To commemorate the 50th anniversary of My Melody and 20th anniversary Kuromi, Sanrio is teaming up with Seiko and Sunflame Watch Gallery to release some collaboration watches. Watches from both brands are readily available in Japan.

The Seiko watch costs 43,780 JPY. This converts to $303.05. You can purchase this watch at the Premico Online Shop, which does not seem to offer overseas shipping. The Seiko 50th anniversary My Melody watch has a metallic rose gold face, with Melody where the 6 is and a bow where the 12 is. An image of My Melody is etched on the back, and the watch will come in a box that resembles a cute pink cottage.

As for the Sunflame Watch Gallery products, you can choose between three variations. They cost 2,750 JPY each, which converts to $19.05. The My Melody watch is a pale pink with darker accents, and the Kuromi watch is black with pale lavender accents. There is also a watch with both mascots. It has a hot pink band with black accents. These watches are available while supplies last. As of the time of writing, Sunflame Watch Gallery reports 25 left.

The My Melody and Kuromi anniversary watches are available in Japan. Other initiatives for the milestone include a Squishmallow, CASETiFY accessories, and a Line theme.

Sanrio announced that new Hello Kitty and My Melody yukata and jinbei clothing for children are now available for sale. The yukata costs 5,940 yen (or about $39.66) while the jinbei costs 5,170 yen ( or around $34.52) and they are both now available from the après le cours storefront and the F.O. online store.

The Hello Kitty model is of an off-white or ivory color and it features the iconic Sanrio character alongside a pattern of cherries. The Hello Kitty yukata and jinbei also come with an organdy obi belt that includes a pattern of Hello Kitty's own ribbon. Meanwhile, the My Melody models are pink with a floral pattern that also features the character.

The clothing is available in 6 different sizes each. The yukata sizes range from 100cm to 150 cm, while the jinbei sizes go from 80cm to 130 cm, both of them in increments of 10cm per size. You can check out the new Hello Kitty and My Melody yukata and jinbei in more detail here:

As a reminder, the Oita Airport in Japan will be renamed to Oita Hello Kitty Airport between April 13 and October 13, 2025 to celebrate the Osaka World Expo.

Sanrio posted a picture promoting a collaboration between My Melody and Strawberry Shortcake for National Strawberry Day. The promotional image uses the original design for Strawberry Shortcake, and the two have a matching strawberry pattern on their headwear.

Apparel and accessories using the collaboration design are on the websites of stores like Forever 21 and Target. However, Sanrio did not mention them in the post. It’s possible that more items featuring the two will appear in the future, though we will need to wait for Sanrio to announce more information about it in the future.

Items that are part of this line include a fanny pack, which costs $24.99 at Target. You can also get clothing items like a pullover and a pajama set at Forever 21. All of the items feature the retro design of Strawberry Shortcake posing with My Melody, with plenty of strawberries around them as part of the frame and overall pattern.

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of My Melody (and Kuromi), with Sanrio releasing collaboration merchandise like a Squishmallow pillow and CASETiFY phone accessories. As for Strawberry Shortcake, she’s a cartoon character who first appeared on greeting cards before becoming a franchise, complete with dolls and animations. Strawberry Shortcake first appeared in 1972, which means she’s around the same age as My Melody.

More information on the My Melody and Strawberry Shortcake collaboration may appear in the future, if Sanrio plans to do more than release clothes and accessories.

CASETiFY has released a new collection of Y3K My Melody smartphone accessories. This is the second line of products it released in collaboration with Sanrio’s My Melody mascot. [Thanks, PR Times!]

This collaboration is to commemorate My Melody’s 50th anniversary. It transports her to the year 3000 (hence Y3K), and features a very futuristic style. The color scheme blends metallic pink and black, combined with a retro bubble font that’s reminiscent of the Y2K aesthetic. One of the items CASETiFY has in this line is a pink chain that serves as a smartphone strap. However, the design of it is stylish enough that you can wear it on its own as a bracelet.

The My Melody Y3K 2025 page does not exist on the global CASETiFY website. You will need to be in Japan to access it. Once you do, you can see the prices for everything. Costs for smartphone cases range between 9020 JPY ($58.10) and 12,870 JPY ($82.55). Other items available include the wrist strap (8250 JPY), an earbuds case (starts from 5280 JPY), and a charging stand (15,180 JPY).

The CASETiFY My Melody Y3K 2025 products are readily available in Japan. Other commemorative products for My Melody’s 50th anniversary include a LINE theme and a Squishmallow.

Line released a new My Melody theme for the Sanrio mascot's 50th anniversary. This is a permanent addition to the Line shop, so you don’t have to rush to purchase it.

The 50th anniversary My Melody Sanrio Line theme is a bright and pastel pink, with a My Melody crane game going on in the background of conversations. Unlike some recent goods and campaigns for this mascot, we don’t see any characters like Kuromi or My Sweet Piano. My Melody is the only Sanrio mascot who appears in this theme, though she appears in different variations of herself. Like other Line themes, the icons when you’re inputting your , as well as the icons on the main menu, are different. This one uses My Melody heads.

My Melody first came out in 1975 as Hello Kitty’s best friend. She is a white rabbit with a pink (or red) hood that covers her ears, and she usually has a flower or a bow on her right side. Because of her design, as well as her long history, My Melody is a very popular Sanrio mascot. In the 2024 popularity poll for Sanrio, she appeared in sixth place (with her rival Kuromi appearing in third). She also frequently appears in collaborations or campaigns, like when Zoff released Sanrio glasses.

The 50th anniversary My Melody Line theme is in the Line shop as a permanent fixture. It costs $3.50.

MegaHouse announced a new collection of Kaitai Fantasy Sanrio figures is on the way, featuring beloved Sanrio characters with their skeletons on display. The new collection includes Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll. The collection is available in a box set including all four figures, and it costs 4,356 JPY (roughly $32). The expected release date is September 2023. Pre-orders are now available from the Chara-Ani online store, and they will close on June 19, 2023.

The new collection of Kaitai Fantasy Sanrio skeleton figures brings four new characters in a pastel color scheme. All four figures can be freely disassembled and assembled, or simply displayed as is. The different body parts that make out each figure include an exterior body frame, the skeleton, and a jewel located beneath the skeleton with a different shape for each character.

Good Smile Company opened pre-orders for Nendoroid figures of My Melody and Kuromi from Onegai My Melody. The two Sanrio characters will be poseable and come with several faceplates and additional parts. The Nendoroids will cost $54.99 each, with My Melody shipping in February 2023 and Kuromi in March 2023. Pre-orders opened on April 4, 2022, and will close on May 18, 2022, with limited stock.

My Melody comes with three faceplates, including a standard, worried, and smiling expression. She also comes with a holdable Melody Takt, an open parasol, and a bandage. Furthermore, My Melody also comes with a range of different arm and leg parts to allow for different poses.

Similarly, Kuromi comes with three different faceplates. These include a standard mischievous expression, shouting expression, and heart eyes expression. She also comes with the Melody Key and her Kuromi Note. Both My Melody and Kuromi can be posed sitting down.

Nendoroids aside, Sanrio often collaborates with other franchises to release merchandise. The company frequently collaborates with the Naruto and Boruto series. Earlier this year, it also collaborated with Sailor Moon as part of the series' 30th anniversary.

The My Melody and Kuromi Nendoroid figures are available for pre-order on the Good Smile Company website. Each Nendoroid will cost $54.99 with pre-orders closing on May 18, 2022, or until supplies last.
