Koikeya teased a new potato chip collaboration with Square Enix and Final Fantasy XIV on social media. The company will share more information about the collaboration on February 4, 2025 at 12:00 pm JST.

The post shared by the company’s official teased that the Don Tacos tortilla chip brand could be the next Koikeya chip to receive a flavor inspired by the MMORPG. The post itself features the silhouette of a FFXIV moogle wearing what looks like a Mexican sombrero hat and holding some maracas. The image is accompanied by the aforementioned date, and the hashtags included are FF14 and “Tural De Tacos,” referencing the FFXIV: Dawntrail new location, as well as the Tacos al Pastor dish introduced in the new expansion.

The first Koikeya potato collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV originally appeared on August 25, 2023 in Japan, and it featured “Crystal of Light” themed salt-flavored chips, inspired by the world of Eorzea and the in-game popoto vegetable. The bags featured different characters and illustrations of the MMORPG.

Final Fantasy XIV is readily available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. More information about the new FFXIV Koikeya chip collaboration will appear in the future.

After selling out in just a day, Japanese chip brand Koikeya is reselling its collaboration snack product with Final Fantasy XIV, the “Eorzea Popoto chips.” They are now being made to order and are available to purchase on the official website until September 17, 2023. Currently, they are only available in Japan.

The Final Fantasy XIV Potato Chips were so popular that there is now an order limit placed on how many fans can purchase at a time. Customers are limited to four per online order at this time. They are scheduled to ship out around the middle of October.

Koikeya announced that it made the decision to resell the Eorzea Popoto Chips on release day. The resale was announced on Koikeya’s official social media .

Additionally, packages will also feature a variety of characters eating the chips like the Fat Chocobo, Loporrit, Namazu, Dust Bunny, and Tataru Taru.

The potato chips are described as Crystal of Light rock salt-flavored, as a nod to the crystals in FFXIV and the Final Fantasy series. In FFXIV, popotos are described as a “starchy tuberous vegetables introduced to Eorzea by explorers from the distant western continent.” The Western continent is most likely Tural, the “New World” that will be introduced in the Dawntrail expansion.

During this latest event, players could submit screenshots of their characters wearing outfits that pertained to the chosen theme of "future adventures."
