Hori will release a special camera for the Nintendo Switch 2 based on the Piranha Plant enemies that appear in the Super Mario Bros series. The product page for the camera has been spotted and available to pre-order on the German electronics store MediaMarkt, where it costs €39,99 (or approximately $43.89). No pre-order pages are live on stores in other regions as of time of writing. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The camera will be available on the same day as the new Nintendo console releases, which is June 5, 2025. The new Piranha Plant camera will USB-C connection with the Nintendo Switch 2 system, and it comes with a potted plant style base stand to easily place. The mouth also offers a privacy mode by closing its mouth so it cannot broadcast an image.

As with many other goods released by Hori in the past, the new camera is an officially licensed item. At the time of writing, there is no information on the camera releasing outside of . However, since Hori is a Japanese company, we can certainly expect the camera to appear in its home country at some point. There is a possibility we might also see it appear in other European countries.

As shown in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct revealing more details and games for the new console system, the Switch 2 will include a C button that opens Game Chat. This function allows for voice and video calls with other friends that own and are playing the console, and even screen sharing games. A default official camera has already been announced as well as the new Piranha Plant one.

The Hori Piranha Plant Camera for the Nintendo Switch 2 will release in on June 5, 2025. No release date for North America, Japan, or other parts of Europe have been confirmed yet.

Hori announced a new batch of pre-orders for the re-release of the Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix controller is now available in Japan. The controller costs 38,478 yen (or approximately $261.67) and is expected to release by March 31, 2025.

Same as with the first batch of pre-orders, a set of triangle, circle, X, and square buttons (the button layout for the PlayStation DualShock and DualSense controllers) will be included as a bonus. There PS button layout will only be available to a limited number of early pre-orders. The controller is only compatible with Project Diva Mega Mix in both its Switch and PC releases. However, Hori does not offer international shipping.

Hori announced the re-release of the controller back in early January 2025, with a first batch of pre-orders happening shortly after the announcement.

Hori will re-release the Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix Switch and PC controller in March 2025. While it is designed for the Switch and Steam versions of the game, there will be an option to swap the buttons to show PlayStation controls.

While supplies last, four △◯✕□ buttons will come with the controller. This is for people who’re used to playing with a PlayStation controller or who just prefer this aesthetic over the XYBA buttons. The buttons and sliders glow when you use them, and they’re the same size as the s on the Future Tone arcade machines. So you can feel like you’re playing the game at an arcade while remaining at home.

Unlike the Future Tone DX controller Hori released for the PS4, this Switch/PC controller does not have a “Normal Mode” to switch to. This means that you can literally only use it for Project Diva Mega Mix. As well, it’s not a wireless controller. To use it, you must plug in the USB cord.

Pre-orders for the Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix controller re-release opened on January 1, 2025. It costs 38,478 JPY ($245.90). You can put in your pre-order via the Hori website. However, Hori does not offer international shipping. The game is also a separate purchase.

Square Enix announced that a FFXIV HORI Tactical Assault Commander F14 keypad controller will appear April 2024. It will work with the PS4, PS5, and PC versions of the game. 

Pre-orders already went live on the official Square Enix Store for the $139.99 device and sold out. However, people can still wishlist there. It is also still available on Amazon. The peripheral only has a “mid-April 2024” release window and no exact release date yet.

There are 21 keys on the FFXIV HORI Tactical Assault Commander F14 keypad controller. Each one of those can be programmed to someone’s liking. People also have dedicated Esc and Profile buttons, as well as a joystick. Backlight functionality is present to help make things clearer to see. There is a companion app for PCs to work with it, which allows people to set up different profiles and customize the controller. 

Square Enix and Hori also shared a gallery of images with us that show how someone’s hand could rest on the keypad and included screenshots of the companion app to show some of the customization options.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, with 6.55 part 2 available as of January 2024. It is also headed to the Xbox Series X in Spring 2024. The Dawntrail expansion is in development for a Summer 2024 release. People will be able to pick up the FFXIV HORI Tactical Assault Commander F14 keypad controller from Amazon or Square Enix direct sometime around the middle of April 2024 for the PS4, PS5, and PC.

During the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, Bandai Namco announced Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival would head to the Nintendo Switch. Now there's a release date for it. People will be able to get it on September 23, 2022. Bandai Namco also confirmed physical copies via opening pre-orders. People can also pre-order a drum peripheral to go with it.

First, here's the new trailer for Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival. It is brief and goes over features. There will be 76 included songs. People can play alone, online against others, or take part in party games alone or with others. A campaign of sorts will be present. In it, characters like Don and Katsu will meet Kumo-kyun the cloud. It will the Taiko Music too, which allows someone to pay a fee to access a library of 500 songs. It ends with the release date.

As for the game, it will cost $39.99 for a physical copy. The drum controller, which gives people a drum and two sticks, will be $69.99. If people go through Bandai Namco, they can only order two copies of each.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival will come to the Nintendo Switch on September 23, 2022. The Hori drum controller will be available that same day.

Hori revealed a new Monster Hunter Rise design for its line of Split Pad Pro controllers. The Nintendo-licensed product replaces the standard Joy-Con and features larger buttons, grips, and a D-pad. The controller will release in Japan on April 26, 2021 and will cost 5,258 yen (including tax).

Using the game's flagship monster, Magnamalo, as its motif, the Monster Hunter Rise Split Pad Pro controller is designed for both serious players or just those with larger hands. Compared to a standard Joy-Con, Hori's bigger alternative features larger face buttons, sticks, shoulder buttons, and a D-pad. Additionally, there are programmable buttons on the rear, a turbo button, and assignable buttons too. Fans interested in buying the product should that it cannot be used wirelessly and does not have a gyro function built-in.

Though Hori only announced the controller for release in Japan so far, importing through places like Amazon is an option for overseas fans. Outside of Monster Hunter, Hori's line of Split Pad Pro controller designs also feature characters like Pac-Man and Pikachu. The standard and Pikachu Hori Split Pad Pro controllers are available outside Japan.

Capcom will release both Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2 on the Nintendo Switch soon. It will hold three separate anniversary events in March 2021. There will be new information, gameplay, and even a Q & A with the Director.

One of the most agonizing decisions that can face a would-be Pokémon player is also one of the very first decisions: choosing a starter. For decades, millions of Pokémon masters-in-training have struggled to pick the best or most appealing starter for them. But with the Pokémon Joy-Con Charge Stand, peripheral maker Hori appears to want to spare players from that pain. At least, it does for as long as it takes to charge one's controllers [Thanks, Famitsu!].

The solution, as it turns out, is fairly simple. Give buyers of the Pokémon Joy-Con Charge Stand every starter! That is, every starter if you're mainly concerned about the original Pokémon games. The stand is decorated with the three original starter Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Two other Generation-1 starters are also honored in the package's included protective Joy-Con casings: Pikachu and Eevee. The ever-popular Pikachu was the only starter option available in Pokémon Yellow. During that game, the player's rival is given Eevee as his starter, though Eevee itself didn't become an actual starting Pokémon until the Switch-based Pokémon: Let's Go Eevee!

The illustration is also contiguous when at least two Joy-Cons are docked, allowing players to bring all the starter Pokémon together for the three to seven hours it takes to fully recharge a pair of Joy-Cons. The Pokémon Joy-Con Charge Stand can handle up to four Joy-Cons in total, though the art only covers the front.

The Pokémon Joy-Con Charge Stand will be sold in Asia and Japan starting in April 2021. It will cost about 4,378 yen (about $42 USD).

Bandai Namco has announced a large update for the fishing arcade game port Fishing Spirits on Nintendo Switch, which will add more of a multiplayer element to the game. Additionally, the game is getting a new physical version that includes a Hori-produced fishing rod accessory that functions similarly to the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Fishing Rod. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

Essentially, the multiplayer mode is a Party Mode where up to four players can fish together at the same time. More information on the mode will be announced later on, but Bandai Namco confirms that the update will come this Summer.

Meanwhile, the fishing rod accessory is specially designed in black and red and is a plastic shell made to hold the left and right Joy-Cons in separate positions. Like the Toy-Con Fishing Rod, the left Joy-Con is put in the handle, and the right Joy-Con is placed in the reel. That said, due to the thing being made of plastic, it's likely to hold out longer than the cardboard-made Toy-Con. The game and accessory combo will only be produced in limited amounts, and releases on July 21, 2020 for 7,980 yen in Japan. It'll also be purchasable separately for 2,480 yen.

Fishing Spirits is currently available for Nintendo Switch.

Hori planned a controller that will change the way we all enjoy games for April Fools' Day 2020: the NYAN-CON. This purrpfect peripherial will be paired with a smartphone Quiz RPG titled Wizard and Black Cat Quiz, which is currently being produced by Colopl. The NYAN-CON will be released on February 2, 2222. The NYAN-CON is for cats and the people who love them. The same can be said of Wizard and Black Cat Quiz, which even features a cat language option so us humans can experience gaming on a cat’s level. Hori really went all-in on this new controller; it's not kitten around with the NYAN-CON. Finally, cats will be able to be on the cutting edge of animal gaming tech!

Additionally, this feline toy has some pretty solid specs and a twenty-five year warranty. It's also wireless, meaning paws and claws won't mangle the cables. Other features including silicon pads and up to 22 hours of battery life. Hori has even created some optional parts, including a cat tower and a floor lamp. Unfurtunately, there’s currently no information about how much this delightful device will cost.

Hori has also included seven functions to make this controller the cat’s meow. First, there’s the pliable materials, perfect for cats who like a good texture. Hori has also thought ahead to cats who might need to look their best, as the controller has an scratch board on the sides to hone those claws. There’s also a feature where cats can get some nice rice. However, please note that rice that's left out might rot and can cause harm to your furry friend.

Fun fact: the controller’s name is a pun in Japanese. In Japanese, cats say “nya”, instead of English’s “meow”. Similarly, in Japanese, “two” is pronounced “ni”. For many Japanese speakers, “nya” and “ni” are quite close in sound. This has spawned the now famous Neko no Hi, or Cat’s Day, which plays on the pronunciation February 22, which can be read as “nya nya nya,” versus reading it as “ni ni ni.” Hence the February 2, 2222 release date: it’s a pun that’s both claw-ful and puff-fect at the same time.

People anticipating the PC Engine Mini console will have to wait on Hori’s new accessories. They have been delayed until April 30, 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus infection. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

Hori's planned accessories will include a turbo controller, multi-tap accessory, and an AC adapter for the mini console. They all come in colors that match the PC Engine’s black, grey, and red design. Originally, these peripherals were set to launch on March 19, 2020. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait over a month to acquire any of these items.

Actually, the PC Engine has experienced similar delays. It was set to launch on March 19, 2020, but was delayed due to the on-going global pandemic. Currently, there is no new launch date and the console will be indefinitely pushed back until further notice. Some buyers in Japan were able to receive their preorders before the general delay was set in stone due to already manufactured consoles. Most buyers, however, will get their consoles once there's a new release date.

The turbo controller will retail at ¥2,882 (~$26.40). The multi-tap will cost ¥3,465 (~$31.75). Finally, the AC adapter will be priced at ¥2,299 (~$21). All prices include tax, but not shipping.

Last Wednesday, peripheral manufacturer HORI started taking orders for a Border Break custom PS4 joystick with a minimal requirement of 3,000 orders by May 2 to begin production. Today, the company announced that it has reached the 3,000 orders needed and will begin production.

The Border Break Exclusive Controller for PlayStation 4 is priced at 18,334 yen and is set to release in 2018.

HORI will continue as scheduled to keep orders available until May 2 at 10:00am JST. Those of you interest can check it out at the official HORI store.

Additionally, those who purchase the custom stick will get an original mecha paint with the HORI logo for Border Break.

A lot of us miss having a D-pad with the Nintendo Switch, but those of you who really want one can invest in peripheral manufacturer HORI’s new left Joy-Con that comes with a good ol’ D-pad this July.

The “D-pad Con (L) for Nintendo Switch” works only on Handheld Mode. HORI is making it so players can have a better choice for playing fighting games, arcade archive titles, as well as old school games that you’ve played on D-pads in the past.

Having a D-pad on Switch sounds pretty sweet, but there are some drawbacks other than it only being usable in Handheld Mode. Here’s what’s missing from the standard Joy-Con:

HORI is making a collaboration fighting stick for Dragon Ball FighterZ, which sports a bright design of Super Saiyan Blue Goku on what seems to be a RAP.N Hayabusa fighting stick.

The fight stick is compatible with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC through XInput, has a headphone jack, and a touchpad. The size of the fighting stick is around 43cm x 27 cm x 12 cm, and weighs around 2.9kg.

The HORI fight stick will be available on February 1, 2018, the same day that Dragon Ball FighterZ releases in Japan. Dragon Ball FighterZ will be available on January 26, 2018 internationally, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
