Build-a-Bear announced a new series of Sanrio plush, with stuffed animals of Cotton Candy Cinnamoroll, Cupcake Kuromi, Chocolate Chip Pochacco, and Donut Pompompurin with “sweets” themes based on desserts now available. As a note, one of them is an online-exclusive. You can only get the dressed and undressed versions of Pompompurin through the website. The other three are in-stores and online. 

Each of these Sanrio characters features a somewhat standard look for the plush, but there are different accents to each stuffed animal’s fur to make it resemble a candy or pastry in some way. Pochacco is mainly white, as usual, but his ears are sepia toned with dark brown spots instead of plain black. Kuromi is far more pastel than usual, with sprinkles on her cap. Cinnamoroll has a pale pastel pattern all over, instead of being white. Like Pochacco, Pompompurin looks similar to his usual appearance, but his ears have sprinkles and his hat is pink with white icing and sprinkles on top. 

Here are the official pages and prices for each of these new plush. The undressed, standard stuffed animals with no accessories are all $38 each, but the dressed versions’ gift set prices vary slightly. In the case of Cinnamoroll, it’s slightly more expensive due to also including a wristie plush for the character to hold.

It isn’t uncommon for Build-a-Bear to release collections with different variants of these mascots. It happened for Valentine’s Day 2025, and Kuromi was part of that line too. There was also a Christmas collection in 2024 that also included both Cinnamoroll and Kuromi.

Cotton Candy Cinnamoroll, Cupcake Kuromi, Chocolate Chip Pochacco, and Donut Pompompurin plush are all available via Build-a-Bear, with all of the Sanrio stuffed animals except for Pompompurin being available both in-stores and online.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of My Melody and 20th anniversary Kuromi, Sanrio is teaming up with Seiko and Sunflame Watch Gallery to release some collaboration watches. Watches from both brands are readily available in Japan.

The Seiko watch costs 43,780 JPY. This converts to $303.05. You can purchase this watch at the Premico Online Shop, which does not seem to offer overseas shipping. The Seiko 50th anniversary My Melody watch has a metallic rose gold face, with Melody where the 6 is and a bow where the 12 is. An image of My Melody is etched on the back, and the watch will come in a box that resembles a cute pink cottage.

As for the Sunflame Watch Gallery products, you can choose between three variations. They cost 2,750 JPY each, which converts to $19.05. The My Melody watch is a pale pink with darker accents, and the Kuromi watch is black with pale lavender accents. There is also a watch with both mascots. It has a hot pink band with black accents. These watches are available while supplies last. As of the time of writing, Sunflame Watch Gallery reports 25 left.

The My Melody and Kuromi anniversary watches are available in Japan. Other initiatives for the milestone include a Squishmallow, CASETiFY accessories, and a Line theme.

Line Games just released a new Sanrio mobile game called Hello Kitty Friends Match on Google Play and the App Store. As the title suggests, it is a free-to-play, match-3 game. In addition to major characters like Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll showing up in the initial images, it also seems like some of the less visible characters like Corocorokuririn the hamster will also appear in it.

The idea in Hello Kitty Friends Match is that the Sanrio characters find themselves in Dreamland. However, it isn’t what it used to be, and a village they come to is completely dark and decimated. Players can then go through match-3 puzzles to help restore it. As they do, they can also get different types of costumes to dress up characters. 

Here’s the first trailer for the game that helps to set up the experience. The initial image shows that in addition to Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, and Corocorokuririn, we will also see Badtz Maru, My Melody, Kuromi, Pochacco, Keroppi, and Tuxedosam. Only these ten characters are confirmed at launch, and it’s unknown if or how many more could appear. 

There is a launch promotion going on. One of the most notable releases as part of it is a Cupid costume players can put on Hello Kitty. There are supposedly around 100 outfits at launch to earn.

Hello Kitty Friends Match is available on mobile devices. The other major Sanrio game out now is Hello Kitty Island Adventure, which is on the Switch, PC, and mobile devices with new ports headed to the PS4 and PS5 in 2025.

Sanrio has published the mid-term interim results of its 40th Sanrio Character Ranking poll, where it counted votes that arrived by May 6, 2025. It shows that Pompompurin is maintaining the first spot in the ranking, with the 2004 winner Cinnamoroll still closely trailing at second.

While the early-day initial results in April 2025 only showed the top 10, Sanrio extended the list to the top 20 for the newer interim results. The company also expanded the separate overseas country region rankings from the top 5 to the top 10. In addition, it revealed that Jewelpet newly occupies the 40th rank as a special highlight of the 40th poll.

Pompompurin retaining the top spot in the mid-term interim results for the ranking is already a feat by itself. In the 2024 poll, Pochacco initially led the group, but Cinnamoroll overtook him in the interim results.

Sanrio will announce the final results of the poll on June 29, 2025. The company had also revealed on social media that it will hold a physical public viewing event for the final announcement at the Hello Kitty Show Box on Hyogo Prefecture's Awaji Island.

Once again, MegaHouse will release a collection of Sanrio Kaitai Puzzle Fantasy figures that shows the skeletons of the features characters, and this time the four in the collection will feature two My Melody designs and two Kuromi options. These launch at the end of June 2025 in honor of the characters’ anniversaries. (My Melody is turning 50, and Kuromi is 20.) As with past entries in this line, this will be a blind box collection, with a single one costing 1,210円 (~$8). So you won’t know which character or color you’ll get. Big Bad Toy Store is selling a full set of four, which is how they appear packaged on shelves, for $63.99. 

How it works is all of these Sanrio Kaitai Puzzle Fantasy Kuromi and My Melody figures is a figure you assemble by constructing the skeleton, then adding a layer showing part of the character on top of it. So you’ll start with the back half of the skeleton and pieces representing the heart and brain. Then, you put the “front” of the skeleton on. The puzzle is finished when you put on half of the character’s body so you can see their normal self on their right side and their skeleton still on their left. For this collection, the two Kuromi variants feature her with either a purple and white or black and white color scheme, and there are decorations on her ears. With My Melody, both options are pink and white, but her ears are either up or in a lop ear pose with decorations on them. Each one is 65mm (two and a half inches) tall.

We’ve seen these twice before. In 2023, models of Cinnamoroll, Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody showed up. Those variants only involved a pink and white My Melody and purple and white Kuromi. Another round returned in 2024, with Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody, and Pompompurin once again part of it. The run released in December 2024 in Japan included Hangyodon, Hello Kitty, another Kuromi variant, and Pochacco. Ones also appeared based on Justice League heroes and Delicious in Dungeon ones.

A collaboration pop-up store featuring Sanrio mascots and Piapro Vocaloids will appear in Tokyo station from May 9 to 22, 2025. Goods feature designs from illustrator Shiraho, as well as the characters wearing pajamas.

You’ll be able to find the Sanrio and Piapro pop-up store at Tokyo Character Street. It’s a shopping district in Tokyo station, with stores that feature merchandise of popular anime, cartoon, and video game characters. Some items will be available online as well, and the Tokyo Character Street online plaza offers international delivery. This means that you don’t need to be in Japan in order to purchase these items. As of the time of writing, the Sanrio and Piapro goods are not yet on the website.

The line-up of character and mascot combinations are:

As for the items, you’ll be able to get fan merchandise like ballpoint pens, stickers, acrylic stands, clear files, and acrylic keychains. You can also get a tote bag, though these will be available from May 17, 2025. Items range from 440 JPY (for a clear folder) to 4180 JPY (for a T-shirt).

The Sanrio and Piapro characters pop-up shop will open up from May 9 to 22, 2025.

Sunblink announced that the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Month of Meh, an event introduced in 2024 to celebrate Gudetama, is back for 2025. This will cover the full month and run until May 31, 2025, just like last year. The Friends, Furniture, and Frozen Peaks PC and Switch update is also on the way, with it on the former now and the console on May 22, 2025. 

Like in the Gudetama event’s debut in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Nisetama-san appears as a featured NPC for Month of Meh. Your goal as part of this campaign is to photograph him every day for the Nisetama Snap quest, just like we regularly photograph the lazy egg. You’ll also need to collect eggs for the Egg Shrine for rewards. There’s also new furniture and outfit items to collect.

Sega announced that Sonic & Friends entered the Sanrio Character Ranking 2025 poll as a collaboration between both companies. A key illustration featuring Sonic wearing a Hello Kitty hat was released alongside a short animation promoting the collaboration that appeared on TikTok.

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Eggman appear in the short anime video, and the characters will appear wearing accessories inspired by Sanrio characters in the coming days. Additionally, merchandise based on the Sonic and Sanrio collaboration will appear. We don’t know what the items will be yet, and more information will appear in the future.

You can check out the key illustration for Sonic the Hedgehog in the Hello Kitty hat in the Sanrio Character Ranking 2025 poll below. So far, the other five characters only appear as silhouettes in the official art. However, it is obvious that Kuromi is involved, and it seems that since that silhouette is red, it could be tied to Knuckles.

The voting period for the Sanrio Character Ranking 2025 is now open and will last until May 25, 2025.

As a reminder, Pompompurin is currently leading the poll as of the last update, followed by Cinnamoroll and Pochacco in second and third place. The tentative top 10 of characters in the poll was released in mid-April 2025, but the results are subject to change as more votes arrive.

Avail and Sanrio announced a new collection of shirts featuring Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody alongside the Honda logo and Super Cub branding. Avail will start selling these in Japan on April 26, 2025. WorldShopping shipping is available for those in other countries. All of them are unisex t-shirts in men’s sizes.

There are three different types of shirts in this Sanrio Honda collection at Avail, and each one is available in Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody designs. All of them are available in sizes medium and large. Depending on the style, the price varies. 

The first option features the Honda wing logo used for its motorcycles on the lefthand side. That will have one of the characters peeking over the top of it. Each character’s face will also appear as a helmet on upper righthand side above the slogan that reads, “Just doing what I love.” The character’s name will also appear on the front and sleeve. These are 1,800円 (~$13) each. 

The other 1,800円 (~$13) t-shirt option features more imagery. Each one has one of the characters riding a Super Cub on it, the Super Cub motorcycle itself, the Honda logo, the character’s name, and the “just doing what I love” slogan. These only feature a design on the front of the shirt. 

The last shirt style at Avail is the most expensive, as each one features designs on the front and back. On the front, there is the Honda logo in red with Hello Kitty, Kuromi, or My Melody sitting beside it. On the back are various logos, images of the character, Super Cub references, and the character’s name across the top. Those are 2,300円 (~$16) each.

U-Treasure is releasing some special Sanrio necklace charms for the ongoing popularity poll for 2025. There are three different designs for the charm—a circle, a heart, or a diamond—and ninety different characters to choose from, making for a total combination of 270 variations.

The artwork that U-Treasure uses for the Sanrio characters is from the 2025 popularity poll. Each necklace costs 27,500 JPY ($193.40), and it uses K10 yellow gold. Purchasing this necklace also counts as ing your favorite mascot. When you buy a necklace of a mascot, you’re also contributing 50 points to the mascot’s final tally in the popularity poll. So, even if you’re not voting on the Sanrio website, you can help push your favorite towards the Top 10.

The Sanrio popularity poll for 2025 is now open for votes via the official website. After choosing who you like, you have to give Sanrio some basic information on yourself for demographic research purposes. Between April 10 and 13, 2025, Pompompurin is in first place. Behind him are Cinnamoroll, Pochacco, Kuromi, and Hello Kitty. Yoshikitty is dead last. These are only initial results, but Pompompurin edging ahead of Cinnamoroll in the popularity poll may mean that 2025 is the year in which Cinnamoroll, the reigning champion for five years, finally gets dethroned.

There’s a Hello Kitty Island Adventure update, and it features the return of an old event and the debut of a new Aggretsuko visitor character and a new City Town story quest. The Imagination Celebration is back for the second year in a row, Puko can come to visit, and “Fruitful Friendship” began.

The Imagination Celebration event kicks off again in Hello Kitty Island Adventure on April 18, 2025. This involves finding Mystic Stones to meet certain reward tiers by picking them around Seaside Resort or from doing your Daily Quests. If you do, you can trade them for special medieval and fantasy items at the Resort Plaza temporary shop. The new trailer focuses on how that will work. We have until May 22, 2025 to collect items.

As far as the new Hello Kitty Island Adventure visitor character goes, it is Puko from Aggretsuko. She’s someone who debuted in the Netflix show based on the character.

The new City Town questline in Hello Kitty Island Adventure involves Keroppi. As you go through it, you can eventually help an orchard grow. This will gain access to new fruits, which you can take to Usahana’s Imagination Cafe to make Fruit Sandos. A handful of screenshots appeared showing that off.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available for the PC, Switch, and iOS devices via Apple Arcade now, and it will come to the PS4 and PS5 as well.

Sanrio has published the initial interim results from the Sanrio Character Ranking 2025 poll, and it shows that Pompompurin is temporarily leading the pack. The company counted the votes between the poll's launch on April 10, 2025, and Sunday, April 13, 2025.

People residing outside Japan can view the results via the official English website. It also includes an Overseas Country Region Ranking page that shows the top 5 results in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, the US, Brazil, the UK, Italy, , , Spain, Australia, Singapore, and Thailand.

Here are the top ten leaders in the initial interim results of the Sanrio Character Ranking 2025:

Even though Pompompurin is leading the initial run in the 2025 poll, his fans must keep a close eye on Cinnamoroll, who trails closely at second place. The latter stood in the same position in the 2024 poll's initial results, and he eventually overtook Pochacco in the mid-term interim results. Cinnamoroll won the 2024 poll and extended his streak to five consecutive wins since 2020.

The 40th Sanrio Character Ranking poll will close on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Sanrio will announce the mid-term interim results on May 13, 2025, and the final results on June 29, 2025.

Keychains of the Sanrio Monster Hunter monsters will appear in capsule toy machines around Japan some time during the second week of April 2025. There are ten variations to collect, and it costs 300 JPY ($2.10) per attempt.

These rubber keychains stand at around 50 millimeters tall, and the target audience is for people who are over fifteen years old. It’s likely due to the toys being a choking hazard for younger children. Here are the ten different Sanrio Monster Hunter keychains to collect:

This is the same line-up that Sanrio and Capcom came up with back in 2024 when it first announced the crossover project. Items that have appeared in the past include acrylic keychains, clear files, and stickers.

It’s unlikely that these Sanrio mascots will appear in Monster Hunter Wilds, which is the most recent entry in the Monster Hunter franchise. They’re part of a collaboration of physical and digital merchandise, rather than a crossover within the game. Monster Hunter Wilds came out in February 2025, and sold over 8 million copies within three days of release. It is currently Capcom’s fastest-selling game to date.

Monster Hunter Wilds is readily available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

Sanrio has formally opened the 40th Sanrio Character Ranking poll in 2025. People worldwide can vote for their favorite mascots, such as Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll, once per day until May 25, 2025. This year there will also be minigames and additional activities available to folks in Japan.

Due to the sheer popularity of the mascots, Sanrio works with Cloudflare to set up a waiting room to control the site's access traffic. Once people have entered the site, they can click the "Voting started" button to find the character list. They can then vote for as many characters as they like out of the 90 available choices, but the site will only allow them to vote for each mascot once per day.

Sanrio is also planning to publish interim results twice before the poll ends on May 25, 2025. The company will publish the first-day results on April 15, 2025, followed by the interim results on May 13, 2025. As a refresher for the 2024 edition, Pochacco briefly led the initial results before Cinnamoroll overtook him in the interim results. The latter ended up winning the whole poll, which also extended his winning streak to five since 2020.

As a side note, Sanrio's Japanese press release mentions additional campaigns, such as silhouette-guessing and jumping minigames, as well as a Partner Award poll that features pairs of Sanrio characters with other mascots, such as Expo 2025's Myaku-Myaku and Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog. However, these campaigns appear to be exclusive to Japan. Attempts to access the additional links from outside the country will be redirected to the primary English website, which only features the original poll.

The Hatsune Miku Cinnamoroll collaboration that basically started with a Nendoroid is now getting its sixth and seventh plush toy volumes consisting of an additional eight stuffed animals. The first four appear in Japanese arcades on April 24, 2025. The second four debut on May 23, 2025. 

In each case of these stuffed animal collections, there tends to be a theme for the Hatsune Miku and Cinnamoroll, and these plush lines are no exception. In the first one, we’re seeing both characters in matching poses involving their ears and hair. The first two feature the two of them making a heart pose. In Miku’s case, her pigtails come together to form the shape. For Cinnamoroll, it involves his ears. In the second one, the two are covering their faces a bit. 

The second set involves the characters in more cozy and relaxed moments. The first pair involves the duo sleeping. Miku is wearing her pajamas and yawning. Cinnamoroll is holding a teddy bear, wearing a nightcap, and sleeping. The other pair in this collection involves the two about to eat. Each one looks like it is holding a pastry with a pink icing swirl on top. 

Here’s how all eight of the new plush look:

This is a now ongoing series of stuffed toys and merchandise pairing up Hatsune Miku and Cinnamoroll. The first three showed up in March 2024. The second and third collections launched in August 2024. The fourth and fifth volumes put the two characters in new outfits. Now these latest ones involve different types of expressions and poses. 

These follow an array of general Sanrio and Crypton Future Media Vocaloid character plushes. In March 2025, three volumes appeared. The featured Vocaloids are Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Meiko, and Kaito. Meanwhile, the Sanrio mascots for that crossover are Cinnamoroll, My Melody, Pompompurin, Badtz Maru, Pochacco, and Tuxedo Sam. In that line, the Sanrio characters dressed a bit like the Vocaloids and vice versa.

The latest Hatsune Miku Cinnamoroll plush toys will appear in Japanese arcades starting on April 24, 2025, and a second collection launches on May 23, 2025.
