Square Enix will be making it easier to pick up both Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 physical game copies on the Switch, as a new cartridge option includes both of the JRPGs. The three stores with retail listings online are PNP Games, Play-Asia, and Video Games Plus, though PNP and VGP are both sold out as of 12:30pm ET on March 31, 2025. 

Right now, the prices seem to vary. PNP was selling the bundle for $55.99. The VGP price was $79.99 CAD, which came out to $55.90. There’s no price on the Play-Asia listing yet, though sometimes it can end up being a bit more for certain titles. Both PNP and VGP note they should ship all orders on April 4, 2025, but note that is the expected date. For those who missed pre-orders, it might be worth returning on or around that date to see if additional stock appeared. 

The notable point about this release is that the early reports seem to suggest there are no additional s. So if someone picks up the Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 physical Switch bundle, each of the JRPGs will be on a single cartridge together. Prior to this, both games were available separately both digitally and physically for the system.

The individual release of Octopath Traveler is available now on PS4 and PS5 for $59.99, or $39.59 for PlayStation Plus owners, as a limited time offer that ends on June 20, 2024. Similarly, Octopath Traveler 2 is now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X, also costing $59.99, and free for Xbox Game s. Meanwhile, the bundle with both games costs $74.99 and can be found for the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

In addition to both games stealth dropping on all current and last gen consoles, a new update for Octopath Traveler 2 is out now on all platforms. The update adds a new Extra Battles mode to the title screen, available only after clearing the main story of the game.

The first Octopath Traveler title originally appeared in July 13, 2018 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and would later be ported to PC on June 2019 and Xbox One on March 2021. Meanwhile, Octopath Traveler 2 originally released for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC on February 24, 2023.

The Japanese official X for Square Enix e-Store shared sharing map themed FFXIV, Octopath Traveler 2, and Triangle Strategy merchandise to coincide with Map Day, which falls on April 19th every year in Japan. None of the items are brand-new, since they have been released for quite a while. However, all of the items listed are still available for purchase on the Japanese Square Enix e-Store.

The first featured item is a 9 cm (~3.54 in) thick and 25 cm (~9.84 in) wide book storage box with the world map of FFXIV as its cover. Square Enix released this item on August 31, 2021, at 3,850 yen (~$24.90).

The second entry on the list is a 40 cm (~15.75 in) long and 23 cm (~9.05 in) wide face towel featuring the map of Solistia from Octopath Traveler 2. This item has been available since February 24, 2023, with a price tag of 1,800 yen (~$11.65).

The third and last item is a ticket case decorated with the Triangle Strategy world map, which has been available since March 4, 2022, at 3,100 yen (~$20). The case is 22 cm (~8.66 in) tall and can go up to 23 cm (~9.05 in) wide when unfolded.

Square Enix released the first standalone arrangement album for Octopath Traveler 2, and it features 16-bit renditions for some of the game's tracks. The Octopath Traveler II 16-Bit Arrangements album is now available in Japan with a tax-inclusive price tag of ¥2,750 (~$18).

This album features 16-bit versions of eight tracks from Octopath Traveler 2, and it will let the listener imagine how the game would sound like if it appeared in the SNES era. The game's composer Yasunori Isshiki also personally supervised the arrangements.

The Octopath Traveler II 16-Bit Arrangements album is now available for purchase in Japan. The original video game is readily available worldwide on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Square Enix has also announced plans to release the game on Xbox One and Xbox Series X in 2024.

The characters in Octopath Traveler 2 will venture to new platforms in 2024, with Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions confirmed. Square Enix made the announcement at TGS 2023. In addition, the already available PC version will also show up on the Microsoft Store at that time. This means it will be available on all major platforms next year.

As a reminder, Octopath Traveler 2 appeared on the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC in February 2023. It features eight playable characters with their own storylines. New to this installment are some storylines that involve two party working together through an adventure once you’ve recruited them both. All characters have jobs tied to them, and you can mix and match to set up an ideal party for your needs. There are also some additional jobs you can happen upon as you travel through the world.

To go along with the new reveal, Square Enix shared another trailer for the RPG. It shows both story segments and its turn-based battle system. 

Octopath Traveler 2 Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions will appear sometime in 2024. That’s also when the PC version will be on the Microsoft Store. The Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam versions are all already available.

Octopath Traveler 2 sales ed over a million units, according to Square Enix. The news was announced on the official Twitter . The tweet featured a commemorative illustration by artist Tatsuaki Urushihara featuring the characters Throne, Ochette, and Osvald.

The million sales figure takes into both physical and digital sales across all platforms worldwide. The Octopath Traveler 2 sales a little slower than the first game's, which reached the million sales mark after about a month. Octopath Traveler 2 sold the same amount in just over three months. By contrast, the mobile spin-off Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent reached 3 million s within two days upon its initial release in Japan. However, Square Enix appeared to be pleased with Octopath Traveler 2's sales figures based on the tweet.

Octopath Traveler 2 released in February 2023. It released to rave reviews, with most reviewers praising it as an improvement over its predecessor. It is the direct sequel to 2018’s Octopath Traveler, the first of many games in Square Enix’s HD-2D style. Since the release of Octopath Traveler, other games to use the style have included Triangle Strategy and the remake of Live a Live. An remake of Dragon Quest III will also be using the visual style.

If you’re playing Octopath Traveler 2, you may see an obnoxious empty gap on your world map. You know what I’m talking about. There’s that landmass below New Delsta, and it seems impossible to reach. Well, the bad news is, you can’t get there right away like you can many places in the game. The good news is, all you need to do in order to unlock that part of the map and its town of Lostseed is go through Throne’s story in Octopath Traveler 2.

Throne’s story begins in the Brightlands Underground Waterway you can reach from New Delsta. There’s a locked door at the end of the path. It won’t unlock until you get keys from both Father and Mother in chapter three of her tale. Once you do, you can head to New Delsta to take part in chapter four. (This is a level 45-recommended quest.) After seeing the tombstone in the backstreets area that says “I await where it all began,” Throne heads to the entrance to the Underground Waterway and goes to that locked door at the end.

Opening it and walking through takes you to the danger level 45 Deserted Highroad. You can journey through this space, with a brief gondola ride, to get to the town of Lostseed in Octopath Traveler 2. Going through the town can also take you to the level 45 Lostseed Castle dungeon.

Simply reaching both places for the first time is enough to fill in those empty gaps in the Octopath Traveler 2 world map.

Many side stories in Octopath Traveler 2 seem like they’d be straightforward, but “Sword Hunter in the Decaying Temple” isn’t one of them! It sounds simple enough. The beaten Young Warrior in Sai will mention how the family sword was stolen by a thief. He’ll flat out say that the person is at the Eastern Sai Sands Decaying Temple. But going there might turn up nothing. There’s a quick trick, and it means a solo run.

What you need to do after talking to the Young Warrior in Sai is then head to the Tavern. Remove everyone from your party except for the person you chose as your main character. (If you’ve never done this before, you need to hover over the allies in your party and press Y or square, depending on your platform.) In order to get the thief to target you and show themselves, you need to head into the Decaying Temple alone.

Unfortunately, this is a daunting task! The Southern Sai Sands and Eastern Sai Sands areas both only have a danger level of 16. So getting to the Decaying Temple isn’t too bad.

However, the Decaying Temple is a level 40 area, and this optional boss is hard. Head all the way south into the back of it to meet the Sword Hunter Karma. I went into the battle with a Throne initially who was exactly at level 40 until I return with her at level 50 and with armsmaster as her secondary job.

This character will start the fight in a stance with seven shield points. Of his six weaknesses at the start, four are axe, dagger, polearm, and staff, and the dagger will remain a weakness for other stances. However, one of Karma’s stances has one shield point and no weaknesses, so keep an eye out to break an enemy who has no weakness. He also swaps into the Unbreakable Stances when he’s near death that has 15 shield points. It is weak against everything.

However, the thing to worry about during the Sword Hunter fight’s Unbreakable Stance is if you see the message “Karma’s hostility grows.” This means the boss is preparing to use Killer Karma. This will deal 9,999 damage and cause a game over, so break him immediately. Winning gets you the Young Warrior’s Keepsake Sword.

If you survive the fight, you can teleport back to Sai to finish “Sword Hunter in the Decaying Temple” in Octopath Traveler 2. For all that trouble, you’ll only get 12,000 Leaves and a Refreshing Jam. Also, if you want the Keepsake Sword for yourself as an actual usable weapon and not a key item, you can steal it from the Young Warrior by either Steal with Throne during the day or Mug with Osvald at night.

With the “Stage Actors” Octopath Traveler 2 side story, it might seem like a situation in which you bring NPCs to the Stage Director. After all, the Tropu’hopu NPC mentions people who cab show ion in battle. But really, you just need to fight this character.

Head north of the main Tropu’hopu space to get to the Floating Theater area. The Stage Director is to the right of the stage itself. This is a genuinely strong opponent, with 7/10 marks, so try to be at least at level 40.

Now, when I fought the Stage Director, I used Ochette. So I can’t speak to all the weaknesses, as Provoke limits you to monster usage. However, this opponent is susceptible to sword, dagger, and wind attacks.

Once you finish the encounter, it gets really fun! Because of your challenge, there are different ways the story can go. I recommend saving before you finish this quest. The character who completed it becomes the star of their own “play.” With my Ochette one, she ended up being a “maiden of mystery” trying to find her parents that happened upon a new threat to her well being. Akala even factored into the performance.

Once the show is done, you get 4,500 leaves and a Physical Belt for finishing “Stage Actors” in Octopath Traveler 2.

So “A Devilishly Delicious Dish” is a side story you can pick up early in Octopath Traveler 2, but you probably won’t be strong enough to finish it until later in the game. At the tavern in New Delsta, a Tavern Cook will ask you for a Delsta Devil. However, actually solving this means heading to a level 34 dungeon and defeating a boss.

After you get the quest, head to Western Clockbank Highroad. You’ll need to head to one of the docks and sail under the bridge to the south. Going down this river will lead you to the level 34 Sunken Maw region.

Once you get to the dock here, head south until you reach another dock. Use the small boat to sail east. After grabbing the Shield of Serenity from the chest, go north of that small island. Save at the save point. Climb the ladder, then visit the Elderly Fishing Enthusiast in his cabin to the north. (The chest near here has 13,500 leaves in it.) You’ll need to have someone Buy, Entreat, Mug, or Steal his Special Bait off of him. (My Throne was around level 40 at this point and pulled it off with a 100% chance.)

After you get the bait, get in the boat at the dock near the save point and head east. A prompt will come up at the right spot asking if you want to use the bait you acquired. Say yes to trigger the “A Devilishly Delicious Dish” Delsta Devil boss fight in Octopath Traveler 2. This is a foe with only 5,700 HP. It can hit a bit hard, but it is weak against bows, daggers, lightning magic, and spears. Also, you can’t capture it and must defeat it to complete the quest. You’ll get a Strengthening Serum for winning the fight, then you’ll get a “captured” Delsta Devil.

Head back to New Delsta’s tavern and speak to the Tavern Cook. Once you give him the captured Delsta Devil, you’ll be all set. You’ll get 5,000 leaves, a Master Rod, and a Chef’s Ladle.

You might overlook the “Goading the Grapes” Octopath Traveler 2 side story. If you walk down the steps just outside the town entrance at Western Conning Creek Coast, you’ll happen upon a Grape Farmer who needs help. The vines aren’t growing properly. Fortunately, a nearby NPC mentions a grape expert in Cropdale, so solving this side quest is as simple as ing along the tips.

The Grape Expert is always at the Cropdale tavern bar, regardless of the time of day. This means you could have Castti or Osvald get the information during the day or bring Hikari or Temenos along at night to learn what you need. You’ll get the Tricks to Growing Grapes information via whichever method you choose. (I went with Osvald’s Scrutinize.)

After delivering the Tricks to Growing Grapes to the Grape Farmer, Octopath Traveler 2’s “Goading the Grapes” will end. You’ll get 10,000 leaves and a Nourishing Nut (M) as a reward for bringing the good news.

“The Fish Filcher” is a weird Octopath Traveler 2 side story, because the solution is so unexpected. Fish are being stolen at Conning Creek. You’re supposed to help. But, it’s not like any NPC in town has fish in their inventory. To complete this quest, you need to think outside of the box.

To start “The Fish Filcher,” talk to the Head Fisherman at Conning Creek: Harbor during the day. Then, change to night and wait. I actually stumbled upon this accidentally. I swapped the time to see if anyone was there, headed to the main part of town to do some stealing and information gathering with Osvald and Throne, then headed back to the harbor. When I did, I saw a Fish Thief standing there.

Knocking out the fish thief with Throne’s Ambush or Castti’s Soothe will complete the quest. A scene will then play out once you’ve done that. You’ll then get 6,000 leaves and a Fortifying Nut (M) for completing “The Fish Filcher” in Octopath Traveler 2. If you want, you can also then steal from the new NPC standing there to get an Enlightening Earring and Fool's Leaf.

Okay, I’ll it that there’s a reason Castti the apothecary is the last Octopath Traveler 2 character I wrote about. It’s because she’s one of my second string team . She’s not a bad ally by any means. It’s just there are a number of other characters I preferred to use for or healing. But still, she can be very useful, and here’s what you need to know about her.

How Do You Recruit Castti in Octopath Traveler 2 1a3v2z

If you didn’t start with Castti in Octopath Traveler 2, you’ll find her in Canalbrine.

How Does Castti Work in Octopath Traveler 2 55560

Castti is essentially a healer and er. However, unlike Temenos the cleric, a lot of her non-Concoct job skills hit a single target instead of everyone. It has its uses, to be sure. She’s also the only person with regen and immunity effects, which can prove very useful in specific battles. But she’s essentially a different sort of healer.

Here is the full list of apothecary skills Castti can learn in Octopath Traveler 2.

• Healing Touch: 6SP to heal or revive one ally.
• Icicle: 7SP to deal ice magic damage to an enemy.
• Rehabilitate: 10SP to temporarily make an ally immune to status effects.
• Sweeping Cleave: 9SP to deal axe damage to every enemy.
• Poison Axe: 12SP to deal axe damage to one enemy and poison them temporarily.
• Replenish Health: 9SP to add a regen effect to one ally that heals some health after every turn temporarily.
• Weak to Poison: 4SP to temporarily make a foe susceptible to poison.
• Dohter's Charity: 30SP to give an ally’s single-target items an AOE effect for three turns.

She also gets some really good Skills that are a big help for her. Vigorous Victor is pretty handy, as after learning four job skills you get this one that restores 30% of her HP and SP after each battle. It’s a good way to keep her SP up, since health might not be as much of a concern. I also liked Inspiriting Break a lot. That one you get after learning six skills It means you get SP every time you break an enemy. Preventative Measures is good for general exploring too. You don’t earn it until she learns seven skills, but it protects her from debuffs for the first three turns of every battle.

Also, her Latent Power limit break is quite handy in a pinch. Every Drop Counts lets her Concoct without items once. I liked to save it for stronger than usual enemy encounters or boss fights.

What About Castti Octopath Traveler 2 Path Actions? 292547

Like a few Octopath Traveler 2 characters, sometimes it feels like Castti has one “optimal” path action and one that’s only helpful if you’re using her.

The optimal one is the nighttime Path Action Soothe. This is one of the means of knocking out an NPC. Hers relies on other items she might have on hand to knock them out. Which means if you’ve been stealing a lot with Throne, you probably own what you need to get things done. It’s very handy, given others’ actions like Throne’s Ambush is level-based and Ochette’s Provoke means beating an NPC in battle.

Her option that isn’t as great is her daytime ability, which is Inquire. That lets you get information about people, but only if Castti’s level is high enough. It’s better to go with Hikari’s Bribe or Osvald’s Scrutinize instead.

Which Secondary Jobs are Good for Castti in Octopath Traveler 2 3cq70

Honestly, the only thing I noticed that worked incredibly well for Castti is the merchant job in Octopath Traveler 2, as it really complements the apothecary role well. She shouldn’t really be attacking, but if she does, it adds the bow and spear to her default axe. This pairing means she can really take advantage of additional skills.

For example, she could use the 0SP Rest to spend a turn healing her health, SP, and status. You also can give allies BP with Donate BP for 6SP or get more cash via the 2SP Collect. Most importantly, if you decide you ever do want her to deal damage, you can use the 0SP Hired Help to pay for an NPC to come perform an action or learn the Bifelgan's Bounty Divine skill to deal damage and get money from a foe.

Agnea is great dancer in Octopath Traveler 2 for two reasons. One is that her story is refreshing, compared to darker and heavier tales like Osvald’s and Throne’s. There’s still corruption and you’ll meet villains, but she’s a very positive and lighthearted figure. The other is that it’s very clear going in what kind of role she’ll play in a party. This can help a lot and make it easier when deciding who to bring along on adventures.

Agnea is around to make your party stronger and your enemies weaker. Can you have her attack? Sure. I mean, at that point, give her a mage-type secondary job like cleric or scholar. But you really want to take advantage of her ability to make others better or worse, especially since her All Together Now Latent Power “limit break” can make single target skills, with limitations, affect all allies or enemies instead of just one.

Here is the full list of dancer skills Agnea can learn in Octopath Traveler 2. Keep in mind All Together Now will spread ones that aren’t designed to only hit her or are divine skills like Sealticge’s Seduction.

• Lion Dance: 4SP to increase an ally’s attack temporarily.
• Ruinous Kick: 10SP to attack an enemy and lower their shield points by 1 regardless of weaknesses.
• Peacock Strut: 4SP to increase an ally’s magic attack temporarily.
• Sweeping Gale: 7SP to deal wind damage to an enemy.
• Stimulate: 5SP to move up an ally’s next action in the turn order.
• Dagger Dance: 9SP to deal dagger damage to every enemy.
• Bewildering Grace: 25SP to inflict a status effect.
• Sealticge's Seduction: 30SP to basically give one ally the All Together Now ability for three turns.

Try to ensure you learn Peacock Strut, Stimulate, and Bewildering Grace as soon as possible!

As for skills, all of the ones for a dancer help make buffs last longer or increase her Latent Power gauge. Which is good, because you want both things. So definitely get The Show Goes On by learning four job skills to extend the duration of effects and Invigorate and Inspire to fill the Latent Power gauge by learning seven.

Also, always make sure Agnea has an NPC with her! Her talent is Dance Session. This means the NPC she recruited will offer an additional buff with her dance skills. That NPC buff will be given to an ally wit skills like Peacock Strut or to Agnea herself with one like Dagger Dance.

What About Agnea Octopath Traveler 2 Path Actions? 3u2l4i

Agnea has two. Both are pretty good, but I found one more useful than others. The Octopath Traveler 2 dancer can Allure or Entreat.

During the day, you have a percentage-based chance of getting an NPC to follow Agnea with Allure. This is the “good” one! Sometimes, telling Partitio to Hire someone can be expensive, you won’t have the food to make Ochette Befriend them, or Temenos could be at too low of a level to Guide. So a percentage-based one can get someone way too strong or expensive to .

Now, Entreat isn’t a “bad” item acquisition skill! It’s a guaranteed way to get items for free from NPC inventories. However, it is a level-based one. So if you don’t focus on Agnea enough, she won’t be as useful as Throne or Partitio for taking things.

Which Secondary Jobs are Good for Agnea in Octopath Traveler 2 22p3k

Agnea is basically here to help. This means ideally putting her in a position where she can do even more good. Since she already access to a dagger, I’d avoid the thief role. So instead, pair up Agnea and her dancer skills and abilities with the hunter, cleric, or scholar. (Though if you do have access to the secret arcanist job, that’s good for her too.)

The hunter works for Agnea very well. It gives her access to the axe and bow, just in case. It also means more buffs and debuffs. Take Aim and Leghold Trap especially are a big help, especially if she uses All Together Now to make them hit every enemy.

I’d almost suggest the cleric over the scholar, just because it goes with her whole “helping” nature. Her having access to a heal ability, as well as the ability to apply Prayer to the Flame or Sacred Shield to every ally instead of just one is fantastic.

But since she is good with magic, giving her a scholar role to let her occasionally deal damage isn’t a bad idea either.

“Lingering Love” is a pretty unique Octopath Traveler 2 side story in that you can complete it without really going through any effort or seeing the initial part of the story. That is, if you are the sort of person who will Steal from and Scrutinize any NPC before you actually talk to them, it can be over before it even begins.

In Stormhail, there is a Dismal Woman. If you check her inventory, you’ll see a Treasured Necklace. Now, you can talk to her first. However, since I’m a terrible person, I steal from any side story-giving NPCs before starting the quests. Doing so to get the Treasured Necklace immediately “solves” her problem.

After you’ve stolen or bought the Dismal Woman’s Treasured Necklace, you’re done. You won’t even need to trigger another conversation. She’ll immediately start talking to you and come to a conclusion after your actions.

As a thanks for your efforts(?) there, you’ll get an Alluring Ribbon and 14,000 leaves. The “Lingering Love” Octopath Traveler 2 side story will then end. She’ll also be known as the Rejuvenated Woman from here on out.
