Kuro Games announced that fully integrated Ray Tracing is coming to Wuthering Waves alongside the version 2.1 update on February 13, 2025. The reveal came during the 2.1 Preview Special Broadcast, which included a comparison video reveal that shows the graphical improvements on the game's Youtube channel.

Currently, the Ray Tracing options require at least a Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card in order to run, however Kuro Games said the team is "committed to ongoing optimization" and hopes to make the feature available to those with other graphics cards too. Alongside the new graphics options, Version 2.1 is also set to bring new characters, zones, story, and even a fishing minigame to Wuthering Waves. The game is also set to come to Mac OS devices in late March 2025, after arriving on PS5 this January.

The previous version 2.0 update released earlier in 2025 after being previewed in its own livestream back in December 2024. That same update also brought the game to Playstation 5 consoles.

The Wuthering Waves Version 2.0 Special Broadcast now has an official air date. The broadcast will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch on at 3am PT/6am ET December 21, 2024.

The Special Broadcast will provide a deep dive into what players can expect out of Wuthering Waves Version 2.0. This update will introduce the new region of Rinascita, and the Special Broadcast will likely show off some of the locations that can be found in this area. The Broadcast is also likely to contain information on the many new characters who will be ing the game as part of the update. These characters include Phoebe, Brant, Roccia, Zani and Carlotta, who have been previously revealed although their kits have yet to be announced.

Version 2.0 of Wuthering Waves will release on January 2, 2025. A PS5 version of the game has been confirmed to release on the same day. The Special Broadcast is likely to detail any crossplay features between the PS5 and other platforms.

Wuthering Waves is out now for PC and mobile devices. Version 2.0 and the PS5 version will both release on January 2, 2025.

Kuro Game announced the release date for the next Wuthering Waves patch, as well as revealed the characters debuting in 1.4. It will launch on November 14, 2024. When it does, Camellya and Lumi will Wuthering Waves as its new Resonators.

As expected from a new update, When the Night Knocks will bring with it a new addition to the story. However, as brought up in the preview and announcement, there will be more to it than that. After the 1.4 release date arrives, Wuthering Waves will also get a Somnium Labyrinth event, five-star Camellya Resonator banner, five-star Red Spring sword weapon banner, Phantom: Inferno Rider Echo, and Forking Path Among the Stars Companion Story. Some of the other events coming include a Gifts of Fleeting Dreams campaign, Depths of Illusive Realm Phantasm Amass, Beyond the Waves Exploration Event, Tactical Simulacra II Combat Event, Ragunna Sales Blitz Pioneer Association Event, and Pincer Maneuver Warriors Combat Event.

As for Lumi, you’ll need to wait to see her in Wuthering Waves. She’s part of phase 2 of 1.4. She’s only a four-star unit, so she’ll be a part of the returning Yinlin rerun banner in the second half.

Kuro Game announced it will release a figure of the Wuthering Waves Shorekeeper. She will debut in August 2025, and the developer already confirmed she will launch worldwide for about $65. However, AmiAmi is the only storefront currently showing her and listing the correct price for the item. 

Shorekeeper first debuted in Wuthering Waves as a playable Resonator in September 2024. She’s a five-star Spectro character who uses a Rectifier to attack. In-battle, she’s known for her ability to heal with both Chaos Theory and End Loop, and  there is a butterfly motif to her due to the Dim Star Butterflies she can summon with her skill. This is also shown in her figure, as a single butterfly is perched on her figure.

The figure of her is a 1/7th scale one. It stands at almost 11 inches tall (278mm). At select stores, such as AmiAmi, someone also gets an acrylic keychain of the the character with their purchase.

She isn’t the only Wuthering Waves figure to appear. There’s one of Jiyan promised as well. Kuro is also working on other items based on the game. There will be pins, postcards, and different kinds of acrylic stands released over the coming weeks and months.

Kuro Game announced full details about the Wuthering Waves By Moon’s Grace event, detailing all of the rewards people will get in addition to the previously revealed Xiangli Yao. Among them will be 1,200 Astrite, which is just under the 1,600 you’d need to purchase a 10-pull on the gacha. 

To take part in Wuthering Waves By Moon’s Grace, you need to be caught up with the story. This means you must have your Union Level at a minimum of 17. It is possible to start it if you finished Chapter 1, Act 3, but Kuro Game recommended also getting through up to Act 7 for story purposes. 

Once you unlock the event, your goal is to get funds for Moonlit Fair Stalls. Some of the ones featured in the announcement are Hsin’s Fortuity, Riddle Twiddle, and Thus Says the Moon. Once you have them built, you can use Preparation Credits and Moments with characters from the Festival Journal to fulfill Wishes. Some of the confirmed Festival Journal Moments involve Chixia, Sanhua, and Zhezhi. You can then set those people for Route Planning and achieving those Wishes. This nets you Wish Tags for companions.

As for the Wuthering Waves By Moon’s Grace event rewards, here are the things you can get:

Kuro Game announced on social media that every Wuthering Waves player can get the five-star Resonator Xiangli Yao for free, provided they participate in a new event. He’ll be able to earn starting on September 7, 2024. 

Here’s how the promotion will work. The By Moon’s Grace event will appear after the Wuthering Waves update, and if we play through it we earn the Resonator Xiangli Yao as a bonus. Like similar events in other gacha games, you get Popularity. When you hit a certain tier, which Kuro didn’t disclose yet, you get to claim the character.

In addition to being free, people will be able to pull for Xiangli Yao on one of the new banners in Wuthering Waves 1.2. He’s an Electro element character who uses Gauntlets to attack enemies. His reveal also noted he’s an investigator at Huaxu Academy. It seems he'll be a part of the second banner in the update. The other new five-star this update will be Zhezhi.

The latest trailer for the 1.2 update showed off some Xiangli Yao gameplay. If you skip ahead to the 1:20 mark, you can see how he'll work in a fight.

The release date for the Wuthering Waves 1.2 update is upon us. Kuro Game announced on social media that it will launch on August 15, 2024. 

The title for the next update is In the Turquoise Moonglow. As usual, more story missions and characters will appear. This will also mark the appearance of a festival. The new confirmed units are Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao, as drip marketing on social media showcased both of them in July 2024. The Depths of Illusive Realm store’s stock will be updated. 120 FPS will be available for PCs who can handle that. As a quality of life update, there will be a Hoverdroid: Shooter ability in Utilities if you don’t have a ranged character for puzzles. 

Leading up to the update, there’s a new event to help prepare your Resonators. Chord Cleansing is going on until August 13, 2024. It’s a double drop event for Tacet Suppression. Each day, you can take advantage of it three times.

In the meantime, we also know about the next two Wuthering Waves characters for 1.3. Those will be the five-star Resonator The Shorekeeper and the four-star character Youhu.

The new Wuthering Waves trailer focuses on the Resonator Changli, and it shows the character playing a game of Weiqi (Go) with Jinhsi. This comes ahead of her playable debut on July 22, 2024.

In Wuthering Waves, Changli helped train Jinhsi and acts as her mentor. The new footage also showcases this element of their relationship. As the two play Weiqi together, Changli shares insights and advice that would help her student both in the game and in real-life battles. The footage then cuts to an actual altercation. Changli is sent incognito as a random, defenseless bureaucrat. However, the enemies soon learn their mistake and we get to see Changli in action.

Changli is going to be a five-star Resonator in Wuthering Waves, and she’ll be the focus character on the Vermillion's Ploy banner. She wields a sword when she fights, and she’ll deal Fusion damage to enemies. Her voice actress, who we heard in the latest trailer, is Ashleigh Haddad. (Chiwa Saito plays the character in Japanese.) The featured five-star weapon in the Weapon Convene banner starting on July 22, 2024 is Blazing Brilliance. This is her signature weapon, though other swords in the game may also work well for her.

Wuthering Waves is available for PCs and mobile devices. Though it isn’t on consoles yet, it will be at the PlayStation booth at ChinaJoy 2024.

Wuthering Waves developer Kuro Game detailed a new event coming to the game called Tactical Simulacra. The event is set to take place from July 20, 2024 until August 8, 2024, and it will award items like Astrite, class echoes, and tuners.

The event plays as a series of challenge battles, and it is available to those who have reached a Union level of 14. While the enemies in the event will receive enhancements and be stronger than usual, player teams will also be able to take advantage of effects like energy recovery on dodge or reduced enemy resistance. Doing well will result in more buffs becoming available, and achieving high scores will award us with useful items. These initially teased bonuses include 500 Astrite, the ever-valuable currency, as well as a level 1 and level 2 Malleable Elite Class Echoes and 150 tuners.

Developer Kuro Game recently teased two new characters for Wuthering Waves: Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao. Those will appear after the 1.2 update. The game is also set to appear at the Playstation booth of the 2024 ChinaJoy event.

The Tactical Simulacra event for Wuthering Waves is set to begin on July 20, 2024, while the game itself is readily available on PC and mobile devices.

Like HoYoVerse, Kuro Game teases new Wuthering Waves characters ahead of their release on social media, and it did that to show Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao ahead of 1.2. Both are expected to debut as the featured characters in the next version, which should appear in August 2024.

First, here’s the Zhezhi Wuthering Waves reveal. She’s going to be an artist, which will likely influence her moveset as a Resonator. No details about her weapon or element were shared. 

Meanwhile, Xiangli Yao seems like a character more accustomed to fighting in Wuthering Waves, as he’s described as the Principal Investigator for Huaxu Academy. However, this is because he’s also a researcher, which could involve heading into the field for explorations.

Before Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao Wuthering Waves as its newest characters, there’s still one more unit about to appear. Changli will the game on July 22, 2024. She’s a five-star Fusion character who wields a sword. She’s also tied to Jinhsi, whose banner is live now in-game. Jinhsi is also a five-star character. She wields a broadblade in the game. Her element is Spectro.

Wuthering Waves is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the new characters are expected in the 1.2 update.

The 1.1 Wuthering Waves banners are about to begin, and Kuro Game shared a bit more about Jinhsi and Ages of Harvest. She is the new five-star Resonator, while the weapon is the new five-star broadblade designed with her in mind.

Jinhsi is a Spectro element character in the Wuthering Waves 1.1 character banner, and she’s ed on it by the four-star units Danjin, Sanhua, and Yangyang. She played a part in the 1.0 story, and appears alongside the Sentinel Jue. A Resonator Showcase trailer for her showed a bit of her personality outside of a fight, then looked at how she performs in battle. It also shows how her dragonic Sentinel appears alongside her.

As for the four-stars, all three are sword s. Danjin is a Havoc type. Sanhua deals Glacio damage. Yangyang is a master of Aero attacks. 

With the 1.1 Wuthering Waves weapon banner, the Ages of Harvest broadsword is the only five-star appearing. It focuses on boosting someone’s attack and critical rate. The four-star Amity Accord gauntlet, Commando of Conviction sword, and Discord broadblade also will appear.

Earlier in June 2024, Kuro Game announced it would bump up the release of the Wuthering Waves Yinlin Resonator banner. Now that it is live in the game, there are new trailers highlighting the five-star character to explain why players may want to attempt to pull for her.

The video essentially shows Yinlin’s unique skillset. She’s a puppetmaster adept at going undercover. So during the course of her investigation, we see her masquerade as a street performer, an employee at a crooked company, and even a member of the group that is attempting to engage in illegal behavior. After that, we get to see her use her Zapstring to unleash electro damage to enemies.

There's also another brief trailer on social media highlighting her. It focuses more on her character design and general information.

She isn’t the only five-star character people can pull for on the gacha banners right now. Jiyan is also around. His banner ends before hers though, due to him being released at launch. So you only have until June 12, 2024 to attempt to add him to your roster.

Kuro Game released a new Wuthering Waves Jiyan video, and this one features voice actor Alex Jordan discussing the character. He refers to his “effortless, cool power” and also discussed his backstory.

The Jiyan video begins with Jordan explaining how he is a cool authority figure. As he does, gameplay footage of the character appears as well. After bringing up his opinion on the appearance, he mentions how Jiyan was a doctor before becoming the warrior he is. Jordan also says players should use him as their “main.” 

As a reminder, people can only get Jiyan in Wuthering Waves for a limited time, due to him being the first character on the temporary banner. He will only be available until June 12, 2024. However, gacha games like this tend to eventually begin rerunning past character banners. So odds are in a few months he’ll return for people to attempt to recruit again.

People won’t need to wait too long for the next limited. character, however. Kuro Game changed its schedule. As such, people can start pulling for the character Yinlin starting on June 6, 2024.

Wuthering Waves just launched and, well, there are a lot of comparisons to Genshin Impact! They’re similar sorts of games, after all. I’ve sampled a bit of it, as well as played HoYoVerse’s now famous title a ton. While in time Wuthering Waves could maybe be worth it, I feel like right now people’s time would be better spent going through Genshin Impact instead.

First of all, the whole gameplay element in Wuthering Waves is essentially identical to Genshin Impact. Granted, this isn’t exactly unique. Many other open-world types of titles feature the same sorts of exploration. I mean, Genshin Impact itself was accused of being a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild clone ahead of its launch due to some early footage and area examples. But the thing here is that I feel like Wuthering Waves doesn’t feel like it has anything at launch that we really haven’t seen in Genshin Impact, Tower of Fantasy, or other titles.

So… let’s give Wuthering Waves some time! Right now, we’re seeing a lot of similarities to games like Genshin Impact. But we also know that HoYoVerse encountered those same sorts of issues in launch areas. That then changed when we started to see later updates with regions like Inazuma, Sumeru, and Fontaine. So this could be a situation where Wuthering Waves needs time to come into its own as well.

Especially since, well, a big part of one of the things that would make you want to explore is a bit tainted. The localization for Wuthering Waves is terrible, as the translation means that so much of the text reads awkwardly. This doesn’t just apply to flavor or tutorial types of text from NPC. (For example, “Have you confirmed the inventory? What about the spare list? Sort out the consumables as soon as possible.”) But you also have major characters like Yangyang saying, “Practice is better than words.” Or we hear Taoqi say “And for your own safety, please be reluctant to leave city grounds without authorization.” One of the early positive impressions praising the fact we can skip text and the story isn’t a good thing! Given so much is voiced, odds are we won’t see the past parts fixed. But perhaps there’s hope for the future with fan ?

Meanwhile, Genshin Impact has such a fantastic localization. Yes, we may get an occasional spelling error in the written text. Sometimes there’ll be an awkward localization of a song that sounded way better in Chinese or Japanese. But the flavor and detail going into the work is so much better. It’s richer and feels more unique. Even the fact that, while we are dealing with a protagonist who is stranded and a mystery after an attack, we aren’t relying on the typical amnesiac protagonist helps enhance the experience.

Really, the only reason to consider playing Wuthering Waves over Genshin Impact is the character designs and what they can do in combat. It’s the one area where both games can stand up in unique ways. But then we also have to consider these are gacha games. The number of characters you get for free is few and far between. At launch, we don’t have many available in Wuthering Waves. I also know from experience that (sadly) power-creep is a thing in gacha games. So this is again a situation where someone should wait, perhaps at least until a few weeks or months after launch, until Wuthering Waves finds its footing and go with the more established Genshin Impact for now instead.

I suppose what I’m saying is Wuthering Waves might not be the right choice at this exact moment, and Genshin Impact could be instead the game to play. Down the road, this could blossom. It could become more unique. The localization could end up being better. There could be a larger selection of characters and balancing could happen. But for now, maybe wait and go with something more tried and true.

The latest showcase trailer for Wuthering Waves provided more details about Jiyan. It features details on how he will fight and hints at story elements surrounding him.

In the trailer, Jiyan is shown to wield two weapons in Wuthering Waves. The first of these is a blade, which he uses to cut through enemies and perform fast attacks. The second is a lance, which also summons a dragon to fight alongside him. This appears to be especially useful when fighting groups of enemies.

The trailer also featured some more details on Jiyan and his story. While we have previously learned that Jiyan is the leader of the Jinzhou Midnight Rangers, his trailer shows a troubled past within this role. After being taunted by another character, Geshu, about his failures as both a doctor and a general, Jiyan sees flashbacks of his troops. However, the trailer also suggests that he draws strength from the of his troops.

Jiyan is voiced by Alex Jordan in English, and developers Kuro Games had previously shared clips of him discussing the character. The latest voice actor showcase released by the developer focuses on the Rover avatar character, with both the male and female voice actors getting their own showcases.
