Kojima Productions announced that Hololive Vtuber Usada Pekora will appear as an NPC in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. She’ll be one of the Preppers that Sam Porter Bridges can visit and assist during the game. The developer also shared a brief teaser on social media, hinting at what she’ll look like in-game.

The Death Stranding 2 Usada Pekora clip is quite brief, and it does confirm the Hololive Vtuber character model of her original, default costume will appear as her hologram in-game. We first see Sam head to the bunker to make a delivery. As he leaves, we hear Pekora call out to him. He thanks her, and she replies in kind. The entire interaction uses the Japanese voice acting option for the game, so it is unknown if she'll speak in English or Japanese for the English version of the game.

The follow-up tweet only confirms that she is a Prepper NPC we’ll meet and assist. The developer didn’t talk about any other elements tied to her and her appearance. 

It isn’t entirely unexpected that Usada Pekora will appear in Death Stranding 2, as Hideo Kojima talked about the Hololive Vtuber and interacted with her before. First, he shared a post on social media with several screen captures of one of her stream in August 2023. Then in August 2024, she visited the Kojima Productions offices. We often end up seeing people he references online showing up in his projects as guests.

Sony and Kojima Productions announced that there will be a PS5 Dualsense controller based on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, but the limited edition design will only be sold directly through the PlayStation online storefront. These will appear on June 26, 2025, though we can pre-order the peripheral at 10am ET in the US and 10am local time in Europe on May 22, 2025. 

As this is a limited edition controller, Sony noted that it won’t be able to share exact quantities for each region. The company did share a price for it, however. It will cost $84.99/€84.99/£74.99 /¥12,480. Standard Dualsenses tend to cost around $79.99. This comes after price increases on the PS5 and some peripherals were already announced for multiple places worldwide. The announcement on the PlayStation Blog didn’t note if tariffs will affect the price in the US, since the product will be shipping in June 2025. 

Here’s a closer look at the Death Stranding 2 Dualsense PS5 controller. It largely looks like a standard, black version of the peripheral. However, the touchpad features a logo and design based on Drawbridge, the new organization found in this installment. There are also accents on the left and right grips based on technologies and designs found in the game.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will come to the PS5 on June 26, 2025, and the themed DualSense controller will be able to pre-order starting on May 22, 2025 ahead of its June 26, 2025 debut.

Kojima Productions revealed the release date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach alongside a new 10-minute trailer during a special held at SXSW 2025. The game will come out on the PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025.

The new Death Stranding 2 trailer showed various new characters, such as the mysterious soldier Neil, his lover Lucy, and the new president of the United Cities of America (or UCA,) as well as gameplay footage offering a look at new areas and environments. The story sections of the trailer revealed more details about what happened to characters such as Fragile and Lou after the events of the first game, so those going into the game trying to avoid too much information might want to be careful when watching.

Additionally, pre-orders for the game start on March 17, 2025. The video also showed the different editions available, including a physical collector's edition including a statue of the “Magellan Man,” a digital deluxe edition, and the pre-order bonuses of the regular edition.

The previous trailer for Death Stranding 2 appeared during the January 2024 State of Play and confirmed the subtitle for the game. Additionally, the game was featured during Tokyo Game Show 2024 and it confirmed the return of character Heartman and showed new footage of Tomorrow and Rainy.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will come out for the PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. The first game is available as Death Stranding Director’s Cut for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Director Hideo Kojima shared a small update on the development of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach via social media. While there is no firm release date for the title, he noted the game entered what he called "Crunch Time." He also stated mixing and recording started for the Japanese voiceovers.

In the update, Kojima discussed being tired due to development on Death Stranding 2. He cited that the team entered a strenuous period involving the aforementioned voice recording and mixing, along with other obligations such as attending interviews. While it's hard to judge anything concretely, these suggest that development is proceeding apace for the game's 2025 release window.

The director also took to social media to share some thoughts on the longevity of his own career, prompted by his purchase of a book on Film Director Ridley Scott. Kojima, a known cinephile, remarked that "Every day feels like I’m racing against the clock", and yet Scott is still active as a filmmaker at 87.

The game was originally announced at The Game Awards back in December, 2022, though actor Norman Reedus had hinted at its production earlier. Another trailer came in January, 2024, at a Sony State of Play presentation, revealing the game's full title would be Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.

Death Stranding 2 is in development and is expected to release in 2025 for the Playstation 5.

Until November 6, 2024, applicants can apply to Kojima Productions. Kojima Productions, led by Hideo Kojima is only looking to hire specific roles, as applications to the studio are not for general submission. The website, hosted by Famitsu, reveals that the company is looking to expand it's pool of artists and programmers to assist on game projects such as OD and Death Stranding 2. As it stands, applicants will be required to speak Japanese.

Concerning the specifics of each role Kojima Productions is looking for, and applicants they might be interested in hiring, the studio is looking for game programmers, systems programmers, animation programmers, A.I. programmers, and network programmers.

Artists will need to fall under the category of character artists, background artists, mecha and weapons artists, concept artists, and even facial animators. You can view the complete listing here.

Hololive Vtuber Usada Pekora recently visited the Kojima Productions studio offices, and Hideo Kojima shared a post on his Japanese social media . The tweet included a picture of himself and the model of the virtual YouTuber, both posing alongside the studio’s insignia Ludens statue.

In return to the post from Hideo Kojima, Usada Pekora thanked the developers at Kojima Productions for the opportunity to visit the studio and for the precious experience. In recent years, many celebrities and popular media figures have visited Kojima Productions. Among the many visitors, some of them have ended up as cameo appearances in the studio’s first title, Death Stranding.

With Usada Pekora’s recent visit to the studio, there’s a non-zero possibility that the Hololive Vtuber might appear as one such cameo in the sequel. In fact, this would not be the first time that Pekora appears as a cameo character in a game, as she voiced and appeared as a unique Killing Machine monster in Dragon Quest Treasures.

As a reminder, Kojima Productions is currently working on various titles including Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, a sequel to the 2019 game, the new horror game OD developed in collaboration with filmmaker Jordan Peele for Xbox consoles, and Physint, a new action espionage title published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In addition, Kojima Productions recently announced that the studio will have a presence at Tokyo Game Show 2024 on September 29 with a special discussion about the game Death Stranding 2.

Kotobukiya has announced that it will restock its model kit of the female version of Kojima Production's mascot character Ludens in December 2024. The company has also opened pre-orders for the new batch at 7,480 yen (~$47.75) apiece.

This restock will apply to the white-armored model kit that Kotobukiya originally revealed in 2019 and released in 2020. The company also produced a black-colored variant of the kit the year after. The non-scale model kit will have an overall height of around 17cm (~6.69 inches) when completed.

Kotobukiya will also bring back the kit's bonus parts, although they will still be exclusively available on the Kotobukiya Online Shop in Japan. This set will include a clear translucent hair part and three unpainted facial expression parts.

At the same time, Kotobukiya also revealed a 1/12 scale model kit of the Reverse Trike from Kojima Productions' Death Stranding. This one will be based on the version used by Sam Porter Bridges in the game's opening. The completed kit will also be compatible with Good Smile Company's figma of the character.

Pre-orders for the Reverse Trike model kit are immediately available in Japan via Kotobukiya Online Shop at 8,800 yen (~$56), with guaranteed stock if people place orders by June 4, 2024. The company will actually release the kit in September 2024.

Kotobukiya will release the restocked Kojima Productions Female Ludens model kit in December 2024 and the new Reverse Trike model kit from the Death Stranding opening in September 2024.

At the January 2024 State of Play, a Death Stranding 2 trailer appeared and featured tons of crazy stuff! Higgs is back with an electric guitar that he also uses to attack with electricity and slashes! There’s a metal ninja that makes BB sounds! Fragile’s got a second pair of hands around her neck! But there are other possibly neat or maybe important things you might have missed too.

I’m leading with this one, because it is the part that freaked me out the most. At the 8:13 mark of the Death Stranding 2 trailer, we get this scene of Fragile having a cigarette. After her extra pair of hands around her neck (which are also a thing I want to know more about) light it, she starts crying. This is something that happens when people like her and Sam ended up exposed to the Chiralium, and a response that comes when they’re near BTs. When I first watched the trailer, I thought it meant that there was a BT suddenly showing up at a peaceful moment and that was our hint something was wrong.

Instead, upon watching it a second time and looking closer, I noticed when she exhaled the smoke from the cigarette that she actually blew out BTs. Which also makes it seem like maybe something is wrong?!

At the 4:33 mark, we see one of Fragile’s new allies with a cat that has BT elements to it. The cat has wings, the same inky color, golden eyes, and is just weird! Like you may have caught the moment when the trailer aired, but not realized how inky and unusual it is. It seems like it is some sort of mix of both beings, and it gets me wondering what is going on with it and if we could see this with other characters.

Part of the Death Stranding 2 reveals involved a person who appears to be a puppet. The character is introduced at the 2:53 mark, and Fragile gives him to Sam. The thing is, the puppet moves at a halting frame rate. Everyone else moves at a normal one. Perhaps whoever this is happens to be a person at another location (or even on the Beach), and the delay is caused by that distance? Something’s definitely going on with this lil’ friend, and I’m betting it’s tied to the Beach.

This one comes up at the very end of the State of Play Death Stranding 2 trailer! Sam is lying on his bed, just as he would in the original game. In that first entry, when he’d lie down his cuff links computer would connect to the bed. This was a computer and vitals system that could provide information for Sam, and it seemed that would be a way to update. Well, the Bridges cuff links are gone, but there’s now a ring on his right thumb we can see at the 9:09 mark that may serve a similar purpose.

This could be nothing, but it could also be something? The book Moby Dick is on the shelf above Sam’s bed at the 9:09 mark. We know in Death Stranding 2 that he’s working for Fragile’s group Drawbridge to again reconnect people. However, we also know that something seems to have happened to Lou, and Sam is searching for truth and information about her. Ahab had his white whale he fixated on and pursued, leading to his ruin. Maybe Sam’s on a similar sort of quest that could become his downfall.

Kojima Productions revealed a new trailer for Death Stranding 2 On The Beach and its full name during the January 2024 State of Play. The sequel will bring Sam Bridges to Mexico and new parts of Earth after reconnecting America and is set for a 2025 release.

The new Death Stranding 2 On The Beach trailer is 9 minutes and 40 seconds long. The footage shows new environments like a desert area, the DHV Magellan ship that Fragile commands to back up Sam, as well as brand new characters and the return of familiar faces.

Death Stranding 2 is a sequel to the 2019 original game. The game was initially announced during The Game Awards 2022 alongside its first trailer. No new information has appeared ever since its initial reveal. Back in May 2022, Norman Reedus confirmed his involvement in DS2 prior to its official reveal.

Death Stranding 2 is currently in development for PS5, and it will release in 2025. The original Death Stranding was released for the PlayStation 4, and the Death Stranding Director’s Cut version is available on PS5 and PC, and it added new side content.

A24 and Kojima Productions announced their plans to adapt Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding into a live-action movie. A24 is best known for its highly-acclaimed films like Everything Everywhere All At Once, Moonlight, Uncut Gems, Hereditary, and Lady Bird.

The original video game features famous Hollywood actors like Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lea Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsey Wagner. There are currently no announcements regarding the cast for the Death Stranding live-action film adaption. No other information was revealed about the film adaption of the video game by Hideo Kojima.

To commemorate the announcement of the live-action feature film, A24 has released a special shirt with A24's logo specially woven into the style of Death Stranding's logo. The shirt comes in sizes Small to 2XL and costs $40 USD. The shirt is currently sold out on the A24 Shop due to popular demand following the film adaption's announcement.

The announcement of the Death Stranding live-action movie adaption coincides with Kojima Production's eighth anniversary which happens on December 16, 2023. The companies stated in the announcement that the film will delve into the mysteries surrounding the event of "Death Stranding", an apocalyptic event that drew horrifying monsters into the world and created a bridge between life and death.

Kojima Productions also revealed in the announcement that over 16 million people across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, PlayStation Plus, and PC Game have played the video game since its launch in 2019.

Death Stranding 2 was announced at The Game Awards 2022, which will feature familiar faces from the first game including Norman Reedus' Sam Porter, Lea Seydoux's Fragile, and Troy Baker's Higgs. The first game is currently available to play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Kojima Productions announced OD, a new horror game for Xbox consoles, during The Game Awards 2023. Jordan Peele will be involved in the creation of the game.

Actors Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, and Hunter Schafer will appear in the game in undisclosed roles. The reveal trailer only showed CGI head shots of the actors delivering cryptic dialogue, accompanied by eerie music playing in the background.

Following the reveal, Jordan Peele and Hideo Kojima discussed the project on stage. The two discussed working with each other, their thoughts on what the experience will be like, and their inspirations. This conversation also touched on how the two of them got started, and it included a hint from Kojima that some other creators are also going to be involved in the creation of OD. However, he didn't offer any details about other people who could be working with him.

Kojima Productions is also currently involved in the development of Death Stranding 2, which was announced during TGA 2022.

OD is currently in development by Kojima Productions, and Jordan Peele will be involved in the game. The game will appear for Xbox consoles. More information will appear in the future.

Apple revealed that Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village, and Death Stranding will be playable on new generation iPhone devices. This announcement comes alongside the reveal of the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones. The games will be compatible with the new generation of iPhone devices only and are set to come out for these in 2023.

The new iPhone devices will release to the market on September 22, 2023 and will be available for pre-order from September 15, 2023. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be equipped with the A17 Pro chip, which will allow the new iPhone models to run such recent games as Resident Evil 4 Remake or Death Stranding. Furthermore, Apple confirmed that the new smartphones will hardware-accelerated ray tracing.

Additionally, Apple also revealed that the Assassin’s Creed Mirage will also be compatible with the new iPhone models. The game is set to come out for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in the first half of 2024.

Resident Evil Village is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Death Stranding is available for the PS4, PS5, and Windows PC. All three games are coming to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max later in 2023.

Microsoft announced the latest additions to and departures from Xbox Game . Death Stranding is among the games on the way out, with the PC version leaving the service on August 15, 2023. Hideo Kojima’s experimental game starring Norman Reedus as a courier in a post-apocalyptic landscape was a surprise addition to the PC Game library in 2022 due to Sony’s involvement in its development.

Here are the new additions to Xbox Game for August 2023. Two games are technically day-one additions. Everspace 2 is making its console debut (it’s already on PC Game ), and Broforce coming complete with its new expansion Broforce Forever.

Metal Gear Creator Hideo Kojima shared photos of himself with actor Nicolas Cage at the Kojima Productions studio in Tokyo. Standing next to the statue of studio mascot Ludens, Cage can also be seen writing a message to Kojima and the studio team thanking them for the tour.

Kojima previously posted pictures of his meetings with other notable people on his Twitter, including Sony's Jim Ryan and Microsoft's Phil Spencer. While some will interpret the tweets as a teaser for a potential collaboration between the two, it is also entirely possible for it to have been a social visit.

This is not the first time the two have been involved in the collision of  the Game and Movie worlds. Back in May, Nicolas Cage was revealed to be appearing as a playable character in Behaviour Interactive's Dead By Daylight. Meanwhile, Hideo Kojima is set to be the subject of a documentary releasing at the Tribeca film festival, and is involved with a Death Stranding movie being made by Hammerstone Studios.

Nicolas Cage's latest film Renfield released in the US on April 2023, and his appearance in Dead by Daylight will be detailed on July 5, 2023.

The Hideo Kojima documentary will be debut at the Tribeca film festival on June 17, 2023. His studio, Kojima Productions is also working on Death Stranding 2, which he teased some possible symbols late in 2022.

At Apple's WWDC 2023 presentation on June 5, 2023, Hideo Kojima appeared to announce the Death Stranding: Director's Cut Mac port. After the game porting technology Apple is working on was announced, the head of Kojima Productions appeared with his reveal. There’s no release date yet for it beyond the latter half of 2023, however. Kojima also stated, “This is just the beginning, and we are actively working to bring our future titles to Apple platforms.”

When discussing the port of his game for the Mac, Kojima also talked about some of the technology that will be used. He referenced Apple silicon and Metal 3, and specifically mentioned how they used MetalFX Upscaling.

As a reminder, Death Stranding debuted on the PS4 in 2019. PC and PS5 versions followed in 2021, with the Director’s Cut adding new content. There’s new equipment for Sam and new actions he can take while fighting. There’s also a roadster car to drive, either while traveling or on the new race track, and it added a Ruined Factory location.

Death Stranding is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and the Director's Cut will come to the Mac later in 2023.
