Western RPGs like Baldur’s Gate, Mass Effect, Fallout, and Dragon Age are all well known for having dating and romance options, but they are less common in JRPGs. While many JRPGs have romantic storylines, it’s less common that they have dating sim elements where you can choose from a variety of different partners. If you’re looking for a JRPG to play with dating sim or romance options, here are 10 of our favorites.

Fire Emblem: Awakening 2x1r25

When people think of JRPGs with romance options, many think of the Fire Emblem series, which has long allowed people to marry certain units and strengthen them. Fire Emblem: Awakening gets exceptionally deep into the romance options, and you almost need a spreadsheet in order to organize everyone optimally. Not only will you be planning out your marriage – and the spawn that ultimately comes from that relationship – but the marriage and children of your other units. Certain marriages will produce offspring with different traits that can give an advantage in battle, making romance strategic.

Persona 3 Portable 2736k

Almost since the beginning the Persona series has had romance and dating options – more on that later – but they became far more overt with the modern series. In these games you can romance as many people as you like, but just be aware that if you invite them out for a date at the same time, they tend to not vibe with it. We’ve chosen Persona 3 Portable to represent the series, as it has a male and female MC with different dating opportunities. One of the cheesy things I love about this is that if you date one of the characters that dies mid-game, there is a post game dialogue that lets you know they are just in a coma. There aren’t many JRPGs where smooching will save lives.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3o503h

Most of the games in the long-running The Legend of Heroes series have some dating or romance aspects, but the Trails of Cold Steel subseries takes it to a new level. There are four games in Trails of Cold Steel and while romances start fresh in every game, there are bonuses for characters that you romanced in other titles. In the first entry, if you choose someone to take to the dance near the end of the story, they’ll receive an EXP boost in the second game. It doesn’t just offer you additional cutscenes, but a few sweet rewards for your affections.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age 551z6n

Dragon Quest hasn’t always had romantic or dating options, but Dragon Quest XI added the option to date certain characters in the post game. It’s still completely optional, but it adds an extra layer to the after credits quests for those who are deeply invested in the game. After you’ve finished the main story you’ll be asked to rebuild Cobblestone and once done, you can choose another character to live with forever. While you can only technically marry Gemma, you can choose to cohabit with a number of other characters giving you some options.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon q6b1h

Most of the Yakuza games don’t have dating sim or romance options outside of hostesses and that always felt more friendly than romantic. Yakuza: Like A Dragon switched this up with its personality stats that dictate which of six women our protagonist Ichiban can date. While it’s completely optional, dating certain NPCs and party has huge benefits, and there is even a side story related to dating all six women at once. For a man who fails so completely in love in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth he’s quite the lothario in his debut game.

Summon Night 6: Lost Borders 261235

Screenshot of the protagonist from Summon Night 6
Image via Media. Vision

Many of these games have dating or romance elements as an aside to the story, but Summon Night as a series is known for being part JRPG, part visual novel, and part dating sim. This is the series you will want to jump into if you want the dating to be at the core of your gameplay. At the end of every chapter someone will you up on the rooftop, and you can decide how much you vibe with them. While Summon Night 6 has some localization issues, you should try out the series if you want the quintessential JRPG meets dating sim experience.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth g4h2k

Just like in the original Final Fantasy VII there are some hidden dating and romance options in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Things you do and say with different party throughout the game will determine how they feel about you, and this culminates in a date that you have at the Gold Saucer. In the original FF7 you could date Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie, or Barrett, with Aerith being the standard option – sorry Tifa fans – but Final Fantasy VII Rebirth adds two new options. Cloud can also date Red XIII in Rebirth, or if you haven’t shared enough romantic moments with any of these characters you’ll share a romantic date with the boys: Cid, Vincent, and Cait Sith. Yes, at the same time.

Unicorn Overlord 42183w

Unicorn Overlord is one of the best games of 2024, and it also is the JRPG with the most dating and romance options. It’s all about recruiting characters and organizing them into armies to fight for the cause, and almost everyone you recruit can be romanced and married. In fact out of 70 recruitable characters you can smooch more than 60 of them. You need to build your bonds with everyone, by giving gifts, eating with them or having discussions, and maxing out your rapport means you can hand over the Ring of the Maiden and marry them. Aside from showing your love to that character they gain +5 in every stat, so there are definite benefits to falling in love.

Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ i6c31

Technically Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ isn’t a dating sim in the sense that you don’t pledge yourself to one person, but you do choose which characters to spend your time with, and there isn’t enough time to get to know everyone. Finishing your bond with a certain character will give you a special final scene and item near the end of the game, giving you more incentive to spend as much time as possible with your favorites. There is a canon choice here that gives you more insight into the ending, but if you have a favorite teammate, you’ll want to make sure you spend your time with them as well.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin 2z5g47

Key art of Maya from Persona 2
Image via Atlus

The modern Persona series – Persona 3 onwards – put romance and dating at the forefront as an integral part of the gameplay. However, romance options began with Persona 2: Innocent Sin where our protagonist Tatsuya can choose to date Maya, Lisa, or Jun. Yes, Persona 2 had a same sex dating option, which the modern series will not give us for some reason. Your choice of romantic partner doesn’t have any major outcomes on the story, and if you play Persona 2: Eternal Punishment you’ll know that Maya is Tatsuya’s canon romantic partner, but it is still a beautiful touch to this early story.

As you may expect, the bigger the number the better the fighter, but it’s important to look at the role they play as well as the letter next to their names.

A buff man wearing a butterfly mask is clasping his hands in Pirate Yakuza

Sicko Snap is one of the most popular mini games from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and it’s back in style for Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Not only can you take pictures of those butterfly-bedecked buff men, but you can recruit new crew , grab a Golden Ball and complete two side stories if you do. If you want to play Sicko Snap in Pirate Yakuza, and you’re wondering what rewards you can grab, then here is everything you need to know about the popular mini game.

Sicko Snap is located at the Aloha Beach Trolley Stop in Hawaii. You can find this stop just north of the island’s main beach. When you approach the stop for the first time, a trolley will be there to pick you up. Enter the trolley and say you want to ride for a cutscene to begin. This will be your first round of Sicko Snap and will both unlock and complete the Snap Those Sickos! Again! sub story.

If you want to play Sicko Snap again, approach Kuroki at the same trolley stop and he will offer you three courses to try. You can also talk to him to redeem the points you gain while playing Sicko Snap. The main items to redeem are two new crewmates – including series favorite sicko, the diaper-wearing Patriarch Gondawara – a treasure chest, and a Golden Ball.

Once you have completed all three of Sicko Snaps three standard courses, you will unlock a new sub story, The Sicko Snap Saga. After you have completed the third track, go back and talk to Kuroki and he will tell you about a special sicko known as the Crystal Papillon. This sicko lives on a special island, and the police have been trying to catch up with him for some time.

You can now select this new course from Kuroki and it will play a little differently from the other courses. Firstly, you are on a boat that often stops as you try to quickly snap the sickos that appear. If you sur the points threshold on this course then you’ll be greeted by the Crystal Papillon at the finale.

Unfortunately, your journey isn’t over yet. You will need to snap several pictures of the Crystal Papillon’s crotch in order to weaken him. He is faster than any other sicko you have encountered so far, and your best bet is to snap as many pictures as possible once you get one photo in a good position.

You will know if you have weakened him enough as he will run into the middle of your frame and let you freely snap his pants. Once you have enough pants pics, a cutscene will play showing his arrest. Catching the Crystal Papillon comes with a number of rewards, and is well worth doing.

Kuroki will give you the Scope Ring, which will allow Majima to see where missing treasure and fortunes are on the map making them much easier to collect. Kuroki will also you as a crewmate. Finally, you’ll be able to purchase the Crystal Papillon from Kuroki in exchange for your Sicko Snap points. He’s one of the most powerful crewmates in the game and well worth picking up if you want to complete the Pirate’s Colosseum.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Release Date Bumped Up

Shen is back once again and he wants you to find his Golden Balls for him. If you collect all seven Golden Balls then he will grant you any wish you want, as long as you dream of owning a middle-aged man’s underwear. If you are stuck looking for Shen’s Golden Balls so you can return them to him, we have everything you need to snatch them up.

Here are the locations of all seven Golden Balls in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

All Golden Ball locations in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii b4p3x

If you read Shen’s text about the Golden Balls he will give you hints as to where you can find each one.

Chinese Medicine Shop

The first Golden Ball can be found in Chinatown on the west side of Hawaii. Head for Wan Shang Tong Herbal Medicine, the shop the text is mentioning. You will see a poster at the back of the shop featuring a man and a woman. Aim your grapple hook at the poster to claim your first Golden Ball.

Sushi Restaurant

The second Golden Ball can be found outside Shinobi Sushi at the very north east of Hawaii. There is a statue of a ninja outside the restaurant on top of the roof. Aim your grapple hook up at the ninja to claim your second Golden Ball.

Seaside Avenue pool

Seaside Avenue runs north to south on the east side of Hawaii. You can find it just to the east of Worldwide Market Village where Alo-Happy is based. There is a small nook facing west at the south end of the avenue. Here there is a wall with small holes so that you can see a pool on the other side. Peer through the gap and use your grapple to claim the third Golden Ball.

There are four pawn shops in Hawaii, but the one you want is Treasure Select Pawn (Hula Ave.) to the south east of the map. In the window you can see a mannequin dressed like a luchador. Enter the shop and aim your grapple at the mannequin from the side to claim the fourth Golden Ball.

Man chasing sickos

This is the only Golden Ball that can’t be found out in the wild. Instead you need to start the side story for Sicko Snap. Get on the trolley at Aloha Beach and after you finish the first part of the side story you’ll be able to talk to Kuroki and exchange your points. If you did well in the mini game you should have enough to purchase the fifth Golden Ball which is at the end of his inventory. If not, give Sicko Snap another go so you can purchase it.

Freak on top of Dunghill

For the last two Golden Balls you’ll need to go to Madlantis. If you stand in front of the bar, Dunghill, you will be able to see a grapple point. Once you are on top of the building, look up and around for another grapple point. You will see a man in a rather fetching outfit with a Golden Ball you are able to grapple.

The final Golden Ball is just to the side of the coliseum reception. You’ll see a man dancing behind a barrier to the one side and you can grapple the final Golden Ball from him.

Golden Ball rewards in Pirate Yakuza 6338b

Shen will text you once you have all seven Golden Balls. You have to meet him at the docks in Hawaii and he will thank you for bringing him his balls. He says he will grant you a wish in return, but it doesn’t matter what you choose here. No matter what you ask for you’ll receive Shen-san’s Panties, which are mostly useless but sell for $15,000.

The main reward for completing this substory is that Shen will you as a new crewmate. Unfortunately, he’s not that impressive, but you still need to pick him up if you want to collect them all.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. - A ninja kicks a man off the ground.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is a welcome release for those who have been wishing Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown had Rollback Netcode and 4K visuals. Being able to play online with speed and accuracy makes this a worthwhile purchase no matter what, although it is a bit of a disappointment that more stuff didn’t come with this new release. Just the same, if you’re interested in some good online play with a fighting system that seems at first (but hides monstrous depth), this is a solid and affordable purchase.

With Rollback Netcode being a core part of why this game exists, I dove into online play for a while to see how things were holding up. Across several nights of matches, I rarely had any problems with stuttering matches or janky play. Even when I did, it usually had something to do with the other player’s connection when I was running off of a wired connection. To further test things out, I played the game on Steam Deck with a wireless connection, and even then, things stayed fairly solid and steady unless the other player’s connection was extremely bad.

You can set what sort of connections you allow to go through in the Matchmaking options, as well as what Disconnect Rate you’re willing to deal with from your opponent as well. It gives you a lot of room to dictate how patient you want to be with bad connections. Even set to regular standards, I only ran into a bad connection or two every night. Those connection rates seemed pretty solid to me as I was playing against other low-level players like myself. I am far from skilled at Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., so the players I was facing were the types of folks to be running on all manner of connections. Still, things seemed pretty good when I played.

My performance was another story. I mentioned in previous coverage of Ultimate Showdown that the game’s three-button combat style was beginner friendly. That’s true to the extent that you have punch, kick, block, and the ability to press some directions or multiple buttons to get varied strikes. You can mash a decent amount in this game and still have some fun and pull some light combos (nothing like Special Style from Tekken 8, though). You can goof off here if you like, and thankfully there are ranked players at my level doing the same, but you will need to commit to this game and learning it to get anywhere. And, like I said in that other review, besides Arcade Mode and local matches, there’s not much to do here besides compete online. If you don’t want to improve, there isn’t much here for you.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. does offer a tutorial to get you going. This is vital, as I felt that I had an idea of how movement, blocking, and striking worked, but I did need some guidance on how to make use of the moves and take note of how they interacted in a match. Moving around the ring and evading felt fairly intuitive and were a big focus on how a match played out, and I needed a lot of practice to get that drilled into my head since I largely play 2D fighters. The game offers some brief explanations of how your movements work in the basic tutorial so that you know why you’re sidestepping, but I still found I needed the lessons beaten into me before they started to click. Not that it’s the fault of the game. I just learn better when practically applying something over reading it.

The thing that tripped me up the most as I learned movement was the dedicated block button. Having to push a button to block (and use it to jump) took some time to nail down. This is a necessity due to the game’s focus on freedom of movement, which was nice as it made the game feel very different even from Tekken 8. Not that Tekken 8 doesn’t also emphasize movement and positioning, but it felt like I had so much freedom to step around the opponent and move back and forth in this game than I did in Tekken 8. It’s just much easier to take a little step around your foe with this control scheme, although my blocking suffered a great deal in the trade-off. It does add a little something unique to this title, but you may find the trade-off in blocking and jumping to be more irritating than it’s worth. Just prepare yourself to spend some time on movement to get used to it.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. - Akira flips Kage over his back in front of a temple.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. has a solid roster of fun characters to mess around with. El Blaze gave me some high-flying grapples (a decent complement to my beloved King from Tekken 8). Shun might remind you a bit of Jamie from Street Fighter 6 with his need to down drinks to give himself different moves and strikes. Akira just does a solid job at stomping the competition with damage output. They’re all fun and felt unique. That said, and this may be unfair to say given the source game’s age, but I just felt like the character designs didn’t grab me. They all feel a bit plain (maybe grounded in reality is more accurate to say), so I didn’t feel an immediate visual draw to anyone. It made it harder to really lock into a main and also left me feeling less interested in playing long-term. I just don’t find the designs here to be all that compelling when compared to other fighters over the years, and when I need to make a huge commitment to learn the moves of a character, I need to feel some visual pull keeping me locked into my character. Especially when movement and blocking feels weird.

There are some customization options to make your character feel more like your own, but they’re fairly bare-bones. I tinkered a bit with various pairs of pants and colored outfits, but there just weren’t that many options for the characters. You can tweak some colors, but that’s about it. This meant I could make some really gaudy characters, sure, but I was hoping for a bit more freedom or creativity in the base creation system. As is, you can make some small changes if you like, but I didn’t see anything that really made me want to keep coming back and making new outfits.

I came into Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. knowing that it wasn’t offering anything new besides Rollback Netcode and 4K visuals, but I still felt that I wanted more the longer I played with it. I am still puzzled that the single player Quest Mode was not put back in as it might have helped justify purchasing a game I felt I already bought years ago with Ultimate Showdown. Many other games have added Rollback Netcode in an update of some sort, so having to buy a game I already own again to get it felt a bit silly without some other features to get me interested. The 4K visuals do look nice, but I just personally felt like these features weren’t enough to ask me to pick up the game again. Yes, Ultimate Showdown is only on PlayStation and this version is only on Steam, but it still feels like a little something more would have made this an easier purchase to make.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is worth picking up if you just want to play as Akira and smash some folks with more accurate online play thanks to the game’s Rollback Netcode. The game is solid online and features a large roster of fun, unique characters (even if I find them visually dull) to keep you busy for years as you learn the nuances of how they fight. All the same, a few more extras or modes from past games might have made this purchase a bit more palatable. Even so, there’s a lot of fun and challenging fights to be had here.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is available on PC.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is available on PC.

rgg summit fall 2023

A new RGG Summit stream will take place on September 20, 2023 at 12pm JT. Outside of Japan, that would be September 19, 2023 at 8pm PT/11pm ET. The Fall 2023 RGG Summit will cover Yakuza titles from the studio, including Like A Dragon Gaiden and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Since there are two major titles coming out soon, it’s highly unlikely that RGG Studio will announce any new spin-offs or games during this summit. There is a better chance that we will learn the release date of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, as well as more information on its gameplay. As for Like A Dragon Gaiden, Sega previously announced details on it such as fighting styles, voice actors, and story.

With the release of the seventh mainline entry, Sega and RGG Studio rebranded the English version of the series from Yakuza to Like A Dragon. However, there was never an official explanation for the shift. Fans have made plenty of theories online as to the reason though. Sega did say that Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth's title has to do with the game's themes and plot. As for why, we will have to wait for the game's official release to see.

Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will come out on November 9, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth will come out on the same platforms in early 2024. The Fall 2023 RGG Summit will take place on September 19, 2023 from 8pm PT/11pm ET.

The Yakuza Complete Series is on sale on GOG, though it’s unclear how long the discount will last, and is available for the Windows PC. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will come out on November 9, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will launch for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC in early 2024.

Sega released more information on how you will be able to power up Ryoma Sakamoto in Like a Dragon: Ishin through training. Ryoma will have a different teacher for each of his four fighting styles. As well, for min-maxers, you will be able to get exclusive materials for weapons from places such as the Coliseum or Battle Dungeon. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

William is his teacher for the Gunman Stance. As Ryoma improves on his marksmanship, he can unlock special bullets, such as elemental ones. You will have to face off against William as part of his training. Other teachers will appear for training as you progress through Like a Dragon: Ishin. The more you train from them, the more techniques Ryoma will be able to use. Some training menus use mini-games instead, such as destroying training dummies under a time limit or a Stance limit. Another mini-game forces you to slice up cannons that fly towards you.

Once you finish up your training, Ryoma can test his skills in combat. You can search out wanted criminals and fight them after a chase sequence. Rewards include money and Revelations. The Battle Dungeon will also feature powerful enemies similar to the wanted criminals. However, there will also be traps you have to avoid, as well as mini-missions such as saving trapped townspeople.

As mentioned earlier, the Battle Dungeon is where you can get exclusive items to upgrade your weapons. That also means that it will have different challenges, such as a large number of gun-wielding enemies. This will force you to have to utilize different strategies or tactics than how you fight on the outside.

Finally, there is a Coliseum where you can fight to your heart’s content for valuable items. There is a knockout tournament that will give rare weapon materials, as well as give a chance to fight powerful enemies with unique weapons. There is also a mode where you have to fight through 100 enemies, with your prize money increasing depending on how many you defeat. A limit on this is that you cannot change your battle style. Both the Battle Dungeon and Coliseum can count as endgame content.

Like a Dragon: Ishin will come out on February 21, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

No Bakumatsu-era game is complete without cameos from famous historical figures, and Like A Dragon: Ishin is no different. In fact, the entire game relies on this, as the protagonist Sakamoto Ryoma and the Shinsengumi he s are both prominent in Japanese history and historical works. In Like A Dragon: Ishin, Ryoma will have to face off against Izo Okada and Yoshinobu Tokugawa. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

Ryoma will not be the only Bakumatsu-era samurai running around capable of special moves. Major enemies will be able to perform powerful attacks as well. Not only will Ryoma have to stay light on his toes, but he will have to upgrade his techniques and equipment as best as he can if he wants to survive these encounters.

Izo Okada, who was a notable assassin during the Bakumatsu era, can create a tornado with his sword in Like A Dragon: Ishin. This tornado can also inflict poison damage onto Ryoma. When poisoned, Ryoma not only takes damage after set periods of time, but he will also not be able to run. Fortunately, Izo changes his stance before he unleashes the tornado, which will give Ryoma time to prepare.

Yoshinobu Tokugawa was the final shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate and in Like A Dragon: Ishin, he can shoot out fire. His special move involves him releasing a beam of fire right in front of him. If Ryoma takes it head-on, it can inflict him with a Burn. You also cannot block this, which means Ryoma will need to dodge to the side to avoid it.

Like a Dragon: Ishin will come out on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC on February 21, 2023.

Alex Moukala will appear as a DLC Trooper Card in Like A Dragon: Ishin. When Ryoma summons him, he uses Essence of the Crescendo. According to the description, he can throw enemies away from Ryoma with a shockwave. The video also includes a video of Ryoma using it.

In an interview with Moukala, he stated that fans of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios games are similar to fans of indie music: When you’re a fan, you're really serious about it. He also states that Like A Dragon games have beautiful messages and “discuss themes usually not in games.” Moukala also has a YouTube channel, in which he rearranges themes and reacts to popular pieces. His other channel focuses on tutorials, teaching beginners how to write orchestral music.

Others who will appear as DLC Trooper Cards in Like A Dragon: Ishin are Kenny Omega and Rahul Kohli. In total, there will be six special guests. Because they are DLC, players do not necessarily need to them for their games. If they want to though, the DLC cards will be available from Early Access, which will be February 17, 2023.

As the release date of Like A Dragon: Ishin approaches, Sega released details on the game's various physical bonuses. One pack even includes a "life-size" wall scroll (called a tapestry in Japan) of protagonist Ryouma Sakamoto. These are only announced for Japan.

An update to the official Japanese website for Like A Dragon: Ishin (called Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin Kiwami in Japan) unveiled the game's various pre-order bonuses and physical editions. The most luxurious pack is the Super DX pack, sold on the Sega Store via online retailer Ebten for 19,899 Yen (about $149 USD). A version without the tapestry goes for 12,419 Yen (about $93 USD). The pre-order bonuses are currently only offered for the Japanese PS4 and PS5 editions of the game.

The life-size tapestry of Ryouma Sakamoto shows him wearing a Shinsengumi uniform with sword drawn. It's over 200cm long (about 6.5 feet), and made of suede.

Besides the aforementioned tapestry, the Like A Dragon: Ishin Super DX pack also includes a bamboo folding fan with two designs. One side bears the crest of Ryouma Sakamoto, and the other side bears Saito Hajime's crest. Another item is a sitting cushion. The top has a stylized rendering of the game's logo illustration, while the bottom shows a collection of all the characters' crests. Finally, a six-sticker set of the principal characters' family crests is included, alongside an extra large bromide card of the poster illustration.

During the RGG Summit at the TGS 2022, Sega showed off the Ambush trailer for Like a Dragon: Ishin. At well over five minutes long, the trailer shows off the story and how familiar Kamurocho characters look like in the 1860s Japan. This is a remake of the 2014 original and uses the Unreal Engine.

This is not a game in the Yakuza, or Like a Dragon, main continuity. Rather, it is a separate story based on the real Bakumatsu era, with Yakuza characters appearing instead as key historical figures. While Soji Okita and Shinpachi Nagakura may look and act like Majima and Saejima, respectively, they are their own characters. You will not be playing as Kiryu, but a Ryoma Sakamoto, who just happen to looks exactly like him somehow.

You can view the Ambush trailer for Like a Dragon: Ishin! here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wVSyxsUQHU

Some characters will look different in Like a Dragon: Ishin compared to the original. For example, Katsu Rintaro’s counterpart will be Masato Arakawa from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, whereas he looked like Minoru Aoyama before. As Shunsuke Daito’s Shigeki Baba was the counterpart of Like a Dragon: Ishin’s Todo Heisuke, this change may have something to do with certain actors’ contracts or availabilities.

In Like a Dragon: Ishin, you will be able to fight with your sword, your gun, or your fists. There is also a combat style where Ryoma wields both his sword and his gun at the same time. Heat actions will also make a return.

Like a Dragon: Ishin will come out in February 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. Like a Dragon 8 and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name are also in development.
