GungHo announced the release date for Lunar Remastered Collection, the compilation of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete for the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will launch on April 18, 2025. People will be able to get it physically and digitally.

Depending on which version you get, the price will be different. All digital copies will be $49.99 (€49.99), regardless of platform. A physical copy costs $5 more, bringing the cost up to $54.99. GungHo noted Amazon will be the only place to get it in the US and Canada. The company didn’t note if there will be any limitations on platforms, though it did note that only Switch and PS4 versions will be available at Clear River Games in Europe for €54.99. Regardless of region, the retail copy covers will feature reversible art.

This is one of many rereleases of the two games. The original Lunar: The Silver Star appeared on the Sega CD first. There were then a number of remakes like Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete for the Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and PC. That was followed by the GBA remake Lunar Legend and PSP one Lunar: Silver Star Harmony

There were fewer remakes of Lunar: Eternal Blue. After the Sega CD release, a Sega Saturn and PlayStation version called Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete debuted.

The Lunar Remastered Collection release date is April 18, 2025. People can find it on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with Switch and PS4 physical copies confirmed.

Game Arts have put out a survey asking participants if they would be interested in PC ports of their games. The survey mentions franchises such as Grandia, Lunar, Project Sylpheed, and more, and you can take it here.   Some of the questions the survey asks include:

  • Which PC digital distribution platforms do you use to buy games?
  • Which genre interests you the most?
  • Which Game Arts game interests you most for a PC port?
  • What features do you find the most important for a PC port?

Given how specific some of these questions are, don’t be surprised if we begin to see Game Arts porting their games to PC in the months ahead. They certainly wouldn’t be the first Japanese publisher to see the value in expanding to PC of late.

One of our enterprising readers, Olivia, recently got in touch with Game Arts to let them know that she enjoyed their remake of Lunar: Silver Star Harmony on the PSP, and the release of the first Lunar novel on Amazon’s Kindle.

Along with her message, she also attempted to inquire about a PSP remake of Lunar: Eternal Blue and whether or not there would be more Lunar novel releases in the future. Game Arts sent the following reply her way:

Thank you very much for your email about our "Lunar".

We appreciate your interest in and selecting our products, and we are very happy that you are satisfied with our "Lunar".

At the moment, we have no plan to release "Lunar Eternal Blue" for PSP unfortunately. We will release the rest of the Lunar novels in English, but the date of release has not yet been fixed.

We hope you keep on enjoying "Lunar" series.

Sincerely yours,

Game Arts

So, the good news is, the rest of the Lunar novels are definitely coming  over in English. As for a remake of Eternal Blue, this is one of those subjects that both Game Arts and Xseed (as Silver Star Harmony’s U.S. publisher) get asked about a lot.

In the past, they’ve both said that they acknowledge the interest in a remake of Eternal Blue, so we wouldn’t take “no plan to release Eternal Blue for PSP” as an outright “no” just yet. Perhaps Game Arts will consider the project for another platform.

A deep bow to Olivia for the stellar investigation work!

Licensing complications mean that Lunar 2 likely won't hit the PlayStation Network in its current form. However, Xseed have ed the demand for a potential remake on to developer Game Arts.

Hoping that Xseed will publish Lunar 2: Eternal Blue on the PlayStation Network, since they published Game Arts’s remake of Lunar: Silver Star Harmony on the PSP? Try not to get your hopes up, since Lunar 2 isn’t likely to make it to PSN in its original form.

Working Designs, a now-defunct localization publisher founded by Victor Ireland (who now runs Gaijinworks), originally published Lunar 2 on the PlayStation. Since Working Designs as a company no longer exists, the licensing rights to the game are going to be hard to sort out.

Xseed commented thusly on the matter on their Facebook page when one of their fans asked about Lunar 2:

“Lunar: Silver Star Harmony is on PSN, but only playable on a PSP (though of course we wish there was a way people without a PSP could play it on their PS3). Lunar 2 that was published on PSone likely will never be posted on PSN in its original form, but we’ve ed along the great fan to Game Arts about wanting a remake so we just have to wait and see what their final decision is.”

Xseed also have no plans to publish Metal Max 3 on the Nintendo DS at the moment either, in case you were wondering. They confirmed this on their Facebook as well.
