Ahead of the debut of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in August 2025, Konami shared the opening movie that includes the new version of the theme song. The company also confirmed that Cynthia Harrell is again performing “Snake Eater,” as she returned to rerecord the classic track.

While the song is familiar, the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater opening movie is new. Konami noted Kyle Cooper rearranged and did it. There will also be ways to interact with it, though Konami didn’t say exactly what will change as we watch and press buttons during it.

The video begins with newspapers setting the stage for the Cold War story before showing Naked Snake in different situations from the game. Other major characters like Colonel Yevgeny Borisovitch Volgin, The Fear, The End, and The Boss also appear. Also, at the 1:30 mark you can actually see Naked Snake eating a snake that he cooked over a fire.

Here is the full Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater opening movie on YouTube with Cynthia Harrell’s new recording of the theme song.

We’ve seen quite a few updates before this latest reveal. For example, Konami shared the Japanese collector’s edition back in April 2025. That includes a bust of Naked Snake you can display and a FOX Unit patch you can add to clothing.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 28, 2025. The original game appeared on the PS2, and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D appeared on the 3DS.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Japan Collector’s Edition Includes Snake Bust

Konami has revealed the contents of the collector’s edition of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in Japan, and it features a bust statue of Naked Snake with a white snake wrapped around him. Known as the Pack, this limited edition is exclusive to the Konami Style online store. It is unknown if we could see the bust appear outside Japan as part of other special editions. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

In addition to the aforementioned bust, the Edition includes an original vinyl soundtrack, an exclusive SteelBook game case with the original Yoji Shinkawa art for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and a FOX Unit patch. All of this will be packaged in a special collector’s box with renders of the main cast on display. A special clear file folder is also included as an early purchase bonus.

The PS5 version of the Pack costs 38,500 yen (or about $266.41), and it also includes the White Tuxedo DLC costume. A version of the Pack that includes only the physical collectable goods without the game nor DLCs is also available, and it costs 29,920 yen (~$207.05).

Metal Gear Solid delta ape escape release date

A leaked trailer for the Metal Gear Solid Delta remake lists a release date of August 28, 2025 for the title, as well as confirms the return of the Ape Escape collaboration. The trailer was spotted on the Playstation store and posted to Resetera by NateDog. [Thanks, Resetera!]

Metal Gear Solid Delta is remake of 2004's Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and it does not yet have an officially announced release date despite being reportedly playable "from beginning to end" back in September 2024. In addition to showing off some of the game's bosses, such as The Fury and The End, the trailer also confirmed the return of Ape Escape crossover content. This collaboration originally appeared in Playstation 2 copies of the original game as a series of small missions featuring the series' signature Apes.

You can watch the leaked trailer itself here.

Back in October, 2024, Producer Noriaki Okamura and Creative Producer Yuji Korekado discussed possibly remaking other games in the series in an interview with Famitsu. The month after, Konami also revealed that Jodi Benson (a.k.a. Suzetta Minet) would return to voice the character of Eva.

According to the leaked trailer, Metal Gear Solid Delta will release on August 28, 2025, for PS5. The game is also expected to come to PC and Xbox Series X.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Eva

Konami revealed the identity of the voice actor for Eva in a new behind the scenes video for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The video featured a discussion between the voice actors for the characters Naked Snake, Eva and The Boss as they talked about their experiences working on the original game.

In the original Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Eva's voice actor was credited under the alias of Suzetta Minet. But for Metal Gear Solid Delta she is being credited under her real name, which is Jodi Benson. She is best known as the voice actor for Ariel in The Little Mermaid, as well as a number of other projects for Disney. This was the reason for her using an alias in the original game, as the association with a military game caused potential conflict with her other child-friendly work.

Here's the full video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDIWFh7nYa4

Along with Jodi Benson, the video also features fellow voice actors David Hayter (Naked Snake) and Lori Alan (The Boss) recounting their experiences working on both the original game and the new lines for Metal Gear Solid Delta. This included the reveal of how Hayter and Benson performed the kissing scenes. We also got a first look at a couple of remade scenes. These included Eva and Snake’s hug as they leave Groznyj Grad and the interaction between Snake and The Boss early on after the start of the Snake Eater mission.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Interview Discussed Other Remakes

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Metal Gear Solid Delta Producer Noriaki Okamura and Creative Producer Yuji Korekado talked about the possibility of making more remakes of games in the Metal Gear series. In short, there's no news yet. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

When asked about the possibility of new Metal Gear remakes appearing in the future, Okamura said that, if the developers were to remake the original Metal Gear Solid or the first two Metal Gear titles as an example, the same mindset of keeping faithful to the original used for Metal Gear Solid Delta would not work. He noted that they would need to create many new elements from the ground up.

Because of this, the developers don't know if they can properly continue with the Metal Gear series or how far they would be able to take it. However, Okamura added that the developers would like to wait until people get the chance to play MGS Delta and offer their before moving forward with the Metal Gear series.

With the number of staff that worked on the original Metal Gear series growing thinner, the developers would like to create a way to preserve the Metal Gear series for the next 10 to 50 years. Korekado said that, if every Metal Gear title is available on PC, the chance of people continuing to play and discover the series in the next 10 or 20 years is high. That is part of their goal involving preserving the series.

In the latest Production Hotline broadcast for the Metal Gear series the developers confirmed that MGS Delta is currently playable from beginning to end. While they couldn’t confirm the release date, they reassured players that the game won’t take years to come out. In the latest Famitsu interview, the developers reiterated the news.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development and will appear for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Is Playable From Beginning to End

During the recently released Metal Gear Production Hotline #2, series Promotions Director Jiro Oishi and Production Producer Noriaki Okamura said that Metal Gear Solid Delta is currently playable from beginning to end. Additionally, the developers answered some question about the title and other titles in the MGS series.

First, you can take a look at the Metal Gear Production Hotline #2 broadcast below. It is available in Japanese and YouTube offers English closed captions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b86pccn_5SE

The video opens with the developers talking about media reception of the recently shown Metal Gear Solid Delta footage, with most media being positive on what has been shown so far. Another point of contention was the remake being “too faithful” to the original MGS3.

The developers wanted to keep the overall game experience of the original in MGS Delta, citing that making substantial changes would have altered the game entirely. Meanwhile, the opening of the remake will credit the staff for MGS3 as the “original” developers, with the staff that worked on MGS Delta being credited as such.

Additionally, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will feature the line “Based on Metal Gear Solid 3” instead of “A Hideo Kojima Game.” For games that Kojima himself had not directed didn’t have the “A Hideo Kojima Game” tag. This was the case with Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and bothDigital Graphic Novels for MGS and MGS2, of which Okamura was the director.

While the developers couldn’t offer a release date for MGS Delta yet, they confirmed that the game is already playable from beginning to end. Similarly, while the developers reiterated that they are working on a Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, they couldn’t offer details on the titles that will be included or when it will release.

Regarding the recent overseas release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for PC on GoG, Oishi said that the release was always intended for North America, and the developers hope they can release the title for Japanese audiences. However, Oishi insisted that they have no news about it at the moment.

The first Metal Gear Production Hotline appeared on March 2024 and it offered hints towards the release of a possible Volume 2 of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and there will be a playable demo at TGS 2024.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Collector’s Edition Has Terrarium

Konami revealed the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Collector’s Edition, and it actually allows someone to bring Snake home in a small terrarium. Pre-orders opened on June 10, 2024.

The standard copies of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater are $69.99, while the Collector’s Edition is $199.99. There are five major bonuses, in addition to a PS5 or Xbox Series X copy of the game. To start, there are fox and Halo Jump patches. Both feature iconography from the game. People also get Snake’s ID card lanyard. It makes it look like he’s a scientist heading into Groznyj Grad Northeast. The aforementioned terrarium has him beside a tree, attempting to get his backpack down from a branch. Finally, there’s a metal case to hold someone’s copy of the game.

Here’s how all that looks:

Konami also noted there will be a Tactical Edition for people to potentially pick up. That includes digital bonuses and the game. There’s no price set for it yet.

Since Summer Game Fest 2024, Konami revealed a number of details about the game. For example, we learned more about the camera system. There was also a new gameplay trailer that let us see more of Snake.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2024.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Battle Damage and Camera System Detailed

After the reveal of a new gameplay trailer during the Xbox Game Showcase 2024, Konami offered new details about the Battle Damage system as well as the new camera modes available in the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

The new information appeared in the official website for the game, and it goes over how the Battle Damage system will now affect Naked Snake’s clothes with wear and tear as players advance in the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater. Similarly, any injuries Snake receives will leave different permanent scars and marks on his body once healed.

Regarding the camera system, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will allow players to use a new third-person view. This camera system is similar to the one introduced in the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D version of the game that appeared on the Nintendo 3DS. Additionally, an overhead view legacy style will be available as well. At the time of writing, it is unclear if you can swap between both camera systems on the go.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The original version of the game is available as part of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, which is readily available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
