Tecmo and Koei, now one under the Koei Tecmo umbrella, are dabbling with crossover content for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce Special.
Sony and other third party publishers have been releasing a steady stream of digital re-releases in North America. As of a few weeks ago Japan is catching up.
From Software isn’t the only company profiting off portable PlayStation 2 games. Koei and Gust are ing the party too. Koei will release Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Special, the PlayStation 2 version of Dynasty Warriors 6, for PSP on September 3.
Unlike all the dozens of Warriors games Warriors: Legends of Troy is not being handled by Omega Force. Koei’s Canada studio is developing the title, which is a blend of Dynasty Warriors and Greek mythology.
Koei repackaged the two Warriors Orochi games and added a few characters like Sanzang Fashi to make Musou Orochi Z for the PlayStation 3. The game came out in Japan in March, but it won’t cross the Pacific.
Team Ninja, Tecmo, and Nintendo kept Metroid: Other M well hidden from the public eye. Even Koei, which merged with Tecmo, wasn’t aware the game was in development.
Recently announced PS3 action RPG, Trinity: Zill O’ll Zero, is heading overseas. Koei will publish the game here under the name Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll. The game is being developed by Omega Force.
Tomorrow, a PlayStation 3 port of Uncharted Waters Online surfs into Japan. In the Land of the Rising Sun the game is called Daikokai Jidai Online (The Great Voyage Online). Since the names differ why would Koei a trademark for Uncharted Waters Online over here?
