Monster Hunter Now Artist Discusses Palico Design

Artist Yusuke Kozaki commented on the design of the new Palico companion introduced in Monster Hunter Now. The new Palico is named Senpai-kun and its design features a sporty neon yellow hoodie jacket, as well as paw guards.

The hoodie is fitted to give room for the Felyne’s ears, and the design uses magenta as an accent. The character is also carrying a backpack and has an extra slot for a bottle. In contrast with the grounded fantasy designs of the mainline Monster Hunter series, the new Palico character is wearing a contemporary sports and fitness attire.

In regards to this design, Yusuke Kozaki shared a message through his X (Twitter) explaining that he pursued aspects of cuteness and functionality that can be found in the real world. You can check out the design for the new Monster Hunter Now Palico companion and Kozaki’s original Japanese words here:

https://twitter.com/kymg/status/1868467227214889005

As a reminder, Capcom launched Season 4: Roars from the Winterwind, the new major update to Monster Hunter Now on December 12, 2024. The update adds new monsters to fight, and it introduced the Switch Axe weapon to the mobile game.

Monster Hunter Now is readily available for Android and iOS mobile devices.

Monster Hunter Now Update Adds Barioth and Zinogre

Capcom and Niantic announced the first major Monster Hunter Now update, called Fulminations in the Frost, and confirmed it will add monsters like Barioth and Zinogre and the Dual Blades and Lance weapons. All of the new content is live in the game.

With the two new Monster Hunter Now weapons, Director Chihiro Kanno explained why the Dual Blades and Lance were chosen. With the Lance, it was more of a balancing situation. It includes Guard and Offensive Guard skills, making it the second weapon in the game that can. With the Dual Blades, their inclusion was due to fan demand. Kanno also noted that it will bring Demon Mode with it.

As for the new Monster Hunter Now monsters, the inclusion of characters like Barioth and Zinogre were designed to touch on both fan-favorites and wintry themes. Zinogre was the one that was in-demand. Barioth, Cortos, and Wulg were added to help add more “Winter” monsters. As such, they’ll be around between December and March months each year. Banbaro was also noted as a winter-themed character, but Kanno didn’t note if that one will also only appear in that four month “season” as well. Finally, Kanno noted Radobaan was included so the “sleep” status effect could be added.

The new update also adds a Hunt-a-Thon to Monster Hunter Now. This mode is the only way to find Zinogre. People will need to look for Wayspots with Dimensional Rifts, then go in alone or with up to three other Hunters. People will then face multiple monster encounters.

Here’s a teaser trailer showing the Monster Hunter Now Dual Blades, Lance, and Hunt-a-Thon.

https://twitter.com/MH_Now_EN/status/1732563953098559815

In addition to the major features, some other additions and quality of life changes are available in the update or on the way. Special Quests featuring the new monsters added in Fulminations in the Frost will appear. We’ll also see larger Item Boxes, though that won’t happen until later in December 2023.

Finally, Kanno went over the future of Monster Hunter Now. In Spring 2024 the next major update will arrive. More details about that update and a roap to show events and content coming will appear in January 2024. While no specific monsters or weapons were teased, the announcement did note there will be story quests and seasons on the way.

Monster Hunter Now is available for mobile devices, as is the Fulminations in the Frost major update.

Monster Hunter Now Halloween Event Adds Pumpkin-Wielding Kulu-Ya-Ku Encounters

Niantic announced that there will be a Monster Hunter Now Halloween event, and Kulu-Ya-Ku will be its featured monster. The bulk of the event will begin on October 25, 2023. That’s when special quests and bundles to buy will start to show up. However, the Kulu-Ya-Ku and an additional quest won’t appear until October 28, 2023. As long as someone hit Hunter Rank 11, they can take part.

The Halloween Pumpkin Hunt Quests and Halloween time-limited packs will both show up on October 25, 2023. The quests are part of the activities tied to the new Jack-o’-Head head armor people can get and upgrade. It has the Solidarity (Pumpkin Hunt) attack-boosting skill tied to it. The quests let you earn Pumpkin Tickets by playing, which improve that head armor. As for the two packs, the Halloween Pack offers two Special Carving Knives, two Paintballs, two Wander Droplets, and 10 Potions. The Halloween Pack includes the same items, but in greater quantities. So you get three Special Carving Knives, six Paintballs, six Wander Droplets, and 30 Potions.

As for the October 28, 2023 activities, that’s when the Halloween Medal Acquisition Quest and Kula-Ya-Ku come to Monster Hunter Now and stay through October 31, 2023. The quest lets you earn the limited-time Hunt Medal. The Kula-Ya-Ku looks different than usual, due to carrying a rock that looks like a Jack-o’-lantern, and also drops Pumpkin Tickets.

This isn’t the first event to appear in the mobile game since its September 2023 launch. Another one focused on a specific monster. In the second half of last month, people had a chance to deal with a Diablos Invasion.

Monster Hunter Now is available for mobile devices, and the Halloween event runs between October 25-31, 2023.

Those of us who are now Monster Hunter Now hunters can take part in a Diablos Invasion event starting on September 23, 2023. This will be the first event for the game. Like Pokemon GO, it means the particular character will appear more frequently during a certain period of time for a two day period. This is designed to help people get more materials and experience.

Like the Pokemon GO Community Day events, the Monster Hunter Now Diablos Invasion only takes place over the course of a few hours. So between 1pm and 4pm local time on September 23-24, 2023, you’ll see more Diablos around your area if you are at HR11.

Reaching that rank also means you’ll see some special missions in the Special Quests section. Those quests will be available to fulfill even when the event isn’t running, as they start at 12am local time on September 23, 2023. However, they also end at 11:59pm local time on September 24, 2023, so they are limited.  There will also be rewards for just taking a picture of the monster in AR mode as part of these challenges.

Monster Hunter Now is available on mobile devices, and the Diablos Invasion event runs September 23-24, 2023.

Monster Hunter Now Second Beta Test

The second round of closed beta tests for Monster Hunter Now is about to begin. Niantic confirmed that invitations will be sent out to a select number of players who signed up. The first beta test period happened in April 2023.

Players are able to sign up for the second beta test now on the official Monster Hunter Now site. You simply provide your email, date of birth, gender, and region. You will also be asked your device type, but the closed beta will only be available for Android s. This round of beta tests will be limited to 10,000 participants. It’s also the final beta test, so if you’re unable to get into this test, then you’ll have to wait for the full game in September 2023.

Monster Hunter Now is a game similar to Niantic’s other big hit Pokemon GO. However, instead of catching Pokemon, players can find the likes of Rathalos in their neighborhood. Players can battle these monsters from Capcom’s iconic franchise either alone or with a group of friends. This is the third video game franchise Niantic made an AR game out of, after Pokemon GO and Pikmin Bloom. They have also made similar games for Harry Potter, Transformers, Marvel and Settlers of Catan.

Monster Hunter Now is set to release for iOS and Android in September 2023.

Monster Hunter Now Coming from Pokemon GO Creator Niantic

Niantic, the creator of Pokemon GO, is working with Capcom on a similar sort of mobile game called Monster Hunter Now and a closed beta test is on the way. On April 25, 2023, a limited number of people will be able to test the mobile title. The website is open for pre-registrations now. However, the beta will only feature English and Japanese language . There's also a first trailer and Twitter .

Here's the first teaser trailer, which shows characters from the Monster Hunter series in the real world for players to fight.

As for applying, it’s fairly easy. You need to use a Google email to participate. The application asks for your date of birth, gender, where you live, what kind of mobile device you’d use to play this mobile game, and if you’re a Monster Hunter fan. If you don’t get an email to start playing immediately at launch, that doesn’t mean you won’t get into the trial. The site noted they’ll be sent throughout the test. However, know that your progress won’t carry over to the full game.

Recently, Niantic has come under fire for its actions with Pokemon GO. The developer limited and raised the prices of Remote Raid es, which were considered an accessibility item, as well as reduced the running time for events. The fanbase has been quite vocal in response, calling for boycotts and creating petitions that garnered over 100,000 signatures.

Monster Hunter Now’s closed beta will begin on April 25, 2023 on mobile devices, and its release window falls in Septemver 2023.
