More information on the new Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt anime will appear on December 24, 2024. It’s been fourteen years since Gainax ruined Christmas with the ending of the first season, but it seems that Trigger will redeem it. [Thanks, Manga Mogura RE!]

News of the second season first appeared in July 2024. Back then, we only had a key visual of the main characters. Trigger is the animation studio behind the new season, and Hiroyuki Imaishi is the director and one of the writers. We will likely know when the new season will start on December 24, 2024, as well as whether any new characters and cast will show up.

Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt aired between October and December 2010. The staff came up with the concept while drinking and relaxing after Gurren Lagann finished airing, and the ridiculously over-the-top bawdy humor may be the result of how it came to be. As for the show itself, it follows angel sisters Panty and Stocking who were kicked out of Heaven due to bad behavior. In order to return to Heaven, they must collect Heaven Coins by defeating Ghosts. However, both Panty and Stocking are more interested in fulfilling their various desires on Earth.

The new Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt anime official title appeared at Anime Expo 2024, and it is going to be “New Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt.” The key art, which also included a list of credits for Studio Trigger people working on the project, also appeared at the event.

We first learned about the new project based on the show back at Anime Expo 2022 in July 2022. At the time, Trigger only teased it. Then at Anime Expo 2023, the first PV appeared and it confirmed Gainax ed the torch to them. Now the new art confirms some of the returning characters alongside staff.

Here’s the first key art for the New Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt anime. Panty is standing in front of a car, while Stocking is inside of it. Garterbelt is standing behind the vehicle. Brief is heading to go into the driver’s seat, but Chuck is biting him. Both Kneesocks and Scanty Daemon are in the backseat, and Fastener is with them.
