Square Enix will shut down two Dragon Quest mobile games at the end of July 2024. The titles in question will be Dragon Quest Champions and Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi. The company made the announcements simultaneously on the respective official X s for Champions and Keshi Keshi on May 23, 2024, at 3pm JST (2am ET).

Dragon Quest Champions is a turn-based command battle RPG with a PvP mode that is reminiscent of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Square Enix employed help from Koei Tecmo's Omega Force, which is best known for Dynasty Warriors and Dragon Quest Heroes. Square Enix held a beta test in February 2023, but it actually released the game on June 13, 2023. That means Dragon Quest Champions has still yet to reach its first anniversary when the company announced its closure.

Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi is also a collaborative project, but Square Enix did it with NHN PlayArt of LINE: Disney Tsum Tsum fame. As implied by the Japanese title that means "Erase Erase," this game features the series' heroic characters as rubber erasers, and they are tasked to exterminate doodles made by an evil pen. As the game came out in Japan on December 1, 2021, it will have a longer total lifespan of exactly two years and eight months.

Dragon Quest Champions will remain available until July 30, 2024, and Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi will close the day after on July 31, 2024. Both Dragon Quest games have been playable on Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan.

According to an announcement via the official Japanese TERA Twitter , the long-running MMORPG will end service. The official end date for the Japanese server is April 20, 2022. While the game will end service in April, the major Patch 114 update will still go forth as planned on January 26, 2022. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Patch 114 will add a new main quest, dungeon, and equipment into the game. As well, the Slayer and Archer classes will be able to obtain Mastery following this patch. Patch 114 is already in the Korean version of the game. As the Japanese TERA server will end on April 20, that leaves about three months for players to enjoy Patch 114 content.

After the end of service, the Japanese TERA social media s will also all close down. These s are Twitter, LINE, YouTube, and Discord. In addition, there will be no refunds on currency. As a reminder, this closure will only affect the Japanese TERA . Those on other servers will be able to keep their currency and play the game past April 20, 2022.

TERA originally launched in 2011 in South Korea. The MMORPG uses real-time battle system, implementing a crosshair cursor that the player targets rather than clicking on individual enemies. Like other MMOs, it features systems such as crafting and PvP.

TERA is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. The Japanese server will end service on April 20, 2022.

Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi will release in Japan on December 1, 2021. This information came via a new trailer, which further highlighted how gameplay will function in the mobile game. In mid-October, pre-registration for Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi began in Japan. While a western release is planned, there is currently no word of a potential release date. [Thanks, Gematsu!]

Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi is a new mobile game set within the Dragon Quest universe. However, this entry is a puzzle focused title, and will not feature the combat system found in most Dragon Quest games. Players will need to align monster-shaped erasers on their screen to create combos. Additionally, players will be able to progress through a multitude of stages and areas.

Many new Dragon Quest titles were announced at Square Enix's 35th Anniversary special livestream, but one of the most accessible ones might be Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi. With a title that literally means "Dragon Quest Erase-Erase," the game was the first new title announced on stream. It also included a pre-rendered announcement trailer.

The Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi trailer shows an evil pen flying about and scribbling over the many adventure logs that represent various Dragon Quest storylines. The pen's doodle come to life, embodying various iconic franchise monsters and villains. Unable to stand this heresy is a band of heroic rubber erasers ("keshigomu" in Japanese). The erasers party up and fling themselves into battle against the nefarious vandals. They combine and morph into heroes and allies from the games, using their powers to defeat their foes.

In a message conveyed during the livestream (visible here at the 30-minute mark), Producer Yuta Ashimine noted that Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi is in development at NHN PlayArt. It developed Yo-Kai Watch: Wibble Wobble and #COM. It is destined for smartphones and tablets in 2021. It will feature classic Dragon Quest monsters, characters, and items. The trailer's opening suggests it'll use "Match 3" style gameplay mechanics, where players line up rows of icons (erasers, in this case) to power attacks that erase villainous scribbles.

Those Canadian and European trademarks back in November 2020 meant something. An English version of Atelier Online is on the way. Boltrend Games is working on the localization of Atelier Online: Alchemist of Bressisle. Only an animated trailer showing off a new alchemist (whose gender you can choose in-game) and some NPC allies is immediately available.

Atelier Online: Alchemist of Bressisle follows in the footsteps of past games. Players create a character, who is an alchemist in training in Bressisle. You’ll explore areas to find materials, fighting enemies that might be in different spots. You’ll need to use the items you find to create other ones. There are online elements where you work with other people to play.

Boltrend picked up a number of mobile games spin-offs of other series to release outside Japan. It’s the company behind the English releases of titles like Arc the Lad R, Disgaea RPG, Idola: Phantasy Star Saga, and Immortal Soul: Black Revival.  

Atelier Online: Alchemist of Bressisle is available on Android and Apple iOS devices in Japan. An English version of Atelier Online is on the way, though there are no pre-registration or launch details available yet.
