When it comes to picking a Nintendo Switch to buy today, it can be a bit confusing and overwhelming with all the different models. There’s the OLED, original Switch, updated Switch model, and Lite. And those aren’t even including the different color variations and bundles. But to simplify for you, here is the best Nintendo Switch model you should buy.

Mario Red Nintendo OLED Switch Model Announced Release Date

Best Overall Nintendo Switch Model: OLED 1r3ri

The overall best Nintendo Switch model is the OLED version. This is essentially the standard for the Nintendo Switch these days. It has a slightly larger screen, with the most up-to-date performance, and above all else, that gorgeous OLED screen. It is no secret that the Switch is behind its console competitors in of visuals.

However, there is a significant difference when using the OLED model. Even games with lower resolutions and less detailed graphics look impressively better with this screen. Though most of these differences are only noticeable in handheld mode, this is the way to go for new Switch owners these days until its successor releases.

Honorable Mention: Switch Lite 5s1l34

While the OLED model is the best overall Switch version, it is a bit pricey. If you don’t happen to have the cash to shell out for that one, the honorable mention and runner-up in my opinion is the Switch Lite. This device is handheld-only, but if you like playing in portable mode most of the time, this is the one for you.

The Switch Lite has excellent form factor, being adorably smaller than the other versions. It is compact, comes in some cute colors I wish the regular Switch had, and can still play almost every game in the library. While you sacrifice TV mode and removable Joy-Cons, the Switch Lite is a highly recommended budget console version these days.

Nintendo lawsuit Team Xecuter Gary Bowser 2021

Nintendo filed a new lawsuit against one of Team Xecuter's leaders Gary Bowser. Team Xecuter is an international pirate organization and criminal enterprise that sells piracy tools for profit. The 41-page document details the history of Bowser's offenses against Nintendo dating as far back as the Nintendo DS era. Nintendo is seeking equitable relief and damages. [Thank you, Polygon.]

Nintendo claims Team Xecuter's SX OS is the most installed piracy software on the Nintendo Switch. The company further claims SX OS was pre-installed on 89% of hacked Nintendo Switch hardware for illegal sale at one point.

The civil action lawsuit details who Team Xecuter and Gary Bowser are, what they do, and what the piracy software they sell does. The document provides extensive evidence and history of criminal operations by the individual. In the lawsuit, Nintendo describes Bowser as "one of only a handful of key of Team Xecuter, running the day-to-day operations of the hacking group." The document elaborates on the scale of the for-profit operation by detailing distribution channels, resellers, distribution, manufacturing centers abroad, marketing, and advertising.

To further the company's lawsuit, Nintendo also claims Bowser has been a leader in targeting Nintendo for years. In addition to its current for-profit Nintendo Switch hacks, the company asserts that Bowser targeted Nintendo during the Nintendo DS, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS eras. Furthermore, Nintendo states the individual has a history with law enforcement regarding hacking. Bowser was charged in Canada in 2008 for his operation involving pirated Nintendo software and modified hardware.

Nintendo has been continuing its efforts in cracking down on piracy. We reported on recent Nintendo lawsuits in May and October 2020 against Team Xecuter and other individuals.

Team Xecuter Arrested

The United States Department of Justice published news that two of Team Xecuter were arrested. Team Xecuter is a notorious video game piracy group that has been around since 2001. Recently, the team has been selling physical hardware to mod Nintendo Switch consoles. Each person faces 11 felony charges, including wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Though two key of Team Xecuter have been taken into custody, a total of three people have been indicted. The three are accused of leading a criminal enterprise that developed and sold physical mods to hack consoles and play video games illegally. The report suggests the overwhelming demand for Team Xecuter's products was to play pirated video games.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian C. Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division spoke critically of the group, "[They] reaped illegal profits for years." U.S. Attorney Brian Moran for the Western District of Washington elaborated further, "These defendants lined their pockets by stealing and selling the work of other video-game developers–-even going so far as to make customers pay a licensing fee to play stolen games."

According to the report, Team Xecuter has over a dozen located around the world. We last heard about lawsuits in May 2020 in two US States: Ohio and Washington. The Team Xecuter arrests so far concern Washington state, so it will be interesting to see if anything comes of the other lawsuit.

The Team Xecuter arrests are under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations.

Nintendo Switch Hacking Lawsuit Targets SX OS Device Sellers 4l6i25 https://siliconera.voiranime.info/nintendo-switch-hacking-lawsuit/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=nintendo-switch-hacking-lawsuit https://siliconera.voiranime.info/nintendo-switch-hacking-lawsuit/#respond <![CDATA[Lucas White]]> Tue, 19 May 2020 01:30:55 +0000 <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Nintendo Switch]]> <![CDATA[Nintendo Switch Lite]]> <![CDATA[North America]]> https://siliconera.voiranime.info/?p=836646 <![CDATA[

nintendo switch hacking lawsuit

Thanks to a hardware vulnerability Nintendo can't do anything about, the Switch homebrew community has been thriving. But while the Switch hacking community has mostly been benign, one group has developed its own hacked OS specifically built for software piracy and been selling devices and software licenses. The group, Team-Xecuter, has claimed its next device will work on hardware updates (including the Lite), so now Nintendo is firing back. Much like during previous generations, a new Nintendo Switch hacking lawsuit is going after outlets that sell these devices. [thanks, Polygon!]

Nintendo filed two lawsuits in May 2020, one in Ohio and one in Seattle. The Seattle lawsuit specifically targets a singular website, UberChips, while the Ohio suit has several anonymous defendants. These are all websites that sell products from Team-Xecuter, which install and enable the "SX OS" software. On newer Switch models, this requires a hardware modification, while on launch models it's much easier.

Nintendo is demanding $2,500 in damages for each sale and an immediate end to sales of these devices. Nintendo is also asking for these sellers' existing stock of the devices to be seized and destroyed. While the company’s legal team has been in the news quite a bit lately for actions against things like ROM sites and fan games, Nintendo also has a long history of battling circumvention devices, usually targeting the resellers who carry them.
