Bluepoint Games Sony

Sony Interactive Entertainment officially acquired Bluepoint Games, a studio known for its many remakes and remasters of classic PlayStation titles. In June 2021, the acquisition leaked from Sony itself after an image posted to Twitter showed Bluepoint as a new PlayStation Studios addition, instead of the officially announced acquisition of Housemarque. The studio, comprised of about 70 employees, was acquired for an undisclosed amount.

Acquiring Bluepoint Games follows Sony's recent trend of acquiring studios that have worked heavily on PlayStation games in the past, as the studio has created games for its platforms for over 15 years. Known for the PlayStation 5 remake of Demon's Souls, Bluepoint's other notable releases include 2018's remake of Shadow of the Colossus and the PlayStation 4 remaster of Gravity Rush released in 2016 in North America.

Blast Factor, released for the PlayStation 3 in 2006, is the only game developed by Bluepoint Games that is not a remaster or port. It was also the first game released for the console to run at 1080p 60 FPS, and one of the console's first digital-only games.

Marco Thrush, the President of Bluepoint Games, recently expressed that the studio is aiming to work on original content going forward.

Bluepoint recent release Demon's Souls has sold over 1.4 million copies to date.
