The developers of Hololive fan-game Holo X Break announced that the game launched without online multiplayer. In a message posted to social media, the developers apologized and promised to add the feature at some time in the future.

The message explained that the intricacies of implementing online multiplayer were too much for the team to solve before the release date of March 29, 2024. However, the team decided to release the game in an offline state, rather than push the release back entirely. Holo X Break will feature local co-op however, and online play can be simulated using Steam's Remote Play Together feature, which the developers state they used frequently for testing purposes.

The game istelf, which was announced earlier this month and launched today, is a side-scrolling beat-em-up similar to River City Girls and inspired by Little Fighters 2. The chief developer Kay Yu also previously created Holocure and has worked as an animator on several Hololive music videos as well as several non-Hololive related anime series like Onii-chan wa Oshimai! and Mushoku Tensei.

Alongside Holo X Break, Cover Corp. also recently announced 2 more games would be released under the Holo Indie label: Wowowow Korone Box and Miko in Maguma. This is in addition to Idol Showdown, which Cover announced would be ing the label earlier in the month.

Holo X Break is immediately available for PC via Steam, with online multiplayer to be added in a later update.

Holo X Break developer Kay Yu revealed a release date for the Hololive fangame: March 29, 2024. The announcement came during the Hololive Super Expo, where a new trailer was also shown.

The new trailer shows us more gameplay and reveals that the game will also feature over 140 emotes to collect and use, illustrated by various Hololive fan artists. Developer Kay Yu also took to Twitter to detail how the game was inspired by freeware fighting game Little Fighters 2.

Holo X Break was announced earlier in March 2024 and will also launch under Cover's Holo Indie label. The game will be featuring voices from several Hololive Vtubers from the groups NePoLaBo and Secret Society HoloX.

Meanwhile, Good Smile Company announced several new figures of Hololive vtubers at Hololive Super Expo 2024, including ones of Oozora Subaru and Sakura Miko. It was also announced that Calliope Mori of Hololive's English branch would be performing the ending theme of the anime Suicide Squad Isekai.

The release date for Holo X Break is March 29, 2024, and the game will be available to play on PC via Steam.

A Steam page has opened for Hololive fan-made beat-em-up Holo X Break, from Holocure developer Kay Yu. The game will also launch under the Holo Indie label, though there is currently no release date.

The development of Holo X Break was announced earlier this month with a trailer featuring the voices of several Hololive Vtubers starring in the game. Despite the Holo Indie label allowing fan game developers to monetize their work, the Steam page confirms that the game will be free and also include up to 4 player local and online multiplayer.

Developer Kay Yu also took to Twitter to explain why Holo X Break will appear under the official label while Holocure did not. The answer involves the difficulty of changing workflows to accommodate the involvement of Cover Corp. staff. You can find the announcement tweet below:

Cover Corp. outlined guidelines for the Holo Indie label back in November 2023, allowing the developers of Hololive fan games to monetize their work. One of the first games to debut under the label was HoloParade, a side-scrolling tower-defense game featuring Hololive talents and mascots.

Holo X Break will launch on Steam but currently does not have a release date.

Kay Yu, the primary developer of fan-made Survivors-like Holocure, announced a new Hololive game called Holo X Break that will feature Vtubers from the 5th and 6th generations in Japan. The developer also confirmed that update 0.7 for Holocure is still in development.

Based on the screenshots and trailer, Holo X Break appears to be a side-scrolling beat-em-up in the vein of River City Girls, which developer Kay Yu worked on as a key animator. The developer's other work credits include Mushoku Tensei, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp.

The game's plot will follow the Hololive Vtuber agency's Momosuzu Nene, Omaru Polka, Shishiro Botan, and Yukihana Lamy as they attempt to rescue the company's CEO from Secret Society HoloX. While it is currently unknown what platform Holo X Break will release on, the previous game was only available for PC via Steam and Itch.io.

Kay Yu's previous game Holocure came to Steam in August, 2023, after approval from Hololive owner Cover Corp, alongside update 0.6. The developer also explained how to get save data from the previous version to transfer to the Steam version, for those who were already playing.

Holo X Break will launch sometime in March 2024, though platforms at this time are unknown. Holocure is immediately available through Steam and Itch.io.
