This week is the week of rereleases in Japan, with three Atelier series games, Steins;Gate Elite, two enhanced Sega Ages games, the enhanced version of Nil irari no Tenbin, and more coming out on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Spread among these are ports of old beat’em up titles with the Capcom Beat’em Up Bundle, Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae, and Daisenryaku Perfect 4.0.

Playism’s next PlayStation game is Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae. Originally a Japanese doujin game released at Comic Market 84, the formerly Windows PC game is being ported to the PlayStation 4.

In Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae, players follow a young woman named Misa. She follows the way of the samurai, using her sword to cut through enemies like monsters, robots, and generally evil people. Her ultimate goal, however, is to catch up to her friend Suzuka, as Suzuka has stolen a demonic sword.

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is a hack-and-slash game that relies on sword combos. However, Misa is also able to kick and counter. Additionally, in the middle of a combo, players can make Misa sheath her sword to make all enemies wounds open and finish them off.

People will be able to find Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae on the PlayStation Store for $11.99, starting February 16, 2016. No additional content has been mentioned for the port. The Windows PC version is immediately available on Steam for $9.99.

Japanese game publisher and digital marketplace Playism has confirmed with a new webpage the Japanese games it will be bringing to the US and Europe (confirmed via Twitter) this year on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

First up is TorqueL for both PS4 and PS Vita. It’s an award-winning action-puzzler in which you play a man inside a square. The challenge is to roll the man across the treacherous levels. You can extend long blocks out of each of the square’s four sides to lift, push, and thrust the man in the square around.

Next up is Prismatic Solid heading to the PS4 only. It’s a forced rail shooter with lots of different particle types, and projectiles that fill the entire screen in a haze of bright color. The more power-ups you have the better in this one as snake-like projectiles they send out absorb enemy bullets.

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is coming to PS4 as well. You play as school girl Misa as she uses her samurai sword to slash through waves of robots in an enclosed arena. Misa is after her former friend Suzuka who killed their teacher using her demonic blade.

Croixleur Sigma is heading to both PS4 and PS Vita. It’s a high-speed brawler that has you battling hordes of monsters up several floors of a tower in order to beat your childhood friend to the top. It has a Story Mode, multiple endings, two player co-op, as well as Time Trial, Survival, and Challenge modes.

The fifth title that Playism is bringing to the PS4 this year is Astebreed. This is an arcade shooter in which you pilot a mecha to save what’s left of humanity during a galactic war with an ancient mechanical alien race. Most notable is the game’s dynamic perspective, often switching between vertical, horizontal, and 3D shooter-styles across its levels.

Lastly, we have Revolver 360 RE:ACTOR making its way to PS4. This blue-washed shmup has you twisting and rotating your perspective in order to line up enemies into more manageable formations, and to dodge incoming bullets.

Nyu Media, Playism and other doujin game publishers have teamed up to hold a “Japanese Indie Festival” discount sale on Steam that will run until August 17th. The sale is being held to celebrate the Comic Market 86 event in Japan.

The cool thing about the sale is that nearly every game can be picked up for less than $5. The only ones over $5 are World End Economica: Episode 1 and Astebreed (above). Everything else ranges from $1.01 to $4.99.

Some of the highlights are: Croixleur for $3.99, La-Mulana for $2.99, Vanguard Princess for $2.49 and Cherry Tree High Comedy Club for $2.71. Those are some pretty steep cuts, considering some of these games normally cost as much as $14.99.

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is an action game developed by the indie developer Zenith Blue that made an appearance at Comiket 84. In this PC brawler, you play as a girl named Misa who owns a holy sword and is chasing a former comrade named Suzuka, who posseses a demon blade that she used to kill their teacher.

As Misa, you will use your sword to slice and rip apart waves of enemies on a circular battle field. Your sword gauge will gradually decrease when you fight with your sword and increase when you fight with melee attacks, forcing you to mix it up.

When one or more enemies are blinking red, you can unleash your special attack in which you sheathe your sword and instantly kill every weakened enemy, samurai movie-style. As you kill enemies, you gain skill points that you can use to upgrade your stats and learn new techniques.

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is available now for PC for 1,980 yen.
