NetEase has announced a batch of new outfits that will arrive in Identity V, including the return of the Junji Ito skins and the debut of the Little Nightmares collaboration costumes. You’ll be able to get Six’s outfit from the shop and Mono’s outfit as an event reward.

For the Little Nightmares collaboration in Identity V, only two outfits will be available. The Six costume will be for the “Little Girl” Survivor and the Mono costume will be for the Axe Boy Hunter. Six was the main playable protagonist in the first game, while Mono was the playable protagonist in the second. Because Identity V does not often re-run collaboration costumes, it is advisable to purchase the Little Nightmares costumes if you want them while they’re available.

While this is a new collaboration event, NetEase has also announced the return of the Junji Ito collection. The Souichi, Intersection Bishounen, and Kawakami Tomie outfits for Lucky Guy, Wu Chang, and Dream Witch, respectively, will return on April 3, 2024. The B-Duck collaboration featuring skins for Mercenary and Bonbon will return on May 16, 2024. NetEase has also announced collaboration skins with the China Academy of Art and Lawson.

Identity V is readily available on the Windows PC and mobile devices. Little Nightmares is available for the PS4, Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. The sequel, Little Nightmares II, is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.

PS Plus August 2022 games

"Ichiban" might mean "first" in Japanese, but he's coming to PlayStation fans' libraries in the "eighth" month. Sony is leading the PS Plus August 2022 games with Yakuza: Like A Dragon. The strategy RPG is part of PlayStation game offering for the month*. Alongside it are Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, and Little Nightmares.

*The selection reflects the North American PSN. Other regions may have different offerings.

All three PS Plus August 2022 games are available to all PS Plus subscribers, from the basic Essential tier up through . They'll go up for on August 2, 2022.

Also known as Yakuza 7, Yakuza: Like A Dragon begins a new saga in the Yakuza series. Ichiban Kasuga is a low-ranking gangster thug, fresh out of prison after serving 18 years for a crime he didn't commit. Players will see him uncover the truth behind the betrayal as they rise to power. Both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game are available.

Also added to the PS Plus August 2022 slate is the remake of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2. Arguably the most iconic skateboarding games of all time, THPS 1 and first appeared on the PlayStation 1. Now they've been remastered for current platforms, including most of the original soundtrack and roster. Both PS4 and PS5 versions are available.

Horror-themed PS4 adventure game Little Nightmares rounds out the  selection. Players control a character named Six and help them escape The Maw, a vast vessel inhabited by corrupted souls.

The PS Plus August 2022 games become available on August 2, 2022. The current July 2022 PS Plus games are still available to add to the library. July's offerings include Crash Bandicoot 4, The Man of Medan, and Arcadegeddon.

The puzzle-platformer horror adventure game Little Nightmares by Tarsier Studios has sured a total of one million copies sold worldwide since its launch in April 2017, Bandai Namco announced.

Little Nightmares features a hungry little girl named Six who is trapped inside the Maw, a mysterious vessel that caters to the whims of sick and powerful creatures. The game known for its dark atmosphere and has been praised for its story, sound design and unique art style.

Here’s a quote from Tarsier Studios CEO, Andreas Johnsson:

“We’re very proud that our first original game sold so well, it’s well beyond what we ever expected. Little Nightmares is after all part of an indie game landscape, and the fact that one million players have played our game is wonderful. This achievement is a milestone for both Tarsier Studios and Little Nightmares. To have created an original game that becomes as successful is proof that the new direction for the studio was the right choice, and that feels great.”

Little Nightmares first released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC back in April 2017, followed by a more recent release on the Nintendo Switch in May 2018.

20180406_023851

Last week, Japan had a big release with Type-Moon’s high-speed Servant action game Fate/Extella Link for PS4 and PS Vita, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Little Nightmares, and Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of June 4 through June 10, 2018.

The #1 spot of the week goes to Fate/Extella Link with 78,647 units sold on the PS4, and it also got the #2 spot for its PS Vita version which sold 38,156 units combining for a total of 116,803 units between the two. Its previous entry, Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star sold 73,019 units on PS4 and 67,356 (+18,439 with the Velvet Box Edition)units on PS Vita for a total of 140,375 (or 158,814 with all versions). While Fate/Extella Link didn’t match up to its predecessor, it’s a solid follow-up for a second title and it’s understandable that it sold much less on the PS Vita in 2018 compared to its predecessor’s launch in November 2016. The overall sell-through rate dropped from the previous 82.47% to 72.73%, which is still pretty solid.

At #3 we have Splatoon 2 nice and cozy in a familiar spot with 13,423 units sold on Switch. Last week’s top two titles followed with Dark Souls: Remastered at #4 with 12,610 units sold on PS4 and Detroit: Become Human at #5 with 10,935 units sold on PS4.

As for other new titles in the week, Life is Strange: Before the Storm charted at #8 with 8,091 units sold on PS4. Little Nightmares: Deluxe Edition debuted at #10 on Switch with 7,776 units sold and #15 on PS4 with 5,041 units sold for a combined total of 12,817 between the two. We don’t often see a Switch version of a game outsell its PS4 counterpart by this much, but we’ll likely be seeing more instances in the near future with plenty of third party titles headed its way.

Lastly, we have Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido at #13 with 5,235 units sold on Nintendo Switch and at #20 with 2,392 units sold on Nintendo 3DS, combining for a total of 7,627 between Switch and 3DS.

In hardware sales, we saw an increase in all PlayStation consoles. The PS4 sold 20,174 units and the PS4 Pro sold 6,497 to put it at 26,671 units in combined sales. The Nintendo Switch was again the best-selling hardware with a big 40,834 units sold in the week. Going by Media Create’s numbers, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 4,346,549 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.

The top-20 chart of the week is as follows:

With Little Nightmares releasing next month, Siliconera tried out a demo for the game at PAX East, learning what it was like to be a frightened child running from some of the bizarre monstrosities and hostile cooking staff that would haunt the game’s eerie world.

Set in the viewpoint of a scared kid, Little Nightmares immediately takes the player to a world that is uncomfortable and distorted. Objects tower above the young character, and all seem twisted and dark in some way. The player will need to get over any anxiety this surreal place creates quickly, though, as they’ll need to manipulate objects in the environment to solve puzzles. A giant-sized suitcase may be just what the player needs to progress.

It wasn’t long before the player would come across a dough-faced chef in a large kitchen. This creature was strange to look at, having misshapen features that would put the player on edge. Rightfully, as once this creature notices the player’s tiny, yellow coat wearing character, it will take off after them. While the developers are hesitant to call this a horror game, the moment that creature turns on the player is a frightening one.

Players are able to crouch under objects to hide, and if they come at those objects while running, they will slide underneath them. Hiding in Little Nightmares doesn’t give you a permanent safe spot like many horror games, though, as the creatures are persistent. It will look under tables or scan objects carefully, quickly honing in on the player who stands still. To survive, players will need to be on the move, never relying on any one spot for long.

There were many hiding spots and corners to use in the kitchen, giving a careful player various options to get away, as well as provide routes under objects to steadily cross the room. It did force a short chase at the end of the room, though, offering no covering over an area the player would be just able to sprint through. If they weren’t quick enough, they would find the screen turning black before they could find out what the chef intended to do with that knife now.

Should the player make it past that, they could close the door and lock it behind them. The chef banged on the door, the barrier bulging in a way that hinted it wouldn’t hold him for long, as the game presented a new puzzle. This one used piles of meat in a way that fit the room, but also gave a sense of discomfort in what the player was grinding up. If the chef is willing to kill the player’s character, what was the player, in turn, pushing into that sausage grinder?

Upon completion of this puzzle, the player would enter an actual sea of tiny pairs of shoes. This final, unsettling scene was capped off with something moving around within the discarded footwear, making its way toward the player to end the demo with a fearful, yet hopeless, chase.

Little Nightmares’ developers prefer to call the game a thriller, but fearful elements are definitely there, hinting at what gruesome things the chef intends for you through the shoes and the relentless chase. The game already shows a great aptitude to create tension, both through the narrative and in being hunted by a clever enemy. It promises to bring its players a frightening experience upon its release soon.

Little Nightmares

Bandai Namco announced that their title, Little Nightmares, the Tarsier Studios-developed game that will make you face childhood fears, is releasing in Spring 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Here’s a look at its newest trailer and details from Gamescom 2016.

About Little Nightmares:

The Maw arrives every year. Always at the same time, but never in the same place, it creeps and crawls and buries its claws deep beneath the glistening water. And there it sits in vast silence. Waiting.

Soon after, they start to arrive. The guests. The monstrous, sweating, hungry guests. All seams bursting, bodies bulging, eyes dead with boredom. They shuffle up the gangway and into the mouth of The Maw. And then they are no more.

For none of those that enter have ever returned to tell the tale. At least, not yet…

Immerse yourself in Little Nightmares, a dark whimsical tale that will confront you with your childhood fears as you help Six escape The Maw—a vast, mysterious vessel inhabited by corrupted souls looking for their next meal.

Features

  • Embark on a Grim Adventure: Confront your childhood fears in this darkly whimsical tale, set in an immersive world of great sensibility, interactive storytelling, and outstanding sound design. Discover the foul secrets of The Maw and survive the attentions of its monstrous residents as you bid to help Six escape to the world outside.

  • Visit the Most Intriguing Dollhouse: Explore a disturbingly charming dollhouse, a place that is both prison and playground. Peek into Six’s world, part dream, part nightmare, where every step feels like a leap, and every shadow a vast darkness. Start from the bottom of The Hull and look for a way to The Above.

  • Rekindle Your Childlike Joys: Each room is a cell, each resident a threat, and both are puzzles to untangle. Reconnect with your inner child, unleash your imagination, and stay out of harm’s way. Master Six’s every movement in a super-sized world where even the smallest doubt can lead to a fatal misstep.

Little Nightmares releases in Spring 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
