Sunrise and Kadokawa have launched the new spin-off manga based on Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. The full title of the new manga is Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury - Frontiers in Glory Days, and it is immediately available in Japanese on Comic Walker.

The companies had previously unveiled the spin-off manga in late December 2024 with the Japanese subtitle Seishun Frontier, which could be translated to "Adolescent Frontier." While today's release matched the promised Spring 2025 window, the Japanese chapter revealed Frontiers in Glory Days as the official English subtitle.

This spin-off manga notably changes all the locations so that it takes place entirely on a near-future Earth. The Asticassia School of Technology is now located in the existing Japanese prefecture of Kanagawa. Suletta is alternatively depicted as coming from Alaska, even though she retains her Mercury surname. Her mother also instead goes on a business trip to South America to oversee the launch of an explorer spacecraft.

The last page of the inaugural chapter teases the appearance of "Aerial," which shares the same name as the original title's flagship mech, XVX-016 Gundam Aerial. This teaser comes from a chat message sent by Suletta's elder sister in English to further reinforce the new setting of the Mercury family residing in Alaska.

The first chapter of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury - Frontiers in Glory Days is readily available to read in Japanese on Comic Walker. The second chapter will appear on the same platform on June 27, 2025.

A new spin-off manga for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, Seishun Frontier (Adolescent Frontier), will appear in Comic Newtype from Spring 2025. This is an AU of the show in which Suletta and Miorine are high school girls in a near-future Japan.

In the key visual, we can see Suletta and Miorine in their high school uniforms, sitting on a ledge while eating lunch. They’re both eating onigiri, and Suletta’s side of the ledge is a mess while Miorine’s is more organized. It looks like Miorine is pointing out that there are rice grains around Suletta’s mouth, while Suletta’s embarrassed.

As for the plot of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Adolescent Frontier, it focuses on Suletta and Miorine’s first meeting in this parallel world. Hisadake of Morion Airline, who also worked on the show, is the writer. Meanwhile, Hata Hiro (illustrator and mangaka of series like Dogs and the Brave Are Not Showy) is the artist.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury aired from 2022 to 2023. It takes place in the Ad Stella timeline, focusing on a conflict between Spacians (inhabitants of space colonies) and Earthians (people born on Earth). The story follows Suletta, a transfer student to Asticassia School of Technology from Mercury, who pilots a Gundam using forbidden technology. In her first duel, she wins the hand of Miorine Rembran, daughter of the president of the megacorporation that also runs the school.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is available on Crunchyroll, and the Adolescent Frontier manga will start serialization in Comic Newtype from Spring 2025.

Bandai Namco's Strict-G Gundam brand announced a collaboration with clothing manufacturer Alpha Industries to release two new jackets inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury protagonists Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran. A newly drawn key visual featuring the protagonist duo was also revealed.

The Suletta jacket is black with the interior lining and other decorations using yolk yellow as accent color. The Asticassia School of Technology logo is engraved on the right side of the jacket, with Suletta's name tag engraved on the left side. The character’s LP041 student ID is engraved on an emblem on the upper side of the right sleeve, as well as the back of the jacket. The Suletta jacket costs 45,100 yen (or about $295.21) and it available for pre-order until November 10, 2024 from Bandai.

Meanwhile, the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Miorine jacket is dark green with the inner lining blue. This jacket features a hoodie, and the details are accented in red, like the LS001 student ID number on the back and the school logo on the right chest part. The Miorine jacket costs 46,200 yen (~$302.43.)

Starting on October 17, 2024, 7-Eleven in Japan will run a Mobile Suit Gundam campaign for the series’ 45th anniversary. You’ll be able to get an original clear sheet when you buy a certain brand of chocolate.

There are four variations of sheets to collect: Kira, Athrun, Suletta, and Miorine. The sheets show the visuals of the characters as they appear for the campaign, along with some key scenes from their respective properties. The website suggests several ways you can use them, as they’re more akin to cards than anything else. For example, you can use them as a bookmark or stick them into a clear phone case to show your love for the character. In order to get one, you’ll need to buy three chocolates that are part of the campaign, and you can mix and match which brand. The website lists the items that are part of this.

This promotion will last until October 30, 2024. However, there’s a chance it’ll end early if the stores run out of sheets. From October 29, 2024, you’ll be able to get other pieces of merchandise from the Seven Net Shopping site. The limited edition merchandise again uses the visuals for the 7-Eleven Gundam campaign, and you can get them on acrylic stands and can badges.

The Mobile Suit Gundam 45th anniversary campaign at 7-11 will run from October 17 to October 29, 2024. You can catch up with the escapades of Kira and Athrun in particular in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom, which is available on Netflix.

Bandai Spirits revealed that it will launch the third batch of the Ichiban Kuji lottery featuring Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury in October 2024, and this lottery will feature new figures of the title's main characters Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran as available prizes.

The full prize list for the lottery is as follows:

• A Prize: Figure set of Suletta and Miorine
• B Prize: Visual stand of the 24th episode end card
• C Prize: Visual stand of the final episode commemoration illustration
• D Prize: Chokonokko chibi figures of Suletta and Miorine

However, Bandai Spirits has so far only shared sample images for three of the prizes, and they are all Gundam: The Witch from Mercury figures. The company will publish images for the remaining items at a later time.

Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran have been receiving a lot of merchandise as the main characters of The Witch From Mercury. Earlier in May 2024, Megahouse released two palm-sized figures modeled after the same characters.

The third volume of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Ichiban Kuji lottery will launch in late October 2024. A ticket for this lottery will cost 790 yen (~$5). The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for the Gundam collaboration in Call of Duty. The trailer is under a minute long and it shows off the various Gundams you’ll be able to play as. [Thanks, Gundam Info!]

In the trailer, we can see the Gundam, the Aerial, and the Char Zaku II. Each pack include the mobile suits wielding weapons familiar with fans of their respective shows, along with charms and stickers. It seems that they chose two of the more recognizable Gundams (as the original Gundam and Char’s Zaku II were from the original series) and one from the newest one. The latest mainline entry in the Gundam anime series was The Witch From Mercury, with Aerial serving as protagonist Suletta’s machine.

Here’s when each Tracer Pack will be available, as well as how long you’ll have to get them:

• Zaku II: June 2 to August 31, 2024
• Aerial: June 4 to September 2, 2024
• Gundam: June 6 to September 4, 2024

The director of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury has confirmed that Suletta and Miorine are married to each other. This information comes from an interview that was in the final Blu-Ray of the series. [Thanks, Automaton and sgk_123!]

Here is a translation of the director’s comment, as well as the question, based on the screenshot that Twitter “sgk_123” ed:

Q: The epilogue shows the characters three years after the end of the show. Is this also something that you planned out in advance?

A: We were always going to show an epilogue, but the decision to make it three years after the end came after. As for what happens in the epilogue, we took from Shakespeare’s The Tempest. It shows Suletta and Miorine as partners after they got married.

The people who worked on the show have always stated that Suletta and Miorine married each other at the end. However, in July 2023, Bandai Namco removed these implications from interviews and apologized for leaving them in.

According to Bandai Namco, it was due to Kana Ichinose, Suletta’s voice actress, making conjectures. Fan reactions to this apology were largely negative. This time, though, it is Hiroshi Kobayashi, director of the show, who is confirming in a more official capacity that the two of them are a same-sex couple.

Palm-sized figures of Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran from Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will be available for pre-orders soon. MegaHouse revealed the G.E.M. series figures, which it will release in 2024 with a regular price tag of 7,920 yen (~$52.60).

There will be an opportunity to get both items worldwide. The figures will also be available on AmiAmi, which s international shipping with a discounted price of 6,730 yen (~$44.76).

The small figure of Suletta, who is sitting with bent knees, will have an overall height of approximately 90mm (~3.5 inches). Meanwhile, the figure of Miorine who is lying down with her legs bent upwards will be around 120mm (~4.7 inches) long. Each set will come with a pedestal to house the pre-painted figure.

The following images also show how the figures will look like when they are actually placed on one's palms.

MegaHouse has been producing figures of Gundam: The Witch from Mercury characters. In October 2023, it revealed a 1/8 scale static figure of the title's protagonist Suletta Mercury. The publisher will release this figure in late June 2024.

Bandai announced new room wear apparel based on the uniforms used worn in Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Pre-orders for the uniform room wear are now available until November 29, 2023 from the Bandai online store. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The new room wear is based on the uniforms that students of the Asticassia School of Technology use in the latest Gundam anime series. They are available in two models, a green and black model with red accents, and a white and black one with gold accents.

Both uniform models cost 13,200 yen (or approximately $88). The new uniforms are unisex, and they are available in M, L, and XL sizes. You can take a better look at the new Gundam: The Witch from Mercury room wear uniforms in the gallery below:

In other recent Gundam: The Witch from Mercury news, MegaHouse recently revealed a new 1/8 scale figure of Suletta Mercury. Pre-orders for the figure are now available, and it will release in late June 2024.

Megahouse will release a 1/8 scale Gundam Girls Generation figure of Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. It will open pre-orders in select Japanese stores including AmiAmi, which will international shipping. It will appear in late June 2024. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The 215mm (8.46 inches) tall figure will be completely static with no movable parts, including the 'windblown' hair and tie. Megahouse will instead focus on adding details to the character's attire. A part of the Gundam Aerial's chest will appear as the figure's base.

Pre-orders for the figure will be exclusively available on Bandai, AmiAmi, Volks, and Yellow Submarine on October 6, 2023, at 1 PM JST (12 AM ET). The figure will have a price tag of ¥24,200 (~$162).

Sunrise and Bandai have been releasing various kinds of merchandise related to Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. Earlier in 2023, the Japanese Bandai website sold a real-life version of Suletta Mercury's hair barrette. Primaniacs also released fragrance perfumes inspired by Suletta and other Witch From Mercury characters.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury aired in two separate seasons from October 2022 to June 2023. The anime show is available to watch on Crunchyroll and the GundamInfo YouTube channel. Megahouse will close pre-orders for the 1/8 scale Suletta Mercury figure in early December 2023. It will release and ship the finished figures in late June 2024.

The staff for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury confirmed that it will not re-sell or accept mail orders for the art book based on the show. According to social media posts on Twitter, this has lead to exceptionally long lines in Japan as people try to purchase it while it’s available.

As a note, this art book is technically unofficial. Bandai Namco did not release it. Instead, the staff who worked on the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime released it independently at Comiket. As such, there are blatant references to SuleMio on the cover, as well as in the book itself.

It’s unclear if the staff planned on releasing the art book beforehand in an official or non-official capacity. However, the release of the book comes at a time when netizens both in and out of Japan are highly critical of Bandai Namco. Bandai Namco currently own the rights to Mobile Suit Gundam. It removed references to SuleMio from an interview with Kana Ichinose, who voices Suletta, and stated that the ship is “open to interpretation.” Many fans pointed out that the show did not leave much room for interpretation. They also suggested that Bandai Namco would not have put out such a statement if SuleMio was a heterosexual pair.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is available on streaming services like Crunchyroll. The art book is still available to purchase, but you will not be able to directly buy it from the staff afterwards.

Crunchyroll added to its list of anime shows that are "free" to watch due to being ad-ed. 19 more shows are now available. Bandai Namco issued an apology in regards to an interview about Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury in the September 2023 issue of Monthly Gundam Ace regarding "SuleMio," the relationship between Suletta and Miorine. It apologized for "causing confusion" over a line in regards to the characters and their relationship.

In the digital version of an interview with Kana Ichinose, the Japanese voice actress for Suletta in Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, she said that the scene of Miorine leaning her head against Suletta in the epilogue was really good. She also talked about how close the two of them became after three years and that she felt touched to see the “married couple” act in this way. Because of Ichinose’s status and the interview appearing in an official Gundam magazine, many viewed this as Sunrise's confirmation that SuleMio is canon.

However, the physical version of the interview did not include Ichinose’s comment about the two of them being married. After fan reaction online, Bandai Namco explained that it asked an editor to remove the line. The reason for the request was because it was conjecture. However, the editor kept it in and it went online on July 26, 2023. The official stance is that it wants to leave things up to the viewers’ interpretation. This is why it did not want to include a statement on a canon ship. The digital version of the article also no longer contains the SuleMio reference.

Fan reaction online to the interview has been largely negative. Many accused Bandai Namco of homophobia and cowardice. Some argued that if SuleMio is "open to interpretation," then certain lines and scenes from the Gundam: Witch From Mercury epilogue should not even exist because of how blatant their ship status is. Other comments noted they can see why Bandai Namco chose to cut the line from the interview and issue this apology.

MegaHouse shared new prototype photoes of characters from the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Look Up figures line. Unpainted versions of Nika Nanaura and Chutaury "ChuChu" Panluch appeared. Additional images showed painted prototypes for Guel Jeturk, Elan Ceres, and Shaddiq Zenelli.

As part of the MegaHobbyPlus 2023 Early Summer announcements, MegaHouse first presented the prototypes for Look Up figures based on Nika and ChuChu. Both of the Earth House in the Asticassia School of Technology appear in their school uniforms and will measure 110 mm each. More details on the release date will appear later.

In addition, MegaHouse also shared new images of the painted prototypes for the houses’ representatives. Guel and Shaddiq appear with their legs crossed with a serious and a grinning face respectively. As for Elan (Enhanced Person Number 5), he is depicted smiling with his mouth open.

These Elan, Guel, and Shaddiq figures were announced in early 2023 along with the Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran ones, totaling seven Look Up figures in total based on Gundam: The Witch from Mercury characters. The Suletta and Miorine figures are already available for pre-order in the MegaHouse online shop.

You can currently watch the ongoing second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury on Crunchyroll, Netflix Japan, and Bilibili. The Look Up figures of Suletta, Miorine, Elan, Guel, and Shaddiq will release on late November 2023 in Japan for ¥4,620 (about $33).

Bandai Namco Holdings announced that the Gundam franchise made 131 billion JPY in its 2023 fiscal year. This is a a record-breaking amount of profits for the series. Masaru Kawaguchi, the president of Bandai Namco Holdings, specifically cited The Witch From Mercury for revitalizing interest in the series. [Thanks, ANN!]

For reference, 131 billion JPY would equate to around $944 million. Much of these profits came from Gunpla sales, which fits the trend that started in FY2020. Of these Gunpla, the Aerial is one of the most popular models. This fits with the high interest in The Witch From Mercury. In the previous fiscal year, Bandai Namco Holdings made 101.7 billion JPY. So there is a difference of about 30 billion JPY.

The Witch From Mercury attracted many new fans to the Gundam franchise, according to a March 2023 newsletter from Bandai Namco. Most of these new fans are young people and women. Their interest in The Witch From Mercury compared to other Gundam series could be due to the two main leads being female characters. Many fans have noticed the similarities between The Witch From Mercury and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Coincidentally or not, The Witch From Mercury's writer penned the light novels for Revolutionary Girl Utena as well.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is available on streaming services such as Crunchyroll. Other IPs that have generated substantial profits for Bandai Namco include Dragon Ball, One Piece, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
