The second Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie trailer is here, and it starts with a Chao Garden Easter egg. The over two minute long video then goes on to showcase returning characters like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, who appeared in the first and second films, as well as newcomer Shadow.

Instead of a traditional Chao Garden, the one appearing in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie trailer is a Chuck E. Cheese style restaurant and experience with the Chao appearing as people in giant costumes. Of the first three Chao mascots we see, there’s a standard Neutral one between what look like Fly and Power types. 

After that, the main plot points come through. We see Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles captured by Dr. Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik and about to be destroyed by Shadow. It’s then that they use a ring to reach Tom and Maddie Wachowski again.

Now that the release date is drawing near, we’re learning lots more about the film. For example, we know the Japanese cast for the movie now. The biggest reveal there is that Shadow the Hedgehog is played by Toshiyuki Morikawa.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie will feature Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow. The film is set to release in cinemas on December 20, 2024, and the director teased Shadow's appearance back in November 2023.

The leak originated from The John Campea Show, a movie-focused podcast and YouTube channel. In a video on the channel, Campea describes how he was told of the casting by someone "very connected" at the afterparty for a showing of The Fall Guy at Cinemacon 2024 in Las Vegas.

Reeves is well known for his role in the Wachowski Sister's The Matrix trilogy (1999 - 2021), as well as in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), and more recently the John Wick series (2014 - 2023).

Jim Carrey is also set to star in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, returning to his role as series antagonist Dr Robotnik. A spin-off show featuring Idris Elba's Knuckles is also set to debut on Paramount+ on April 26, 2024.

Paramount revealed a new trailer for the live-action Knuckles Sonic the Hedgehog series, which will feature Idris Elba as the the titular echidna. The series will consist of six episodes and is set to debut on Paramount Plus on April 26, 2024 for the U.S. and Canada, and a day later for other territories including Japan..

The trailer features Knuckles (Elba) and Wade (Adam Pally), a human who he has decided to train as a warrior. The live-action story will take place chronologically after the second film, but before the events of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. It will feature an ex-employee of Robotnik sending goons after Knuckles, aided by advanced gadgets. There are, of course, multiple references in the trailer. Some of them include the hat worn by knuckles in the 1996 Sonic the Hedgehog OVA series and a callback to the first movie trailer Knuckles appeared in.

Jim Carrey was recently confirmed to reprise his role as Dr.Robotnik in the third Sonic the Hedgehog live action movie. Meanwhile, a remastered version of Sonic Generations was announced at the Sony State of Play event back in January, 2024, including extracontent featuring Shadow the Hedgehog.

The return of Jim Carrey for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was first teased on the official Sonic movie X/Twitter . A short video featuring the movie’s logo was shown featuring Robotnik’s distinctive laugh. The return of Robotnik was then confirmed by Variety. A teaser for Robotnik’s return also featured during a post-credits scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be the third in the hugely successful movie series from Paramount. The first two movies have made a combined $870 million at the global box office. It’s one of the highest-grossing movies based on a video game ever released, alongside The Super Mario Bros Movie and Detective Pikachu. A TV series based on Knuckles is also in development.

The story for the next movie is currently unknown, aside from us knowing Jim Carrey will return as the antagonist Dr Robotnik. However, it is confirmed that Shadow the Hedgehog will be making an appearance in the new movie. This was first teased in a post-credits sequence in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and has since been confirmed with teases on social media. The newly revealed logo also resembles the logo for Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow’s debut game.

It’s not the only appearance of Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic x Shadow Generations is an game announced at the January 2024 State of Play showcase. This reworking of Sonic Generations will feature a playable Shadow alongside the Classic and Modern versions of Sonic. It’s set for release in fall 2024.

The Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie included a mid-credits scene offering a first look at Shadow the Hedgehog, and teasing his involvement in the events of the sequel. While the image shared deliberately obscures Shadow’s face, it offers a look at his iconic hover shoes and gloves.

Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The video showcased an inexperienced variation of the crime-fighting turtles. Scenes show them goofing around and explaining their origins to their iconic human ally, April O’Neil.

Seth Rogen is in charge of this TMNT: Mutant Mayhem reboot, which will show the experiences of the turtles finally entering the world and starting to fight crime. This first look mainly shows the youthful nature of the group. The brothers record stunts and get hurt while trying to use their weapons. Also, the bad guys in New York City don’t seem to recognize them yet. The art style also stands out, as it resembles a comic book interpretation with a mixture of 3D and 2D CGI elements.

Paramount also confirmed many of the voice actors for the TMNT: Mutant Mayhem main cast. It includes:

Lately, there have been many new appearances of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in multimedia. 2022 saw the release of two games. One was TMNT The Cowabunga Collection, a compilation of older titles. The other was the original Shredder's Revenge.

Hot off the heels of Sonic 2's release, Paramount has revealed more details about the  Sonic 3 sequel. The company revealed that the release date for the Sonic 3 movie will be December 20, 2024. This means that fans will have to wait over two years for the next movie to appear in theatres.

Paramount took to Twitter to announce the next movie's release date, just four months after the debut of Sonic 2 in April 2022. The latest film is also set to release this month in Japan, on August 19, 2022. Since then, the film has become the highest-grossing video game film adaptation in the US, making a total of $162.74 million. This beat out other popular video game film adaptations such as Uncharted as well as the first Sonic movie.

The announcement places the release of Sonic 3 over two years into the future, during the 2024 holiday season. While this may seem odd at first glance, it is essentially the same time frame that Sonic 2's release followed. For reference, Sonic 2 was announced in July 2020 and released in April 2022.

This follows an earlier announcement from Paramount in which the company revealed it had green-lit a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog show. The show will reportedly air on Paramount+, the company's streaming service. It's unclear whether the show and third theatrical release will have any ties.

The Sonic 3 movie is in active development, with a December 20, 2022 release date. Sonic 2 is available to watch digitally via Paramount+, as well as on Blu-Ray and DVD.

The Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie will have a Japanese dub when it appears in Japan as Sonic the Movie / Sonic VS Knuckles. Paramount Pictures has published a new trailer with Japanese voiceovers on its Japanese YouTube channel. It also announced the list of Japanese voice actors for the main characters in the film.

Paramount Pictures had previously confirmed that Taishi Nakagawa and Koichi Yamadera will return to voice Sonic and Dr. Ivo Robotnik, respectively. The Japanese voice actors for Tom and Maddie Wachowski will also reprise their roles. Tails will have a familiar voice from Ryo Hirohashi, the voice actress who has been voicing the character since the 2003 anime Sonic X.

Knuckles the Echidna, who did not appear in the first movie, will have a different voice in this movie. Nobutoshi Canna would usually provide voices for the character in most Japanese Sonic games and anime shows. However, the new film will instead have Subaru Kimura voicing the echidna.

Hollywood is taking yet another stroll down memory lane with Paramount Pictures’s announcement of a live-action Beyblade movie. Jerry Bruckheimer will work as the producer, while Neil Widener and Gavin James will work on its script. Aside from the key of the staff, there are very little details on the project. Beyblade first appeared as a line of spinning top toys in 1999. Aside from the toys, Beyblade also received manga and anime adaptations. The first anime focused on a team of Beyblade players who aimed to become world champions. There are multiple spin-offs and sequels from the original, with Beyblade Burst QuadDrive being the most recent. It is unknown if the Beyblade movie will follow one of the existing shows or if it will have an original story.

Other retro anime series with a live-action adaptation on the way include One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho. One Piece has already started filming, whereas Yu Yu Hakusho has a release window of December 2023. Both will air on Netflix. Speaking of Netflix, the Cowboy Bebop live-action series is available on the streaming service as well. However, it will not receive a second season.

The Beyblade live-action movie is in production, and more news on it will appear in the future.

Paramount Pictures confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie will come to Japan as well. However, it also revealed that the movie will have a different title in Japan: Sonic the Movie / Sonic VS Knuckles. The rival echidna will get more attention in the movie's Japanese release.

The English Sonic the Hedgehog 2 logo only featured the eponymous hero and Miles "Tails" Prower. However, the Japanese logo will also feature Knuckles the Echidna. The clenched fist of Sonic's rival will add an accent to the 'Ku' katakana letter in Knuckles' red name. While Miles' tails decorate the "2" in the English logo, they will also appear in the Japanese version to stylize the "S" in VS.

Paramount Pictures also published a trailer for the movie on its Japanese YouTube channel. This trailer is basically the same as the original English trailer premiered at The Game Awards 2021. People in Japan still hear Idris Elba voicing Knuckles and Colleen O'Shaughnessey voicing Tails in English. The differences in this trailer are the Japanese subtitles, the logo, and the Japanese release window in Summer 2022.

When the movie launches in Japan, it will also come with Japanese dubbing. The actor Taishi Nakagawa will reprise his role as Sonic from the first movie, while Koichi Yamadera will continue to dub Jim Carrey's Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be available in theaters in the West on April 8, 2022. The movie will appear in Japan as Sonic the Movie / Sonic VS Knuckles later in Summer 2022.

There's quite a bit of teasing when it comes to the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, especially now that the first poster is out. The official Twitter showed it off. It also confirmed that the first trailer for the movie is inbound. Sometime during The Game Awards on December 9, 2021, people will be able to catch the Sonic 2 movie trailer.

First, here's the first Sonic 2 movie poster. It references the Sky Chase Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Tails is flying what looks like the iconic Tornado plane from the series. Sonic is balanced on its wings. Dr. Robotnik is in his own vehicle flying behind them.

As for the first Sonic 2 movie trailer, we know exactly when it will air. It will show up during The Game Awards at 5pm PT/8pm ET on December 9, 2021.

This is the second bit of recent news regarding the film. In December 2021, Colleen O’Shaughnessey confirmed she would return to play Tails in the movie. She's been the voice of him for years. She'll Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Jim Carrey (Dr. Robotnik), and Idris (Knuckles).

Veteran voice actor Colleen O'Shaughnessey will reprise the role of Tails in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. O'Shaughnessey announced the news via her official Twitter. The movie will release on April 8, 2022.

O'Shaughnessey has voiced Miles "Tails" Prower since Sonic Boom in 2014. Since then, she has voiced the character in other Sonic media including Sonic Forces and Team Sonic Racing. Additionally, she also occasionally voices the character Charmy Bee.

Additionally, she voiced Tails in a brief appearance at the end of the original Sonic movie. The announcement confirms that she will be returning to the role for the Sonic movie sequel. As its logo suggests, Tails will likely play a major role in the movie's story. O'Shaughnessey will Idris Elba as Knuckles and Ben Schwartz, who will return as the voice of Sonic.

Notably, the prominent voice actor has played characters in various other popular media as well. O'Shaughnessey voiced Sora Takenouchi from the English dub of the original Digimon anime. She also voiced characters in video games, such as Genis Sage in Tales of Symphonia and Akane in Persona 5 Strikers.

Thanks to various teases and leaks, as well as a clip at the end of the original Sonic movie, we knew Knuckles the Echidna would be in it. Now, we know who will play him. Idris Elba shared images on social media confirming he will play Knuckles in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie.

This sort of casting decision isn't uncommon. A number of famous actors were brought in for both the original Sonic movie and sequel. For example, James Marsden plays an original character, Jim Carrey is Doctor Eggman, and Ben Schwartz is Sonic the Hedgehog. While Tails will be in this sequel, it is unknown who will voice the fox.

The Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie will appear in theaters on April 8, 2022. The first movie is available digitally and physically. A keychain of the first movie's Baby Sonic appears as a pre-order bonus for physical copies of the Sonic Colors Ultimate.

There is quite a bit of Sonic the Hedgehog movie news to digest. The official Twitter shared a brief teaser video with a lot of hints of things to come. Namely, that it is Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and will use a “Sonic Movie 2” hashtag for simplicity’s sake. Oh, also, Tails is prominently featured throughout the clip.

Tails’ appearance is referenced in multiple ways. When the animation for the trailer comes up, we see him spin-dash past as an orange blur. When the “2” appears in the new Sonic movie logo, it is orange. It then ends up having Tails’ signature twin tails at the end. When the release date comes up, the year is in orange. (The rest of the logo is “Sonic” blue.)

In a way, this is especially appropriate. Tails the Fox first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Genesis in 1992. While the release date isn’t falling on what was that game’s exact launch date, it will appear exactly 30 years after its debut.
