Shin Kamen Rider movie writer and director Hideaki Anno is currently working on the script for the sequel to the tokusatsu live action film. However, Toei has yet to greenlight the potential planned sequel to the 2023 movie.

The message confirming that Anno is working on the script for the sequel was shared on social media by the studio Khara official social media . The original message appeared in Japanese, and it roughly translates to:

"53 years ago, on (March) 18th, Kamen Rider vs. Shocker came out. And 2 years ago today Shin Kamen Rider also released.

I am currently writing the script for 5 other works and, if everything goes as planned, I will also be giving my best working on the 6th project, Shin Kamen Rider: Masker World. (Our company president)”

Hideaki Anno didn’t add any details on what the other five projects he is working on are. As a reminder, Anno worked on the recent Shin Japan Heroes Universe movies, including Shin Kamen Rider, Shin Godzilla, Shin Ultraman, and the final entry in the Rebuild of Evangelion films. In addition to the aforementioned movies, Anno is one of the writers in the Gundam GQuuuuuuX anime.

Shin Kamen Rider is available for streaming via Prime Video. Hideaki Anno is currently working on the script for a sequel tentatively named Shin Kamen Rider: Masker World.

As usual from a WonHobbyG event, Good Smile Company announced a number of anime figures. On May 26, 2023 at WonHobbyG Spring, it showed off an array of Nendoroids from various anime series that are all in various stages of development. While some only showed up as concept art, like the My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 one, others are much farther along in the process. For example, the new Spy x Family Anya Forger figure is a painted prototype, which means the Nendoroid's orders could open soon.

Bandai Namco announced new DLC for SD Shin Kamen Rider Rumble featuring the main characters from the Shin Japan Heroes Universe (SJHU). This group consists of Ultraman, Godzilla, and the EVA-01 unit from Evangelion. Each character will be available as part of a season or individually, and that will include their own stage and in-game items.

This DLC reimagines the heroes of SJHU in the same art style as the main game. In addition, each hero will have their own DLC pack with the playable character, a themed stage, and a badge referencing their most memorable items. Each DLC Pack will cost ¥550 (approximately $4) individually or ¥1,650 ($12) as part of the Shin Japan Heroes Universe Season .

SHJU is a collaborative project consisting of the Hideaki Anno-lead "Shin" movies for Ultraman, Godzilla, Kamen Rider, and Evangelion. The latter was originally released in Japan as Shin Evangelion, although it was localized worldwide as Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time.

SD Shin Kamen Rider Rumble will be available in Asia for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on April 27, 2023. After that, the Evangelion Pack content will be available on May 11, 2023, the Shin Ultraman Pack on May 25, 2023, and the Shin Godzilla Pack on June 8, 2023.

To celebrate the release of the new Shin Kamen Rider movie, and continuing with the franchise crossover collaboration, a new Shin Kamen Rider x Evangelion pop-up shop will open in select Marui stores throughout Japan. The cities that will receive these pop-up shops include Tokyo, Hakata, and Osaka. Merchandise of beloved Evangelion characters doing iconic Kamen Rider poses and holding plushies based on Kamen Rider characters will be offered on sale.

The locations available for the Shin Kamen Rider x Evangelion pop-up shop include the Yurakucho Marui and Shinjuku Marui stores, both located in Tokyo, and will remain open from March 17 to April 2, 2023. The Hakata Marui store will appear throughout April 8-23, 2023. Meanwhile, the Namba Marui store is located in Osaka, and its pop-up shop will appear from April 29 to May 21, 2023.

Shin Kamen Rider is the new movie in the massively popular Kamen Rider franchise. This new entry serves as a reboot of the original Kamen Rider TV show, and it was produced in order to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The original Kamen Rider TV show ran from 1971 to 1973.

Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno is the producer, director, and concept designer for Shin Kamen Rider. Aside from his work in creating Evangelion, Anno is known for being one of the leads behind the “Shin” trilogy of tokusatsu franchise reboots. Shin Godzilla, released in 2016 in Japan, is the first entry in the trilogy, and 2022’s Shin Ultraman is the second one.

To celebrate the release of Shin Kamen Rider and the recent completion of the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series, an Evangelion x Shin Kamen Rider collaboration bar will open from March 10, 2023 until May 28, 2023.

Shin Kamen Rider will premiere at select Japanese theaters on March 17, 2023 and release nationwide the following day.

The Evangelion x Shin Kamen Rider bar will open in Kabuki-cho, Shinjuku on March 10, 2023. It will remain open until May 28, 2023. The bar will be an izakaya (Japanese-style pub), and it is the result of a collaboration between the latest releases in both franchises, which are both directed by Hideaki Anno. The Evangelion menu includes menus inspired by characters such as Shinji Ikari, Ryoji Kaji, and Kaworu Nagisa. The items offered reference famous lines and scenes in the series. Some of the items return from other menus offered in 2018 and 2019.

The Shin Kamen Rider items are named after Hayato Ichimonji, the second Kamen Rider, and the evil organization “Shocker.” Both make an appearance in the new movie. You can check out some of the menus in further detail in the gallery below.

Hideaki Anno wrote and directed Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time and Shin Kamen Rider, the latest entries in both franchises. The SD Shin Kamen Rider Rumble trailer replicates the opening sequence of Shin Kamen Rider, which was heavily inspired by the original 1971 Kamen Rider intro. The trailer shows off gameplay footage, featuring Kamen Rider, Takeshi Hongo, beating through waves of goons from SHOCKER. SHOCKER is the secret organization that kidnapped Takeshi and turned him into the cyborg super soldier Kamen Rider. The Shin Kamen Rider incarnation will fight both with and without his helmet, and spends a fair amount of time wearing a black overcoat over his cybernetic armor.

The game itself is a side-scrolling brawler-style title, though it appears to incorporate systems to gradually improve Kamen Rider's abilities. Kamen Rider also goes into battle against Kumo Augment, a SHOCKER-created monster from the film and its version of the classic monster Man Spider. Kamen Rider also deploys his famous Rider Kick super move to annihilate his foes.

Bandai Namco Games will publish a Shin Kamen Rider game for the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. The title is SD Shin Kamen Rider Ranbu. It will come out on March 23, 2023. While we know that Bandai Namco will be the publisher, we do not yet know the developer for the game. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Since this news comes from a third-party source, Bandai Namco will likely make an official announcement detailing the game-play and developer in the near future. As an SD-style game, the characters will have chibified models. SD Shin Kamen Rider Ranbu will be beat ‘em up where you fight against the SHOCKER troops. There will be a wide variety of moves that you will be able to pull off. You can also power up your Rider through food and coins you gain through battle, as well as through changing up what badge they have on.

Because the game is a tie-in to the Shin Kamen Rider movie, it will have some spoilers for it. The movie, which as Hideaki Anno of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame as the director and writer, will come out in Japan in March 2023. Though the exact release date of the movie is still unclear, the two will not come out on the same date.

SD Kamen Rider Ranbu will come out for the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC in Japan on March 23, 2023.

Hideaki Anno's Shin Kamen Rider reboot film isn't in theaters yet, but a spin-off manga is already in the works. It's called Shin Kamen Rider Shocker Side (or Shoker Side). It'll debut in the pages of Young Jump magazine [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

No visuals from the manga were available, but key credits are already known. Shin Kamen Rider Shocker Side will be written by Kyuri Yamada. Yamada create the sci-fi manga AI no Idenshi ("Genes of AI"). The art will be provided by Akeji Fujimura. Fujimura created the manga series Kami-sama no Iu Toori ("As the Gods Will"). The manga is said to draw on or depict the film's "Greatest Villain." Whether this refers to an individual character or a larger group isn't specified. "Reboot" films like Shin Kamen Rider, Shin Ultraman, and Shin Godzilla often play with and revise portions of the "lore" of their inspirations, so whatever Shocker Side refers to might not necessarily appear as it does in the original works.

In Kamen Rider, Shocker is the original evil organization of the series. Agents of Shocker kidnapped Takeshi Hongo and Hayato Ichimonji to turn them into the Kamen Rider super-soldiers. Led by a singular "Great Leader", Shocker has taken on many forms and incarnations throughout Kamen Rider's decades of history. In Shin Kamen Rider, SHOCKER is an acronym standing for "Sustainable Happiness Organization with Computational Knowledge Embedded Remodeling." A promotional app for the film is called "The Official SHOCKER App", and delivers marketing content in the form of propaganda drops from "Shocker Staff".

Shin Kamen Rider Shocker Side will debut in the pages of Young Jump magazine. The film will premiere in Japan in March 2023.

Toei Films released a new trailer for Shin Kamen Rider, giving viewers the most substantial look yet at the film and Kamen Rider 2. Previous teasers served more as callbacks to the aesthetic of the original 1971 TV series.

The Shin Kamen Rider trailer consists of mostly new footage, showing off Kamen Rider (played by Sosuke Ikematsu) and Ruriko Midorikawa (played by Minami Hamabe) in costume. Kamen Rider is also shown fighting, riding his Cyclone motorcycle, and performing while wearing the trench coat first seen in concept and promotional art for the film. The trailer also gives viewers glimpses of the monsters Man Spider and Wasp Woman, both with new, updated designs. of Shocker, the villainous organization that kidnapped Takeshi Hongo and turned him into Kamen Rider are shown briefly.

Finally, the trailer shows another man (played by Tasuku Emoto) who appears in a seemingly identical Kamen Rider uniform confronting Takeshi. The man is Hayato Ichimonji, known in the original series as Kamen Rider 2 (or Kamen Rider No. 2). In the original series, Kamen Rider 2 was a second cyborg super-soldier constructed by Shocker to defeat Kamen Rider 1, but became Kamen Rider 1's ally and partner.

The second poster reveals that the reboot's version of Shocker is actually an acronym for "Sustainable Happiness Organization with Computational Knowledge Embedded Remodeling." A QR code on the SHOCKER poster links to the "Official SHOCKER App" on the Japanese Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Those might be the key factors in a new initiative called Shin Japan Heroes Universe, which may be aiming to unite the four under one banner.

Though the tweet encouraged those interested to wait for new information, an official website opened up that hint at what's to come.

The site describes Shin Japan Heroes Universe as a "miraculous project" uniting the four works. It was launched by agreement between Toho, Studio Khara, Tsuburaya Productions, and Toei. The art shown off in the tweet was created by artist Mahiro Maeda. After spending his early career at Studio Ghibli, Maeda became major contributor to the works of anime studio Gonzo, helping create shows like Blue Submarine No. 6 and Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. He helped design angels and work on Evangelion 3.0 and 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time. The Shin Japan Heroes Universe logo was designed by Yutaka Izubuchi, an artist and designer with credits on works like Ergo Proxy, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, and Mobile Police Patlabor. He also designed the new logo of the SEELE organization in Rebuild of Evangelion. Both artists will be heavily involved with whatever the project comes up with.

Shin Japan Heroes Universe is in development. Shin Godzilla is available on streaming services and via retail, while Evangelion 3.0+1.0 is available on Amazon Prime Video. Shin Ultraman releases in Japan on May 13, 2022, while Shin Kamen Rider is dated for March 2023.

It will be a while yet before audiences get a chance to see Shin Kamen Rider. The planned "reboot" movie, based on the original Kamen Rider series and directed by Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno, is still scheduled to open in early 2023. However, Shin Kamen Rider's newest preview trailer released during a September 30, 2021 press event promoting the production. The event also showed the world the first look at the movie's stars in their costumes.

The Shin Kamen Rider event actually debuted two trailers, each very similar to the other but cut differently.

The Shin Kamen Rider "A" trailer is an almost shot-for-shot remake of the original 1971 Kamen Rider intro. Only, it shows the new costume and what looks to be two new versions of the Cyclone, Kamen Rider's customized motorcycle. The "B" trailer, meanwhile, uses a few more dynamic angles, and seems to include different sound effects for the motorcycle. Both trailers replace the narration at the end with shots of what looks to be the villain. The villain also appears to be new, without a close resemblance to any particular monster or baddie from the original series.

The event also provided at look at two actors from the film: Sosuke Ikematsu and Minami Hamabe. Ikematsu played Ryuzaki in the 2016 Japanese live-action Death Note sequel, while Hamabe appeared in live-action adaptations of Ace Attorney, Saki, and Kakegurui.

In Shin Kamen Rider, Ikematsu will play Takeshi Hongo, the brilliant young man abducted by the secret organization Shocker. Takeshi was then modified into a powerful cyborg, Kamen Rider No. 1. Hamabe plays Ruriko Midorikawa, daughter of Dr. Midorikawa, a scientist who helped Takeshi escape Shocker's clutches before they could brainwash him into becoming their super-soldier. Hiroshi Fujioka and Chieko Morikawa played the original Takeshi and Ruriko.

While Ruriko's bright red coat is a departure from her original look, Takeshi's design as Kamen Rider No. 1 is very close to the original, with some modern touches. The chest plates seem more rigid, detailed to suggest metal or plastic armor. The Transformation Belt Typhoon also looks altered, with new parts and individual blades for the fan in its buckle.

Shin Kamen Rider debuts in Japan in March of 2023. Hideaki Anno is also working on Shin Ultraman, due in 2022.

Toei is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its Kamen Rider tokusatsu superhero franchise and announced a new feature film. That project is Shin Kamen Rider, which will be directed and written by Neon Genesis Evangelion creator and Shin Godzilla co-director Hideaki Anno. Alongside Shin Ultraman, this will be the third film to date involving Anno "rebooting" classic tokusatsu characters.

The Shin Kamen Rider announcement came as part of a special 50th Anniversary livestream, which aired messages from various creators and Anno himself. In his message, Anno stated that "50 years ago, nearly every schoolboy was fascinated with Kamen Rider, and I was no exception. 50 years later, I began this film project in the hopes of returning the favor in some small way."

There was also a teaser trailer featuring music from the original Kamen Rider show, followed by key art for Shin Kamen Rider and a release window of March 2023:

The art shows a stylized illustration of Kamen Rider wearing a long dark coat, a red scarf, a glowing transformation belt, and sporting glowing red eyes. It's unclear if this particular Rider is meant to be a new version of the original Kamen Rider 1 or an entirely new Rider.

Created by Shotaro Ishinomori in 1971, Kamen Rider is one of Japan's most iconic and enduring hero franchises. New Kamen Rider shows have aired almost yearly since then, each new series adding a new cast, setting, and concept to the expanding multiverse. Multiple feature films and reboots have also been produced. In fact, this isn't even the first Kamen Rider film with Shin in the title: 1992's Kamen Rider Shin posited a more adult, horror-style take on the hero.

Shin Kamen Rider is expected in March of 2023. Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and other classic tokusatsu series can be found on various streaming services like Shout Factory and Toei Tokusatsu World, but the selection varies. Fans can also play various Riders in games like Kamen Rider: Memory of Heroez on the Switch and PS4.
