Capcom has launched a new Cap Kuji Online lottery featuring merchandise from the Mega Man Star Force series. This lottery will let people get items themed after the franchise originally known in Japan as Ryusei no Rockman or Shooting Star Rockman.

The primary highlighted item in this lottery is a plush that will let the owner literally set Omega-Xis on their arm. The plush, which is based on the appearances in the first two entries, will have an approximate length of 35 cm (~13.78 inches). The lottery can also reward other items, ranging from hanging tapestries of the series' main characters to square badges featuring the key art from all seven game package versions.

Here is the full prize lineup from the lottery:

• S Prize: War-Rock (a.k.a. Omega-Xis) equipable plush
• A Prize: Hanging tapestry (5 designs)
• B Prize: Desk mat (2 designs)
• C Prize: Character acrylic stand (7 designs)
• D Prize: Motel keychain (7 designs)
• E Prize: Square badge (7 designs)

A ticket for this lottery costs 880 yen, but if people order ten of them at once, one of them will be discounted for free. Capcom will also offer a flat shipping rate of 660 yen for up to 20 prize items.

As of early 2025, Star Force is one of the last two Mega Man sub-series yet to receive a Legacy Collection for ongoing platforms besides Mega Man Legends. The Star Force series consists of three entries with further derivative versions released for Nintendo DS in the late 2000s. Capcom has so far released Legacy Collections for the classic Mega Man series, Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero bundled with ZX and ZX Advent, and the Battle Network series.

Applications for the Mega Man Star Force Cap Kuji Online lottery are available until May 9, 2025. Capcom will deliver the prizes between late August 2025 and early September 2025.

A new supposed concept art matching character designer Shinsuke Komaki’s artstyle for a cancelled Mega Man Star Force 4, as well as some story details, have surfaced online. The source for the leak is an individual by the name of The Shadow, who previously leaked details of Mega Man 9 back in 2008. [Thanks, Rockman Corner!]   According to the source, Mega Man Star Force 4 was in production 10 years ago, during the height of Mega Man fatigue. Coupled with poor sales of of Star Force 3 and Operation Shooting Star, Capcom cancelled game development midway.   The character in the picture is an older, ‘more hardened’ Geo Stellar, alongside a new character named Kazuma, said to be a hacker who is Lan Hikari’s descendant. Not every Capcom game gets a soundtrack packed in an energy tank, but Capcom has been making special game soundtrack CDs for fans. The Capcom Special Selection project led to Ghost Trick, Darkstalkers, and even Cyberbots mini-soundtrack CDs.

Mega Man Star Force and Mega Man Zero are the next two series to the collection. Each game will get its own mini soundtrack CD and a 32 page booklet, which will be sold through Capcom’s online store for 2,000 yen. Fans can pre-order these CDs beginning on June 25. Each preorder includes an original postcard as a bonus.

Capcom created this side story specifically for Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star. Other plot lines from the GBA game like Lan’s oven battle with Mr. Match’s navi and his run ins with World Three meetings are the same.

Somehow, Mega Man EXE and Mega Man Star Force learn to team up for a special move, the Double Rockman program advance.

Even with these additions Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star appears to be an expanded port instead of a full remake. The game has the same story as Mega Man Battle Network, uses the same battle system, and reuses most of the sprites.

Capcom's "data action RPG" will have extra content not found in the original game. The concept art suggests Mega Man EXE and Mega Man Star Force will team up, but there's a 200 year gap between their stories. We'll have to wait for more information to Capcom to find out how that's going to work.

Looks like Capcom is gearing up for their yearly portable Mega Man game, but the project announced at the World Hobby Fair seems bigger than a standard sequel.

Capcom announced Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star, which might be localized into something like Mega Man Battle Network: Operation Star Force. Details about the game are scarce, but its reported to be a Nintendo DS game.

One Japanese blog tosses out the idea that Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star could be a remake of Mega Man Battle Network with Mega Man Star Force style controls. Ah, the title's name would make more sense that way and that would solve story problems too. Mega Man Battle Network takes place in 20XX while Mega Man Star Force is set over 200 years in the future in 22XX.
