US Pokemon Center Now Selling Penny’s Eevee Backpack

The US branch of The Pokemon Center announced that the Penny’s Eevee backpack, based on the accessory worn by the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet character, is now in-stock. It can be found online for $69.99. This does mean it qualifies for free shipping, as the tier to clear for that is $20.

This backpack is designed to be an exact replica of the one Penny wears throughout the game. The fluff around the Pokemon’s neck covers the upper parts of the straps and goes over a person’s shoulders. To store items inside the plush, you need to open a zipper on its stomach. It is over a foot tall, at 13 inches, and 11 inches wide. It could also be used for cosplay purposes, in addition to everyday wear.

Here’s a closer look at the Penny’s Eevee plush backpack from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet from various angles, as well as some photos showing it being worn by an individual to provide a better sense of scale.

While this is now available on the US storefront, we actually have seen the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Penny’s Eevee backpack before. The Pokemon Company released it in Japan back in September 2023. When it launched back then, it cost ¥6,930 (~$47).

The Penny’s Eevee backpack is available via the US Pokemon Center now, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.

Seven-star Skeledirge Tera Raids are currently available in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, and will continue to run until Thursday, March 13, 2025. If you want to catch the powerful generation nine Fire-type starter for yourself, here’s the best Pokémon to counter the Skeledirge Tera Raid.

Skeledirge the Unrivaled 3m3r44

There are two aspects that make Skeledirge so dangerous and difficult to take down. It’s already a strong Special Attacker, but it can quickly boost this by using Torch Song. This can quickly snowball, meaning Skeledirge will be able to grab one-hit knockouts before you are able to retaliate. The other difficult point is the ability Unaware, which ignores your stat boosts. This means you will need to lower Skeledirge’s defensive stats, and prevent it from boosting its offensive stats.

Skeledirge’s base stats and Rash nature mean that it’s best to enter this battle with a Special Attacker. While you can’t boost your stats, you can lower Skeledirge’s stats, so you’ll want a Special Defense lowering move like Acid Spray, Metal Sound, or Fake Tears. Skeledirge has a lot of sound-based moves as part of its set. Disarming Voice, Hyper Voice, and Torch Song, are all blocked by things like Throat Chop, and Soundproof.

Here are all the details you need for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Skeledirge Tera Raid event.

  • Level 100
  • Nature: Rash (+SpAttack -SpDef)
  • Ability: Unaware
  • Tera type: Fire
  • Moves: Torch Song, Shadow Ball, Stomping Tantrum, Hyper Voice

Skeledirge opens with Disarming Voice, and Flame Charge. It resets player stats at 80% time remaining and then puts up the shield. At 50% health remaining Skeledirge resets its stats and status, and uses Flame Charge again.

Malamar – Best for Skeledirge Tera Raid 1gu5s

Malamar can not take out Skeledirge the Unrivaled by itself, but it is one of the strongest Pokémon for this Tera Raid. Contrary will drop Skeledirge’s Special Attack instead of raising it when it uses Torch Song, and you can give it this ability with Skill Swap. Make sure you then swap Unaware onto one of your NPC teammates so you can take advantage of the lowered Special Attack.

Throat Chop can also prevent Torch Song (as well as Hyper Voice) while Normal Tera prevents Shadow Ball from hitting. This means that Skeledirge can only hit with the Physical move Stomping Tantrum. Malamar can not only give your team longevity, but it can boost Water-type Special Attackers, like Primarina or Tentacruel, with Rain Dance, and help any partner out with Helping Hand.

Here’s the set we recommend for the seven-star Skeledirge Tera Raid:

  • Level 100
  • Nature: Careful (+SpDef -SpAttack)
  • EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 4 Attack
  • Ability: Contrary
  • Tera type: Normal
  • Item: Leftovers
  • Moves: Rain Dance, Throat Chop, Skill Swap, Helping Hand

Tentacruel – Best for Attack and in Skeledirge Tera Raid 102o3k

Screenshot by Siliconera

If you’re looking for a Pokémon that can take on the Skeledirge raid solo, Tentacruel can do it, but it also works well as a team player. While Unaware ignores your stat boosts, it won’t ignore its stat drops, meaning that Acid Spray is the perfect for lowering Skeledirge’s Special Defense. Tentacruel has naturally high Special Defense, and Throat Chop disables most of its moves including the terrifying Torch Song. Players should use Throat Chop on the first turn, and use it again every third turn after this.

If playing in a team of Special Attackers, Acid Spray will lower Special Defense even when Skeledirge raises the shield. Rain Dance will both boost Tentacruel’s damage with Surf, and lower the damage of any Fire-type moves that Skeledirge uses. It might take a few attempts to clear the raid solo with Tentacruel, but it is definitely possible.

  • Level 100
  • Nature: Calm (+SpDef -Attack)
  • EVs: 252 SpAttack / 252 SpDef / 4 HP
  • Ability: Rain Dish
  • Tera type: Water
  • Item: Shell Bell
  • Moves:  Acid Spray, Rain Dance, Surf, Throat Chop

Kommo-o – Best for Solo Skeledirge Tera Raid 3t6d3g

Kommo-o terastylizing to Normal-type during the Skeledirge Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Screenshot by Siliconera

If you want an easier time taking on the Skeledirge raid solo, then Kommo-o has the perfect mix of ability and movepool to take Skeledirge down. While Torch Song won’t affect Kommo-o thanks to its ability Soundproof blocking all sound-based moves, it can still boost Skeledirge’s Special Attack for Shadow Ball. This is why you want to start the raid with a few Throat Chops so you can terastylize to Normal-type, avoiding almost all of Skeledirge’s damage.

Metal Sound can lower Skeledirge’s Special Defense, however, it won’t work while the shield is up. Despite this, Normal Tera with Boomburst deals enough damage to get the barrier down fast enough so you can soften Skeledirge up with Metal Sound for future Boombursts.

  • Level 100
  • Nature: Calm (+SpDef -Attack)
  • EVs: 252 SpAttack / 252 SpDef / 4 HP
  • Ability: Soundproof
  • Tera type: Normal
  • Item: Shell Bell
  • Moves:  Throat Chop, Boomburst, Metal Sound, Substitute

paradox pokemon blind box

Bandai released a new Pokemon blind box collection focusing on the Paradox Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet. It came out in Japan on February 24, 2025, and it costs 242 JPY ($1.60) per box.

There are 16 Pokemon in total to collect. Aside from a little toy, you can also receive a soda-flavored gum. The species you can get in the Paradox Pokemon blind box collection are:

  • Arboliva
  • Dipplin
  • Dudunsparce (Two-Segment Form)
  • Eevee
  • Girafarig
  • Glaceon
  • Great Tusk
  • Iron Treads
  • Mankey
  • Milcery
  • Ogerpon (Teal Mask)
  • Scream Tail
  • Sinistcha (Masterpiece Form)
  • Sinistcha (Unremarkable Form)
  • Tinkaton
  • Toedscool

As a note, the Sinistcha (Masterpiece Form) toy is a special one. So if you get that one, you’re extra lucky.

Not all the Pokemon are Paradox Pokemon, and the majority of them are Pokemon that debuted in Generation IX (Scarlet, Violet). It also includes classically popular Pokemon like Eevee and Milcery, as well as older Pokemon who received renewed attention from fans thanks to the introduction of new evolutions.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, or Generation IX, are the latest mainline entries in the Pokemon series. They came out in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch, and a three-part DLC story. GameFreak also announced Pokemon Legends: Z-A as part of Generation IX, but there’s not been any information on it since the Pokemon Presents in 2024. However, more information on it may appear during the stream on February 27, 2025.

The Paradox Pokemon blind box collection is available in stores around Japan.

New Pokemon Plastic Model Kit Quick Character Is Pawmi

Bandai Namco announced that its next character in its Pokemon Plastic Model Kit Quick collection will be Pawmi from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The new kit will release in April 2025. It will cost 715円 (~$5).

As this is one of the simpler model kits, there are no extravagant extra parts. The picture of the model kit sprues shows two sheets with 21 pieces. These are already in the colors you need, so no painting is required. A sticker sheet comes with for extra accents. No glue is required, and you don’t need a nipper to remove the parts. The final item will be 82mm (~3in) long. There are no moving parts or extra faces.

Here’s how the Pawmi will look when complete:

No retailers that ship to the US are showing the Pawmi Pokemon Quick model kit yet. However, the AmiAmi Japanese branch already has a listing for 530円 (~$4), so we could start seeing it showing up at other stores. These Bandai Spirits kits do tend to appear worldwide, with Entertainment Earth already carrying the Psyduck entry in this line that released this fall and Amazon offering others like the Charmander and Quaxly

While kits in this line are more rudimentary, Bandai Namco does make more elaborate ones. The Meowscarada one, which launches in February 2025, is an example. However, they also end up being more expensive as a result.

The Pawmi Pokemon Quick model kit will release in Japan in April 2025. It’s likely we’ll see it worldwide sometime after. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.

pokemon scarlet violet trainers goods

The Pokemon Company will release goods based on the trainers from the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC. You’ll be able to get merchandised themed around Kieran and Carmine, as well as the Elite Four of Blueberry Academy. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The Pokemon Center will start carrying these items from December 5, 2024. Then, they’ll appear in physical locations from December 7, 2024. These items are limited to the Japanese Pokemon Center, so people who live outside of Japan will need to purchase them via proxy sites or hope that their local hobby stores will carry them.

You can check out the prices and items via the official Japanese Pokemon website. Some of the goods include acrylic dioramas, a Hydrapple plush, Lacey's barrettes, multi-use holders, and pens. The pens show Carmine and Penny (who is from the main game and not the DLC) doing the dance from Mochi Mochi Mayhem. There is also a Kieran-shaped pouch that you can use to hold coins. This pouch is reversible, meaning you can change the design to how Kieran looked in the Indigo Disk.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are readily available on the Nintendo Switch. The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers goods will appear in Japan from December 5, 2024.

pokemon scarlet violet nintendo switch online avatars

Until November 25, 2024, Nintendo Switch Online s will be able to redeem Pokemon Scarlet and Violet avatars and accessories. This is the first wave, and there will be a weekly rotating set of rewards until January 6, 2025. [Thanks, PokeJungle!]

The first wave of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet avatars and accessories focus on characters from the DLC. Aside from Carmine and Kieran, you can also get Pokemon like Ogerpon, Black Rayquaza, and Terapagos. Some of the backgrounds and frames are a little less obviously from Pokemon. For example, you can get a frame that looks similar to the Terastalize phenomenon or a background that looks like one of the ground murals in the Paldea region.

We will have to wait until next Monday to see what other avatars Nintendo Switch Online s will be able to get. So far, we don’t know if we’ll be able to see characters or Pokemon from previous generations. As the latest Pokemon game, it’s of little surprise that the first wave focuses on Scarlet and Violet. Not only that, but it is the best-selling Pokemon game within its native country of Japan, beating out Red and Green for the first time in 28 years.

The latest mainline entry in the Pokemon franchise, Scarlet and Violet, is readily available on the Nintendo Switch.

Shiny Rayquaza Will Appear in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Next Month

Nintendo announced that we will get a chance to catch a shiny Rayquaza in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in December 2024 and January 2025, thanks to a Tera Raid Battle event. It will be available in the two Switch games between December 19, 2024 and January 5, 2025.

We don’t know too much about this Rayquaza we’ll get to catch yet. One of the confirmed details is that it will show up in five-star Tera Raids. The other is that it will be a Dragon Tera Type. While that raid is going on, there will also be Mass Outbreaks for Carbink, Cetoddle, and Fraxure throughout the game. This is because all of their shiny forms also feature black as a signature color. Since this is a five-star event, you will need to have beaten the main campaign in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and beaten the elite four to find the Rayquaza.

There’s also an animated trailer accompanying this news that shows a shiny Rayquaza flying across the Paldean cities and environments.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmxydjASgrI&ab_channel=TheOfficialPok%C3%A9monYouTubechannel

Leading up to that, we know the schedule for Tera Raids for November 2024, December 2024, and January 2025. Here’s what’s coming up soon:

  • November 28-December 5, 2024: Corviknight and Bellibolt will be in Tera Raids.
  • December 5-12, 2024: Azumarill and Clodsire will be in Tera Raids.
  • December 12-19, 2024: Annihilape and Kingambit will be in Tera Raids.
  • December 19, 2024-January 5, 2025: Shiny Rayquaza

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available for the Nintendo Switch.

You Can Earn Shiny Meloetta in Pokemon Home Now

The Pokemon Company International announced that it is now possible to get a shiny Meloetta in Pokemon Home following the 3.2.2 update. However, it isn’t an unconditional giveaway. It is tied to Pokedex completion.

Here’s how it works. You need to have your copy of Pokemon Home synched up with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on the Nintendo Switch. This is because you need to have the full Pokedex for the main game, which is the Paldea Pokedex, as well the ones from the Blueberry and Kitakami Pokedex ones from the two areas in the expansion . If you did that and confirmed it within Pokemon Home in “Games,” you get the Shiny Meloetta as a Mystery Gift. Once that is in your boxes, you could then move it to one of your games.

There’s also a screenshot showing the Shiny Meloetta in the Pokemon Home app. The Normal and Psychic type will be at level 50 when it arrives. The one shown in the screenshot has 170 HP, 82 attack, 162 special attack, 92 defense, 148 special defense, and 110 speed. The Modest nature boosts special attack at the cost of attack. Serene Grace also makes it more likely Meloetta’s attack effects will trigger. The character arrives knowing Echoed Voice, Psybeam, Relic Song, and Sing. So Serene Grace would affect Psybeam and Relic Song.

Here’s how the character will look:

Pokemon Home is available on the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. It is compatible with games up through the latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Switch entries.

pokemon baskin robbins

The Pokemon summer campaign will start at Baskin Robbins in Japan from August 1 and end on September 4, 2024. You’ll be able to get exclusive limited-time flavors and containers that are based on a variety of new and old Pokemon. [Thanks, PR Times!]

The limited-time flavor is Pikachu and Hogeta’s Fruit Ice, which combines seven different fruits—golden kiwi, pineapple, ion fruit, strawberry, blood orange, pink grapefruit, and mango. You can get this as a single scoop or a double. If you get a double scoop, you have the option of getting it in a cup. There are three variations, each featuring Pikachu hanging out with one of the starter Pokemon from the Paldea region.

For each double scoop cup you get, you can get a random Pokemon sticker. Other items available during the Pokemon collaboration at Baskin Robbins are a fruity ice cream float with Pikachu designs on it (the drink is apple and pineapple, and you can choose whatever ice cream flavor you want), and two types of ice cream cakes. One contains four different flavors (again, Pikachu and the Paldean starters) and the other one is just Pikachu. There will also be multiple variety pack containers and take-out bags that have Pokemon on them.

Here are some more pictures of the Pokemon collaboration at Baskin Robbins:

The campaign will start from August 1 and last until September 4, 2024. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the newest mainline games, are readily available on the Nintendo Switch.

When purchased in the online bundle, you also get a five-in-one sound chip with the cries it would make from the anime series. It also comes with a black Fuecoco shirt that features flames and Poke Balls on it. A purple Fuecoco sleeper, which also has a Poke Ball pattern and white accents, rounds out the bundle.

Here’s how all of those new Build-a-Bear items look:

This is the second Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter to show up at Build-a-Bear as a plush. The first was Sprigatito. That appeared at the store back in July 2023. This means Quaxly is the only one of those three to not appear in the collection at the retailer.

The Fuecoco Pokemon plush is now available at Build-a-Bear in the US and UK. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.

mari shimazaki bayonetta artist design pokemon scarlet violet fidough dachsbun miriam raifort

Mari Shimazaki, a character designer for Bayonetta, has revealed on her X (Twitter) that she was the artist for Fidough in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. She also designed Dachsbun, Miriam, and Raifort.

https://twitter.com/marishimazaki/status/1806662918186188869?s=61

The Tweet acknowledges that she’s very late with this reveal, as the games have been out for quite some time now. But she just cleared it yesterday thanks to all the detours she took. As well, she said it was a lot of fun filling in the map, and it was a very “healing” experience. The picture she drew shows Raifort and Miriam surrounded by multiple Fidoughs while a Dachsbun is at their feet. Aside from working as an artist for Bayonetta and her designs in Pokemon, Shimazaki also designed outfits for Soul Calibur V and characters in Okami.

Fidough and Dachsbun are the Scarlet and Violet games’ versions of the cute canine Pokemon that appear rather early in the game. Other Pokemon from previous generations that fill this niche include Yamper, Rockruff, and Lillipup. Due to Fidough’s cute design, it’s appeared in multiple marketing campaigns and goods in the past. As for Raifort and Miriam, they're teachers at the academy the protagonist attends.

Since Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out, multiple designers revealed their involvement with the game on their personal X (Twitter) s. For example, Yusuke Kozaki (who’d worked on character designers for Fire Emblem: Fates and No More Heroes), was the one who designed Cetoddle and Varoom. James Turner, who is a Game Freak artist, designed Tatsugiri and Dondozo.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are readily available on the Nintendo Switch.
