Good Smile Company opened orders for two Evangelion Plamax models of Rei Ayanami again, and as before each one lets someone build a figure of the heroine from the Rebuild of Evangelion movies. They are identical to the original run. This means one involves the traditional version of Rei Ayanami with short hair, while the other includes the long hair version that appeared later. Each one costs ￥7,700, regardless of the hairstyle. Both kits will ship in Japan in October 2025, with a worldwide release following after. The first run shipped in April 2024.

In each case, the model of Rei will involve her in her trademark white plugsuit. The only difference between the two is the length of her hair. The runners for the kit will already be in the correct colors, so you won’t need to do any large scale painting, however be advised that some finer details might require that. Good Smile Company noted it is ready for anyone of any experience level so it should snap together. I would recommend getting nippers for the smaller parts and to perhaps have some glue on hand just in case. 

Here are photos Good Smile Company shared of the finished kits. Each one will be under eight inches (200mm) when done, and a stand is included.

It also shared two photos of some of the runners included in the kits.

Both model kits also have their own Good Smile Company Online Store exclusive purchase bonus. Each one comes with an additional runner with an extra hair part that cane be swapped in for the base models. These are still short or long hair for Rei Ayanami figures, but instead of being solid they are translucent options for the Evangelion models.

Sega Plaza has announced the arrival of a new figure of Kaworu Nagisa holding the spear of Longinus that is based on his appearance in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. The new Kaworu figure is set to appear as a crane game prize in Japan sometime in Summer 2025.

The figure depicts Kaworu wearing the two-tone light purple plugsuit that he wears during the events of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, as the secondary pilot of the Evangelion Unit 13. In the figure, Kaworu is holding the spear of Longinus on his left hand, with his right hand extended in invitation. The base seems to be a piece of red debris with a red metal beam behind Kaworu.

The latest figure belongs to Sega’s Luminasta series of toys, which has seen the release of other Rebuild of Evangelion figures such as a black plugsuit Rei Ayanami figure that appeared in Winter 2024 in Japan.

Back in December 2024, Shift Up announced a second Evangelion event would appear in Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, and now we know it will return on February 20, 2025. As usual, this crossover is based on the Rebuild of Evangelion series of movies. 

There’s a new trailer to go along with this second NIKKE Evangelion crossover event, of course. This time, it starts with characters like Rapi, Anis, and Neon on a ship as a number of Angels appear. We then see the Evas return ist the sea turning red. A silhouette of the Asuka: WILLE version of Asuka Shikinami Langley shows up, as she’ll be one of the new SSR units. As other NIKKEs head into the fray, the Rei Ayanami (Tentative Name) SSR shows up alongside the SR Sakura Suzuhara. 

There are more details about when exactly certain characters will appear too. The Asuka: WILLE banner runs February 20, 2025 through March 13, 2025. Since she’s limited, that is the only way to get her. We need to wait a bit for Rei Ayanami (Tentative Name) to show up, as her banner starts on February 27, 2025. Once it does appear, it will also only be available until March 13, 2025. As for Sakura, she’ll be a unit we can earn by playing through the crossover event.

This is the second run of the NIKKE Evangelion crossover event. The first one in 2024 featured banners for SSR Asuka, Mari Illustrious Makinami, and Rei Ayanami, with people able to earn an SR Misato Katsuragi. Like these new banners, the characters were only available via the limited Pick Up Recruitment gacha. So you can only get them in-game when an event like this is live.

Good Smile Company showcased three Rebuild of Evangelion figures at WonHobby 39, with two being Asuka Shikinami Langley and Rei Ayanami swimsuit figures that are part of the company’s Beach Queens collection and Pop Up Parade lines. The third is a Qset+ Kaworu Nagisa and Shinji Ikari figure. 

Both the Asuka and Rei figures are the two that we’ll see appear first. Both appeared at the painted prototype phase at the event. Since they’re Pop Up Parade figures, they won’t come with extra parts or accessories. However, they are part of the Pop Up Parade L line, so they’ll be larger than seven inches like standard models. Asuka has a red and white striped swim tank on with a cover up and wears jean shorts. She’s holding a squirt gun and looks like she’s running in her pose. Rei is wearing a white bikini with blue hoodie over it. She’s standing while holding a white and yellow inflatable tube.

We saw a few other Beach Queens figures announced last year in 2024. However, those weren’t of Evangelion heroines. Rather, they were Alice, Asuna, and Leafa from Sword Art Online. We’ll start seeing some of those appear in stores in 2025. 

Meanwhile, the Qset+ Kaworu Nagisa and Shinji Ikari figure only showed up as an unpainted prototype. The two are sitting next to each other and smiling while wearing school uniforms. They’re listening to music from Shinji’s SDAT player together, with each one having one of the two headphones in their ears.

Good Smile Company is making more Evangelion Nendoroids, with new ones based on the Rebuild of Evangelion characters like Shinji Ikari and Eva Unit-01. There will also be a series of Nendoroid Surprise blind box figures based on the anime. No release window is available for any of them, due to how early in development the projects are. Everything came up during the company’s Nendoroid Funs 2025 Winter showcase.

Since both the Shinji and Eva Unit-01 figures are so early in development, there are no prototypes to show. The one for Shinji confirmed he’ll wear his plugsuit from the remakes, specifically from Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. The Eva-01 Unit may be further along in development. This is because the announcement image for it actually featured concept art of the unit in the classic Nendoroid chibi style. 

The Nendoroid Surprise selection is too early for there to be anything to show. During the presentation, Good Smile Company only showed a teaser image of the Rebuild of Evangelion logo instead.

It’s only natural that we’re seeing the plugsuit version of Shinji. Good Smile Company already announced ones of Asuka Shikinami Langley and Rei Ayanami. Those are set to debut in July 2025. 

The Rebuild of Evangelion Shinji plugsuit and Eva Unit-01 Nendoroids, as well as a series of Nendoroid Surprise figures, are in development. The movies are available to stream via Amazon.

Shift Up announced during the Goddess of Victory: NIKKE 2024 Special Christmas Livestream that there will be a new Evangelion crossover that brings with it new versions of Asuka Shikinami Langley and Rei Ayanami, Sakura Suzuhara as a unit, more costumes, and additional gameplay elements. It will debut in February 2025, though there’s no exact date for the event yet.

In addition to the returning characters of Rei Ayanami, Asuka Shikinami Langley, Mari Makinami Illustrious, and Misato Katsuragi, there will be three new ones. Two are going to be on the banner, while one can be earned. Asuka: WILLE and Rei Ayanami (Tentative Name) will show up on banners. These are new units that are alts of the existing ones. Each one is an SSR character. We’ll also be able to earn an SR Sakura Suzuhara for free. The long-haired version of Rei is also teased at the end of the trailer for the crossover.

There are also going to be six new costumes. Four are for the new versions of Asuka and Rei. The other two are for Mari. The free outfits will be Final Battle: Asuka for her new alt, Miss Lookalike from Village-3 for the new Rei unit, and Final Battle: Mari for Mari. The exclusive costumes are Mystery Muse for Mari, Soul Connect for the new Rei character, and Ocean’s Lament for the new Asuka.

Finally, some of the other new elements came up. There will be a 3D map to explore. That will be called The ire Sailing in the Red Sea. A bullet hell minigame will show up. Also, while the Massive Object will return as a boss, it will be “upgraded” and stronger than before.

Pre-orders are now open for the plugsuit Nendoroids of Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley from Rebuild of Evangelion. The figures are set to ship in July 2025, and they are specifically based on Evangelion 2.0. They are ￥6,800 (~$43) each.

The two Nendoroids depict Rei and Asuka in their plugsuits from Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance. Pre-orders for both figures are available through the Good Smile Company website until February 12, 2025, though other retailers will start taking pre-orders ahead of launch as well. The Nendoroids are only available separately, as there's no option to buy them together. Each figure comes with a special round base if ordered direct through Good Smile Company, with each one depicting each girl’s respective Eva designation. Rei gets a yellow base depicting the logo for Eva Unit-00, and Asuka gets a red base depicting the logo of Eva Unit-02

The Rei plugsuit Nendoroid comes with three facial expressions – serious, surprised and smiling – and she also has Gendo’s glasses case as an accessory. The Asuka plugsuit Nendoroid also has three expressions – energetic, glancing away and blushing – and her accessory is the hand puppet she speaks to in the Rebuild of Evangelion series.

Good Smile Company first announced the plugsuit variant Nendoroids of Rei and Asuka at Smile Fest 2024. However, no prototype for either figure was shown at the time. They’re not the first Nendoroids of the Evangelion girls, as Good Smile previously announced doll variants wearing their school uniforms, also from Rebuild of Evangelion.

Sega Plaza announced that a new figure of Kaworu from Evangelion will be appearing in the crane game machines from November 8, 2024. The figure also comes with a desk chair.

This figure sees Kaworu wearing the NERV commander uniform and it uses his depiction in the Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time film. Luminasta actually released a figure of Kaworu in a NERV commander uniform in the past. It came out in early June 2023 and was also a prize you could win in Sega Plaza stores. That one has Kaworu posing like he’s walking and turning around. This one, however, shows him standing with his hands in his pocket next to his chair. Like the previous figure, it’s a diorama-style figure that you can display.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time came out in 2021 and is the final film in the Rebuild of Evangelion film franchise. The first two films in the series was a retelling of the original television series, with new elements and characters appearing in earnest from the second one. However, the story becomes something quite new from the third one. Since the movie series started coming out in 2007, most new merchandise for Evangelion use the characters from that timeline rather than the original TV show.

The Evangelion 3.0+1.0 figure of Kaworu in a NERV uniform will appear in Sega Plaza crane game machines from November 8, 2024.

Alter announced the release of a new Evangelion figure of Asuka Langley Shikinami wearing a hoodie over her signature red plugsuit. The figure costs 25,080 yen (or about $174.46,) with its release date set for May 2025 in Japan. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

There is currently no information on when the figure will go on sale or pre-order. The new 1/7 scale Asuka figure is based on her appearance in the Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time anime film, the final entry in the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series. Alongside her red plugsuit, Asuka can be seen sporting an eyepatch on her left eye and a khaki green opened zip up hoodie.

The figure includes a high level of detail, with Asuka’s face featuring bags under her eyes. Additionally, two different head pieces are included. One of them features the hoodie covering Asuka’s head, while the other one has the hoodie down and her hair flowing on her back.

Other figures by Alter include a Merlin (Prototype) figure from Fate/Grand Order Arcade and a Genshin Impact figure of Fischl, both of which are coming in December 2024.

A new version of the Rei Ayanami Flare figure from Evangelion will appear for the first time in 17 years. The new figure costs 22,880 yen (or approximately $160.43) and will go on sale at the official Evangelion online store on September 26, 2024 .

The figure is scheduled to release in Japan sometime in August 2025. The rerelease of the figure by Flare will be a collaboration between illustrator Shunya Yamashita and sculptor Mitsumasa Yoshizawa. The duo worked together for the figure after deg the illustration and original garage kit back in 2007.

The figure depicts Rei Ayanami in a revealing dress version of her plugsuit. Her right eye is covered in bandages, just as it is during certain points in the anime. She is striking a dynamic pose, with both her arms raised and her hands crossed above her head.

As a reminder, Sen-Ti-Nel announced a new Evangelion figure of the Eva Unit-01 that turns the mech into a warrior clad in samurai armor. Pre-orders for the figure closed back on September 17, 2024.

Sega has revealed a new version of the figure modeled after Rei Ayanami from the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series. The company will release this figure in Winter 2024 in Japan.

The company originally released the tentative Rei Ayanami figure in February 2022. The new figure set will have the "30th Anniversary Version" moniker to distinguish it from the previous release. The new title will also match the franchise's anniversary milestone. While the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime started airing in October 1995, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's manga adaptation appeared first in late December 1994.

In the Japanese tweet, Sega mentioned that the new version will have a different base. People can see how the newer version will have a rocky base instead of a plain circle with the following comparison images:

This is not the only Rei Ayanami figure Sega is working on. The company has also revealed another figure featuring the long-haired Rei that will appear under its S-FIRE brand. Pre-orders for the latter figure are still available until October 7, 2024. Sega will release the long-haired Rei Ayanami figure in July 2025.

Shift Up announced four Goddess of Victory: NIKKE costumes for Evangelion heroines Asuka, Mari, and Rei, with some being available via a and one from a costume gacha. While the three from the es involve summer-themed looks, Asuka is the only one getting a Costume Gacha outfit based on a different plugsuit. 

The three Evangelion costumes in NIKKE are Cynical Street for Asuka, Leisure Travel for Mari, and Peaceful Vacation for Rei. You need to buy the Pilot in Summer for each character to earn them, then completely finish the to earn the attire. Asuka’s is available starting on August 22, 2024. Rei’s debuts on August 29, 2024. Mari’s shows up on September 5, 2024. All three Pilot in Summer es end on September 19, 2024.

There’s no animated teaser clip for the extra Asuka plugsuit. However, Shift Up did share a picture of her in the Test Plugsuit costume from the NIKKE Evangelion Costume Gacha. That banner is available starting on August 22, 2024, which is also when Asuka’s character banner debuts.

While Misato will appear as a free SR unit in the Evangelion crossover event, she won’t get any extra outfits.

Shift Up officially confirmed that Misato Katsuragi will be a playable character in the Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Evangelion event, and she’ll be a free unit we can earn. As such, she will only be an SR character, while the other three are SSR ones that we get by pulling on banners.

Misato will be a free reward in NIKKE during the special Memories of NERV Evangelion themed daily campaign. This is a 21 day event, with tickets for gacha banner pulls on the docket. According to the roap shared below, someone will need to at least three days to claim Misato.

People will also be able to get Misato Katsuragi for taking part in the Evangelion event in NIKKE. This is how you will get multiple versions of her. Shift Up didn’t note exactly which activities will award someone extras of her, but did note someone will be able to get up to three more of her via that method. The developer also confirmed that like the other three characters, Misato won't be available after the event ends on September 19, 2024.

The patch notes for the August 22, 2024 NIKKE update offered more details about the character. Misato will be a healer in the game. She’s classified as a er that uses an SMG known as Self-Defense Automatic Pistol. She’s also allied with NERV, like the other three characters in the event, and comes from the Abnormal “Manufacturer.” She deals Iron damage.

Since the Evangelion crossover event starts in Goddess of Victory: NIKKE this week, Shift Up shared Asuka, Mari, and Rei profiles, art of each posed behind cover, and the school uniform costumes you can get. All the characters will be available via banners, and the outfits will be event mission challenge rewards. 

First, here are all the teaser clips acting as NIKKE Evangelion profiles for the three characters. These videos don’t show what roles characters will play in parties or what types of damage they’ll deal. We also don’t know what types of Bursts they will have. However, we do know they are Abnormal units affilliated with NERV, and their weapons are known. So Asuka uses a Lightweight Assault Rifle.

Mari will use a Long-Range Precision Rifle.

Rei comes equipped with a Heavy Gatling Gun for Subdual.

As for the costumes, they appear after the banners for Evangelion characters they are tied to show up in-game. So the Asuka’s School Uniform will be available August 22, 2024 through September 19, 2024. Rei’s School Uniform will be around August 29, 2024 through September 19, 2024. As of time of writing, a Mari one hadn’t been shared on social media yet, but it seems likely she will also have a similar costume.

Shift Up announced that the next Goddess of Victory: NIKKE crossover will involve Evangelion characters. There is no exact start date for the event, with the official key art and first video only noting it is “coming soon.”

First, here’s the key art for the NIKKE event that features five Evangelion characters. From left to right, we can see Pen Pen, Misato Katsuragi, Mari Makinami Illustrious, Rei Ayanami, and Asuka Shikinami Langley. Given Mari’s appearance, this seems to be based on the Rebuild of Evangelion movies. On the right, we see Rapi, Anis, Neon, and Rei.

The first trailer features a computer with various news clips appearing. It starts with a pleasant Welcome Ceremony page that features Rei in the upper right corner commenting on the transfer students. After that, breaking news with Neon appears discussing a laser attack and D-Waves. There’s then a notice of a power outage at the Ark. The familiar Evangelion warning appears after that, and it seems we get a glimpse of the Sixth Angel. This is followed by the key art imagery.

This is the second recent crossover for NIKKE. One featuring the game Dave the Diverappeared in July 2024. It will be the third one tied to an anime series, as the previous two involved Chainsaw Man and Re:Zero.
