Ahead of the debut of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in August 2025, Konami shared the opening movie that includes the new version of the theme song. The company also confirmed that Cynthia Harrell is again performing “Snake Eater,” as she returned to rerecord the classic track. 

While the song is familiar, the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater opening movie is new. Konami noted Kyle Cooper rearranged and did it. There will also be ways to interact with it, though Konami didn’t say exactly what will change as we watch and press buttons during it. 

The video begins with newspapers setting the stage for the Cold War story before showing Naked Snake in different situations from the game. Other major characters like Colonel Yevgeny Borisovitch Volgin, The Fear, The End, and The Boss also appear. Also, at the 1:30 mark you can actually see Naked Snake eating a snake that he cooked over a fire.

We’ve seen quite a few updates before this latest reveal. For example, Konami shared the Japanese collector’s edition back in April 2025. That includes a bust of Naked Snake you can display and a FOX Unit patch you can add to clothing. 

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 28, 2025. The original game appeared on the PS2, and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D appeared on the 3DS.

Konami has revealed the contents of the collector’s edition of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in Japan, and it features a bust statue of Naked Snake with a white snake wrapped around him. Known as the Pack, this limited edition is exclusive to the Konami Style online store. It is unknown if we could see the bust appear outside Japan as part of other special editions. In addition to the aforementioned bust, the Edition includes an original vinyl soundtrack, an exclusive SteelBook game case with the original Yoji Shinkawa art for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and a FOX Unit patch. All of this will be packaged in a special collector’s box with renders of the main cast on display. A special clear file folder is also included as an early purchase bonus.

The PS5 version of the Pack costs 38,500 yen (or about $266.41), and it also includes the White Tuxedo DLC costume. A version of the Pack that includes only the physical collectable goods without the game nor DLCs is also available, and it costs 29,920 yen (~$207.05).

Meanwhile, the overseas collector’s edition of Metal Gear Solid Delta was revealed on June 2024 and it includes a terrarium diorama of Snake trekking through the Tselinoyarsk jungle. Other Japanese store-specific limited editions of Metal Gear Solid Delta were revealed earlier on February 2025 and one includes a skateboard deck.

Konami has revealed the different Japanese limited edition and pre-order bonuses available for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which feature goods like a skateboard or a 3D crystal figure. Pre-orders for the game are now open and it will appear for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 28, 2025.

The official Japanese website for Metal Gear Solid Delta lists different stores and the unique goods that people can get when purchasing the game from each retailer. The aforementioned skateboard deck can only be obtained from the AmiAmi online store as part of the AmiAmi Pack that includes the game as well as a commuter case. This pack costs 19,060 yen (~$125.89.)

Meanwhile, the ebten store features a crystal 3D figure of Snake alongside other goods, like a key visual metal plate and a GA-KO duck mascot mug, as part of its Famitsu FX Pack 3D Crystal Set, which costs 19,030 yen (~$125.74.) Another elaborate edition is the Animate Limited Set, which costs 44,880 yen (~$296.53) and includes a FOX emblem pins and white flowers pin set, 14 acrylic stands, a fork and knife with a cutlery cloth bag, a full color T-shirt, an MGS Delta cardboard, and a coaster in the style of a vinyl record.

The release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has now been officially confirmed as part of Sony's February 2025 State of Play presentation. It is set for release on August 28, 2025.

The trailer showed off more iconic scenes in their new remade look. Most of the game's major bosses were shown off, with The Fear, The Fury and The End all making appearances. We also hear various quotes from The Boss and Eva. It also provided a glimpse at how Volgin, the antagonist of Metal Gear Solid 3, will appear in the remake.

The trailer ends by confirming the return of the Snake vs Monkey mode, where Solid Snake was recruited to catch a bunch of Ape Escape Pipo Monkeys. It's unknown if this mode will make an appearance in the PC or Xbox versions of the game.

The release date and trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta had previously leaked online due to an error on the PlayStation Store. The trailer shown in the State of Play presentation was identical to the one previously seen in the leak.

A leaked trailer for the Metal Gear Solid Delta remake lists a release date of August 28, 2025 for the title, as well as confirms the return of the Ape Escape collaboration. The trailer was spotted on the Playstation store and posted to Resetera by NateDog. [Thanks, Resetera!]

Metal Gear Solid Delta is remake of 2004's Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and it does not yet have an officially announced release date despite being reportedly playable "from beginning to end" back in September 2024. In addition to showing off some of the game's bosses, such as The Fury and The End, the trailer also confirmed the return of Ape Escape crossover content. This collaboration originally appeared in Playstation 2 copies of the original game as a series of small missions featuring the series' signature Apes.

Back in October, 2024, Producer Noriaki Okamura and Creative Producer Yuji Korekado discussed possibly remaking other games in the series in an interview with Famitsu. The month after, Konami also revealed that Jodi Benson (a.k.a. Suzetta Minet) would return to voice the character of Eva.

According to the leaked trailer, Metal Gear Solid Delta will release on August 28, 2025, for PS5. The game is also expected to come to PC and Xbox Series X.

During the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Konami unveiled the latest Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater story trailer. The remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater follows the first Virtuous Mission from the game's opening chapter and offers a better look at the updated take on the classic game. Additionally, GU (ジーユー), a Japanese clothing brand, teased a collaboration with Metal Gear Solid ahead of its Tokyo Game Show reveal trailer.

The trailer revisits the early section of the game, during which Snake is sent to retrieve Dr. Sokolov. During it, we get a better idea of the political tensions rampant throughout this installment and see familiar characters like Ocelot and Volgin set the stage for the broader Cold War narrative. This marks the first time we got to see see The Boss, Ocelot, and other key characters in high-resolution detail in this take on the game.

As for GU, you can see the official social post for its Metal Gear Solid shirts and clothing below. There are no actual images of any items. Instead, we see a familiar question mark alerting us that something is up.

In related news, It was confirmed in June 2024 that Hideo Kojima is not involved with the development of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. During the Metal Gear Production Hotline event, producer Noriaki Okamura revealed that while some of the original team are working on the remake, Kojima and other key staff have moved on to new projects.

Hideo Kojima is not involved with the development of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The confirmation came during a Q&A during the Metal Gear Production Hotline event streamed online.

The producer of Metal Gear Solid Delta, who is Noriaki Okamura, took questions from the audience about the remake, with the first being about Hideo Kojima and other original staff. While Okamura stated that he would love Kojima and other of the original team to be involved, they’ve all moved on to other projects. However, he did confirm that the entire original team for the original Snake Eater would be credited in the final game, in the same way the original teams were credited for the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection.

A later question confirmed that some of the original Snake Eater team were working on Metal Gear Solid Delta. These staff were not confirmed by name, however.

Okamura also revealed that Virtuos were working with Konami on the remake, due to their experience with Unreal Engine 5. Virtuos previously worked on Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Switch ports of games such as XCOM and Nier Automata. They also provided for Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel.

While he is not involved with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Hideo Kojima does have a few projects of his own in the works. He is currently working on a sequel to Death Stranding and a mysterious horror game named O.D. for Xbox.

Details about the voice acting for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater have been revealed, particularly in regard to how the radio calls will be handled to address new controls. These new details were revealed as part of the Metal Gear Production Hotline event that was streamed online by Konami and confirmed original voice acting will be reused.

Metal Gear Solid Delta producer Noriaki Okamura was asked about voice acting during the Q&A portion of the stream. He confirmed that the remake would make no story changes, meaning the original voice lines were being retained from the original Snake Eater. This will apply to both the Japanese and English voice acting.

The only voice acting changes that will be made in Metal Gear Solid Delta will be adjustments to lines related to controls in radio calls. Due to changes to how controls work in the remake, these lines will need to be changed to reflect those changes. Okamura confirmed that all the original actors will be brought in for both English and Japanese to re-record these lines. For actors who were unavailable to re-record their lines, new lines will be constructed using their original recordings, with full permission.

While the details of how the voice acting will be handled are new, we already knew the original cast would be returning. The gameplay trailer shown off at the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase featured many of these cast prominently, including David Hayter’s performance as Naked Snake.

In a now deleted tweet, GameStop potentially revealed the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, which could be on November 17, 2024. As the tweet, which included a trailer, is now gone, this seems to have been an accidental reveal on the part of the GameStop Twitter ’s . Update: GameStop later confirmed the release date was incorrect. [Thanks, Wario64!]

Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater will be a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It follows Naked Snake, a FOX operative, whose mission is to sabotage a Soviet nuclear superweapon during the Cold War. Most of the main gameplay mechanics from the original game remain, but there will be some new additions from the latter entries. For example, you’ll be able to walk while crouching. A new mechanic also focuses on recording the player’s individual journey in the game. Physical injuries Snake sustains will remain on him as scars for the rest of the playthrough.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater will come out on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. If the GameStop Tweet was accurate, then the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater will be November 17, 2024.
