Ascension, Silent Hill: The Short Message, and Red Reaper: The Dead’s Statement of Guilt are all examples of these new concepts.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is on the PS5 and Windows PC. Meanwhile, Silent Hill Townfall and F are still in development.

Silent Hill Producer Motoi Okamoto Offers Update on Games

In Famitsu's New Year Greetings column for 2024, Silent Hill series Lead Producer Motoi Okamoto offered an update on the series. Okamoto’s keyword for 2024 is “delivery,” and the producer confirmed that 2024 will mark the beginning of new Silent Hill game releases. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The producer’s aspirations for 2024 consist of continuing to build up the Silent Hill series with both games and other types of media. Motoi Okamoto mentioned the release of the interactive streaming Silent Hill Ascension in November 2023 as one of such types of non-game media for the franchise.

Konami originally announced 3 Silent Hill games and 2 non-game titles in production on October 2022. Silent Hill F is a new mainline installment in the franchise developed by Neobards Entertainment and written by When They Cry sound novel series author Ryukishi07. Bloober Team is developing the Silent Hill 2 remake for the PS5 and PC, in collaboration with artist Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka.

Konami is also collaborating with publisher Annapurna Interactive and Observation developer No Code in the Silent Hill: Townfall. At the time of writing this story none of the aforementioned Silent Hill video game titles have a release date or window, but people can expect some of these to appear in 2024.

The Return to Silent Hill live-action movie is the other non-game title for the current Silent Hill multimedia project, and director Christophe Gans is in charge of it. Gans previously directed the first Silent Hill live-action project.

silent hill f

Konami has released a new Silent Hill game on the horizon during its Silent Hill transmission livestream: Silent Hill F. Ryukishi07, the creator of the When They Cry sound novel series of games, will be the writer. Taiwan-based studio Neobards Entertainment will develop the game, with Motoi Okamoto as the producer, and "kera" as the creature and character designer.

The trailer does not contain any gameplay footage, which implies that the game is still in the early development stage. However, it does give a good idea as to the general atmosphere that the game will have. It features a much more Japanese-inspired setting than the American aesthetic of the Silent Hill series. For example, a Japanese doll is prominent in the trailer, and the setting appears to be a rural shopping district in the 1960s. Plants and flowers are also key symbols for the game.

You can watch the trailer for Silent Hill F below. As a warning, there is some footage that those with trypophobia may find upsetting at around 1:12.

As mentioned above, Ryukishi07 is the author and artist of When They Cry, which includes Higurashi: When They Cry and Umineko: When They Cry. Both series lean heavily into the psychological horror genre, with some elements of gore. Neobards Entertainment previously worked on Resident Evil: Resistance, and Motoi Okamoto was the director of Wii Play.

Silent Hill F is in development, with more information to come out soon. Other games Konami announced during the Silent Hill transmission include Silent Hill: Townfall and a remake of Silent Hill 2.
