Wizet and Nexon announced that, in honor of the 20th anniversary of MapleStory, the global version of the game will get a Classic World that recreates the original experience from back when the game first debuted. Miyoung Oh, known in the community as Nemi, will return to be the lead game designer for this experience. More details about it, including when it will launch, will come later in the second half of 2025. 

Nemi spoke during the MapleStory Classic World reveal. She also appeared during the first gameplay reveal for this new element. She mentioned that when it debuted, she “was in charge of deg almost all of its early content.” She also noted that this new experience is designed to incorporate “the nostalgic feel of early MapleStory.” She followed that by showing a few very brief gameplay clips of it.

Apparently, it will also be fully integrated into the global version of the game. Nemi compared it to the Heroic and Interactive World options already available. We can make new characters to explore it. However, while it will pull back and be heavily inspired and recreating the original version of the game, the team will include some of the quality of life gameplay features from the current incarnation.

Nexon announced collaboration event with the Demon Slayer anime will appear in the 2D side-scrolling MMORPG MapleStory on September 19, 2024. New information about the collaboration will appear ahead of the event on a livestream that will be held on September 16, 2024.

The new collaboration will be reportedly the biggest event for MapleStory. The livestream will offer new details, including a glimpse at the new limited collaboration class “Tanjiro,” named after the Demon Slayer protagonist. Additionally, Japanese online streamer Clutch_Fi will be featured as a guest during the livestream.

Furthermore, audience participation sections and exclusive giveaways will also appear during the broadcast. The livestream will be available from the MapleStory official YouTube channel. However, it will only be available in Japanese. Therea re 9 Demon Slayer characters featured in the MapleStory event, and they include Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, Kanao Tsuyuri, Giyu Tomioka, Shinobu Kocho, Kyojuro Rengoku, and Tengen Uzui.

As a reminder, MapleStory celebrated its 20th anniversary on December 2023. Nexon offered details about the anniversary celebration events, which included new merchandise, social media campaigns, and a collaboration with the KonoSuba anime series.

MapleStory is readily available for PCs, and the Demon Slayer anime collaboration will appear on September 19, 2024.

Nexon is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its MMORPG MapleStory’s Japanese launch in December 2023 with an anime collaboration, live concert, limited-time shops, and merchandise. In addition, a 20th anniversary website opened to introduce the details of each project.

Below is a list of all of the MapleStory 20th anniversary events that have been announced:

• 20th Anniversary Orchestral Concert
• KonoSuba Season 3 Anime Collaboration Event
• Limited-time Online Store MapleStory THE SHOP
• Maple Island 20th Anniversary In-game Event

The orchestral concert will be held on December 2, 2023 in Japan. Various songs from MapleStory soundtrack will be performed live. As for the SUPER MAPLE PARTY offline event, details will be announced at a later date. It will take place on December 3, 2023 in Shibuya, Japan.

You can check out the full list of limited merchandise and the prices on the MapleStory THE SHOP online store. Some highlights from the lineup include stickers, keychains, a computer mouse and keyboard, a desk mat, and mugs that all feature mascots from the game. The shop is open from September 8 to the end of February 2024.

December 3, 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the Japanese release of Nexon’s MapleStory. It is available to and play on PCs.

Earlier in 2022, Blackpink member Jisoo ended up named ambassador for the game MapleStory. Now, the whole group is getting involved in the game. Nexon confirmed the singers will be coming to the game. Only an initial teaser video and website are available so far.

Here’s the full Blackpink MapleStory teaser. It features Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose working with developers and designers on characters and elements of the collaboration. It suggests that everyone is familiar with the game and played it before. Jisoo also mentioned she owned “all those floral crowns.” English subtitles are available if closed captions are turned on.

The official site doesn’t offer any additional details about what could come. However, it did note a schedule for additional videos. The teaser is available immediately. On December 8, 2022, a first episode for the Blackpink MapleStory event will appear. The second episode will show up on December 13, 2022.

Blackpink’s appeared in games before, and not just their songs in rhythm games like the Taiko no Tatsujin arcade version or Just Dance. The group held an in-game concert in PUBG earlier in 2022. In 2021, cosmetics connected to the singers also showed up in the battle royale.

A MapleStory BTS crossover is on the way. Nexon announced that both MapleStory and MapleStory M will have some sort of collaborative event involving the music group in the near future. Details about what it will entail haven’t been announced yet. At the moment, there are only teasers. (Given the nature of the game and past events, we could end up seeing cosmetic items and the group’s music in-game.)

As part of the lead-up to the event though, a series of MapleStory BTS videos are rolling out. The first one is available. On November 25, 2020, December 2, 2020, and December 9, 2020, three additional segments will appear starring the singers and going over the game. (They will all be available on the event site.)

This is the second recent BTS game appearance announced. Back on November 12, 2020, Beat Saber ended up getting a BTS Music Pack. For $15, people could 12 songs to their in-game library. (The songs are also available on their own for $1.99 each, in the event someone would only want “Dynamite,” as an example.)

MapleStory is available worldwide for PCs. You can also find MapleStory M worldwide on Android and Apple iOS devices. The next MapleStory BTS video will appear on November 25, 2020.

MapleStory has a crossover with Attack on Titan that brings Titans from the anime series into MapleStory's events. A portal in the MapleStory world lets characters level 30 and above into the world of Attack on Titan.

Players will the Cadet Corps and fight alongside Eren, Mikasa, and Annie. Players will be able to acquire Attack on Titan hats, accessories, and even their own omni-directional mobility gear. Decorative items will be sold in the cash shop. Entry into Attack on Titan events like fighting the Colossal Titan on the top of Wall Rose and other mini-games cost coins.

Nexon’s US version of MapleStory is seeing Sword Art Online characters and monsters invade its world.

Players can take part in a special dungeon from now till October the 14th where you’ll transform into either Kirito, Asuna or Leafa. Each will come with their own special skills and abilities to help overcome challenges, which were boss monsters in Sword Art Online’s VRMMO of Aincrad.

The dungeon is five floors long, and if you’re able to hunt down that elusive Ragout Rabbit, Asuna will cook it for you you’ll be able to regain health and mana while dungoneering. Once at the end, you’ll face off randomly against either The Gleam Eyes, The Skull Reaper or The Fatal Scythe.

While you can only do the dungeon once a day, you can also buy more SAO coins to re-access the dungeon. There’s a point to this beyond just picking up all the items that will come out of random boxes and special boss familiars after winning though; Each server will see 15 top players get special permanent duration titles for clearing the dungeons the most times, including the almighty title of Beater and its attendant benefits.

With virtual idol and starlet Hatsune Miku being, well, virtual, is it any surprise she’s holding a concert as a crossover tieup in Nexon’s Korean MapleStory?

The singer is part of a collab that will last from now till the 24th of September. As part of the collab, one of the events players can take part in is an Audition-style dance rhythm game. Here, up to five players can jive along with Miku by following the dance patterns with the keyboard.

At the same time, players can also help collect the goods meant for the concert which have been stolen by MapleStory monsters. For the “fans” who’ve gathered her items and helped make the concert a success, Fever Time will also be unleashed. Man, look at those poor security guards.

Nexon’s online PC game MapleStory is getting an in-game spin-off, in the form of MapleStory Friend’s Story: First Spin-Off. It’s found within the main game itself.  You can have a look at its anime trailer above.

The update places the NPC characters from within the MapleStory universe within an alternate world—a school fantasy life, to be precise. You’ll be able to zone into this new spin-off area and complete quests in the school setting.

There are “modern day” fixtures in this world of course, including buses, a proper school level, and naturally school uniforms. You’ll get your quests via mobile phone too, so it seems.

MapleStory turns ten this year and Nexon is rolling out the red carpet their international hit with a festival in South Korea.

The MapleStory 1st Festival will have live performances by Sistar and Girl's Day (pictured). Spiral Cats, the Korean cosplay team that did the Sarah Kerrigan cosplay for Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm, will also be at the event.

Of course, there are limited edition items too like the 10th Anniversary Black Buckle and the 10th Anniversary White Buckle, but these attack boosting items are limited gifts.

If you're in South Korea, the MapleStory 1st Festival takes place on May 19 at COEX Hall D.

Synergy alert! Popular MMORPG MapleStory is going to be receiving special ingame items such as costumes, weapons and character-specific items from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, as part of a special tie-in.

One example of these trinkets is treasures belonging to the Armstrong family. Gashapon vending machines and point shops within the game will be two places where players can grab these items. A special coupon bundled with the ninth Blu-ray and DVD release of the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime will allow you to unlock even more.

The campaign will kick off on March 31st, with a second phase scheduled for April 26th - May 26th.
