FuRyu revealed a new figure that will depict the famous NieR Automata character 2B in a Japanese Doll attire. The company has also opened pre-orders for the figure, which will be available in Japan in January 2026, with a price tag of 198,000 yen, or around $1,322.

Part of the reasons for the exorbitant price tag will be the figure's larger scale of 1/4 and an overall height of around 43 cm (~16.93 inches). The attire design for the static figure will also feature exquisite traditional Japanese art patterns.

While the FuRyu Hobby Mall website can only originally ship products domestically inside Japan, people residing outside the country can still place international orders via the Buyee widget. AmiAmi is also available as an alternative web store for non-Japanese residents. However, the latter can only ship the product to countries that EMS, but still excluding Argentina, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Spain, Denmark, and Rwanda.

As with most of the recent NieR Automata figures, this one will also be based on the character's appearances in the Ver1.1a anime adaptation rather than the original video game. The more recently revealed new figures include Good Smile Company's A2 figma and FREEing's bunny girl figures of 2B and A2.

Pre-orders for the 1/4 scale Japanese Doll version figure of 2B from the NieR Automata Ver1.1a anime adaptation are available until May 16, 2025. FuRyu will formally release the figure in January 2026.

The pre-orders for the figure opened today in both the Good Smile Company Japan and US online shops, with the pre-order period ending on April 23, 2025. The figure is fully articulated and it stands at approximately 160mm (or 6.30 inches) tall when set upright.

Alongside a base to set A2 in different action or resting poses, the figure comes with various hand parts and three face plates; a standard one, a face with gritted teeth, and a shouting face. Additionally, other parts included are a Type-4O small sword and large blade, as well as various alternate hair pieces, such as a dynamic long hair part, and a short hair part.

The figure was originally announced during the Wonder Festival 2025 back in February 10, 2025 alongside another scale figure of A2, both of them based on the character’s appearance in the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime adaptation.

The NieR: Automata Ver1.1a figma figure of A2 costs $110.99/12,800 yen and it will release on January 2026 in Japan and Q2 2026 in North America. The game is available on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Windows PC. There is also an anime adaptation that is available to stream via Crunchyroll.

Good Smile Company opened global pre-orders for FREEing's 1/4 scale figure of A2 from the NieR: Automata anime adaptation. People in the U.S. and Canada can order the figure on Good Smile Online Shop US at $309.99. Those residing elsewhere worldwide can instead head to the Japanese international web store, where the figure is available at ¥44,000.

The figure will stand at around 44 cm (17.32 inches) tall. A2's figure will also directly complement 2B's figure of the same 1/4 scale, which has been available for pre-orders earlier in December 2024. But while 2B's figure set will come with an alternate head part to show her unmasked face, A2's static figure package will not have any alternate parts as her face is already unveiled to begin with.

If someone would normally use the Good Smile Company US storefront, it might be wise to wait until it appears at another retailer. On subreddits like  r/GoodSmileCompany, r/Nendoroid, and r/AnimeFigures, some shoppers there reported fradulent charges on their cards and suggested it happened after shopping at that store.

The pre-order window for FREEing's 1/4 scale figure of A2 from the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime will close on February 5, 2025. Good Smile Company will start shipping the finished figures from Japan in July 2025 and North America in Q4 2025. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll now.

FREEing started accepting orders for its scale figure of 2B from the NieR Automata Ver1.1a anime. The figure is available for pre-order worldwide via the Japanese international Good Smile Company web store. The companies will formally release the figure in June 2025.

Most of the prior 2B anime figures revealed in the past—made by companies like Good Smile Company, Max Factory, and Proof—had a scale of 1/7. The newly revealed figure will have a larger 1/4 scale with an overall height of around 44.5 cm (17.52 inches). To get this figure, people must spend ¥44,000 (~$292.85) before adding shipping costs.

The new large figure will be mostly static without any movable body or clothing parts. However, FREEing will provide a swappable alternate head that shows 2B's full face with her eyes from the anime adaptation.

2B will not be the only NieR Automata character to have a 1/4 scale figure. FREEing also revealed that A2 will get her own figure. Good Smile Company added that A2's figure will be available later than 2B.

The NieR series is absolutely incredible and is enjoying the popularity and success it has deserved since the first game (with two versions) back in 2010. However, there is a major problem. With the end of the NieR Automata anime and Reincarnation, the series’ fans have nothing to look forward to now. As such, it feels like now is the time for a new game and true NieR Automata sequel.

Backing up a bit, NieR Automata first came out in 2017. It followed after a lengthy seven years of development following after the original NieR on the previous generation. Since then, sure, we have had Reincarnation, but that is a spin-off mobile game. There hasn't been a true third mainline title in the series in, you guessed it, more than seven years.

We just ed the gap between the two first games in real time. In addition, we are now in a new generation of consoles as well. The parallels here are pretty neat, while the series continues to be a popular one for Square Enix. It seems like 2025 is just the right time to announce and release the next game in the series.

But the long wait since NieR Automata isn’t the only factor to consider. There is also the element of how series fans like myself have nothing to look forward to now from NieR. NieR Reincarnation shut down earlier this year in April 2024. This was quite disappointing, as it was arguably the best, most professional free-to-play mobile gacha game I ever played.

And to make matters worse, the anime series NieR Automata Ver1.1a ended its run in September 2024. There is no new substantial content of any kind to look forward to now. But it still doesn’t stop there. What has Yoko Taro been up to the last few years? The wacky and lovable director of the series is in a bit of a slow period right now.

The last notable works Taro created was the NieR and KamiErabi anime series. The latter is still ongoing but Yoko Taro has shown he can work on multiple products at once. In addition, he hasn't worked on a notable game since the Voice of Cards titles in 2021 and 2022. Considering he worked on smaller titles in the same vein of these like SINoALICE at the same time as NieR Automata, it seems plausible he’s been cooking up something else all this time.

2025 just seems like the right time for this third title to come out. Interestingly enough, Square Enix’s slate of games next year is a bit light from what we know so far. All we know about right now is Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. To make matters worse, that is potentially in the first half of the year if I had to guess, so that means a barren year otherwise.

Without any other major announcements, this would be potentially the lightest year in Square Enix’s history. Kingdom Hearts 4 seems a bit too soon for 2025. The final part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy feels like 2027 at the earliest. The next FFXIV expansion shouldn’t come out until 2026. Outside of other remakes, smaller titles like perhaps a Harvestella 2, or possibly a new Bravely Default, 2025 looks lonely for Square Enix titles at best.

That is, unless a NieR Automata sequel comes out. This series has transcended from the niche market into the more mainstream side of RPGs. This would be a monumental experience for the current consoles of PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and possibly the Nintendo Switch 2. Now seems like the right time for a NieR game to be announced and released in 2025. So, don’t let us down, Yoko Taro.

Square Enix offered new details about the contents of the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime Blu-ray and DVD second volume box set. The Blu-Ray box set costs 31,900 yen (or approximately $206.59) while the DVD set costs 28,600 yen (~$185.24.)

The new Blu-ray and DVD box sets for the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime adaptation will release in Japan on December 25, 2024, and it will include chapters 13 through 24 comprising the second cour of episode for the anime season that originally aired between July and September 2024.

Some extras included with the box set are a box jacket featuring 9S and newly drawn by character designer and chief animation director Jun Nakai, the short story "Egao no Kimi e" penned by author Jun Eishima, the “fa[T]al error” drama CD, new production details for the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime, the Pod's Records 002 picture book, a replica disc, and a special illustration card.

The Blu-ray and DVD sets also include various video extras, such as creditless versions of the “Black Box” opening theme song performed by Lisa, and the “Ai to Inori” ending performed by Gems Company, as well as various promotional videos (PV) and commercials.

Good Smile Company opened pre-orders for a new figure based on 2B from the NieR Automata Ver1.1a anime adaptation. The figure is available for worldwide shipping via its Japanese international web store for ¥17,800. People residing in the U.S. and Canada can alternatively place orders on Good Smile Online Shop US storefront for $118.99.

While Good Smile Company had put up a page for another 2B figure in July 2024, Max Factory actually produced that one. This new figure will entirely come from Good Smile Company itself, with the GSC Production Department working on its production. Fuji Zoukei and Kenji Ando are working as the respective sculptor and painter for the figure.

Compared to Max Factory's version, Good Smile Company's figure will have a more modest base with 2B having a more neutral standing pose while wielding her Virtuous Contract sword. This figure will have an overall height of around 24 cm / 9.44 inches. The package will also have an alternate face plate that shows 2B's full anime face without the visor.

Good Smile's new figure will add yet another entry to the ever-growing list of figures based on the NieR Automata Ver1.1a rendition of 2B. Proof, Kotobukiya, and FuRyu have also revealed their own 2B figures, although they also produce additional figures based on 9S.

Good Smile Company will close pre-orders for its own 2B figure based on the NieR Automata Ver1.1a anime on November 27, 2024. It will ship the finished figures from Japan in June 2025 and North America in Q4 2025.

Taito announced that it now offers blankets based on the Nier Automata Ver1.1a anime as prizes in Taito Online Crane. People can now try to get the blankets via the Japanese online crane game.

These blankets are the exact same products as the ones that Taito had previously released for its physical crane games in November 2023. There are two variations for these blankets: one with the YoRHa logo and its slogan "For the Glory of Mankind," and the other with a monochromatic artwork of YoRHa No. 2 Type B, who is also better known as 2B. Each blanket has a total length of around 100 cm (~39.37 inches).

Taito set up Taito Online Crane so that people can play and try to win prizes without having to visit physical arcade centers. The company has also set up promotions to entice new players. Those who just ed an can play for free for the first five times. They can also get a free play session daily for the first sixty days.

In addition, the company is offering a free delivery ticket every week. But just like most other merchandise outlets in Japan, it can only deliver the prizes to domestic Japanese addresses.

The last puppet show episode for Nier Automata Ver1.1a has appeared on X (formerly Twitter), depicting a happy ending. The short clip shows 2B handing 9S a bouquet of flowers and then everyone cheers.

Aoki Yuka (moge) was the one in charge of the C parts in Nier Automata Ver1.1a. These little shorts appear at the end of the episode, showing puppet versions of the characters. Considering how the actual episodes are rather dramatic and tragic, they can be fun and cute palate cleansers. The contrast is also something that is in Yoko Taro’s works ever since the early days of Drakengard, which can be very humorous in tone despite how dark the narrative can get.

Nier Automata Ver1.1a is the anime adaptation of Nier Automata. Though it includes elements that weren’t in the game proper, it mostly follows along the plot. It started airing in January 2023 and recently had its final episode on September 27, 2024, with a total of 24 episodes.

Nier Automata Ver1.1a is available on streaming services like Crunchyroll. As for the game, you can play it on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.

A Japanese Twitter deciphered the hidden messages in each episode of NieR Automata anime and discovered that the last episode teases more to come for 2B and 9S. The message spoils what happens to them at the end of the show though, so if you haven't finished it or the game yet, you should be aware of that. [Thanks, moshii3456!]

During the last episode of the show, the message began with an emergency report regarding 2B and 9S. It then stated that the two of them surviving the final battle will lead to some great calamity or disaster. The message ended with a warning for the council, asking it to observe the pair with great care. As the show ended on September 27, 2024, it may be a sign that there’s a sequel or something else in the works. This will either be something original to the anime (as the anime ended as the game did), or it might adapt the storyline from the concert.

Ever since the NieR Automata anime adaptation started airing, people have known about the secret messages, but it wasn't known that they relate to 2B and 9S. They appeared in the eye catch animations each episode. In NieR Automata Ver1.1a, there are lines of code that appear which, when deciphered using a hexadecimal converter, turn into Japanese text.

The messages started with contemplation about an android’s existence, as well as observations on robotic lifeforms imitating humanity. As the episodes continued, they related more and more to the events at hand. For instance, it stated that the final mission of the YoRHA has begun and it’s forbidden to interfere with the events. It also noted that A2’s presence may be affecting how the story branches into different routes. Since robotic lifeforms operate in a network and humans are the ones that have a council in NieR Automata, these messages may be, on a meta level, for us as well.

A new cosplay costume set based on NieR: Automata protagonist 2B will release in Japan in late April 2025. The price for the set is 165,000 yen (or approximately $1,140.57), and pre-orders are now open from the official Cospa online store. [Thanks, DenFamiNico Gamer!]

The contents of the set include the 2B dress, combat visor, headband, gloves, and wig. The sizes available are ladies S, M, L, XL, and XXL. The skirt on the dress features the same embroidered pattern as the original 2B design. Additionally, Square Enix and Cospa shared some sample pictures of the cosplay set with renowned Japanese cosplayer Kasho Rosiel dressed as 2B.

The new NieR: Automata Ver1.1a figures of 2B and 9S belong to FuRyu’s Tenitol line of merchandise and figures. The 2B figure depicts the protagonist in a stylish pose, with 2B’s signature Virtuous Treaty large sword driven into the ground next to her. Additionally, the figure includes a replacement part to display 2B without her visor, revealing her face. The figure is about 220mm tall (~8.66 in,) and it is scheduled to release in Japan sometime in April 2025.

Meanwhile, the 9S figure has the character resting in a relaxed pose while sitting on a rusted railing. A part without the visor is also included for 9S. The figure is 180mm tall (~7.08 in,) and it will come out in Japan around May 2025.

In other news, Taito recently announced the release of a new set of NieR: Automata Tiny Melties figures of Adam and Eve as crane game prizes in Japan.

Taito announced the release of a new set of NieR: Automata mini figures featuring antagonists Adam and Eve melting like ice cream. The figures are now available as crane game prizes in Japan, with people able to win them from the Taito Online crane game website.

The mini figure set belongs to the Tiny Melties line, which depicts characters as though they are made of ice cream and melting. In the case of the Adam and Eve figures, the melting details can be perceived in the hair pieces, Adam's shirt and sleeves, and the bases of both figures.

The Adam and Eve figure set was first shown back in April 2024 alongside two Chubby Collection figures of protagonist 2B and a new figure of A2. SuperGroupies has announced that it is restocking its collection of merchandise based on the NieR Automata Ver1.1a anime. The brand gives people another chance to purchase the items on the brand's Japanese web store. It also s global deliveries with the WorldShopping widget.

SuperGroupies originally revealed the Nier Automata Ver1.1a merchandise lineup in late September 2023. It held a pre-order window for the items until mid-October 2023. The brand first released the items in May 2024.

The collection consists of watches, wallets, and bags inspired by 2B and 9S. The wallets and watches for both characters have the same price tags of ¥14,850 (~$103.45) and ¥24,200 (~$168.60), respectively. 2B's backpack bag is priced at ¥19,800 (~$137.95), while 9S' bag costs slightly less at ¥17,600 (~$122.60).

Even though the brand has restocked the items, they are still only available in limited amounts. In less than 10 hours after SuperGroupies published the announcement tweet, only five out of the six items remain available, as 2B's wallet has already sold out.

The SuperGroupies NieR Automata Ver1.1a merchandise collection is available for purchase while stocks last. These items are specifically based on the anime adaptation of Square Enix's popular video game NieR Automata. The anime's second cour launched in July 2024.
